I can't speak highly enough of Cowfish in Hampton Bays. I've heard about it and been wanting to go for a while now but have always been deterred by the long wait time I heard about. This weekend we decided to suck it up, go put our names down, and resign ourselves to the fact that we'd be waiting at the bar for a while. The outdoor bar area is absolutely gorgeous. It's located right in a beautiful marina and has a completely open-air feel with high stools and then plenty of grassy space with Adirondack Chairs. We got there a little after 7pm and were told it would be about a 2 hour wait. We decided we'd snack a bit at the bar while enjoying our rose and then would order however much food would fit in our stomachs once we got inside. First, we started with the Tumbleweed sushi roll which is spicy lobster, avocado, asparagus, shrimp tempura, crispy potatoes, eel sauce, and spicy aioli. It didn't taste like a typical sushi roll but it was phenomenal. We were still waiting for a table around 8pm and decided to go with the lobster-stuffed mushrooms. Jeez they were fantastic. Absolutely, perfectly prepared, bursting with flavor, they left me craving more. They're definitely the best thing on the bar menu which, though limited, can definitely provide you with a hearty meal. Finally, we got inside around 9pm and ordered, among other things, the scallops with a white wine reduction, corn, basil, prosciutto, reggiano, and jasmine rice. It was a hefty scallop dish that actually filled me up unlike most scallop dishes. After dinner we spent some time sitting on the water on a beautiful moonlit night. I don't usually write a review, but this Saturday night I had invited several others to Cowfish for dinner. Now I have been there numerous times, and during the pandemic I even ordered out from them. this night when we went to Cowfish we were told that our wait would be between 1-1/2 hr to 1-3/4 hrs, which was not an issue as we had some cocktails during our wait. After almost two hours we were told that we were next in line for a table. There was a group that had been called and taken to a table outside, however they came back and requested that they be given a table indoors, and they were immediately taken indoors. I went to the hostess and questioned again when we were to be seated, and again I was told that we were next. I brought up the issue of the group that was immediately seated indoors, and was told that they had a reservation. and that we would be next. I asked to speak with a manager, and when i explained the issue of having waited 2 hours when I was told differently, and about the group that was immediately permitted to switch there table, the manager said we were next but that he could not guarantee when we would be seated as the group that was leaving could continue to remain. At this point me and my party decided to leave and go to another restaurant as it was now getting late. To compound everything while we were at the other restaurant, we received a text message from Cowfish saying our table was ready, another two hours after we left Cowfish.....incredible!!! read more

Gotta love a place like Cowfish. Since it's opened my family and I have frequented this establishment without fail on a Bi-weekly basis. Never failed to overly thank each employee who's helped us on each occasion and generously tipping well beyond the suggested 20% because for the time we were blessed to be able to do so. In March the world changed as a Pandemic hit. Being the loyal family we were, we changed our bi-weekly orders to weekly PICK UP orders to support our local community. Again, never failing to leave gratuities less than 35% on PICK UP orders. Each time the person who took the order was so thankful just for the order as the restaurant business and world were in uncertain times. There would be no less than 3 thank you! Today, with 2 immune comprised kids, I was told they cut PICK UP orders off b/c they were tooo busy. Where would you have been with out PICK UP orders in April & May? What a disgrace. My cousin and I just left and all I have to say is wow! We went out East for a few hours and decided to enjoy a nice meal on the way home. This place is top notch. Very safe during COVID 19. We sat at the outside bar with an amazing view. The service and food were equally impressive! I would recommend every single thing that we had. Buffalo shrimp (we asked for grilled not fried), scallops with risotto, filet with truffle butter, asparagus, mushrooms, and Brussels sprouts. You really have to try this place. Food was a 5-star, waiting to be seated-2 stars, filthy outside-1 star. I came with a group, it was a 2 hour wait. Yes I understand it's the Hamptons, but there's no excuse for it being under staffed and the rolling of the eyes from the female bartender at the outside bar was disrespectful. The place was packed (of course it's a Saturday night) and I don't understand how they only had 2 bartenders at one of the bars. Outside there were empty glass bottles all over the place. When I moved one of the chairs to sit down outside, I knocked over 3 glass bottles. Food was good, from what my group said. I had the brussel sprout salad and it was plain and boring. Tuna poke was great but the chips tasted a little stale. I wish they took reservations on the weekends because if your coming with a group to celebrate a special occasion you shouldn't have to wait 2 hours to be seated. read more

I can understand why people love this restaurant. After all, you enjoy great views of the bay, the grounds are perfectly manicured, and a friendly bar is a great place to endure the long waits. But perhaps their success has led to arrogance which diminished our enjoyment of the evening. We chose to eat at one of the sofas surrounding the restaurant. The policy here is you then go to the bar,ask for menus, order your food, sit down, and the food Is served. It's kind of like take out plus. The bartender initially is your waiter but doesn't give you the attention you deserve and pay for. We ordered cider and a beer and were only given one cup. Had to flag down the bartender to get the second. The worst offender of meal was that our food was thrown at us. We ordered kale salad and the salmon and tuna. We were given everything at once! Inexcusable. The salmon was over cooked and a meager portion. No one ever checked on us after the food was served. No attention was given to us. When the bill came, we wondered were we supposed to tip 15-20% when I ordered the food at the bar, and had little personal service? read more

The location of the restaurant is ideal - right on the water, overlooking the marina, with an upstairs outdoor seating and a outdoor bar and patio. The servers here are great, so friendly and happy to help with anything. The hostesses seemed a little distracted when we were there, and there were 3 of them crowded around the stand, but not a big deal. The only thing we weren't impressed with was the food. To start, there was either bugs or dirt in our water jug. They replaced it quickly when we called it out, but not great especially since I've gotten dirty plates at their sister restaurant Rumba. The lobster rolls was nothing special, and very expensive at $32 given the meat was majority chopped up, indicating it probably wasn't fresh. Cowfish was delicious! We were visiting from Texas and were given this as a restaurant recommendation. We didn't have a reservation but rain was headed our direction. We were told that they could seat us, however, if it started to rain they would not be able to seat us inside. We looked at the radar and took a chance. I believe we had the best seat in the house on the rail overlooking the channel. It was beautiful. We had 2 fried flounder specials and a hamburger (because one of us allergic to seafood). Food was delicious, hot and came out in a timely manor. The only negative was that our waitress had trouble keeping our glasses filled. After our initial drink order was placed our glass wasn't refilled again until we had to ask...just before leaving. But all in all, we loved the place! read more

Four for dinner on a Saturday nite. They take reservation only for 10 or more. Arrived around 6 told the wait was 45 minutes. Given one of those beepers. Outside bar was not very crowded as it was a foggy and windy night. Considering the fog it was still a nice view. Naturally inside bar was jammed. After a little more than an hour we were seated. Restaurant has an open floor plan so it was a bit noisy but we not bothered by it. Can't recall waitress name but she came over in a couple minutes. Took drink order. Came back for appetizer. Clam chowder and salsa with nachos which came in about 5 minutes. Chowder was delicious. Plenty of clams, stocky and hot. Not salty at all. Salsa is salsa ,chips were fresh. Dinner order: swordfish, ribs and 2 orders of shrimp. Maybe 15 minutes out comes food all together. All meals were excellent. I had the swordfish which was unbelievably fresh and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Restaurant was clean. Tables are close but not overly so. No debris on floor. Never felt rushed. Excellent service. Met one of the partners I believe Eric. Thanked us for coming in. He seems to be hands on which most successful restaurants need. He explained wait staff is throughly trained before they are permitted to wait on tables. It certainly appeared so. No one was standing around looking at their cell phones. Entire staff was involved in taking care of guests. Valet parking. Great place definitely will be back. Not a cheap meal but consider the quality of food, professional wait staff and cleanliness of the restaurant, its worth the price. The experience here is just amazing. I've been dying to come over here for the past year. The whole feel of this place is just relaxing. The do have valet parking. They have an indoor and outdoor bar. The outside area has a playground for your kids and a beautiful lit up tree at night. It's right on the Shinnecock Canal. They have a nice drink menu and happy hour between 3-5pm. The service here is great and everyone is super friendly and patient. My boyfriend and I got Oysters Hampton which were super delicious. They were fried and not too crunchy but to a perfect crisp. It lays in this spinach sauce which was so delightful. My boyfriend had ordered the wedge salad which was amazing. I ordered the New England clam chowder which was super delicious. As a drink I ordered a whiskey drink which got me feeling tipsy off the first one! Best part is they have a pontoon boat that travels to Cowfishs' sister restaurant Rumba. Cool experience for people of all ages. Will defiantly be coming back. read more

This was my first time at Cowfish and it was an amazing experience!! Everything from the service to the food to the ambience was 10/10. Our dinner came out so fast it was like if the Flash made it. We had an indoor seating reservation on a Saturday 8/15 for 5:45PM and upon entering, you see that they have seating areas spread out all over. After dinner we were able to finish our Rose at one of the sofas and enjoy the scenery of the marina. Everyone was following COVID guidelines so you felt safe while enjoying the atmosphere with other guests. I really don't remember the server's name but she was a such a sweetheart. The best service we had ALL summer to be honest. I do recommend to bring a sweater or shawl because it was FREEZING inside but I rather it be freezing than hot. We did not get any appetizers and went straight to our entrees. I got the Halibut special with cauliflower puree and my BF got the Seared Ahi Tuna with coconut pineapple rice which is on the menu regularly. We received our dinner like 10 mins after we put in the order, I was so shocked. When I tell you both fishes were cooked PERFECTLY and all the flavors just went perfectly with each other. The Swiss chard didn't even taste like Swiss chard. It was all just so SCRUMPTIOUS! All high quality items. Beyond any words! The Banana cream pie was also outstanding, not too sweet and just pure yummy. We got Rose to drink with everything and just the ambience with being with other hip guests, it felt really nice to be out. After drinks, we took the boat ride over to Rhumba. We recently had our wedding here on October 14th and it was simply the greatest experience of our lives! The entire staff at Cowfish was amazing and accommodating! Our guests are still ranting and raving about the food weeks later! Hands down the greatest party of our lives! The sushi was incredible and the buffalo shrimp being passed around was awesome. The staff always seemed to have food every time you turned around while mingling. We had the scallops that was hands down the guest favorite and was actually a last minute audible that they were happy to accommodate for. We had the home wrecker and rum punch as our signature drinks which were simply amazing and the bartenders were awesome and were able to make all of our guests laugh at the bars. Would not only recommend them for a quiet comfortable wedding but definitely for their ability to do high pace weddings with 140 people and a dance floor inside. As the groom I had such an easy carefree experience that once we arrived there everything was taken care of. Love this place! read more

Just to lay out context for this review, this is my very first review on yelp after having this app for years. We started off with the amazing jumbo buffalo shrimp - the breading was pristine, the sauce perfect, and the shrimp perfectly cooked. A friend and I shared 4, and our appetites were whet for what was to come, and we were not disappointed. He got the glorious lobster roll and I got the underdog - the shrimp Nola... I feel this dish needs no description or explanation. The manager Eric does a wonderful job with his staff as well, ensuring we were never without our silverware and our food promptly came out. TLDR; if you are reading this and you want sea food, do yourself the greatest favor you could - get the shrimp Nola, enjoy the PERFECT sauce, soak it all up, clean the plate, and relax for the inevitable food coma that is waiting for you. I came here on a day trip with my cousin to South Hampton. We wanted to have lunch at a place with a beautiful view that wouldn't break the bank and we found it! The staff were welcoming, very friendly, and even let me charge my laptop for work. It was a little difficult to find but once you spot the sign, all you have to do is follow the road down towards the water. The restaurant itself looks like a glass house right next to the water on the bay. There is even a walkway and some green space to walk around and enjoy the view. We didn't have reservations and were still able to sit which we loved. The food was good, not out of this world, but satisfactory. However, we did love our drinks. I was very happy to hear they had Amber Beers since it's usually pretty hard to come across. Overall, I would return for drinks and a quick lunch if you're looking to scope something beautiful. Cowfish is one of the hottest spots in the Hamptons, with Rumba right around the corner. I started my night at Rumba having some drinks at the bar and got a free boat ride over to cowfish. Yes, you heard that right... A FREE BOAT RIDE! I made a reservation and was seated 15 prior to the reservation time. The drinks were amazing as well as dinner! We had a "Southern Belle" cocktail which consisted of black tea infused with vodka along with mint and Prosecco. It was very tasty!
