We called courtesy plumbers because we saw a minor water damage on our wall beside the shower/tub. Calling for an appointment was easy and Jack our plumber was on time. He was able to diagnose the issue and gave us a couple of recommendations on how to fix it. 2 of our shower valves needs replacing and he was pretty honest to say that one of the valves was not exactly fixed since the valve that he currently have is not the exact fit. It was better than nothing because it slowed the leak down. What made me appreciate courtesy plumbing or Jack more is one day after he called back and said he found a better valve that might fit our shower and he could come and replace it. Two words... ridiculously expensive. I have used Courtesy Plumbing many, many times over the last 15 years at my house. Their work is excellent but you have to pay for it. I've seen their prices escalating exponentially over the years, to a point that I no longer can justify paying that much extra $. Most recent example. SoCal Gas found a leak at the meter/house junction. I called Courtesy Plumbing and the price is $475 for coming out to do a leak detection, even though SoCal Gas already found it. Whereas other companies would just do free estimate. I don't mind paying for estimate, I actually think it's reasonable for that work... but $475? No way. read more

Had seen someone on the nextdoor app recommend this company for plumbing and when it came time to finally call they were straight to the point your professionals. My issue was whenever I flushed the toilet my shower wouldn't properly drain. They got on the roof and through the drain vent ran the snake to the street and cleaned it all out. Judging by their photos, and testimonials, I'm sure they do fine work. They are just way too expensive for me. Each feedback entry should be viewed by its own merits. I called for a free estimate. Plumber (Cory) came 2 days later (on a Friday: 8/20/21) at the time stated. Ok, so far so good. Was there a little under 1 minute looking at problem and left. After I called them on Monday at 45 minutes to closing time, asking for my estimate, they finally emailed it to me. Now I am not a licensed plumber, but do possess rudimentary common sense regarding home repairs and degrees of complexity. I also realize running a business with assorted overheads, costs money. And of course, the business does need to make a profit. I fully understand all this. When I saw the quote of $850 for about maximum 1 hours work, keeping in mind the above, I was shocked. Now if your reading this, all work involved exposed piping in my back yard. If they were to go under the house, to remove additional piping ( I have a raised foundation) it would have been $1,550.00. A little more involved but not necessary in this case. One part of the exposed pipe was rusted and leaking. The work entailed cutting off old pipe, and install PVC piping and elbows, shortening the areas the water was flowing to since the old pipes could just be cut off and removed. See the before and after photos. I even dug up the areas involved (actually my good neighbor did). So I ask you (and I hope other plumbers are reading this), is $850 a reasonable amount to charge for 1 hour or less work? What would you have charged? Needless to say, I feel I was being absolutely overcharged. Incidentally, the "after" pictures of the completed work, was done by my neighbor. It took $30.46 in parts and a generous cash payment for his time and effort by a very grateful neighbor - me! Thank you Dan! I have never called these folks before but feel I was being taken advantage of. Seriously, an estimated $800 for an hours worth of labor, excluding say $50 for the parts? Seems excessive and will avoid them. Look forward to your honest comments, especially from the owner. Thank you. Just being honest. read more

I originally called courtesy plumbing for a simple job to remove moldy caulking around the kitchen sink. The operator told me it would be around $130 for the job. I was find with that and booked it. The day of job the plumber (C) tells me the best way to remove the mold the right way is to drop the sink to be able to clean everything out. I wanted the mold gone so I said OK fine.. the job was not completed but rescheduled. Then the morning of the job (again) he comes and says oops I didn't know the sink was installed this way... we can't drop the sink after all.. we will just need to scrape it out, which was the original plan from day 1. Then he goes and charges my husband $400 for the same damn job the operator quoted me $130 for. I was not home nor did I communicate with my husband the original price so I when I came home I just let us take the hit for it. But damn, does not feel good to have plans change then reversed then get ripped off... It's a lot of time and money wasted. But because of this I would not go back to Courtesy Plumbing read more

Crooks, or just incompetent? You be the judge! I had a guy show up today to flush my tankless water heater and figure out why I wasn't getting any flow to my bathroom sink faucet. As far as I know, the water heater job went okay - it was expensive, but I was told the price in advance. But for the faucet, the guy said he had to go under the house ($225 charge to go under the house) and when he came back out, he said he had found the problem down there and it would cost $1636.00 to fix! He said it would take a half day (wish I made $1600 for a half-day's work) and he would have to come back another day to do the job. I called another plumber the same day, and he was able to correct the problem by simply replacing the faucet. I won't be calling Courtesy Plumbing again. read more

Note: this is a review regarding their customer service/communication. I did not end up using this company due to the lack of proper communication so cannot comment on the quality of their plumbing work. Reached out to this company for a water softener installation quote. They were one of the companies with experience installing the Pelican water system and they had good reviews so I figured I would call and ask. The woman who picks up the phone (I believe her name is Tess) was very kind & helpful, but the rest of the communication with the process was very broken and lacking. First, I was told someone would come out to my property to give me a quote between a specified time frame. I made sure to be home during this 4 hour window. Nobody arrived so I called the main line and they said that Cory would be coming. Cory never came and instead called me while he was driving to discuss things over the phone (there was so much background noise I could barely hear him at times). I canceled other commitments and appointments in order to be home during this time so this was already a turnoff. Second, he asked me to send him an e-mail with photos of my yard and he would get back to me after the weekend. I waited a few days and received no response back. I called the office again and then Tess was able to get a hold of Cory and send me an estimate. We finally got an agreement on the final price and I had a few questions for Cory so Tess said she would let Cory know and that he would call me back. I gave them a time frame for which I would be available, and again, no communication. I never received a call. I'm sure this company is great and I had a good experience communicating with Tess, but I think they need to improve their internal communication. I had to call this company 3-4 times to follow-up on my own. In the end, I went with another company because I felt uneasy about the lack of communication and "flakiness" and how much follow-up work I had to do. I figured that would not be something I would want to deal with in installing a system that costs multiple thousands of dollars. read more

The technician (Frank?) was really helpful and was also able to clear a clog another company could not. We then had another plumbing issue, which was a bit more complicated. I've met with several of their plumbers, including the owner, and I was very impressed by their straightforwardness. Its Thanksgiving, my kitchen faucet is leaking, its also clogged, and I'm having to dump buckets of stinky water out. I called and they answered quickly. Within 30 minutes someone called me with an eta. Less than an hour and a half of Thanksgiving Frank was here, in a good mood, ready to get the job done. 2 hours later, done. Thanksgiving is saved. Exceptional customer service from the woman at dispatch (my apologies for forgetting her name) to Frank, the tech who serviced the main house for a clogged bathroom sink and the back house for a clogged toilet. The clogged toilet in the back house is actually an unfinished job left by another plumbing company that will remain nameless (since their ratings are already poor, I would much rather leave an outstanding review here than bring down their ratings even further). The nameless company was found by my uncle with mental illness (schizophrenia) and who lives in the back house. I feel because of his mental illness he was taken advantage of, and was charged $288 for the clogged toilet that still remained clogged after the fact. A few days later (today), I did a little research and stumbled upon Courtesy Plumbing. I am so glad we did! Thank you Frank for being so easy to work with on top of being so knowledgeable. My requested time frame was 2pm-5pm. Frank arrived at 2:30pm and provided a courtesy call to let me know of his arrival. Called yesterday because my Fiancé had purchased a new sink for me and I needed it installed. Rick came first thing this morning. He was upfront and honest with me about why it could not be done. The area underneath was rotted and not safe for him to work on. The counter really needs to be replaced as it is press board that had suffered issues due to water leaking around the edges of the sink, etc. All understandable. But, he said to give them a call when I get that done and he'd be glad to come out and take care of things. He was able to fix the leak in my bathtub faucet and replace my shower diverter so I can actually get the full pressure from one or the other shower head, instead of half pressure from both at the same time even though I've chosen only one.lol I can't wait to get the work done so I can have Rick come back.
