The hotel even texted me asking for an ETA and I booked months in advance, so there's no reason for that mishap. Valet parking was quick and easy and our car arrived promptly after texting for pickup. Overall, would recommend.

There were two moms and four girls in our group, and after spending the day in uncomfortable cowboy boots in awful weather, we were really looking forward to relaxing at the hotel. Unfortunately, the customer service was some of the worst I've experienced. Upon arrival, the rooms were not ready at the designated 3pm check-in time and were 1.5 hours late, leaving little time to get ready for the concert. You're instructed to text for room service, but no one responds. Calling wasn't any better--no one answered. I finally called the front desk to request towels and a breakfast menu. They sent one old, worn-out towel for a room with four people. To make matters worse, there was a QR code in the room encouraging guests to tip housekeeping, which felt inappropriate given how difficult it was just to receive basic service. I then asked a housekeeper in the hallway for more towels and was met with resistance. She told me they were running low and that she wasn't assigned to my room, so she wanted to save her towels to finish her rooms and leave for the day. I actually had to argue just to get enough towels for everyone. She eventually acknowledged that we were, in fact, entitled to towels--those were her exact words--but guests should never have to debate whether they'll receive basic amenities. The room service food itself was decent, but every order arrived without silverware--even for items like mac and cheese that obviously require utensils. It was frustrating to keep chasing down items that should have been included. The room also lacked natural light, felt poorly maintained, and honestly felt like sleeping in a cave. The location is excellent if you're attending an event at TD Garden, but the poor customer service, lack of attention to basic guest needs, and tired rooms made this a disappointing stay. I would choose a different hotel next time.

(The Green Line closed for maintenance for two weeks the day after I arrived, which threw my transportation plans into disarray, but I don't hold that against the hotel.) It's a close walk to Newbury St. and the Prudential Building with its shops and rooftop observation experience, and not too much more to walk to Copley Square. Wild Duck has a beverage/wine/liquor store across the street, with a little grocery offshoot downstairs on the corner. The Eliot doesn't have much of a lobby to speak of -- it's more an entryway with a check-in desk and elevator lobby. But it's nice, and the check-in process is very welcoming. They use actual keys with big brass chains, which you'll probably want to leave at the desk when you go out. There was never a wait to drop off or pick up the key. (I never had to show ID, so the spy thriller lover in me immediately saw a scenario where the bad guy waits for the hero to go out, then gives the room number and gets the key to go upstairs and steal the memory stick. But that probably doesn't happen very often.) The rooms are mostly suites with various configurations it seems. I had one on a corner, which was nice, with a spacious living area and somewhat smaller bedroom area, but it was fine for sleeping. The two areas were separated by French doors. The soothing blue color palette was lovely and there were some distinctive and tasteful decor pieces. There was an entryway that had a little butler's pantry off it with a beverage cooler, sink and the minibar items/glassware. It was nice to have that separate space. The bathroom was pretty small, as was the closet. The layout of these areas in my room was not very convenient. You had to close the door between the bathroom/vanity area in order to open the closet and everything was a tight space to move around in. There's no handheld wand in the shower, which I deduct points for. There was also a section of the curtain rod where the coating was coming off, and it had a red arrow sticker wrapped around it, but I guess maintenance hadn't gotten there yet. There was a small cellophane wrapper on the floor as well, so some upkeep details were missed, but overall the cleanliness seemed good and the bed and pillows were wonderfully comfortable. I did a ton of walking around Boston in the cold, and I definitely got good sleep at the Eliot. The attached restaurant, Uni, was lively and a tasty sushi/nigiri-type menu, if the server was a little too social and chatty and not making rounds quite often enough.

If you want a hot breakfast, they give you a discount for the adjoining cafe downstairs. Loved the location. We stayed here right before the Boston Marathon in late March '25 for a vacation. Lots of great shopping, restaurants, & cafes located all around in Back Bay. Very safe as well. We'd get back late at night & never felt unsafe. Rooms are small yet clean & they have everything you need including good WiFi & a mini fridge. Housekeeping available daily if preferred. The staff here were excellent. Easy check-in & checkout even though we booked through Chase Travel Portal. We had zero issues. They welcomed us back with a smile every evening. Room access is with an old fashion key, & late night entry to the hotel itself requires key access which is great keeping unwanted guests out. We paid mid $200s per night which I thought was very fair given the location & the costs of other mid-tier hotels in the area. If you're looking for a simple, clean, affordable hotel to stay at, this is it. If you're wanting a more upscale hotel with room service & pampering, you won't find that here. Booking hotels always makes me nervous because you never know what you're walking in to, but my wife & I agreed we'd stay here 10/10 times if returning to Boston.

The room was just what I needed. It was cozy, clean, and comfortable. The staff when I checked in and out was really great. The morning staff in the cafe less so. Although it wasn't busy they all seemed annoyed by the presence of customers. The complimentary coffee and pastries were out when I arrived at 10 a.m. (they serve until 11), so I chose to wait for a new batch to be made, and even then, I felt rushed out.

Was double charged and they initially couldn't find my reservation which resulted in a delayed check-in. Eddy the doorman was an asshole and absolutely rude. His coworkers weren't surprised at all. The water pressure sucked and the AC turned off/on every other hour (we reported this and even the maintenance guy observed that it wasn't on even though it was "motion-censored". The shampoo/conditioner bottles weren't filled so thank goodness we brought our own products. The only great experience was the service we recieved from Barry . He was the highlight and our saving grace throughout the entire stay. He was polite, friendly and accommodating and attentive to our needs. Would never return

The room was spacious, but the bed was small and the furniture was tired and worn. A lot of the carpet was stained with what might have been spilled bleach. The bathroom functioned well enough, but the shower grout was moldy and the wall was damaged (see photos). Parking is nearby - we paid $40 for overnight parking at the LAZ lot about two blocks away. You are walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops in/around the prudential center. For nearly $450/night all in, I'd almost rather have a smaller, nicer room in a hotel with a valet/adjoining parking lot. Undecided on if I'd stay here again.

Despite having alllll the things to do in Boston, I was excited to get back to that room and that bed, and I slept like a log. I like a good bed when I'm traveling and I would never stay at another place if I had the option. My favorite aspect was having a separate bedroom and living area (with pull out couch). All things comparable, I've stayed in a thousand hotels, I've traveled Boston thoroughly. This will be my go-to forever. Whether traveling single, as a couple, or with my kids, I will look at 284 first and foremost. Kid-friendly: yes! I would definitely stay here with my kids (ages 9, 11, 13). Safe, fun, welcoming, and wallet-friendly. Special bonus and wow impression: each room is themed after a different artist. I love love love this concept and intrigued me a thousand times over.
