Do not, repeat do not let them talk you into switching to digital phone service. Mine has gone out on various handsets three times. Each time someone comes out and assures me it's fixed, that the last guy didn't know what he was doing. Well now I have two out of 5 not working again. Also their new Contour system is horrible. Can;t figure out how to erase a program I've recorded before it's totally over. It refuses to delete because I am currently watching it. Wish I could give a zero on starts. Four appointments in a week- two of which the person was in my house for 3 1/2 hours and Cox couldn't figure out the issue. And they are willing to compromise me $11/day for not having cable? I've been a Cox customer for over 20 years & the service gets worse & the price skyrockets. Ever since they "upgraded" to the Contour service I have had nothing but problems. The remote wasn't as good as the old remote. You can't expand the picture to fit the screen anymore. Since the Covid19 lock down I was given a new box that I had to install cuz they won't let their employees go inside the house. I put it in exactly as they told me & after the volume didn't work, I had ghosts on the screen, & the colors were screwed up. I also lost internet service. I called Cox & they sent a guy who got the internet working & said everything works now but left before I checked out the TV which had the same problems. Cox called me for a review of my service & after I explained everything to him he says "What seems to be the problem?" & I said I just told you. Were you even listening? I had a friend who was able to get things right & 2 weeks later my tv was getting no signal. I called Cox back & they told me that their employees can go inside your house to fix this problem!!! They came & got my signal fixed but now the voice activated remote won't work. The repairman said just use the other remote. Today I'm getting no picture on the screen & my DVD player is being hindered from playing. I try the phone texting for help number & it says we'll try contacting another service person so I press the continue button & up pops a site to pay for a service call!! Cox can kiss my ass. Dont use Cox. I'm ready to try somebody else. By the way, Cox may be the only company I know of who gives new customers better financial incentives than longtime customers. Well, at least I have comfort in knowing I'm not alone with my horrible customer service. I spent over 2 hours trying to do an address change that I already did TWICE. I was passed to person to person to person to person to PERSON! And they were so rude and when I asked to speak to a manager they bit me back to the first person I talked to who said he would get me to a manager and apparently within the two hour wait became one. They don't care if they loose revenue over poor customer service. I asked what they could do to make it right and they said nothing, lol. Really???This company is a joke. Last April I greed to a plan which would remain in affect for up to 24 months with the price unchanged. It expires in april 2019. No movie channels which usually expire in 3 months. My billl has went up 3 times in the last 3 months. They just send messages on the bill they are raising my rates. When I called they said my rates would stay the same until 2019 april. I asked about the $5 internet upgrade which was on Tv. She said no problem. I am so sick of Cox! I have had them for 13 years (they only show 8 or 9 years for some reason). I also worked for Cox for 6 years so I know the inner workings. They will try just about anything to keep you. They have a whole department just for people who want to downgrade or disconnect. They call it Customer Loyalty but it's just retention. They are given special pricing options that are not available to the other reps so if you want to save some money on your bill......just tell them you're disconnecting. It may or may not work. It depends on the rep you get. My monthly bill is over $182 a month. Keep in mind I have Cable, Internet and phone. It's a HUGE ripoff. I don't have any premium channels and I'm a single person. I know I can get it cheaper. I've just been too lazy to switch but now I'm ready to cut the cord! I'll keep my same phone number and get internet from another provider. Yesterday was the day that broke the camels back. I had to call 3 times before I got someone who knew what he was doing. I kept receiving e-mails telling me my mailbox was almost full. Unbelievable to me that the first 2 people didn't have a clue to help. The rep pointed out to me that my modems are old and that he would send me new modems at no charge to me. As he was placing the order, I got DISCONNECTED!!! What???? You have to be kidding me. Did he ever call me back? NO!!! So I called for the 4th time and yet again the rep could not assist me so I asked for a supervisor. I was told she was on the phone but could call me back. I agreed to that. Did I EVER get a callback?? NO!!! I couldn't take it anymore. Let me say this..............I tried texting a rep at 54512 as instructed. Did anyone answer? Yes but 20 minutes after I sent it. So I figure I would try the chat feature. I e-mailed myself the transcript. In fact did you know you can get a subpoena to see the notes in your account? I called this morning and it took 2 transfers and 3 reps to get to retention. I was ready to disconnect. I'm done. After speaking with her she assured me I was getting the modem at noo charge. We will see. I would NOT be surprised if there's a problem when it arrives and also I bet they charge me even though I was told it was free. I have now spent 2-3 hours of my time and another 20 minutes to write this. They didn't offer my anything for all thisd aggravation. If it was me, I would have at least have offered me some credit. The man asked if I wanted service. I said no it was too expensive compared to other providers for what I was looking for. He said who I said att I told him the amount for the att service. He said nope your wrong thats a lie. I said thank you for calling a potential client a liar. He said no problem you lied, your a liar, I tell it like it is and started rambling on so I hung up. OMG! This company really sucks. I have been on the since 9:30 a.m. talking with tech support concerning my webmail. This asses, can not figure what wrong. All of my past emails account are now showing up in my webmail as inactive. They said it impossible, so they login and they see it. They come back and tell me we have to submit a ticket 24-48, issue will be taken care off. Well 48 has come and left and I still having the same problem. Now they have me on hold for an 11/2. Cable TV service is very often problematic. Freezes way too often and support has not been able to fix the issue. Called to cancel today to go for a better package with their competitor, AT&T. We pay $75 per month just for internet. We used to have cable + internet for that price but they bumped the price, as a surprise anniversary present a year later. Talked to a nice guy says he will get us cable like we had before along with cable for the price we are paying now & because AT&T offered 2 other rooms, he was checking on that, after 20 minutes on the phone we get disconnected, I call back get someone else who says she can't disconnect me to the previous person & looks at notes, sees I called about cancelling & tries to sell me packages that were more than double, wouldn't let me get a word in as she bad mouthed AT&T.. Can anyone help with this logic? I pay for a service. I don't get the service I have paid for. I get force upgraded, and now my bill is 20% higher than it was before. Let me explain, I have had #coxcomunications for a few years. And it seems as though every few months we have to go through a dance off and adjust services and plans. Well Ive been pretty content paying for the service I was receiving up until about mid march. So at the end of March I called and explained how I was not even receiving 5% of the Mbps i was the previous months. I was told they'd need to send a tech out and check out why this was happening, and that Id be charged a service fee if they determined it was my fault. Tech #1 comes out can't find anything, and simply swapped out the modem I rent from them. Service went from bad to worst, almost non existent. Once again I called #coxcomunications and they apologize and explain how they'd have to send out another tech out, which for me means I will be taking time off work for the second time, and Im out of luck for the time my service is down. Tech #2 come out, tell me I should hardwire everything and that I should just buy a modem from Best Buy "they're pretty cheap, like $100-$200". Well I pay for the modem I rent from #coxcomunications and I expect it to work. Needless to say nothing was fixed, but i did get a cool new T1 cable for my desktop. Again I call #coxcomunications and they again say they'll have to send a tech out. I was pretty upset at this point and customer service seemed to understand. So yes, once again I have to take time off work to meet the tech. Customer service had offer to up the Mbps I was receiving with the possibility it would offset all the loss I was receiving. I was ok with that, but had mentioned multiple time I was not happy and in no way would I pay for upgrades I just simply wanted the same service I had already been paying for and receiving in the previous months. This time when the tech came out he swap out the modem and was able to get the wifi signal through out the house. Service was good and all is well, so I thought. Checking my bill this month and its substantially higher. So I check out my bill for last month and to my surprise it was DOUBLED what I normally pay. So by this time I'm furious, so I call today and talk to billing, of course they can't help so they accelerate it to someone else. I explain how unhappy I am with this billing situation, I get a sassy answer about how I haven't called about the service since the end of April, and yes service is great as of late April. But I expelling the huge bill from last month and the increase of my monthly this month. Apparently they added a "customer protection plan" for a couple more dollars a month, apparently their just looking out for me because that plan covers service trips. So whats with this "one time service charge" that doubled my bill? "Oh thats because you upgraded your internet". I never once asked for a upgrade, "well a tech came out and upgraded your service so thats your agreement". Well then why am I being charged for the install if #coxcomunications took it apon themselves to charge me for a customer care plan, "oh I'm sorry that doesn't include upgrades" #coxcomunications Riddle me this... you have forced care plans that you can pick and choose what trips they cover?!? After a customer is denied service he pays for he is charged for forced upgrades that drastically increase monthly cost!!! I have been a customer for years with Cox here in Las Vegas. Our family is relocating to an urban area in AZ that does not offer Cox. In speaking with the rep about having our service disconnected she informed me that I would need to return the phone modem and the internet modem that we have. I was not aware I had a phone modem. Our home phone has been disconnected for years! I asked when the last time we used our phone modem and she said we updated 7 years ago so it has not been used for that long. Then i asked how much they are going to charge me if I cannot locate it? about $120. What? Why wouldn't they ask for it back when the upgrade is done? She said that there is nothing that can be done. Bad service. Constant interruption in internet. I'm so annoyed. I pay for the highest speed internet possible. I watch tv through streaming services with my internet. I am CONSTANTLY (1-2 times an hour) going to unplug the router to restart the network. The constant interruption in service is very inconvenient and occurs so often that I am at my wits end. Cannot wait until another company start servicing our area so we could finally switch from Cox. Bunch of thieves. So much for free market and competition... We started off with the most basic internet (which is way slower than the Time Warner Cable equivalent we used to have) and had to pay an installation fee of like $75. A few months go by, and my husband decided he wanted to get cable, so I told him to call and figure out a good price, and for a second there it sounded too good to be true, so I told him - sure, we can afford it, tell them to add it. He went to pick up the cable box so we can set it up ourselves but what do you know - we connected it and got nothing. We called and were told there is currently an outage in our area (off to a great start already). So we waited. The next day, still nothing, called again. Technician tried to help us over the phone and after following all the steps, it still didn't work, so someone had to come out here to set it up, not saying a word about another installation charge. But hey, bill cycle ended and I got an email saying the bill is ready, and this time they were so kind to charge us only $55 instead of $75 for installation. And also a few bucks for the cable box, apparently. The nerve. At least have the decency to alert your clients about installation charges before you send out a technician to us. Ugh. Just had an unpleasant experience with a COX installer. i live in a condo community...we have clearly numbered parking spaces that we actually own. I retruned from shopping to find a COX truck parked in my spot. According to HOA rules I am not permitted to park anywhere else. I found the unit he was working in and asked that the truck be moved. The intstaller came out with an unhappy look on his face. I pointed out the number painted in the space and he said "how am I supposed to know what that means? I told him. He added that the visitors spots were too far away.(so he knew the rules) All this with a belligerant attitude. I said I could complain to COX. He said COX does not care. I shot a photo of his license number and he tried to get me to wait and shoot a picture after he removed his truck and parked elsewhere. I did not wait. Thinking he might honestly not know the violation he did, I told him, as friendly as I could that he could be towed. This might save him grief at some other time. His response was I'll be out of here before the tow truck arrives. He also said I had no appreciation for the work he does. I tried to find an email address to complain to COX. No such luck. Perhaps I should have called the tow tuck, but maybe as he said. COX doesn't care. read more

I am giving no stars, Cox lies to you, don't believe a word they say! I got Cox again after not having it for over 3 years, and I am so sorry that I did! They told me that my bill would only go up $20 after one year, and it went up over $34! They said it was taxes! $14 more for taxes on only $20 more a month! You've got to be kidding me! The supervisor si talked to, I was so upset, that I didn't get her name , just kept making excuses and said that was what I had to pay, and didn't care about the fact they they lied to me at the beginning and that I told her that I only wanted to pay the $20 a month more and I would pay $4 more for taxes! She would rather lose a customer , that by the way, has been a good customer for over 30 years, less the 3 years I went to ATT! Cox is a waste of time. I made the mistake of canceling my DirecTV account because they raised their rates by $55/month (yes, $55/month!!) I reviewed a Cox "bundle"online that looked promising (Silver Duo) and I "chatted" online with a Cox representative about this bundle; it, ultimately, was the package I chose. The monthly cost, as shown on the website, was to be $120.98, I verified the cost with my chat person (my bundle was for TV and Internet.) The day after the installation, I checked my account and my monthly cost was $155!!! Of course I called Cox. All EIGHT customer service reps (including "loyalty" reps) had different excuses why that number showed on my account. I finally was able to reach a "supervisor" that told me, "If you had looked at the fine print on the last page of the information you would see that taxes were not included with the price shown online." Really! He said "fine print" and "look at the last page"!! So I'm to believe that there was $35 worth of taxes that were added. My relationship with Cox Communications is soon to be ended. Stay away from this ridiculous company. read more
