Cowboy's Cafe This is a review for my dining experience at Cowboy's Cafe. My family and I went to grab brunch at around 10:30am on a Saturday. Business was poppin! It was busy, but we arrived just in time to get a table for three with no wait. We ordered the chicken fried steak with extra crispy hash browns, a side of pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, and a breakfast burger. Everything was delicious! I loved my chicken fried steak! It was a huge portion and the meat was thick and flavorful. The gravy that was paired with it was tasty as well! The side of pancakes were great! I loved how the butter was room temperature, so it was easy to spread on with the syrup. Service was excellent! Our server was very attentive and had a positive attitude. She checked on our meal and made sure we had everything we needed! I had a pleasant experience at Cowboy's Cafe and I am looking forward to dining there again with the cowboys and cowgirls! Yeehaw!

Cowboy breakfast eggs, hash browns and a huge ham steak!

We absolutely loved this perfect little country cafe! The food was so good, just what you'd expect in a western town coffee shop. Excellent cowboy breakfast, Belgian waffle was so tasty with thick maple syrup! Service was friendly and helpful, highly recommend if you're looking for home cooking at its best!

We've been coming here for years. Good, good diner food...the kind you can't get anywhere else in the area! It's always busy, so go early.

What a cool place?…read more Whenever we are out and about and checking out new things, we always try to find some good local coffee. We took the kids to Genoa and after wanted to warm up a bit. This coffee place has always been one that we've seen whenever we've driven out of town to go to SoCal and always said "we need to check this place out someday". Super glad that we finally did, I got a peppermint latte and the wife got a toffee latte. They even have locally made ice cream and the kids enjoyed chocolate brownie, and cookies and cream. The lattes were both great flavored and really well made with beans brewed from Old World Coffee (Reno) beans. Which is our favorite roaster in the area. Honestly with our travels out of state and internationally, we found that Old World has the best roasted beans around. There's plenty of space in the main part of the coffee shop and a side room with a community table and even an area for kids to play and read books. I wish we had a good coffee place like this in the Sparks area. This will definitely be a staple when we're in town.

Wow, can't believe no one has reviewed this place since 2017! I don't know about you but when I…read morefind a coffee shop that serves chai tea & hot chocolate for less than $2, that's a score. But wait, how about a latte for about $4 and not like most places that charge $6-$8 especially if someone wants a different milk and charging a $1 surcharge to switch. Not this place. Barbara, our local high school student, welcomed us with a hello, welcome in with a smile! Our drinks were great! The place isn't big with only 2 tables but you can take and walk around the casino or try your luck on the slot machines. This place also sells pastries. The bear claws & blueberry muffins are amazing! If staying the night here and you want beer, wine, and/or prepacked food for a hike or picnic, you can pick that up here as well. A twist cap bottle of wine for only $8! Can't say enough of this place! We discovered it 2 weeks ago and have gone back again already! We will be back to try more items.

They open early and they have a good little selection of bakery items, sandwiches, soup and coffee including cappuccino, espresso, etc. I got a bagel with cream cheese for $1.34! Completely shocking! Aside from my bonus buy I believe they sell wine and possibly beer by the bottle. I love the Carson Valley Inn and Casino because they have everything there and the people that work there are amazing.

More like, 3.5 stars…read more The ambiance is great. Located in the heart of "downtown" Genoa, you get amazing views of the mountains and that quaint small town vibe. Customer service has been super friendly and sweet. You feel welcome as soon as you walk in. A unique feature they have is a little play room in the back for your kids. It's rare to find these in food establishments, but is a God send when you have a squirmy toddler that won't allow you to have a peaceful meal. Why 3.5 stars? Because the the quality and creativity of food is lacking for the price charged. Menu items are extremely basic. I tried the breakfast tacos, croissant boat, honeycomb waffle, honey nut latte, and cowgirl latte spread out during 2 different visits. As far as the food, there really isn't anything unique or special about the items. Literally, just scrambled eggs with bacon or Canadian bacon mixed in. For the tacos, you get 2 per order ($8.00) My husband wanted one with bacon crumbles and one with Canadian bacon. For something that I assumed is made to order, they could not accommodate. They could only do 1 kind of protein per order which made no sense. Scramble 1 egg, add bacon, scramble another egg, add Canadian bacon. Add to each taco shell. Done. My husband ended up ordering 2 separate orders just so he could have both proteins. The honeycomb waffle is also served pretty basic. For the price you get 1 waffle for $10. For an extra $1.00 you can get berries on it. See photo for the $1.00 worth of berries you get. For the amount of berries they put on it, it should be included in the $10. Or charge $14 and pile on the fruit! The waffle already comes drowning in syrup which made it soggy and too sweet. I've only had flavored lattes here and I find them to be too sweet. Maybe just a regular unflavored latte would taste better. The food and ambiance do not match. If the food was more imaginative, unique (like the decor), and more "gourmet-ish", the prices would be justified.

Although the bakery and deli are connected to the casino next door, you don't hear casino noise inside the restaurant. However, when the casino door opens, cigarette smoke can drift into the dining area. Also, the restrooms are located through the casino. This wasn't a major issue for us, but it could be uncomfortable for anyone sensitive to cigarette smoke, those with asthma, or families with small children. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. They also offer specialty coffees, Italian sodas, and an impressive selection of desserts, making it hard to leave without a treat! The restaurant is charmingly decorated and has a cozy feel. During our visit, the waitstaff was a bit short-handed, so a few tables hadn't been cleared right away. Even so, the staff apologized, worked quickly to make room for us, and provided excellent service despite being busy. We'll definitely be back to Schat's- the delicious food and incredible desserts completely won us over!

We got carried away and was a little surprised total cost after we picked a few items and 2 sandwiches. Worth checking out is the day-old section with 50% off that is in the left corner as you face the display counter. Sandwiches have quality meats and everything tastes fresh. Recommend the BLT; thickness and flavor bacon was perfect! Cold pastrami was a good quality meat. Note: only the fries come standard sandwiches. The other sides (onion rings, cup soup) are $2.00 upgrade. We tried the apricot coffee cake ($12.45). It was good (fresh and moist) but couldn't find anything special. I would have expected more pieces of the fruit .
