We had Cory from Courtesy Plumbing come out and install our home water filter system. They were knowledgeable and were able to work around my weirdo plumbing system (old house with lots of unlicensed "repair" work). They were always friendly, prompt, and did the work wonderfully! Thom to the rescue!!! I came home to a leaking water filter and water every where. I foolishly tried to do the repair job myself and quickly changed a leaking water filter to a busted water filter. I logged onto yelp and threw up the bat signal hoping for some quick help. Most of the early replies were "sorry we can't help" or "not available for two more days." When I realized today that I had some type of blockage in my shower and toilets my heart sank. I imagined having to wait a week for service only to pay thousands of dollars for said service. This is the impression I had when calling two other plumbing companies. So disheartened, I looked through Yelp to see if I could find someone who was honest and trustworthy....and that is just what I found in Courtesy Plumbers. Within minutes of calling I was told that someone would be at my house that same day!! No "emergency service fee" either!! I doubt it took an hour for Sean and Bobby to arrive. They were incredibly professional, courteous and have amazing work ethic. Everything was in perfect working order in what was maybe 20 minutes or less. My bill was the amount I was told I had to pay just to "come out and see you" by the first company I called. I cannot praise them enough. You would be hard pressed to find another company that had honest, fair pricing; were friendly and have like I said, amazing work ethic. I was desperate and took a chance on Googling and Yelping a plumber. I was very skeptical of all the 5 star reviews, esp all the 1 Review posters. My downstairs restroom starting spewing water and waste when my husband was using the toilet upstairs. Our townhouse complex has had issues in the past with the main line for all the units. After removing the stucco over the outside outlet and several attempts at snaking it ourselves, we gave up and tried to find anyone that could come on a Sunday at 6pm. I called the number and left a voice mail and got a callback in 10 minutes. It's like a triage service. You call he main number and they'll coordinate with their staff of plumbers on shift or on-call. Dustin was my plumber and was able to get to me in less than an hour. I live in Monrovia. He brought in an industrial snake that weighed 400lbs. It was quick. He ran it, removed the clog (grease, eww) Gave us recommendations and $130 later was gone. Some reviews mentioned a Yelp referral discount, but I don't think it exists. They were upfront about the price over the phone ($130 for snaking up to 50 ft and $1 for each extra foot). I don't agree with the $1 per extra foot. It should just be a flat fee for snaking. I also felt like it was still pretty high for less than 20 min of work, which most of the 20 min was getting the snake into my backyard. Overall, it was worth it because it was late on a Sunday. My hubby was working on our bathroom's remodel and we needed someone to tend to the plumbing quickly, efficiently and more importantly cost-effectively. I spoke with and interviewed several technicians, none of whom I was interested in pursuing business with. I then found Courtesy Plumbing and contacted them both by phone and via yelp. Refreshingly, I received a response from their manager who was courteous and answered whatever questions he could via message. I proceeded to schedule an estimate and corresponded with Tess who was just as prompt and courteous. As scheduled, and even a little earlier than expected, Thom George showed up, completed a thorough look-through of what we wanted, and explained what was needed to achieve that, he also discussed options and gave us a ballpark estimate, which was followed by an emailed paper estimate in the same day. From that first meet, I booked him for the job. On the day of our appointment, he came, again, as scheduled and not a moment late. He brought along a buddy to assist and take care of any running that was needed. He finished much earlier than I anticipated. The true test was my husband's inspection of Mr. George's handywork. When he came from work that evening, he was impressed and quite happy with how much Mr. George had completed, and felt he even went over and beyond what was expected. He was happy, which in turn, made me happy I made the right choice *whew*. Oh and he charged significantly less than what the unimpressive competitors were charging. Do your research people. Came back home at 600pm on a Saturday to find my garage floor all wet. I didn't want to wait til Monday to call my usual plumber. There was no torrent and fearful that we would be without hot water before long, we both immediately took our last showers before looking for an emergency plumber that would answer the phone on a Saturday night. Courtesy Plumber answered the call. Left my info on their voice mail and within 30-45 minutes got a call back. A plumber was at my house just before 800pm, so kudos for good overall response time... Water was trickling from the top of the water heater although the source of the leak wasn't immediately obvious. There was an unexpected drip line in the exhaust vent pipe. The plumber was systematic in his approach so I couldn't fault him too much for cutting into the drywall near the point where the exhaust vent from the water heater met with the ceiling, but the drywall around the vent had no obvious signs of saturation. So although I have a hole in my drywall to deal with, there wasn't a leak somewhere inside the ceiling or above which would have been a much bigger problem much to our relief. Turned out that the water heater had been leaking internally and somehow steam was being generated unexpectedly and rose up the exhaust vent whereby the drip was caused by condensation, not a typical failure mode by any stretch... Once we figured out the source of the problem, the water heater needed to be replaced. I expected the problem to be the water heater since it was 20 years old but this was actually the first water heater that I've ever had to replace. I'll spare you all the details but the plumber hauled away the old water heater, brought in a new one (Bradford White 50gal), reconnected the hot/cold water and pressure relief lines, replaced the gas connection, installed a strap kit, and cleaned the area up in two hours on Saturday night and about 2 hours on Sunday morning... There is a Yelp referral discount so if you use these guys remember to ask about it. The bottom line was about $1400 which may sound a little expensive, but this task was probably beyond what I would be comfortable taking on myself, especially once it's already broken. I was just glad that they came out on a weekend to do the job. So aside from a cosmetic hole in my garage ceiling to deal with, we're back to taking hot showers again after being without for what, only 14 hours? The pilot light on my water heater went out and I needed help. I switched out the thermocouple on my own but the pilot light would not stay lit. I called these guys and someone was there within a few hours. His name was Rick and he was very friendly and professional looking. He promptly diagnosed the problem, which was simply that I did not connect the thermocouple completely. Frustrating yes, but for him too, as he did not want to charge me, but since he came out, he had to charge me the minimum fee, which was $99. This included the Yelp discount. He truly felt bad charging me. Either way, the prompt response and speed was impeccable! I would use these guys again, but hopefully won't have to. read more

My wife is 6 months pregnant and Courtesy Plumbers replaced our water heater on a Sunday. I tried getting other plumbers out to the house but no one would come. They sent out a wonderful plumber, Thomas George, who was professional and helped make my beautiful wife's day a lot better. Additionally, the quality of work that Courtesy Plumbers does is fantastic because when we looked at the old water heater it was also installed by them, 20 years ago. Lastly, I recently had to call them out again, because our washing machine was getting no hot water, I thought maybe it had something to do with the hot water heater, so they sent out Thomas George again. He checked out the plumbing and quickly found out that it was the washing machine that was broken. I had a crisis on my hands today- my bathroom drain crumbled right before my eyes. This drain was installed by me 28 years ago. Well needless to say the new stuff didn't work with the old stuff and the pipe broke at the wall. I thought I was a gonner. I agree with some of the other reviews. The plumber that showed up seemed to be a sub-contractor. Roto-rootered a roof vent for $348. Probably should have asked PRIOR to the plumber calling another guy in etc. However, I would expect to be informed of the cost prior to calling the other plumber (as apparently it was a 2 man job). We had another clog in an exterior line, but the plumber said he had to go, but someone would call us Monday. No call on Monday, so I called them. Had some follow up questions and was told the owner would call me later that day. Never heard from them again. Ps. If you use the Yelp Voucher, be prepared to print it out (rather than use on your phone as the voucher advertises). There are too many plumbers out there to choose from and I guess I expected stellar customer service and value rather than a big price tag and no follow through. read more

I am amazed by the work done by Aaron, one of the plumbers from Courtesy Plumbing. I waited a while to post my review partly because I wanted to double check his work for any leaks that may have arisen. There aren't any! Aaron arrived early to give an estimate and seemed knowledgeable. He shared that he had at least 10 years of experience in the field. Then I accepted his reasonable offer, and he started working right away. I had been concerned about the complications arising from changing really old water valves, which had been attached to the house probably well over 30 years and located inside a compact cabinet. Aaron was prepared with the right tools and had enough strength and agility for the job. About a half an hour later from starting, when I thought that he would still be working on removing and installing 2 new valves, he had completed that part and was ready to put on the 2 new water hoses, which he put on in no time. I am a little late in writing this post however I highly recommend not to use Courtesy Plumbing...they wanted $175 just to give an estimate. I had to pay the $175 and then they emailed me the report. They wanted a total of $2650 for a rusted pipe. I then found another plumber; Scaletta Plumbing, and they came out and gave me a quote for FREE, and then said it would only cost $700 to fix my problem. I was refer to Courtesy by my home warranty company, I had a sewer line backup. I find out by Courtesy, they do not work with my warranty company. To save myself the headache by calling back my warranty company (to be honest they're pretty stupid) my deductible is $100 anyway. I ask what would it cost for Courtesy to come out. For my main line she stated $140 for first 80 ft and be out in 2 hour or so, perfect! Aaron arrived he determined it was just a kitchen line that needed snaking. That was causing the back up into the garage sink. Took all but 30 mins and the PLUS, it was cheaper than original quote! Aaron is awesome! Great communication & customer service. I would recommend changing this company name from Courtesy Plumbing to Dishonest Plumbers. Here's why. My husband called them because they are local and have 4.5 rate in reviews (I am wondering now from whom those reviews came from?). We had a leak in a garage from the wall connected to the laundry room and one of the bedrooms. They did first test with some equipment and couldn't find the source of leak (charged $250). Then, we waited for them for a couple of weeks, turning main water valve on and off (totally off at night). Finally, they came with some 'leak specialist' with equipment and did 2 more tests ($440 each; $880 total for that day). They identified source of leak (hooray!) and said, one pipe needs to be changed in a bedroom. Then, we waited for an estimate from them for more than a week. We should have canceled them during that time, but finally estimate came saying we need to pay $3100 to install that single pipe and that should fix the leak. They also made us to pay for asbestos test $450. What asbestos if our house is only 23 years old!? They came at 9am the other day, work for 3 hours, charged $3575. Next day, we notice the leak didn't go away. We called them and Cordy came, cut the pipe that goes to the dishwasher said again that it should fix the problem and left. But the water was still leaking! We reported the issue to Cordy, but we didn't hear from them anymore. They didn't even call us to ask if water still leaking. They accurately cleared money from our account without any delay, though. This was ridiculous experience we went thru with them. Definitely, the worse of all! They charge us for $5155 and didn't fix the leak! We are really upset because $5K is not a small money for us. In one of reviews about Courtesy Plumbing Company, the reviewer is asking "Crooks or Incompetent?". I would say, they are INCOMPETENT DISHONEST COMPANY! Even if they could do good job, they are still way too expensive! But it maybe be ok if they can do the job. Why on earth are you trying to do something, if you are not sure how? To those who read this review, my recommendation is STAY AWAY FROM Courtesy Plumbing company, if you don't want to be cheated as we had. read more
