Got a quarter chicken combo and tortilla soup. The chicken was decently flavored, nothing special, but dry. The tortilla soup was alright, but very bland. The corn was bland and tasted and looked like canned corn with no seasoning added to it. The ranchero beans tasted very bland, again like no spices were added to it except a little bit of heat. The bread was served cold and was dry and flavorless. All of this was served at temperatures from cold to lukewarm. They also had Fox News on, definitely not what I want on TV while I eat. We love Cowboy Chicken and are very happy they decided to come to Denton! They're famous for their enchiladas, and there's a reason, they're super yummy. I know green beans are green beans, but theirs are delicious, and I'm a green bean connoisseur. I even got green beans in my Christmas stocking and Easter basket when I was little. I ordered delivery, so I can't speak to things like speed of service, quality of service, or dining environment. However, I can speak for the food. It's terrible. Absolutely, mindblowingly, rather impressively terrible. I ordered: (a) whole chicken; (b) mac and cheese; (c) corn fritters; and (d) peach cobbler with ice cream. CHICKEN: The chicken was too salty and very dry. I'm not talking about "could be better" dry, I'm talking about "cardboard" dry. So dry I was having a really hard time swallowing. I purchased a whole chicken, and am planning to repurpose it as wraps, sandwiches, etc. It is inedible otherwise. MAC AND CHEESE: My grandmother would love this. Why? Because she'd be able to eat the entire bowl without chewing. Perfect for senior citizens worried about their dentures. The macaroni was so overcooked to a point that you could eat it without chewing. It was beyond mushy, really. It was verging into baby food territory. You could've told me it was oddly textured mashed potatoes and I would believe you. CORN FRITTERS: It was the highlight of my meal, despite being rather average. It tasted like something frozen in huge batches on some conveyor belt somewhere, and refried when a customer orders it. It was edible and average in that very sort of generic sense. PEACH COBBLER: Peach cobbler? You mean peach oatmeal. I'm pretty damn sure I ordered the cobbler, right? Not peach oatmeal? You could've fooled me, because it looked like a mysterious hybrid between oatmeal and overcooked grits. It had no texture whatsoever. The cobbler was the consistency of finely pureed apple sauce. It is so LIQUID that it's impossible to eat with a fork. I'm serious, I could've SIPPED the cobbler from the pot like a mug of thick peachy smoothie. That's how liquid it was. This was my first encounter with Cowboy Chicken. I recently moved to the area, and have never heard of the chain before. I arrived with no biases, preconceptions, or prejudices. I ordered delivery, and overall it was perfectly average. They delivered earlier than their estimate by about 20 minutes, so that was a definite plus! They did not include a straw for the drink, so just a slight inconvenience. As for the food, I was left feeling I less than satisfied. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with a cup of tortilla soup, the side of loaded mashed potatoes, and the peach cobbler with ice cream. The chicken was very much on the dry side, and the wood flavor was just not appetizing. It was way too overpowering, and I'm not sure if it was because the chicken was obviously old and lost the juicy chicken flavor, or if they really over do it, but it was just not good. I only ate one piece. The potatoes were pretty good, but had a strange texture. I devoured those anyway! The tortilla soup was really disappointing! It had great flavor, but is advertised as being loaded with chicken. I had no chicken in mine! It was pure veggie, which is fine, but I was expecting chicken as advertised. Bummer! The cobbler and ice cream was good, but the crust part was really strange. Kinda like stuff that is made from a can and is really crumbly. Overall, I might be back, but only for a couple sides. I like their food. We have been going here since it first opened. The last few times I have been here lately I have noticed that the place needs a good cleaning. I have been there right when they first open for the day and it was pretty bad. Floors, walls, counters, floor mats, tables, everything was dirty in some way. One particular employee who seems to be in charge is always coughing all over the place and wiping her nose on her hands. While the 1/4 Chicken I got was juicy & good, it was way over salted, the green beans were not salted and were very bland, one of my corn nuggets was cold in the middle (the rest were fine and delicious). We've been to this location several times. I've tried their enchilada's and their salads. The food is fresh and hot. The kids meals are nicely priced at $2.99 and my kids typically either get the Cowpoke, which is 2 chicken drumsticks and a side item, or the PB and J with their homemade chips. Well this is my review for the Cowboy Chicken Razor Ranch. This was my first time in this restaurant. The restaurant was not crowded and all the tables were very clean. This made me feel good about being here and trying the food out. My wife had been here with friends last week and said the food was good. So you know following the Mayors directions I had to try it. I ordered the 6 drumsticks half/half(barbecue/hot sauce) with my sides being sweet potato and corn nuggets which the hostess advised me to get. My food took about 8-10 minutes to arrive at the table. I was sure hungry and ready to try this Cowboy Chicken I heard so much about. The good news is it looked real nice on my plate and the bad news is everything was ice cold except the 6 corn nuggets. I was like "This plate is COLD"! I never return food so I boxed it with no complaints to management. Why??? ( Think Why)I'm disappointed with my first time eating experience at Cowboy Chicken. Tried the enchiladas; breast meat a little dry, but tasty. Corn tortillas delicious, sauce was wonderful. Twice baked potatoes very good. Gonna stick with the dark meat next time (if there is a next time). Took 20 minutes to get our order though, so don't drop by if you are in a hurry... ridiculous wait time considering they weren't that busy. I never leave reviews, but I'm feeling particularly let down by Cowboy Chicken. I used to order from here every week or so, love that they deliver! But this was my first order in 6 months and it seems that the quality has slid pretty far downhill. I ordered enchiladas with tortilla soup and peach cobbler... The enchiladas were the only thing consistent. The soup tasted like thick red corn starch and not much else. I was CRAVING soup and couldn't finish it, even with a few good shots of hot sauce from my fridge. The cobbler was also inedible: cloying, with extremely undercooked crust. It tastes like eating an underbaked cake that's still batter-y in the middle, and I can't even taste the peaches. I also ordered two sides of ice cream to go with the cobbler and received a disappointingly small portion, barely enough to make one of their old servings--not enough to make the cobbler bearable, and honestly, when you have to cut your cobbler with ice cream to time back the sweetness, you may have a problem. The service was prompt and the prices were fair, but overall the food was poor and I'm afraid I won't be ordering again. read more

The enchiladas surprised me. Being Mexican, I grew up eating authentic Enchiladas con salsa de tomatillo. It's not quite home cooking on that, but it beats most "Mexican" chains. The newest location of this very casual chicken house is awesome. They specialize in serving wood fire rotisserie chicken and various chicken based dishes. The chicken dishes include wood fire chicken, grilled chicken, chicken enchiladas, chicken tacos, chicken sandwiches, chicken tortilla soup and chicken salads. They also have a few desserts and a kids menu. We went there Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was packed. The staff was friendly and helpful and the line (which almost went out the door) moved surprisingly quickly. Our food also came out in about 5 minutes. The employees were all hustling around cleaning and delivering food and the place seemed organized and working very efficiently. I had the enchilada plate with rice and beans (see pic) and my wife and I shared the 1/2 chicken with sides of Mac & cheese, twice baked potatoes and corn fritters (see pics). Everything tasted fresh and delicious. My chicken enchiladas were unbelievably good and so were the twice baked potatoes. The ambiance was casual and a lot of the wall decorations consisted of newspaper write-ups they have received and menu items. We'll definitely be back. The chicken was moist and delicious and the sides were well seasoned. They made a mistake in my order and immediately corrected it in such a way that I ended up with more food than ordered. This was our first visit to Cowboy Chicken, and we have heard so many great things from our friends about the place! I knew it was rotisserie-style chicken. Other than that, I didn't really know what to expect. The moment I walked in, I thought of Cotton Patch or Cracker Barrel. Not because it necessarily looks like either of those places inside, but because the look and smell of the food I saw on the tables. We stepped up to the counter to order, and saw that there were rotisserie or grilled options, salads, sandwiches, and enchiladas. You can see a HUGE rotisserie cooker from the dining area with A LOT of chickens cooking (YUM)! My husband and I each ordered the rotisserie 1/2 chicken which came with two sides. I chose campfire veggies and mac n cheese... He chose black beans and twice-baked potatoes (I promise he DOES eat his vegetables)! When we paid, there was a place for a tip. That always throws me off because I am being asked for a tip before I have been given service. However, that is how many places operate now. We got our number and chose a table. Honestly, I was expecting broccoli, cauliflower, carrots (you get it) for my veggies. But when my plate arrived, I was surprised to see diced zucchini, squash, onion, and bell pepper that looked like it have been kind of stir-fried. It wasn't bad... Just not what I would have preferred. The mac n cheese was pretty good. It was deeper in color and had parts where the cheese was crunchier, like it had been baked in an oven and then broiled on top. The roll was ok, nothing outstanding... a little dry in places. I give the four stars mainly because of the chicken. It was GOOD! The skin on top was crispy and nicely seasoned. I'll only eat it if it's crispy, and this really was perfect! The meat itself was night and moist. And it was a pretty good sized chicken. I definitely was full. I will go back again. I want to try the cobbler! Wouldn't have fit this time though :( Next time, I will try different sides. I would say that it is reasonably priced. Not cheap, but more in the middle. For two 1/2 chickens with 2 sides and 1 roll each, and one shared large fountain drink (which gets you a plastic cup to take home... think Fuzzy's), it came to right under $20. Oh!
