My husband stopped here today to grab us a late dinner. The guy that worked there was super Duper friendly and I took a long time deciding and he was very patient. Ended up getting a cheeseburger, onion rings, chili, cheese, fries, and a kids teriyaki bowl. Let's start with the good. The chili cheese fries are phenomenal. Their chili has a perfect level of spice, a super meaty with no beans. It's melting and gooey and warm and the portion size is good. I would happily come back just for this. The onion rings on the other hand we're disappointing. They were large and they actually look like they're homemade, but they were so limp and as you can tell from the color, not cooked enough at all. I like my onion rings to be crunchy and these were nothing of the sort. Play definitely have potential there if they cooked them longer. The cheeseburger was fine. As you would expect from a roadside stand. Nothing special, but nothing offensive. It's a little hard to judge the teriyaki bowl because it actually didn't come with this famous homemade sauce. It was just plain chicken on top of rice. I thought the chicken was kinda flavorful, but it was a little thin, so kind of dry. And the portion size was not great even for a kid. Definitely needed more meat and less rice. I did get two other sauces. One was kind of like a sweet-and-sour and the other one was... I'm not actually sure because I was too afraid to taste it. Maybe like a chili sauce? It was thick like salsa. But nowhere in my bag was there the teriyaki to be found. I feel like if your name is best teriyaki you should make sure you put it with your rice bowl. Would definitely come back again for chili cheese fries. I don't know if I would eat anything else. After a really fun Rosedale tour, our heroic realtor decided to reward us w the ultimate edible treat... a lunch trip to Best Teriyaki. Bold name, right? Nice spot hidden at the base of Azusa Canyon and a local favorite. This place is focused on putting out a delicious teriyaki meal from a small building with only a kitchen, a pay window, and outdoor seating. Nothing fancy, but fantastic teriyaki glazed food. I ordered the chicken special, because all the staples were included. A side of macaroni salad, a lettuce salad and an egg roll. The Mac salad was simple, not overwhelming, but made just perfect. The salad was fresh a slapped with thousand island dressing. You can sub with fries if you like. Now to one of my highlights. This egg roll was perhaps the perfect egg roll. (I've had a lot of egg rolls). Sitting on top of the rest of the food, I expected soggynedlss but it was perfectly crispy all around. The inside vegetable fillings was nice a warm and scrumptious. The sweet and sour sauce was provided too. Wow, I would go back just for this just to see if they make them this consistently good. Now the chicken. First bite had a nice char on the outside, followed by the perfect tenderness on the inside. The teriyaki sauce was standard, not overly salty or thick, but just right. This is a very cute place with outdoor seating via park style picnic benches. I'm from the desert and very accustomed to lizards. Being a desert dweller, I can only assume my lunch date was more of a iguana chilling in the seating area. My first time here and I went with a Beef Teriyaki bowl. Moved away from Azusa a while back, but from time to time I'll come back to this spot for a little nostalgia hit. This place has been around for years, and I always get the same thing which is the teriyaki with fries plate. The sauce is their own thing, they make it in house and is thick and sweet. It's a cash only spot and fairly busy--you don't really come here for ambiance or service, it's fast and tastes great. When I was younger it was an older couple working the stand, nowadays it's all younger folks and they're just moving food. It's probably always gonna be a go to for me when I'm in town. Since we weren't in the mood for teriyaki, we got the street tacos: 2 chicken & 2 Carne Asada. They were disgusting. We choked down 2 & threw the other 2 out. Unfortunately this place has fallen very short with food quality. Customer service has and always been very mid but the food always made up for that. HOWEVER, sadly it is just not the same anymore. My last and final visit was such a heart break. I order the SAME exact items you see in my previous post (my go to) but everything was a fatal disappointment. Fries were old and oddly had different type of frozen fries, bag was basically empty not it's usually full bag. My all time favorite bacon double cheeseburger was sloppy, missing mostly all ingredients, meat was cold only 1 patty, no bacon, lettuce was one thick slab, welted and soggy, No dressing, BASICALLY a huge disaster. Mac salad was OLD and unusual, assuming I was served Mac salad that's been sitting for a week... or one that they didn't make right, it had an odd smell, noodles were down right old and visible ingredients were missing... needless to say they only scooped a small dollop of it not their usual scoops!
