We ate there the first week in June, 2026. We've eaten there quite a few times in the past and really liked the food and the ambiance. However, when we went recently, the first thing we noticed was the change in menu. They have added wraps, which was okay. They still have what we usually order. I ordered a chicken wrap. It came with chips. My husband ordered BBQ beef. We filled our drink cups while we waited for the food. The Dr. Pepper was out. We filled our cups with lemonade. No big deal. The lemonade was awful. It was watery and tasted like the jalapeno lemonade they used to carry. We dumped it out and got tea. It was okay. When the food came, my husband, a non-complainer, remarked that he got chicken with the beef he ordered. He ate about half the food. He said it wasn't worth eating. My wrap came with a few paltry chips. Small, poor quality chips. The taste of the wrap was okay, but the texture was mushy, like it had been in a blender. I ate one of the halves. We just wrapped up the food and took it home. We wound up throwing about half away. $30+ in the garbage can. We will never go back. So sad. It was a good restaurant. read more

What a wonderful experience. If you're in the area stop for lunch or dinner. I would suggest trying the brisket and chicken plate so that you can try each meat. They're both very juicy and tender and flavorful. Barbecue sauce was delicious even for my husband who does not like barbecue sauce liked it. We both had salads with our meal as you get two sides, I had green beans and he had black beans, both were delicious. They also offer a flavor tea if you were a tea drinker. Manager is the friendly and very helpful and very quick. You will love coming here to sit down and enjoy a meal that is just delicious. When the cowboy chicken right before they close and ordered a whole chicken with two sides-the green beans with the Twice Baked taters. When we got home instead of a whole chicken they gave us four naked chicken breast with four individual legs no wings no thighs. It's probably because we came in so late. They're advertising their 1981 Meal for Four, which is not a bad deal. Only thing is you can't pick your sides. We ordered online for pickup on a weekday. When we got there at 6pm, it wasn't ready yet. Had to wait a little bit but not much. Their wood-fired Rotisserie Chicken was deliciously smoky and juicy as always. Whoever does their chicken is doing a good job. The Baked Potaters on the other hand were dry. We took a bite and threw the rest away. My wife had to go across town and pick something up (it's about 30 minutes away from where we live). She knows I like rotisserie chicken, so she suggested we place an online order for pickup 30 minutes later. Somehow, they forgot a side and then forgot the gravy for my mashed potatoes. They had 30 minutes to put together TWO meals, and somehow managed to screw it up! This is why I am spending less and less money on takeout and just making things at home myself. First time experience! Ordered delivery and decided on the half order roasted chicken with green beans and the white cheddar mac & cheese. The plate comes with a roll. Also ordered the peach cobbler. Everything was delivered quickly and was the perfect temp. The chicken is incredibly flavorful and the skin was the die for!!! The white meat was a little dry but not overly so. At least it's not undercooked! The green beans were crisp & seasoned with salt and pepper. The roll came with one little thing of butter. I had a few bites of the peach cobbler and found the peaches to be perfect but the topping a little too sweet for my liking. Overall I thought the food was a bit on the salty side. If that's an issue for you, you might want to be careful to order something a little lighter. They do offer salads. As for tastiness - 10/10!! read more

I've been here a few times - once with work colleagues & other times with family. I like the value we get for getting family platters & sides. Easy way to get it all in front of you family style. I like the Mexican street corn, but it can be a bit watery. The pulled pork is really good but the BBQ can be tangy so be prepared. I've always loved Cowboy Chicken and stop in from time to time, but my visit today fell a bit flat. The service was essentially nonexistent. I understand that the team members aren't servers, but if you're going to prompt for a tip after swiping my card, the least you can do is maintain basic courtesy. Rolling your eyes when I mention I'm placing a to-go order, turning your back while I'm speaking, and not even offering a simple "thank you" when I leave isn't acceptable. We had a late lunch at Cowboy Chicken. It took a little while to place our order as the cashier looked very busy. She was helpful and attentive when we were able to place our order. Being our first time, we had questions and she answered them nicely. We got the half chicken plate and the 6 boneless wings combos. Everything came out hot and delicious. Cowboy chicken is great, I've been back several times. The service provided was quick and always on top of it. Today I ordered the three piece dark meal with Mexican corn and okra. The chicken was juicy and tender, falling off the bone and was covered in perfectly crispy skin. Mexican corn was seasoned well and very flavorful. The okra was crispy, none burnt, and seasoned well with salt and pepper. The tea was freshly brewed and deep in flavor. THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOT SAFE!!! Despite mentioning I came to them because of their amazing reviews and what looks like it is celiac/wheat safe.... It isn't. I mentioned so many times about it to ensure my order would be safe. First thing I mentioned is I have a wheat allergy and was told they follow celiac protocol. Great! Right? Placed my order, made sure to mention NO ROLL OR WHEAT/Celiac at all and waited. The wait time isn't long at all which is amazing for a BBQ type place. Owner was working the to go orders and another person worked taking orders. They were knowledgeable about celiac and following "protocols". My concerns really started rising when I watched them make the orders for everyone. The cooks touch EVERYTHING. Wheat rolls are touched, then food is touched. I asked the person who took my order about it and she ensured my order will be safe. Received my order and when I went to check it, sure enough there were greasy prints on the box. *sigh. My excitement dissipated. I could smell the roll. Opened the box and my heart sank. They put a roll in the box. Checked my receipt and sure enough she didn't even list anything on it indicating a wheat or celiac allergy. I returned the food and spoke with the owner. He was pretty upset himself because as he stated "We have a really strict protocol when it comes to celiac. My son has celiac. My workers are trained for this." Without hesitation he did refund my money. He was clearly upset with his order taker who was the one that dropped the ball for the entire thing. Had she initiated the celiac on the order receipt and told the cooks, they would have followed the celiac protocol for my order. While the owner does try to make it easier and give those of us with celiac/gluten/wheat a fast food option, I still urge you to use caution and follow your gut when ordering. I HIGHLY recommend ordering "To Go" so it is indicated YOURSELF on their receipt and system. The owner also will be the one to see it himself and can make sure that the order protocol is followed. I personally won't be ordering from here with how the food is all set up in there. The rolls are open and next to all the food. Workers literally touch everything. read more

had a wedding catering tasting here and have been going ever since because we loved it. at the tasting we were told by a manager certain sides were gluten free as I informed them I have celiac and I have been eating those sides ever since. today we found out those were not in fact NOT gluten free and I have been unknowingly eating gluten without knowing. luckily I do not have anaphylactic reactions to gluten but if you have ANY allergies I would NOT recommend as they clearly are not informed or careful about these things. Then whenever they remade the food to be gluten free safe they changed my all white chicken (which was an up charge) for regular chicken. Overall very disappointing, we come here often and have never had issues. The staff was quick and helped clean off my trays as we were leaving. The restaurant itself was very clean. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the barbecue chicken with sweet potato and it was all great. It also came with a container of a cinnamon sugar mixture to add to the potato if need be. Yum! Wonderfully surprised. I had the enchiladas that have a creamy tomatillo sour cream sauce. They were delicious and come with plenty of sauce. For the side I had the cucumber tomato salad. It comes with a raspberry vinaigrette which I was not a big fan of because I do not like raspberry flavor. Even still, I had some bites and if you do like raspberry I am sure you would love it. My boyfriend opted for the crispy drumsticks and while ordering he mentioned he wished they weren't fried. The host said no problem we can grab it off the grill and not fry it for you.
