Found this place on Craigslist when my garage door started closing funny. I called 3 places and chose him because he sound the friendliest (though oddly all 3 people had the similar voices). I was amazed he would work such late hours. This was not an emergency but if it was I'd be very grateful. Matthew was awesome. I called Covenant at 6pm and he came out at 9pm to fix my door. My garage door broke and as it turned out that was just the symptom of many issues: tension spring snapped, cables were fraying, wheels were old and not moving properly. All these contributed to the end result of my garage door hinge breaking and coming off the panels. On the way of dropping of our child at soccer club, we were a bit in hurry and bumped into the opening garage door which was back then neither opening nor closing, leaving it at half-way open state. Bye bye soccer club. We used Google Home Services and Covenant Garage Doors was one of the first three listed. I immediately got a text message while the other two service providers didn't respond. Early bird gets the worm. The technician came by to fix the garage in less than an hour. He was actually on a trip with his family and came back just to fix our garage. Rather than having some great time with his dad, his children were waiting patiently in the car for an hour and played a bit with their skateboards. I felt really sorry for ruining their weekend, and I owe them a 5 star plus for it. The work was great and the garage door is working fine without any issues. read more

My garage door was getting stuck going up and down. I selected this company based on the fact that they were listed in the resource book of my homeowner's association, as well as the high reviews on this site. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place based on my experience. You can judge for yourself from my story whether you think this is satisfactory service. When Matthew came to my house, he felt that I needed to have the rails and rollers completely replaced, as they were coated in lubricant by the previous homeowner and already experiencing corrosion. He seemed to think this would fix the problem of my door not going up or down. So I spent $900+ having those replaced. When Matthew left, the door was going up and down just fine, but by the next morning it was getting stuck again. I placed two calls to Matthew and never received a response. After a couple days of waiting, I ended up having to call the main number and spoke with someone there who said he would get Matthew to return my call. By the time Matthew did call, it was Friday, and Matthew told me I had to wait until Monday for another appointment. Monday rolled around, and Matthew did not show up to the 4 PM appointment. I called him at 4:30, and he told me that he was not able to reschedule me at that moment because he didn't have his calendar with him. He told me to text him with my e-mail address and he would e-mail me the next morning with an appointment time. Sure enough, I received no e-mail from him the next day, and ended up calling him again. He was all apologies again, but said that by then, he couldn't reschedule me until Thursday at 8 PM. But by 8:25 PM on Thursday, Matthew still had not arrived and had not called. I call and get no answer, leave a voice mail. A few minutes later, he called back to say he had completely forgotten to call me and tell me he wouldn't be coming. At that point I told him I wouldn't be needing his services any longer. He left a voice mail which I listened to this morning, saying that he had had an "emergency," that his truck had been towed and he had had to cancel every one of his appointments that day. I called another company (also highly-reviewed on Yelp) and when they came out, they pointed out that the rails on one side were not bolted into the wall at all and were loose and wiggling in places; and that the sensor bracket had not been bolted into the wall either (therefore the sensors were misaligned). They also told me that they would have replaced the rails and rollers for about half of what I paid. I'm a single mom of three kids under 5, so I don't have lots of time to do research, but I hoped it was a good sign that I got Covenant's name from my HOA resource book as well as Yelp. I will be alerting my HOA to my experience. read more

I had them come out for a followup to a visit based on a reasonably good experience the first time. This time they sent a relative novice who 1) did not diagnose the entire problem 2) replaced our broken spring with a different (smaller set of springs) than original set without informing me 3) behaved immaturely when questioned on the work performed 4) had to call office to resolve issue who complied by trying to fix the issue with a quick fix and promptly provided a necessary replacement part 5) Tried to pawn off a quick fix as the complete job which failed to resolve the original issue. After full payment I have a smaller set of springs replaced than the original and the garage still doesn't open. He told me I was lazy because I expected the garage to work with the remote! My building contractor referred me to Jonathan and Mathew to install new garage door and opener.. Mathew was supposed to be provide a quote on a Friday morning and was no show for the the appointment. I had to take permission from my work and drive 12 miles for this appointment. A phone call or an SMS would have have helped. I was subsequently given a Saturday appointment. Matt came in within the 2 hour appointment window and provided the quote. I had a new build home and I had problems with my garage door opener from day 1. I always called the same contractor who installed it. Since install, I've had 4 service repairs. My opener was finally dying a horrible death and this time the original contractor called me back with a person who knew nothing about the products they carried, or what the difference was between opener types. Geez! So I called Covenant late on a Saturday and John got me scheduled for Monday and with a replacement recommendation based solely on the details I was able to give him. Day of the install I was nervous because I was going from a chain drive to the recommended belt drive, and the work was to replace the entire system. Glen was the installer and he was fantastic. Very knowledgable and polite. He explained everything about why the belt drive was a better choice for my home type (townhome with living space above garage), while he worked diligently. He made me feel comfortable with my purchase. This install was not easy for him either (thanks to the original contractor's terrible install work), but he didn't get flustered and come up with awesome fix. He did everything right, quality workmanship. To help reward Glen and Covenant for the great work, I requested didn't hesitate to add new rollers and an outside keypad to boot! I called their east bay number and got someone on the phone at 9:30am on a Saturday, and they gave me a time slot from noon-1pm, with the warning that they might be closer to 1pm. At noon they arrived to replace my broken spring. They also replaced the rollers and cables and they were done by 12:45pm. The upgraded rollers made the door more quiet than it has ever been. The installers Jonathan and Glenn were professional and fast. Highly recommend their east bay team. read more

1021/2015 Update on previous review: I recieved a call from the owner on 10/20 in regards to the review I posted on 10/15. I believe Jonathan was his name and he was very apologetic to the little misunderstanding I had over the phone. He agrees that call wasn't handled properly and that the torsion springs should last more than 4 years so he promised to have someone check my garage door the next day and offered the service at no charge. Matthew came the next day and explained a little bit about the issue I had with the call then he proceeded to work his magic on the torsion springs. Therefore, with the exceptional service and extra effort they made, I'm changing my review from 1 to 5 stars again. It was just a little misunderstanding and I'm glad that it got resolved. Covenant proved that they do care about their loyal customers. Will definitely call them again if I have any other issues with my garage door and will recommend them to families and friends. Thank you! 10/15/2015. One of the torsion spring broke after 4 years. Both springs were replaced by Covenant on March 2011 and I was told that they should last more than 10 years easily. I called Covenant and told them about the broken spring and asked how much to replace 1 spring only. I was quoted by a gal for $150 and then I mentioned that there is a Yelp ad on $100 for $150 deal. Then she said "oh with the coupon it's $200". Okay I'm not a math genius but that will bring it out to $150 still with the coupon so I'm not getting a discount at all. I don't think there's such a thing as loyal customer with this company coz the gal I spoke to didn't even care. I'm probably okay if they accepted the Yelp deal and save myself $50 but even if I do pay the regular price of $150 to replace 1 spring, thinking about the quality of springs they used - that doesn't even last for 5 years then I don't think I'll call them again. By the way, I do spray those springs with oil/lubricant as suggested by the last installer that's why I'm really bummed that it broke so soon. The springs still looks spanking new! I may say that this is the test of time on the quality and services they offer and for me, they failed! read more

We called Covenant Overhead Doors after 4:00pm on a Sunday after our garage door had come off it's track and would not close. And in 38-40 degree weather, leaving the garage door open for the night was not an option. John said he'd be out by 7:30 but probably forgot how far it is to Morgan Hill so I either expected him to bail and try to schedule something for the next day... But John came to the rescue and had our garage door fixed by 10pm. We've been using John at Covenant for a few years now and I'm finally writing my review. Wow these guys saved me! I called two "emergency" places with 24 hour service when I accidentally knocked our garage door off it's track and had it stuck in the halfway position (car stuck in garage). One couldn't help me for 13 hours and another didn't even answer their phone. Please note it's only 9pm at the time so nothing crazy like a 2am call. Then I see Covenant is open until 11pm and I'm like "woo hoo! Please be the one!" Very nice lady answers the phone, says someone can make it out within the hour. Yes! This guy makes it within the hour, really knows his stuff, and makes it worth my while to get this done before tomorrow. There's nothing I love more than to agree to a 2-hour window on a SATURDAY where I wait around only to have your irresponsible employee pull a no-show. At ten minutes after the end of the window, I call the dispatcher and she has the technician call me. I should have known better than to agree to another appointment that day but I did. 2:30 PM was our next appointment and it came and went. TWO NO-SHOWS IN ONE DAY! How do you stay in business? This isn't 1978. We all have mobile phones and your employees should be professional enough to call and advise the next customer if they are running late. These guys were pretty prompt when we ordered them. Got here within 5 minutes. They came here at midnight and worked into the night until 2AM! Our guy Raymond did a really good job. He checked everything and tested out the garage door for any problems. Moreover, he offered to install new rollers for a discounted price. I have to say I'm very satisfied with that. They said they could have someone out between 9pm-10pm that night. The tech that was sent to do our job, Raymond, was right on time and instantly saw our problem. My wife came home and realized that the garage door was not opening which means I can't go out either. I saw one of the spring was broken in half. After I checked the reviews on Yelp, I called Covenant and talked to Johnathan. He was very knowledgeable about the problem and gave me the quote with discounts and setup the appointment for next day at 9am. Matthew called me around 8am to see if he can come early. I said, why not. He came after 15 minute and checked my garage door. The door was installed more than 15 years and the rollers, ball bearings and drums were worn out. His recommendation was to replace them all for the new springs to last longer. I went with his suggestion and answered all my questions. I came home and realized that my garage door was not working. I looked inside to see a broken spring. I called Covenant after reading the reviews in Yelp. Matthew from Covenant came at 1 pm as we agreed and showed me that the previous installation was quite faulty. The cables had not been hung properly and the springs were not the right ones. He gave me a reasonable quote and completed the job in less than an hour. At the end of the job, he cleaned the work area and the garage door. He showed me how to take care of the garage door by lubricating once every 2-3 months or so. After it was over, he helped fix the keyless entry as well! All in all, a good end to what could have been a frustrating day. Very happy with the service Matthew and Covenant provided! read more

I had my garage opener installed 3/2/13 by covenant and the spring broke 8/14/16, 'called them and set me up for the next day appointment (10:00 - 12:00), waited and waited, then i called them @11:45 and they said no tech. available (they never bothered to call me). So, set up an appointment in the next 2 days (8:00 - 10:00) waited and waited, called them and gave me the same excuse again, I beg to the supervisor to expedite my request but they said, tech will be available in my area before 6pm today (8.17.16). HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL, WILL NOT RECOMMEND I have a Liftmaster garage door opener. The chain had fallen off the wheels so I needed someone to come and fix it. After reviewing it online I called Covenant since their initial price of $59 service fee looked competitive. The guy came in the next day (2hrs late but he called in the morning to mention that) and upon inspection mentioned that the gear and sprocket assembly for 1/3HP chain drive needs replacement and charged an additional $200 for it and clearly mentioned he was charging that for the part only. Since there was no time to check if it was the right cost, my wife trusted him and authorized the charge to just get it fixed. Later in the evening when I checked online the part was listed for $25 on most websites. I felt I was cheated and called them back the next morning requesting a refund but the person refused to acknowledge it and his excuse was that they do this all the time !! I called him twice back after that to request to atleast honor the $50 off that they have advertised on Google but he just put the phone down both times. Very unprofessional behavior, cheating you with rediculous pricing and unwilling to listen to customer concern once the job is done. WIll NOT recommend them to anyone. I am filing this matter in a small claims court immediately. read more

I had a broken spring. The technician from Covenant Garage Doors was polite and professional and very thorough. After replacing the springs he took care of loose screws and also made an adjustment to release the pressure on the axis (which caused the door to sometimes come up again and was frustrating).
