Don't read older reviews. I thought this hotel was newly built. It looks great on the outside and the rooms are the current brand new Marriott standard. I'm never enthusiastic about the bed facing the window instead of facing a side wall, because it makes watching the television a little bit more awkward. Marriott has tweaked this, by having the television on a slide out, so you can pull it forward a few inches, not much but a little, on drawer tracks, so you can angle it at least towards the bed. But you're still watching it in an unusual angle. People complained about the mattress. Honestly, it's no Westin mattress, but it's good. It's not as good as the one I have at home, and does not feel like it has much memory foam in it. I guess Marriott was looking for a specific price point. So why would I give this four stars? Simple. The employees here are fantastic. They're truly friendly. They're nice there Smart, and they do everything they can to help you out. Everything looks absolutely clean, spotless and brand new. We advise that there's no restaurants right in the parking lot across in the hotel. But if you look at Yelp, there's a ton of things nearby. A couple of decent restaurants in a fair number of fast food places. Overall, I would stay here again for sure. read more

We traveled to Gettysburg for our first visit and chose this location hoping it would be quiet. Unfortunately this location caters to bus groups of teenagers who travel with very few chaperones. This location doesn't offer the customary breakfast but does have a bistro that serves breakfast and a light dinner snacks. No pool - they eliminated it last year to add a conference room. The room I require has to be a shower or disability room so we were in between regular rooms. It was clean and spacious - comfortable bed. It could have been an adjoining room to the room next door. That left the soundproofing less than optimal, unfortunately. The bright spot is that it is located next to a good diner and a movie theater. Next time we will stay elsewhere. read more

The positive: our room was very quiet. The room includes internet tv (Netflix and YouTube). Check in was good and they gave us water and placed us on the top floor which is a request of ours that is rarely honored even though we are good members The negative: the fan on the top floor was screaming loud. And the floor of the bathroom was absolutely filthy. I thought it was just stained grout, but nope, just dirty. Considering this is a more premium level Marriot I expected better. We got in late evening to check in and the only room they had left was a Queen. We took it and to our surprise, it was a big room and lovely! But the highlight was the staff- Jenny checking me in, the nice young man who checked me out and the bartender and morning waitress who attended to our every need. Yes, the room was a little dated but it was clean and spacious. The bed is the typical Marriott mattress which, if you have stayed in a Marriott, you know you will have a wonderful nights sleep. Nothing special. Best thing about this hotel is the ice machine. A bit out-of-the-way from what you want to see in Gettysburg, but admittedly you do have to drive to get to the sightseeing spots anyway. Didn't have extra bedding in the room for the sleeper sofa, so I had to ask for it. For some reason, housekeeping didn't clean the room, so we had to ask for towels and more toilet paper. We were watching a movie as a family, and for some reason the TV abruptly reset with a greeting for another hotel guest not in our party. Front desk couldn't figure out why that had occurred. If we come back to Gettysburg we'll try a different hotel instead. read more

No complaints here. The Courtyard staff were very nice and accommodating. They even let us have a later checkout because my son's lacrosse game got pushed back. I really didn't feel like driving 3 1/2 hours with two sweaty smelly boys and their sweaty equipment. Donald, Linda & the other front desk staff are excellent. Super personable. The place is clean. The only reason for four stars is because the breakfast options are very limited, because they come from a Starbucks café. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich is premade and reheated. I had the most terrible experience here. On first impressions, the room was really cute and clean, but that is about where the positives end. I'm a Marriott Gold Elite member. There are specific remarks and requests on my account because I am a light sleeper. I specifically requested a high floor far away from elevators. They didn't even TRY to accommodate either request. They put me on the second floor between the elevator and a couple that were fighting violently all say and night (despite calls to security, it was never resolved). The walls are paper thin. Because of the location, I was awoken at least 4 times in the middle of the night due to drunken people yelling down the hallway, constant elevator ringing and noise from above me that sounded like a bowling alley. The noises continued until about 3 AM, and it was quiet until about 6 AM when the yelling and elevator traffic started again. So I got about 3 hours of sleep last night. This is a VERY NOISY HOTEL. I am blown away that my Marriott gold elite status didn't count for ANYTHING here. On top on all of that, the room layout is terrible. You cannot watch the TV from the bed, and the sofa is tiny and insanely uncomfortable. The only photo I took captures the essence of your likely experience at this hotel. Arguably the farthest hotel from the town center, the hotel is encompassed within what seems to be a dying office park complex. Immediately upon check-in, I was told bluntly, there isn't any maid service available; they kindly offered to provide more towels upon request. Almost each of my visits to the front desk revealed this sign. Most times I just went away, but on one occasion I rang the bell like Quasimodo, now running for office in that state coincidentally, but I digress. The hotel at a distance seems new and modernly appointed and so it is, but it's used hard and when you look closer has heavy wear. I stayed at this hotel two years ago and it was a little better. Rather expensive for the complete, do it yourself package...no breakfast, no maid service. And so on. One night when I asked why the back door wasn't locked (because the sign warns it will lock after dark) the nice lady at the desk said it doesn't lock until 11 pm ...wayyy after dark, and that she was the ONLY employee in the entire huge hotel. Worst Marriott property ever. If I could give this place a zero, I would. During the 5 nights we stayed here, the room never got cleaned once nor did we get any clean towels/washcloths. We never got any fresh coffee pods and this place doesn't have free coffee downstairs. We also wound up having to place overflowing rubbish in the hallway because it was never collected. A housekeeping cart sat in the hallway unattended for hours, never making it to our room. The same crumbs sat on the stairs for all 5 days and never got vacuumed. The pillows underneath the pillow cases were stained. There was mould in the corners of the tub and whenever one of us closed the door, the light next to the bed would turn off and then back on (yikes). To be fair, the front desk people were really nice and equally frustrated with the situation but there was nothing they could do about it due to understaffing (perhaps Marriott owners should not allow so many rooms to be booked when they don't have enough staff to cover it all). Marriott? You seeing this? Or don't you care about your declining quality and overworked staff (also common these days, there is a constant flow of unsuspecting tourist suckers to get money out of and there will always be more). Sadly, place is currently one step away from becoming a Motel 6 but with Marriott prices. read more

When I give four stars in this case it's not a fancy four star hotel but it deserves four stars for: - cleanliness - friendly staff - nice spacious lobby with a cute bar - dog friendly hotel (we brought our Rottweiler) - Convenient parking / access to main roads but far away enough to not get any noise from the road - big parking lot and grassy areas good for walking your dog and even letting him or her run off leash Negatives: - AC is a little loud - elevators are slow - layout of the room (which isn't super large) is a little bit strange / cannot watch TV from bed but tbh it's not a hotel I see people come and hang out all day in anyway - I like really hard mattresses and ours was on the softer side. So unfortunate. Seems they just gave up on this hotel. Excellent location and great opportunity to revitalize. One person was working the entire property. He was awesome and deserves a huge raise. Unfortunately the property is not kept up. The bistro is totally closed, paint peals everywhere, ac units broken, ice machines all out of order. Room was dirty, broken shower tiles, cracked counter, dirty carpets. I really don't want to go on. I truly hope Marriott realizes this kills the brand and they need to address hotels like this or they will permanently get bad names and this is not because of covid anymore this is because someone isn't doing their job as I'm Marriott loyal for 30 years so I truly do care read more

I think this may be my first yelp review ever. While I realize staffing shortages are a major issue, Marriott should pay more attention to how many rooms are being booked and keep the number manageable for the staff they do have. The hotel is not clean. Left over (used) bar of soap in the bathroom, hair on the floor, dust on the furniture, sticky carpet. All for over $300 for the night. I didn't sleep much because I was so put off with the condition of the room. The issues were reported to the front desk but there was no offer for compensation or even an apology. This was our first time staying at this hotel. Unlike some other reviews, I am only a Silver Elite and have been upgraded at other locations but don't expect it especially during a pandemic. The hotel is conveniently located off of Route 15 and just a short drive to downtown Gettysburg. There are two restaurants located right across the driveway from the hotel. Appalachian Brewing Company is the one we visited (they also have a location next to the battlefield) we loved the food and beer. As for the hotel, we did express check in and when we arrived we were handed our keys but also had keys sent to my phone which I love. It wasn't very busy but every staff member we came in contact with was courteous and friendly. Our king room was clean and comfortable. The sleeper sofa was sturdy enough that you would never know it is. The bed had a nice mix of firm, but comfortable and we both slept great. I will definitely be staying here again as we visit a few times a year and only live 1.5 hours away. read more

In the lobby, a couple of the tables could have been wiped down. No crumbs or anything, just rings left by cups. This was my 1st hotel experience since February (before COVID) & it went so smoothly! The hotel is located about 10 minutes away from Downtown Gettysburg- but it's not inconvenient at all. A quick drive to the battlegrounds & to Downtown. The hotel is in walking distance of a restaurant/ brewery & a movie theater! Customer service was fantastic and we felt very safe during our visit. There was a nice outdoor courtyard where we enjoyed a few beers & our room was clean & had plenty of room for 3 people & one pup. Oh yeah- this awesome hotel is DOG FRIENDLY. It was our first time taking our puppy with us to a hotel and it went so smoothly. He loved it here and so did we! I am not capable of walking around. But I counted 15 items on the badly stained carpet from our door to the elevator. Oh we asked for a room close to the elevator. My wife is a Marriott Silver elite. She has asked for a room adjacent to the elevator before. And the front desk around the nation has complied. But not here. The dust on the moveable stand drove me off the sidelines. Then my wife told me the shower did not allow the tub water to work. The toilet seat would not stay up. So what you ask? Well luckily I held it up with my cane. My wife had to help me out of the king bed. This is too big a bed for this room. I guess we won't be staying here anymore. The lighting Next to the Bed are useless. They switch on and off like crap. This is an average hotel, as far as I could tell during our one night stay there. Pros: it's very clean, the rooms are nice, it's a short drive to downtown Gettysburg and the Battlefield park, and the staff seemed friendly enough. Cons: they don't have a complimentary breakfast and the tiny coffee machines in the room don't do very much for coffee or tea. There is a little bistro that sells breakfast items (sandwiches, omelets, pastries) and Starbucks coffee (the food is NOT starbucks food, though) so at least they have that but I always enjoy a good continental hotel breakfast so the lack of that was disappointing. This hotel was awful. Upon check-in I told the lady I wanted the breakfast credit welcome gift for being a Titanium Elite Bonvoy member. She gave me vouchers for 1 person, I said, "don't I get for up to two guests?" She asked if another adult was traveling with me and I said yes and she huffed "well you did not tell me that!" No, but it is on my reservation, shouldn't you be able to see that on your computer there? Right after we checked in they called our room to ask us to move because our sink was broken. Why check someone into a room with a broken sink? We agreed and went and got new keys and packed up our stuff and moved to a room a floor up. That room did not have any toilet paper. They gave us a voucher for free breakfast for the hassle (which as discussed above, I am a Titanium Elite Bonvoy member, so already had $40 worth of credits for breakfast). The next morning we come to use the free breakfast voucher and the woman was screaming about how she was told to shut the menu down and we could only have cold stuff and "nothing up there" and pointed to the menu on the wall. I sat down to call Marriott Customer Service to complain by this point. While sitting in the lobby the frantic breakfast woman told another guest that he could have a breakfast sandwich or burrito. Both of these items were "up there" on the menu that she just told me she couldn't serve anything from. My husband went up and asked her and she was just confused and unapologetic. This review is solely based on the Wyndham Gettysburg's wedding venue and planning process. I wish there was an option to give 0 stars however there is not. Below is my wife and I's experience with our wedding planning process through the Wyndham. L We booked our venue through the Wyndham in May of 2019 and our wedding was August 22 of 2020 outside in the field in front the hotel. On August 8 we were informed by the wedding planner that there would also be a car show on the SAME day of our outdoor wedding. Keep in mind this is during a global pandemic. The wedding planner suggested we move the wedding inside in order to get away from the cars. This was completely unacceptable, the entire reason we booked through the Wyndham was to have our wedding outside. As you can probably imagine, my wife and I had many problems with this car show. First, car shows take months to plan as they were anticipating 1000 people to attend. Upon doing some research we found that the car show had previously been canceled in Allentown. How was it legal to have this car show in Gettysburg but not in Allentown? Something was definitely not right. For some reason, we were informed about 2 weeks before our wedding. This was an effort by the Wyndham to trap us by not letting us know until we were extremely close to our day. Second, how can it possibly be safe to have over 1000 people on the Wyndham property during a global pandemic? We brought the above question along with many others to the wedding planner however she was unable to respond. The wedding planner promised us a new spot outside for our wedding away from the car show. When we went to view it, it was down a side street, on a patchy and rocky plot of land with pipes sticking out of the ground. Clearly this was not what we had in mind. The above actions described by the wyndham were a clear attempt to trap my wife and I into having a wedding that was far from our vision in mind while also disregarding public safety rules and regulations put in place by the PA health department. I would NEVER recommend anyone having their wedding at the Wyndham because of their lack of honesty, lack of transparency, lack of value for their guests. read more

A typical courtyard by Marriott. Clean, friendly, and no free breakfast. If you're looking for free breakfast go elsewhere, Courtyards by design do not offer free breakfast because of their onsite Bistros. The bistros are very expensive for that you get, but if you are a Marriott Platinum or higher you can get a $10 per day credit instead of taking the welcome points at check in. Bistro is open for breakfast and dinner. This location has a pool and a small gym with two treadmills, one elliptical, and a pulley style weight machine. Located within the same parking lot is an Appalachian Brewing Company restaurant and a movie theater. Location is close to downtown Gettysburg and an exit away from the shopping outlets. The rooms do not have microwaves and only have a small fridge. Marriott rewards members receive free WiFi. read more

I'm a Marriott Titanium Elite member, and I trust the Marriott name. As for this particular Courtyard, overall it just barely meets what I consider Marriott standards. We had a suite, and it was typical Courtyard, but,,, it, and the hotel itself had issues. Nothing heart stopping, but, things like ice machines (yes multiple) not working, the bathroom had just two towels for showers (tough when there is 2 of you), the shampoo is the tiny bottle (again, tough when there are 2 of you). The hall way had grease spots on the carpet, and the overall cleanliness was, in my option, just at the minimum. None of these things were deal breakers, I know I can go to the desk and get what I need, it's just the entire concept of minimum, that sorts hit a nerve. It really felt more like a motel 6 then a Marriott. read more

Had a nice one night stay here a few weeks ago. The lobby was very spacious and obviously brand new but it also seemed really dark when we arrived (around 10:30pm). Maybe it just seemed really dark because the restaurant was closed. Our check-in was ridiculously quick. Almost too quick. The agent clearly wanted us in and out and not have much more to do with us. The room was appointed well though it did have an "old" style TV which surprised me because the whole hotel seemed so new. The beds were comfy and I slept like a log. We didn't interact with many other staffers and didn't use the hotel for much more than sleeping but it was a good experience. read more

This was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. The tub didn't drain when I was running it for a shower. I ended up standing in knee deep water because it still wouldn't drain even when I got in. There are brown stains all over the comforter, I found a dead bug in my bed and there were nasty looking hand prints on the bathroom door. I highly doubt they cleaned well. Let me start by saying, the woman at the front desk gave us free breakfast,Allison in house keeping took care of it immediately, her supervisor helped and, they were all wonderful. That said, I checked the bed and there was blood on the inside of the comfoter, a dirty tissue half way under the little pull out couch which itself was cover in chips and, the floor looked like it had not been vacuumed in a week. Sure if we were at a $50 a night place, this would make sense. Well for over $200 a night it should be clean!! There were also a few random curlies in the bathtub but we figured we could wait the 2 hour ride to get home and take a shower. We were prepared and had our clorox wipes so everything else got a good wipe down. Allison said she would take care of it but, wie told her we knew she was busy with other rooms and we would do it. Sometimes you just need to help out those really great workers. You are awesome Allison! We were told the manager for house keeping was going to recheck the room but never saw him or her. That was ok. The supervisor and Allison took care of it without needing the manager standing there doing nothing. So I would say we wouldn't stay there again. If the econolodge is open, you probably are better served there. This facility is a franchise property in which the ownership does whatever it pleases to make the greatest profit - they cut every corner, they cheat any Marriot loyalty member walks in the door. Except if you have 30-40 people you like to release to run the halls of the building or pets you like calling necessities. I had bad experiences here before, but figured I'd been away long enough and there was sufficient personnel turn over to effect a difference - I was wrong - this leopard's spots run to the bone. Now, IF you're there, and you encounter an issue, they will sing you a song like a siren - wont DO anything about it, save suggest you try another motel. Which is what I started with. This Courtyard is one in name alone and I can't believe Marriott let's them drag the name like they get away with. Shippensburg is WAY more responsive to their Marriott customers, too bad they are 40 minutes away. I frequent Marriott hotels because of my status with them and I try to maximize my points with them. So I chose this hotel while going to Gettysburg for a weekend. The location isn't bad wish it was closer to city center but no complaints since we had our car. It's around a lot of restaurants and nearby attractions. Plenty of parking and check in was smooth (even was able to check in early). Staff were friendly. They have a bistro with limited hours but a very small snack and beverage area. Nice outdoor courtyard. They had a pool but we didn't visit it. The room was nice and modern. King size bed. Nice comfy couch and our view was the theater and I think a restaurant across from them. Bathroom was okay. Nice size but not as modern as I would have expected. Loved how the bed faced the window. Kind of small room but we barely were in it. The bed sucked. Worst hotel bed ever. My husband and I woke up with back aches and I kept waking in the middle of the night. The bed was way too firm. Pillows way to soft. The air conditioner felt like it was barely working. However all in all it was a decent stay. Nothing too bad (except the bed) but nothing above and beyond which is what I expect from a courtyard. My night was free as I had a certificate for a free night so not sure of price and I think because it was free maybe I was less picky in my review. read more

The Courtyard Gettysburg is a fairly new hotel located off of York Rd in Gettysburg. It is located right next door to the Wyndham, a movie theater, and a catering hall. I have spent many a night in Courtyards all over the place. In fact, I've spent around 150 nights in hotels so far this year. Overall, this Courtyard is exactly the same as every other one that has been built or updated recently. The furniture is the same, the toiletries are the same, and the room layout is pretty much the same. If you have not stayed in another Courtyard, I will say that they are fairly nice, as far as hotels go. They are a midrange hotel. They are not full service hotels, so they do not have an onsite restaurant (although they do serve breakfast - not included - and have a bar that's open in the evenings). I'm very picky about hotels that I stay in and I have to say that this Courtyard and every Courtyard I've stayed in (so far) are good hotels. They are definitely better than a Fairfield Inn, but of course, they are not as good as a full service Marriott, Renaissance, Westin, etc. This hotel was a great value, you get way more than what you would expect for the price. I only paid around $120 per night including tax. Like most non-full service Marriotts, they have a small market in the lobby where you can purchase microwaveable food (there is a microwave in the market that you can use), soda, ice cream, candy, and trial size items. Now that I've told you how this Courtyard is exactly the same as every other hotel, let me tell you how it is different. The staff is very courteous and helpful, I was treated very well as a Marriot Rewards Platinum member. There is plenty of free parking right at the hotel and you can walk (or drive) right across the lot to a movie theater. There is free wired internet in every room, which is definitely nice to have. If I'm in the Gettysburg area again, I will be staying here. read more

I was surprised that the king room pull-out couches were only twin sized. That became inconvenient for us. My biggest issue is the fact that housekeeping "forgot" to clean both my family's rooms, despite having the housekeeping signs out on the doors. When we called the front desk late that afternoon they admitted they forgot and they made arrangements to clean it when we went back out to dinner. But still, they never came back. Also the pool was closed for a good portion of one of the days we were there, which was a let down to my children. This review is regarding the bistro (restaurant inside the hotel), not the hotel. My wife and I came to dinner after a long day on the road. We didn't want to go somewhere else, so we thought we would try it. They were out of their burger and three main items on the menu. There wasn't much left. We ordered a chicken quesadilla as an appetizer, which was by far the worst I've ever had in my entire life! The chicken was rubbery and I had to send it back! We ended up getting a chicken pot pie as the main course and on a scale of 1 to 10, it was maybe a two or three! Eat somewhere else!! read more
