We don't eat at this location often. There are many options around, and I have had consistency issues in the past where sometimes the chicken was dry or the meal wasn't very satisfying. However, they offer delivery and they have rotisserie chicken. Both of those things can be a rarity at your typical restaurants. Last week was a hectic one, so we decided to give them a shot and order in. My husband got the BBQ Drumsticks Plate for $7.49 with fries and corn fritters. I got the Quarter White Plate with Twice Baked Potaters and Corn Fritters for $7.99. The portion to price point has never been an issue. It's always filling and I always have some left over. I didn't try any of my husband's but the BBQ smelled great, intoxicating really. This time around the chicken was perfectly moist and tasty. It was easy to cut with the bright orange plastic ware they provide. The corn fritters have never disappointed, if you let them cool a bit, the texture is wonderful! If you have them when they are still piping hot, they can be a little runny. The twice baked potaters have always been one of my favorites and have never disappointed me in the past. This time, however, they were bland and a little mushy- cafeteria reminiscent if you will. I don't go to this location in person because the area is very crowded. There are many business around and the parking lots can get clogged and aggravating. So this review isn't over atmosphere or service, as I have never dined in, ever. In regards to delivery, they could be faster, but I didn't wait too long for a Monday night and can't recall ever being impatient with past deliveries. You can get a good meal here, but consistency is important and if I'm going to give you my hard earned money, I want to know that I'm getting a certain expectation every single time. I certainly don't mind giving them additional chances. In fact, due to the menu (I don't always want fried), I'm certain I will eat here again. I love to visit Cowboy Chicken whenever possible as there is not one near my home. The food is always great and fresh! I stopped at this location which I have been to several times to grab a salad. Was told they were out of corn - no big deal for me but when I opened my to go order after leaving the restaurant I was very disappointed. There was hardly any lettuce and looked like half a normal portion. I literally just ate at the one on Greenville avenue 2 weeks ago and ordered the exact same thing and fortunately I got a great meal that was worth the price I paid. I have eaten here about 5-6 times since it opened and it was usually pretty good. I have picked up a whole chicken to go twice. The first was several years ago and the chicken was so salty we had to skin it to be able to eat it. I decided that was a fluke and yesterday stopped to pick up a whole chicken. It was absolutely disgusting. So overcooked the bones on the wings crumbled in my hand. The meat was so dry we could not eat it. I've eaten at this Cowboy Chicken three times now and have mixed feelings. The first two times I ate at the location and most recently had it delivered. The first two times were great; the chicken was delicious and moist (confused by the dry chicken comments!) and the sides were great. However, my most recent experience was not nearly as good. I got it delivered. I entered my order, my phone number, my apartment gate code, etc online and it was a fairly simple process. When my order arrived (on time, which was a plus!), the delivery guy told me that in the future, make sure I provide my phone number an/or gate code so that he can get in. Ummm...what? I'm pretty darn sure that I provided it! So I checked my receipt and it was printed right on there! It felt a bit like a lecture from the guy, so I can say that I'm not super pleased by that. When eating my chicken, I was grossly disappointed to find a very long, brown hair in it. I know that accidents happen, but I do not enjoy getting a lecture and a hair all in one sitting! If I were to base this review off of my first 2 experiences, I'd give this place 4 stars. I will not continue to eat at this place if I have more experiences like this. read more

The chicken itself was a bit dry as they try to compensate by putting too much BBQ sauce on it. The sauce itself wasn't anything special as it tasted like it was out of a bottle and not homemade. The sauce had a bit of hickory spice kick but wasn't lip-smacking. The legs itself weren't very large as I had an expectation of plump legs like you normally get a grocery store. The sides were a bit better. The cream spinach was very tasty. The sweet potato is just 1/4th of a sweet potato, no butter of any type. Got a quarter chicken combo and tortilla soup. The chicken was decently flavored, nothing special, but dry. The tortilla soup was alright, but very bland. The corn was bland and tasted and looked like canned corn with no seasoning added to it. The ranchero beans tasted very bland, again like no spices were added to it except a little bit of heat. The bread was served cold and was dry and flavorless. All of this was served at temperatures from cold to lukewarm. They also had Fox News on, definitely not what I want on TV while I eat.
