I have stayed here twice now. It is a very nice hotel. Everything is very clean, the rooms are big and the beds are comfortable. I like that the rooms have balconies too! I wish they had a complementary breakfast though. I got breakfast at the cafe they have and even though the food was good it was a little pricey. It was $23 for a coffee and breakfast sandwich. It would have been cheaper to walk across the parking lot to the McDonalds to get breakfast. Which that is one nice thing about this Hotel. Well as a reminder sometimes you get what you pay for. On a trip to Cincy with my mom we decided to stay across the river bc it was a bit cheaper. Great room with a balcony that faced the White Castle. The hotel itself was clean. The staff was friendly - they had some questionable suggestions for dinner but we rallied. This is near a train track it isn't horrible, but it is a bit loud at times. There was an incident the night we stayed, that was a bit scary - people yelling it started in the hall way and ended in the parking lot with the police being called. There is a parking garage, but Uber it pretty cheap to go across the river. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. Our first room was inundated with mold. It was disgusting. My wife who is allergic had a reaction literally as we walked through the door. We changed rooms only to have their staff banging on our door close to midnight asking if the room was occupied and when we were checking out. Huh? Apparent;y their staff member never updated the records When I complained to the ops manager, Michele Smith, she said all the right things and stated I would be credited for the stay. This is a great option if you're staying near the river and downtown but want to save a little money. The building and grounds are clean, well kept and modern. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. I like that they are following the more eco-friendly trend of putting pump bottles of shampoo, body wash, and conditioner in the shower rather than individual bottles as well. The meeting rooms are well appointed, though cold enough that I picked up a jacket for day 2. There's a small pool and fitness center (with free weights!) that were useful as well. Additionally, there is covered parking in their garage. The Bistro isn't anything particularly special, but it does have a nice selection of Starbucks coffees, bottled drinks and breakfast foods. I saw that they had evening small meals as well, but I didn't partake. The woman working the counter was especially great; friendly, fast and competent! Everyone was very nice and took care of any question quickly. The hotel sits right on the river and the area directly around it is a little sketchy. Once you walk 2 blocks, though, you're right on Covington's MainStrasse, which is a really charming street with quite a bit to offer. I would stay here again. read more

I would rate this an average property but wouldn't discourage people from staying here as long as you know what you're getting. First, every staffer we encountered was lovely - genuinely nice and friendly. Second - our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom could stand some updating but that's a challenge with an older property. Good shower pressure though. The parking garage is free but very tight to get in/out of. Good wifi signal. Third - the area was not "bad" IMO but there are definitely some sketchier types around. Just be aware, but that goes for any city. There are a bunch of fast food places within a two block radius and if you walk up Philadelphia St a few blocks you'll be in the historic area with plenty of nicer spots to eat and drink. Finally - you cannot escape noise here. This hotel is smack in the middle of several highways as well as a BUSY train yard. You could hear engine/train noise all night long. It won't matter what room you get, you will hear it. Bring earplugs. Overall - this was a convenient spot for us personally but quite overpriced. I think we paid something like $160 on a random off season night - $120 is about what it's worth. read more

It's great to know we can come Back at 2 am drunk and get taco bell and eat in the courtyard while ending our night of fun with friends. In town for a work trip and had stayed at a hotel twice the price of this one the night before... let me tell you this Courtyard is great! If you're in the area and the location suites you, this spot is perfect. Pros; - The staff is extremely nice, attentive, and helpful - They have a bistro that serves decent food and coffee - Both the lobby and rooms are remodeled; so everything is updated and very clean - The bathroom was spotless (better than the pricier hotel I stayed at the night before) - The soap they use did not dry out my skin like regular hotel soaps- lol winning - They have free parking that doesn't feel like you're in a scary movie - Price was great - WiFi Cons; -The surrounding area can be a bit sketchy is you are alone - Surrounded Mainly by fast food spots, but if you walk a bit you can find nicer places to eat. We stayed here for one night during a gymnastics event and it was ok. My main complaint was the charges for everything even though courtyards a usually include things like breakfast. I wasn't impressed with the way they charge for breakfast when it seems to be included when you book. The staff was nice and there was never a big wait even though they were busy. I would say this hotel was very average. The room was ok, but nothing special. It seemed clean enough, but we were only there for one night so didn't get to see much. read more

In a area where you have a lot of hotel options, and I mean a lot, this is a very nice hotel. Because of everything going on, nothing IN the hotel was open , (restaurant, pool/spa) so that kind of was a disappointment as it would have been nice to swim and relax, especially after sleeping in those rock hard beds. One of the most uncomfortable beds i've ever slept in, ended up using the hidabed that was in the couch for a better sleep. There is a train track out the back of the hotel that depending on where your room is, you can hear, but it wasn't all that bad. If you want food, you have a lot of options, you can walk 20 yards out front to White Castle and if that's not your thing, you can walk across the street to McDonalds, Taco Bell, GoldStar Chili, Chipotle, Burger King, Frisch's, The Waffle House, Riverfront Pizza, or Skyline Chili. (Highly recommend Riverfront Pizza, see my review for it) The hotel itself is very clean, they have stations all over the hotel for you to use hand sanitizer and they show you on the TV in your room how they cleaned the hotel and rooms. I always clean the area's that will be used upon entry in any hotel, with cleaning cloths and they are usually black with dirt by the time i'm done, NOT HERE, it was the cleanest hotel i've ever been in, and even thanked the housekeeping staff for what a great job they did on the cleaning. The staff however didn't visit our room during our whole stay, but every day when I saw them in the hall I just went and swapped out what was needed, (towels, TP, coffee and the like) they no longer use the small bottles of stuff in the bathroom, they have large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash inside the shower. They are on the wall in a way that they can't be tampered with and it looked like the bottles in the shower were brand new. It's Paul Mitchell products and they are awesome products. I will be looking for them in the stores as I really liked the body wash and the tee tree and mint shampoo that they used. Not a lot of options on the TV, but you get showtime and a HBO for free, so you can pick from a wide variety of options that they have (to stream) netflix also, you just have to log into your account, and even youtube was on there, so it was nice to be able to play some music that I wanted to listen to while having some of that great Ohio Beer before heading out on the town. They offer a shuttle to various parts of the city, but we just drove to where we wanted to go. You are close to a lot of great restaurants and places to see, so it's not that bad. Uber is having issues all over the place so it could be hit or miss with it, last year we had no issues getting ubers, this year we didn't use any. Nice place, something needs to be done about those beds, but it's super clean, the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, very nice people. Great place to stay and would recommend, maybe you'll like the beds, I guess I like something softer then a rock to lay on.. read more

Stayed here on a business trip. While checking in, the man upgraded my room so I'd have a river view. Overall, wonderful stay. My only complaint was not getting the $5 Starbucks reimbursement for selecting the eco friendly option one day. It wasn't a huge deal but would have been nice. We came for a short staycation over New Year's and found our stay to be peaceful and pleasant. Unlike some other reviews, we found it to be quiet, and our room was located on the side by businesses. Maybe sleep with earplugs. I would also suggest requesting a room on the river side just for the view. The rooms have been updated, so they are modern and ours was spic and span clean. The bed was comfortable and the room came with a mini fridge and microwave, but this also needs to be requested. Also nice are Smart TVs in the room, where if you have a Netflix or other subscription, you can make use of it for free. There is the bistro in the lobby for food options and tons of fast food options nearby and nicer restaurants not too far away. There is a whirlpool hot tub we made ample use of; my tip is to go during dinner time to get a private use of this and the pool. The garage is close, but my one complaint is you have to pay for parking. read more

This is a very good choice for a stay in the Cincinnati area. Right across the bridge from downtown - it is an emerging area with a mix of fast food and local spots. About 6 blocks away is a eat street with bars and local restaurants in a nice neighborhood. Parking is free and plentiful, rooms were nice (some with a view), and prices are reasonable compared with across the river. They have a nice breakfast which is included in the room rate, usually. read more

With the other hotels in the area, I would just avoid this one completely. The entrance/drop off is tiny and a few cars checking can cause grid lock. There's no room to maneuver. The lobby area is nice, but we didn't have a chance to try any of the available coffee or breakfast. There is a raised train track adjacent to this hotel and they run all night. It's very loud and can catch you off guard. It wasn't a pleasant "toot-toot!" every once in a while. It was a ground shaking vibration and sounded well, like a freight train. There's just no escape from it. Other reviewers mentioned that they were offered ear plugs, but there was no mention of the train or available ear defense. The TV is next to the bed, instead of at the foot of the bed and its a pretty awkward set up. The lamps and fixtures in our room were dusty and there was a stain on the seat of the office chair. The biggest offender was the mold-covered shower curtain liner. I'm not talking about a little mildew. I'm talking about mold covering most of the bottom of the shower curtain. We did mention it at check out and the staff seemed a little condescending when discussing it. We didn't ask for a comp or anything, but just wanted to let them know. We got the "Oh, well okay, Mrs. Jen F, we'll make sure to mention it to the housekeeping supervisor right away." Conventient location to White Castle for late night nosh. read more

With so many other choices in the Cincinnati area, I wouldn't stay here again nor recommend to a friend. The rooms are decent. The bathrooms are outdated. We stayed at the Courtyard while in the process of relocating. As is the Marriott standard, it was a clean, comfortable place to stay. It has a fitness room, indoor pool and on site restaurant, plus all the amenities of other Courtyards, and the added bonus of being very convenient to Cincinnati. The hotel also has a patio and gazebo for gathering outdoors. Although the Courtyard hotels are usually priced a bit higher than the Fairfield Inns (also owned by Marriott), the Fairfields are usually newer and offer complementary breakfast. read more

All she really did honestly was walk up and down the hallway and talk shit about coworkers while working. So Unprofessional and the floors are so full of hair probably hers. The first room they assigned me smelled of marijuana on the 7th floor, the entire hallway smelled like someone was smoking weed. The couch had stains all over, the bed linen was ripped and hanging down underneath, and the bathroom tub/shower looked disgusting, outdated and caulking coming off. I got assigned another room on the 5th floor that was a little bit better, but the last night I was there, it smelled like someone was smoking in another room down the hall. Upon arrival, the entire lobby was covered in white cellophane, it looked like there was some repairs or construction going on. Also, the gym was not usable the entire week I was there, all the equipment was wrapped up in plastic, it looked like they were painting the walls or something. The first night I was there, was starving, didn't eat all day because of the long flight, tried to go to cafe downstairs in the hotel, waited for a good 10-15 minutes before the employee came out from behind the wall, and she didn't even care that I was there, and didn't ask if I wanted to order anything. I then walked to the White Castle in the rain, and their lobby was also locked. So I went to this little restaurant that had chili spaghetti and they were very nice. I didn't bother going back to the hotel cafe the entire time I was there because of the lousy service. The prices on the menu were extremely expensive. I only stayed at this hotel for a week because my employer mandated me to. I do not recommend this hotel, it was unpleasant, would recommend going somewhere else. Also, one of my coworkers said he had bed bugs in his room at this hotel on the 7th floor. This hotel does not provide shuttle service, had to pay extra for an Uber. read more

I like to stay in Covington because it is close to Northern Kentucky, the West Side, and Downtown. However, if you are going to stay in Covington you have to be careful about where you stay. The area can be sketchy. Luckily the Courtyard is like an oasis in the midst of that sketchiness. Here are the pro's and con's of staying at the Courtyard. Pro's: 1) Friendly staff. I stayed over Christmas and even though they were working on a holiday they were nothing short of extremely pleasant during every single interaction. 2) Rooms. The room was updated, clean, and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The shower got good water pressure and the toiletries were Paul Mitchell. The rooms on the river side have an amazing view of the river and the Cincinnati skyline. 3) Full service Starbucks in the lobby. There isn't a free standing Starbucks in the area so this was exciting. 4) Free parking and WiFi. If you stay at the other Marriott property they charge you for these. The parking garage isn't guarded but you do need a room key to drive your car into the garage. Con's: 1) Trains. This is a BIG POTENTIAL DOWNFALL SO READ THIS CAREFULLY. This hotel is right next to a set of train tracks. All night long trains go by and they are very loud. The hotel is aware of this as evidenced by a little sign in each room explaining that they are aware of the problem. Every time a train went by my windows rattled, bed shook, and it felt kind of like a little earthquake. This isn't something that you will not notice. If you are a light sleeper then you should probably either stay somewhere else or ask for a room that is as far away as possible from the tracks. I actually slept through it because I have lived near train tracks most of my life. If I wasn't kind of used to trains I would have never been able to sleep. Overall this is a great hotel as long as you can sleep through the trains. I'll definitely stay again. read more

Location is not the greatest, and I agree with other Yelpers that it is expensive for where it's located. The beds are comfortable, I loved their Paul Mitchell toiletries, & they have a nice lobby. There is a bistro that is also expensive , but if you're a military member and book the government rate, you get free breakfast at the bistro ( limited selection of juice, coffee, or water and either yogurt parfait, cereal, or other minimal breakfast items). You can walk across the parking lot on the left side and follow that back road which leads you to the bridge to cross into Cincinnati. read more

This is a nicely updated courtyard. That sits next to railroad tracks. With loud trains that will make your whole room vibrate. Kind of something the hotel website should disclose, don't you think? Instead, you get a cutesy note in your room about it that starts out with "I think I can...I think I can..." Yup, they did that. There's free parking in their garage - just pull right in, the barriers are set to always be up. Free breakfast came with my rate, and you get a choice of one hot dish or two cold ones, and a drink. My bed was comfy and my room was clean, but I could hear the girls in the room next to me talking, and they were not loud at all. Oh, and although the hotel was dead, I was placed in a room level with the train tracks, three rooms down from the one closest to the tracks. Um, why?! So ya, nice hotel, but...TRAIN. read more

It was March. There was a blizzard. I was snowed in and stuck at the Cincinnati airport but Delta saved the day and put me up here for the night. It was my first time at a Courtyard and I'm a fan. Indoor pool, free internet, free shuttle to the airport. The staff was great and accommodating. They set up my wake up call and arranged for my shuttle. They also had amazing lemon soap (I know, SOAP!? It was almost heavenly). I'm almost tempted to buy it online at marriott.com. read more

I read some reviews online and I was prepared for the worst. I travel frequently for work, with many single night stays. 1st- the lobby has been completely remodeled. It is beautiful! The lobby extends to a beautiful patio area (obviously aavailable in-season). The pool is 20 steps away from the lobby and it too was gorgeous. 2nd-the hotel is located close to a train. In efforts to muffle the noise, Marriott has instructions in the room directing you to keep the fan in the "on" mode to help with train noise. I kept my A/C on all night, didn't hear a peep from the train. 3rd-the room was clean, had a view of the baseball stadium. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean, and not cramped (showed not too close to the toilet, which can make it difficult to navigate getting out of the shower). 4th-the drop off area is a little bit precarious, I can see where it may be a little problematic, but I had NO problem. Parkng is complimentary. 5th-free internet connection Would stay again if working in the area. read more

We used this hotel as a wedding guest room block in May and had an overall fantastic experience with them! Their prices for the room block were great, plus there is free garage parking for guests and they offered a free shuttle for our guests to and from The Madison, where we got married. The manager and event coordinator were both amazingly accommodating and everyone we interacted with was friendly. On Friday night, we had a room for the girls and room for the guys, then Saturday after the wedding, my husband and I booked the suite for ourselves (which they gave us for a regular room rate since we blocked so many rooms). On Friday, I asked what time we could get into the suite the next day so that we could move our things since we'd have to check out of the other rooms, and the manager just let us girls stay in the suite Friday night so we didn't have to mess with moving things around the day of the wedding! They also made a sign for our shuttle so guests knew the times and they passed out our welcome bags for free. They were also flexible with our room block dates and made sure everyone got the group rate even if they booked a little late. Little things like that go a long way when you're planning a wedding! I would definitely recommend this hotel to any brides getting married in the area! read more

What a bad experience! It started at check in, with a girl named Alex, she was so rude. I travel a fair amount, mainly staying at Marriott properties, which I like. I asked about an upgrade, based on my rewards program, that I have been involved in for years. She responded with a comment about me being a gold elite member, not platinum. Never heard this from any other property? I then explain that this is written into my membership program, but she didn't care, she just continued to tell me I'm nothing at "her Courtyard". I then asked for a water, which every location always gives with a goodie bag to gold elite members? She explained that she didn't do that, as I'm "only" a gold elite member. Thanks a lot! I will never return to your hotel on this alone. In addition, this is a very dirty property that smells really bad! The lobby is nice, the rooms suck! I won't be back. The towels smelled horrible; a burnt smell that was crazy strong. Btw, the hallway smelled like the carpet was rubbed with a dirty diaper, honest. It smelled really bad! The linens also smelled bad. Was visiting Newport for the aquarium and have to say this Marriott exceeded my expectations. Got to the hotel and they have a covered parking garage that is free with your stay. The front desk people were very nice and very knowledgeable about the questions we had about the area. We got a room on the 7th floor facing the river which also had a view of the train tracks. At night the train was able to be heard although It didn't seem to wake any of us up. The lobby was very clean and had a bistro where they served alcohol at night and Starbucks coffee in the morning. The room was very clean and had an updated modern feeling to it. The beds were comfortable and they had charging stations in the bedside tables. The shower had a permanent fixture that dispensed shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that all smelled great. The tv had internet capability so you could sign into Hulu or Netflix which we don't have but would be good for free movies. There was complimentary internet and a coffee maker with a mini fridge. The one downfall that this hotel had was that there wasn't any type of free breakfast or coffee in the lobby. The bistro did offer breakfast like bakery items from Starbucks and the you could order eggs, fruit, oatmeal, fruit and so on but the price was a little much I thought, The omelette with a side of potatos was around $11. We got a muffin, 2 bagels, milk a coffee and a Carmel macchiato for around $17. We didn't book the hotel for the food so it wasn't a huge deal, just a little disappointed in it.
