I DO NOT RECOMMEND COX. We been a loyal customer for years and unfortunately we just found out that we were not getting the internet speed that we were paying for. To make matters worse we had several issues with our internet and when we called to complain they started rerouting our calls to their executive office and start treating us extremely bad. We were not allowed to call their live agents or tech-support in addition to that we felt like we were being targeted just because we complained about the issues that we were having with our Internet. Cox executive team's supervisor Chenita made it very clear over the phone that if we don't stop complaining about the issues that we were having with Cox they will terminate our internet service and they also kept sending us warning letters stating that we should stop complaining about the issues that we were having with our service and also about their technician dirtying our carpet or they will terminate our service. In addition they also accused me of harassing their agents which is completely false because all the calls are being recorded and I been extremely professional with them. So based on my experience Cox is not a professional company and I don't recommend them at all. read more

This company could care less if you are a customer or not. I was getting just internet hooked up. They lied about how it was needed to be hooked up. After I got the modem they telI me i need to give them $100 for them to come out and install equipment. I specifically ask them as I was getting my account set up about install and said I just need to plug it in the wall. They told me initially I had one free service call to come out. But that doesn't count for this specific charge. Both customer service and in store would do nothing for me and was MORE than happy to have me cancel my service. I hadn't even started my service and they were hitting me with hidden charges. They wouldn't give me a shipping label to return it and had to do a 20 mile round trip to drop it off. read more

Cox claims to have reliable internet service. This is not true! Half the time I try to sign on to the internet, it is down!! I call and am told that they are working on the lines. They work on them 24-7 because it does not matter if it is 3 pm or 3 am the service suddenly goes down. Sometimes it is down for hours, sometimes just for short periods. I was told it was our equipment. We got updated equipment, but there is no change to the sporadic service. If you are looking for a good home internet provider, Cox is definitely not the one you want. Look around, that is what I am going to do now! read more

We moved to a different part of San Diego and could not continue our Direct TV services because they had to drill holes in our drywall, which we didn't want. So, the only other option was Cox. And boy, are we disappointed. #1 complaint: it is ridiculously expensive compared to other cable/internet providers. We are paying double ($160) for the exact same services (TV and internet) we had through AT&T/Direct TV. Oh, and they make you stay on a 2-year contract where your fees go up after the first year! Their DVR service only records 2 shows at a time. If you want more than that, you have to upgrade and pay another $8 per month. I paid extra to get their "panoramic Wifi" after being told it's "one of the best" but it's a total scam because it's only panoramic if you purchase their Wifi extenders!! Which you guessed it, are an additional charge each per month on top of the wifi fee!! #2 complaint: customer service is terrible. they don't care about retaining you or making you happy as a customer. They do not provide discounts even when you call their loyalty department. We lost a few channels for over a day due to "an outage" and they wanted to refund us only $4. So insulting. #3 complaint: less cable TV channel options and slower internet speed compared to other vendors #4 complaint: sure their customer representatives are friendly when you call to start services, but they "forget" to mention all the surcharges and installation fees. Just to get started with TV and internet it was over $150 in installation fees! DO NOT use Cox. If I could, I would go back to Direct TV/AT&T without question! They have much better deals and are more willing to work with customers on pricing to keep you happy. read more

Cox Communications customer service is by far the worst I have ever dealt with. I called to figure out why my internet bill has almost tripled in the past 5 years. I was put on hold for 27 minutes then got hung up on. No call back. Called again and put on hold for 33 minutes and got hung up on again. No call back. Called them again and only had a 10 minute hold before speaking to Christopher which is a fake name for sure, then was told that no promotions are available until after the 14th. So basically oh well. So now I am looking for another internet provider. Don't use Cox!!! read more

There seem to be frequent outages! Maybe try not to do mobile plans if you can't handle internet! It's really not the problem with the outage but not happens no credit to my account for inconvenience it's just business as usual yet when they activated a phone line for me they "interrupted" my service the very next day because of a connection fee even though I was enrolled in auto pay and they didn't ask for payment over the phone which led me to believe it would be deducted automatically or towards my next bill. What made it worst my daughter was having a medical issue and guess who couldn't make phone calls me something could have seriously happened and I got nothing from them. Just like a giant corporation they don't care and honestly this review is probably a waist of time, but I have nothing but time to write it since my internet is down. I'm using my phone data to write this glad I switched my phone service no telling what would happen if I kept phone and internet. I have had several bad experiences with Cox. I maybe the only one having issues but I doubt it. And it doesn't help that I have a start up media and production company and I rely on internet service. I switched to Cox and cancelled service all in the same day!! During the purchase online I thought it was strange they offered a fee for "customer care." But i declined the purchase. To expedite the process I went to the store to pick up the installation kit. Upon trying to install I discovered the coaxial cable in my place wasn't compatible with their modem. I called customer service for assistance and was advice I would need to pay a $150.00 fee for them to send someone to change it. They want me to pay a fee to give them my service??? Unheard of!!!!!! They are not scheduling any in home appointment now because of Covid19. We are without internet at least 1-2 times a week and I work from home. We live near SDSU, but in a lower income area and we have to go through this a little too often. I work hourly and if don't have internet, I don't get paid. AT&T has not upgraded our area either so their internet speeds are way too slow and they don't have any plans on improving. It amazes me that the customers who do not live in higher i come areas don't have to go through this. We can't get Spectrum cause they only supply their better service and lower rates to rich folks while those of us that are lower to mid income get poor service. Cox made me feel very bad about my contract with them. They would give me a better price and then they would the promotion would run out and they raise it. Finally, I asked for practically nothing in my account and it was still 270 this said I was getting a discount because I was bundling it. They don't want you to know but there's a thing called fire stick and you get it from Amazon and all you do is plug it in with the USB plug in the back of your TV and do a little bit of processing the stick and you've got unlimited Channels, including PBS and you can watch them or you can watch old episodes easily. They don't want you to know about it. What you do is you get an Internet connection for very inexpensive for under $50 the stick doesn't cost much input the information needed and you're ready to go instead of paying 250 to 350, which is what I paid for literally 15 years I am going to be paying $80 a month for the Internet connection with another company for $49 and $29 a month for to use the stick the fire stick. read more

Apparently Cox has been aware of a defect in email program for over a month!! Numerous calls to customer service (ha!) and tech support (ha(!) have resulted in absolutely NO resolution. I have spent more time than I will ever get back. "Conversations" with non-native English speakers which results, as I am sure you will understand, in major issues with language, comprehension, and NO understanding of customer service! And yet company continues to bill me monthly for something I am not receiving. Today, yet another "rep" from India insisted he could help me - NOT! He insisted that Cox only supported Cox emails ( ??? ). Stated that internet and email were two different entities. Reiterated company has been aware of this issue for over a month. Stated company will be notifying customers when fixed? Didn't notify me when it became defective. I'm at my wits' end. Rep wouldn't tell me difference between tech support and billing! Company allegedly "gifted" customers internet speed substantially. They did not. Although they state I have high speed internet, it is not even close. OK - tomorrow I will be contacting company again trying to find a tech support AND billing person to talk with. If I could give less than one star I definitely would! Text message assistance...30 minutes later I'm still trying. I feel like I'm dealing with a Storm Trooper who's just a grunt for Darth Vader. We have had Cox Bundle for years! We have a email that we have used for EVERYTHING for over 15 years. Yesterday my husband was trying to trouble shoot a log in issue for email. The representative apparently deactivated our account instead of reset. Now our email is gone. Speaking to customer service this morning they stated they would let a manager know, but could not guarantee a call back!!! I am furious. We need our email restored. They appear to not care. It will take us hours to make new email and change years worth of contact info. Etc. Super upset with Cox. If you want a provider that cares, don't choose Cox. I haven't had service for over a month because the box in my house is broken. I've been calling for weeks several times a week and each time they promised to send me a box or have one delivered. They've even given me dates that it would arrive and they never show up. The first three times they promised to have it delivered I got an email the following day thing that the order was canceled but with no explanation and then I have to spend another hour to get to the right person to figure out why it didn't show up and I of course get a different excuse each time On June 17 they promised they were going to hand deliver it by a technician and leave it on my front doorstep. And it never showed up of course and when I called today they said the gate was locked. There's no gate that is locked for the last 13 years at my house and of course they always have an excuse every time and it's always my fault and they never fail to say you're so far away like 100 times every time I talk to her on the phone throughout the conversation. Today they ran out of excuses as to why it never showed up and then at the same time they have Robo collars telling me about my bill being past due I know there is a coronavirus but they're still open for business and UPS and their delivery service and their technicians are still working so there's no excuse for them lying to me I have saved all their voicemail messages promising me that it will be delivered because they usually call back like they did three days ago and that will be arriving the following day at 5 PM and we will leave it on your front doorstep. They have the worst customer service affects ever and it's because they don't have any competition and there's no other cable service or Internet service in the area that they have to compete with so I figured that's why they going to treat customers like crap and get away with it. Have had outages going on 4 weeks which hurts my online business and schooling. I even lost answers on an online exam two days ago and couldn't recover them. Chatted with a few techs over the last month. One tech tried to sell me new equipment. One said my equipment was "expired" after 4.5 years of use and was the reason for outages. One said he was unable to reboot my router from his end & nothing he could do but did say I could pay $75 for a tech to come look. Same tech said my equipment was fine. I would say avoid Cox at all costs but you can't if you live in their service area. If you don't, you have to deal with Spectrum/Time Warner who are no better. All of these ISPs will gouge you for as much money as they can get from you and then they'll try to get even more. THE WORST I have had cox business/ home (multiple locations) for over 30 years. After suffering consistent poor service and lack of "accepting" any responsibility for their service today they outdid themselves I was trying to lower my ever increasing bill and they told me I could "close" some services. When I did that I lost my internet When I called them they told me they never should have closed that service and it was a "grandfathers" code and cant be replaced but I could start new service at a cost of $40 a month more?? I obviously explained the problem with closing service (at their behest) and now having to pay $ 40 more for the same service. I spoke to multiple people who were nice and sympathetic but apparently the business office (who decides these things) doesn't talk to customers. They basically said nothing can be don and offered a credit for one year but after that they said I would have to "pay for their mistake" I am done with cox they are and act like a monopoly barry I read more

Was forced to upgrade my cable box as they said it was no longer supported. Not sure why Cox would think that the Contour cable box was an upgrade -- the only way to turn off the box is to push the power button on the box or to step through multiple menus under settings. If I wanted to turn off the old cable box, I just clicked the power button on the remote. read more

My Cox DVR had hundreds of recordings most were less than a year old and capacity was at 76%. My DVR was mysteriously wiped clean, not my doing so I called COX twice and all I got was "I don't know".
