My 16 year old daughters and I stayed here on an impromptu trip to see the CSUC campus. The staff at the front desk were friendly, the room has a fridge and microwave, lots of space for the three of us, fun view of the mini golf next door, and pretty courtyard to enjoy when things cool down. I preferred drinking the purified water from their work out area. The indoor pool had no circulation with fresh air or ac. My 4 star rating is strictly because the air around the pool was not pleasant. A bonus was having Dutch Bros across the street. read more

I've got a lot to say about this hotel. First of all, the check in process was super easy. The front desk girl was very sweet and answered all my questions. The lobby was impressive and it was nice to have a Starbucks attached. My room was clean and bigger than I expected. Paul mitchall products and nice soaps. Con: coffee in the room is not so great but there is a Starbucks downstairs and Dutch brothers across the street. Parking was easy and well lit. My car and I both felt safe. The next I was greeted by the front desk girl who remembered me name! Which means a lot. I had made a mistake with ordering my room. I called the front desk and they had it fixed in 30 seconds. I go back and forth on 3 or 4 stars. They did something a little different in terms of food... They have a beer and wine bar with limited menu. I like it since it is a step up from what some hotels offer, but it doesn't really seem efficient... The food was fine, a bit pricey, but then it is a hotel... They have happy hour which is excellent, who can complain about good deals on beer and wine! I will certainly visit again my next trip to Chico. read more

The p.m bistro crew has the worst customer service. My boyfriend stood in line for 20 minutes while the workers talked and took forever making other people's food. And once he asked if he could get his order taken, one of the girls said yes and then continued talking to her coworker. Definitely don't recommend going there after the morning shift is over. I was pleasantly surprised at the Marriott Courtyard. Nice lobby, rooms, indoor pool, small fitness room, coffee bar, etc. I had read other reviews about noise before going so knew to ask for a room that would likely be the quietest and was given a room on the top floor at the back of the hotel. I barely heard guests in other rooms maybe once or twice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Good proximity to Chico State - just a couple of miles away. My only minor complaints about the room are that the mattresses are too firm and the bathrooms need locks on the doors and ventilation fans - the bathroom smelled mildewy and didn't ventilate well at all with the shower running. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel is a huge plus. read more

Courtyard Chico was a pleasurable experience. I love staying at the Marriott hotels.

After making a reservation a week ahead our room wasn't ready when we got here they told us to come back in about an Hour and if something came up they would give us a call the lady that help us out was very rude about 2 hours later I called back and to my surprise they did have rooms available since the morning the rooms needed cleaning the location is great the mall and many other stores are nearby parking was a hassle no parking lots where available and we had to park outside in the streets and it looked sketch to leave the car outside of the hotels parking lots. read more

Here for work in Oroville and decided to stay here as it's super close to 99 and closest to Oroville. I checked in using the mobile app and was greeted with my key as soon as I arrived (no waiting and checking in). Just told the front desk staff my name and they handed me my key. Coffee in the morning at the Starbucks downstairs is good. Room is pretty large, clean and comfy. I had no issues with noise or dirt. I used the gym while I was here and it was sufficient. Not a full-scale gym but I wasn't expecting that either. Warm cookies in the evening are a wonderful surprise. I'll stay here again for sure. read more

I got a job to go up to Chico to make a documentary film. Our crew stayed at the Courtyard Marriott. I stayed in room 107 on the first floor. Turns out that I got scabies from the room. On day 3 of 5 of my stay I showed my rash to the front desk, suggesting it could be bed bugs. They said that they would have an "independent company" come in and check it out. Later that day when I returned nobody could confirm that they actually came. When I got back home I went to the doctor who said that I had acquired "developed scabies" that can show up within a day or two, likely from a hotel room because I was not in close contact with another person in the time period. Called the Marriott to let them know to clean out room 107 so you, or someone else, wouldn't have to go through the same hell that I went through with the itch. Talked to the manager. She said she'd have an insurance person call me back within two days. Ten days later . . . nothing. I called again. No return call. Called one last time. I think you get the point. So I understand why they would ignore my warning about scabies in room 107. Why would they want to show any kind of guilt in the matter? Bottom line is that this place apparently is okay with having live scabies in their hotel rooms, with management not really concerned about taking care of their customers. I'd rather sleep in a barn next time I'm in Chico. And so should you. read more

The rooms are just as I remember them. This hotel has served us for a few years now and we enjoy it. It is not something over-the-top special. It does get the job done though. There are minor detail needs, and an update would do them well. It really needs a good scrub down in the nooks and crannies. Besides that, I am always comfortable staying here. I do miss them having coffee available on the lobby all the time like they did a couple of years ago. And sadly you can only get coffee in your room or at the little Bistro downstairs that has set hours. As far as the bed goes Kama it sleeps quite well. The bedding is simple and comfortable and seems really clean. I do like the fact that they have a refrigerator and a microwave in the room. Our room also came with a loveseat and ottoman, but I'm not sure that all of them do. We were staying on the third floor facing the highway. This also had a nice view of a mini golf course. I do have to complain about the laundry facilities. There is only one washer and one dryer. It is nice that you can get free soaps & fabric softeners from the front desk , but you will spend a fortune trying to dry your clothes in the dryer. Before getting quarters I even asked the front desk attendant if the dryer would dry in one cycle. She told me it would. Meanwhile, her co-worker behind her was shaking her head no. I I went with the co-worker's suggestion and got $10 worth of quarters. I tried sitting in the indoor pool area to wait on my laundry because it is conveniently across the hall, but the smell of chlorine was too strong for me to handle. On a positive note this hotel is close to Sierra Nevada Brewing. Bottom line, we stay here because it is cleaner than the Holiday Inn in Chico and it is close to Sierra Nevada. read more

My daughter and I stayed here last night (room 205). The rooms were big, the beds were firm but comfortable and clean. There was a fridge, coffee maker and a microwave in our room (we didn't use any of them so I can't say if they were clean or worked). The bathroom was big and clean. For the most part the hotel was very quiet. However, in the morning I could hear just about every one on our floor in the shower. Water turning on, water turning off, etc. We were disappointed that there wasn't a free breakfast, only an overpriced "cafe". We did share an order of French toast and had some Starbucks coffee and the French toast was delicious. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again. I had to book a last minute room due to my college student daughter having an emergency surgery and our family lives in Los Angeles. My husband booked the room through Expedia which stated that the room was only available for one night. When I got to the hotel and explained my situation- that I was unsure of how long I would be there and that it was a day to day situation- they assured me that I would have a room. I ended up staying 2 weeks and not only did they make sure I had a room, but they kept me in the same room up until the last 2 nights. The staff is so kind and helpful, even the maintenance workers asked about our situation and wished us well. There is a Starbucks counter in the lobby and the servers knew my coffee order by the second day. There is laundry and they offer detergent for free. The gym is small but well kept. My rooms were clean, the towels were soft, the beds were comfy. The walls are thin, but it's a hotel. You've got to take the bad with the good, and in this case the good far outweighed the bad. THANK YOU Courtyard Chico for making a tough situation a little bit easier. You'll be our first choice in future stays. read more

This place is a health hazard and a complete joke. I had their "best" suite which included me finding hair all over the toilet and in the shower. Either fleas or bed bugs everywhere and OMG could not even believe the pull out bed. The mattress was filthy and the bottom was completely ripped to shreds. I couldn't even get the frame to go all the way down. When I called the front desk a punk named Justin said "F--k". Very nice. Then he told me to tell his manager and she'd "rip them all a new one". Great hotel training. The manager was 45 minutes late arriving in the morning and couldn't believe what I was telling her. This is not typical for my hotel. Really? How could one room have so many problems and it not be typical? Then throw in the completely unprofessional behavior of her front desk person this place is just not suitable for people to stay at. There are so many good things to say about the Courtyard Marriott and Residence Inn in Chico, CA. My son's wedding was in Chico on October 5, 2019. We had family coming from across the country and the world. Many stayed in the Courtyard Marriott or Residence Inn. We heard many comments about the professional, friendly and efficient the staff at both hotels. In addition, we had a meeting room that we used as a hospitality suite for the entire weekend. Working with Mr. Tambra Sellu from the Sales Office, everything went perfectly. The room provided a wonderful gathering place for family and friends throughout the weekend. I travel for work, so have collected Marriott points. This one was very good. It was extremely clean and well maintained. Two minor complaints: the hot tub was down the first night, but the Residence Inn is right next door and you can use their hot tub. Also, there was a dog on the floor crying at 1 am. The staff did try to locate the dog. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful and provided us a map (I had not spent time in Chico for over 20 years, so the map was great). I asked the front desk clerk about the Dutch Bros. drive thru coffee on the corner, and he told me it was wonderful coffee and that I should try it. What I liked about that is even though they have the new Courtyard Cafe/Bistro, he did not try to steer me to the Starbucks they serve. All in all, a good stay and I would definitely stay here again. read more

Not normally a big Marriott fan but since the family decided to make a quick one-nite trip to Chico to celebrate my bday and visit the Sierra Nevada brewery, this place couldn't have made our stay any better! Here are the four reasons why: 1) its located less than a mile from the brewery. 2) the staff at the check-in desk are super friendly and helpful. 3) the room was clean and comfortable. (And it even came with a fridge!!!) 4) free wifi. In fact, my wifey and I were joking that it was the 'Four Seasons of Chico'. We'd definitely stay here again. read more

I would give this place a minus star if it was available. My niece made a reservation and guaranteed it with a credit card a week before we arrived there. She and I arrived a half hour before check in time and we were told our reservation had been cancelled. We had not cancelled and was told other people with our last name must have cancelled it. We had our confirmation number and she said it didn't matter because they had no rooms left. We were left with no room and the clerk informed us no rooms were available in Chico so we would have to drive about 30 minutes to get a room. This not acceptable from this hotel so beware if you make a reservation here. read more

Have to say this to management loud and clear - Please put a mirror into the bedroom (not just in the bathroom) otherwise this is your typical, fine Marriott. The pool is indoors and smells horribly like too much chlorine, but fortunately guests can use the outdoor pool next door at the Marriott Residence Inn. read more

His hotel rocked. I have been in many hotels around the world and it was great to have a king sized, soft bed with a boat load of pillows. Nice large rooms, HD TV, pool, spa, etc. Staff very helpful, polite, and professional. French toast breakfast was excellent. If I ever come to Chico again, I will be staying here. read more

For a three star hotel this place was ok. It was clean, the bathroom was roomy and the bed was comfortable.

Very comfortable place to lay your head down at night. This Courtyard offers, clean, quiet rooms, at a decent rate. The fitness center is small, but the two treadmills and elliptical trainer were in good working condition. The on-site food selection is limited, however, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from within a ten minute radius. I would stay here again. The in-room whirlpool was a plus. read more

Got assigned to a room on the first floor. The room has a moldy or mildew smell. Bathroom smells worse. And when I turn on the water, the smell got stronger. I had to keep the bathroom door closed and hold my breath while using the bathroom. Room seems to be recently remodeled with new carpet and wall papers. Unfortunately the cleanliness is questionable. Kind of dusty and the sink and drains are stained. AC vents are dusty and dirty. Overall pretty gross. Makes me feel that I will get sick staying in this room breathing the stinky and dirty air from bathroom and AC vent for too long. Definitely not what I would expect from a Marriott hotel. read more

We have been staying there for the past few years at least 4 times a year visiting the kids. I love that when we walk in the door at 2:30 a.m. the front desk person remembers us. The snacks are helpful you can purchase late night. The hotel is centrally located and very clean. Love the free coffee in the morning. read more

I've stayed at this courtyard three or four times. I stay at bazillions of courtyards and don't review them, but I particularly like the front desk staff here enough to give a good rating. First off... the staff was very friendly and accomadating. Which doesn't always happen when you bring sixteen high school students to a hotel. Clerks were fantastic about allowing our group to use their meeting room and rather than the usual "we normally require prior notification" like we get at many hotels... they said "yes, do you need anything else for what you doing?" The rooms were clean and comfortable. The mini fridge is behind a cabinet door; so previous poster must not have looked hard enough. An included breakfast of some sort would be nice... but otherwise a great stay! read more

Rip off hotel!! You pay for everything here. No coffee or water in lobby; everything is ala carte. No breakfast either - you'll have to pay for that too. Small refrigerator in room. Ours had a broken door on the tiny freezer. Broken off drain cap in the bathroom sink, cracked tiles in bathroom. No place to prep food and no microwave to reheat food, so you're forced to buy the very expensive food in the lobby. Not at all close to a home. The only good thing for this hotel is leaving. read more

Worst hotel experience EVER!!!!!! Do not ever go here!!! A front desk clerk broke into our hotel room while my mom and I were at the pool and stole $385 out of my moms wallet!!!! They were very rude and unapologetic. We left after making a police report and they refunded our money for the room, but still awaiting compensation from Marriott! read more

I stayed here recently and can't say enough good things. The staff were incredibly courteous and helpful and went above and beyond to be helpful to me. I am incredibly fussy about the hotels I stay in and was concerned about hygiene but the beds/sheets etc were very clean and comfortable. I generally stay at high end hotels but of course in Chico there are none so I chose the Marriott and was really very happy with everything. I was also incredibly impressed they had menu items that I could easily veganize and the staff were very willing and understanding in taking care of that. The avocado toast for breakfast was excellent! Highly recommended. read more

I stayed here one night in April 2014. We didn't have a reservation and they were quick to accommodate us and find the cheapest room rate. I realized when we unpacked that I forgot my computer and had a bit a work to do. Downstairs in the lobby they had computers to use for free and I found a way to hack them in a way to send attachments (word documents) after editing them. I was then able to delete everything afterwards. I was down there for an hour or so with my impatient toddler playing on one of the computers next to me and watching YouTube videos. One of the workers walked over and I thought she was going to tell me that my 2.5 year old couldn't play on the computer. Instead she had a few coloring sheets, that she took the time to print off, and a pack of markers. The only reason they lost a star was because of not have free grub in the morning. I would definitely stay here a again. read more

BLACK MOLD bathroom floors by tub!! I've stayed in different rooms for several years and this NEVER IMPROVES. DISGUSTING

Although I do live semi local to Chico, I have stayed at this hotel several times and I always choose them for out of town guests looking for more room than my one tiny guest room can offer. I have never been disappointed - from check in to check out - the staff is always smiling and helpful. The rooms are very large with comfy beds and high ceilings and always very clean. I have no fear of walking barefoot in my room. There is a restaurant in the lobby that is open for breakfast and dinner (including a happy hour with lower prices). They do serve Starbucks and do offer several of the pastries (lemon loaf anyone) and can make a divine macchiato but they aren't set up for mobile app orders or Starbucks cards for payment. The food is pretty good. I have eaten breakfast and dinner at The Bistro and its lovely to not need to leave the hotel to enjoy a meal or a great cup of coffee or even wine. read more
