Goodness. After having Cox for 10 years, I switched to AT&T 10 years ago. I left Cox because of their horrible customer service and unprofessionalism. Figured Cox might be better by now, so we signed up on a promotional offer. Their Internet connectivity has been horrible. And the Cox Santee store truly exemplifies their horrible customer service. I needed to switch out my defunct modem, and was told that the Cox Santee store would be open for sure. I triple-checked this, as I didn't want to pull out our entertainment center and disconnect everything, only to find out that the store wouldn't be open as promised. I was assured that the store would be open from 10am - 2pm on December 24th. I tried to call the store directly repeatedly over previous week, but they do not answer their phone. Ever. So, I took the plunge and proceeded with pulling out the entertainment center, disconnecting the cable modem, and taking it into the store to switch it out at noon today. Sure enough, the store was closed even though the hours listed on the door specific to December 24th stated they should be open as Cox had promised they would be - from 10am to 2pm. Calling in to speak with a Cox supervisor, I was informed that the store personnel had taken it upon themselves to shut the store down without having Cox' permission, while still putting in for the full hours they were being paid to keep the store open until 2pm. And somehow there was a profanity-laced note -inside- the glass window adjacent to the front door, complaining the store wasn't open when it was supposed to be. Not sure if someone broke into the store to leave it. Sure enough, there were plenty of customers showing up and leaving in the short time we were there. Even the Brinks armored truck stopped by. It appears Cox' horrible customer service and complete lack of professionalism hasn't change a bit since I decided to leave 10 years ago specifically due to those reasons. I can't even imagine management team that runs the Cox Santee store. What a joke. Ended up just having a replacement cable modem sent by mail. And I'll drop the defunct unit off at the UPS store to not have to deal with this store. I mean, how do I know if they'll even be open if they won't answer their telephone and their posted hours mean nothing? read more

I'm honestly not a fan of the actual cable service. It's average, borderline sub par. But this location impressed me. I stopped by on a Saturday morning at like 1004 to turn in my cable box. I was out of there and in my car by 1011. There were about 15 people already in front of me when I got there. They had a good system servicing people there and did not give me a hassle. One of the worst customer service team I have ever had to deal with, My dad is a new customer having issues with internet, engineer comes out for 2 mins Cox bills him $75 for the visit because he blames the WIFI. I called them to let them know that a: everything is hard wired and I just tested the line by connecting my laptop to the modem and the line still disconnects. Been with Cox Since 1993. One of the first customer to get cox cable in Santee. Till Today. $193 per month for Digital TV and Internet at my home. I when in today to turn in my Cox box since I switched to Direct TV $72.99 includes all the Movie channels for one year and 105.55 for the second year. I was going to keep Cox internet for 60.99. But you know what Miguel in Sales in Santee said internet will go to 66.99 since you turned in TV connection. After being a customer for over 20 + years. Miguel just said that's the way it is. Well do you know what they lost my internet service at home and my San Diego Brewery Internet service and my whole phone system. We paid $400 a month. I just called Direct TV Service they are installing the dish today for the Brewery its $73.99 for all the channels ( including sports) and $115.00 second year and its wireless in the business not boxes all over the place and includes our ATT phone system. They will transfer you number to there system. So you do not lost your phone number. Prior to visiting the Cox Store in Santee CA I went online and learned they are very busy so get there early if you can. They do provide benches if needed for waiting outside. FOR THE SOLUTIONS STORE ONLY, NOT THE COX PRODUCT OVERALL. NICE JOB! The store opens at 10am and I arrived at 9:55am on a Thursday, and there were about thirty people ahead of me. Due to their well-organized intake system, I only waited about ten minutes, seated on a somewhat-comfortable couch, before I was able to drop off my cable modem. Trevor was efficient and courteous, and the process took just two minutes. There used to be a Cox store much closer in El Cajon, and years ago I remember standing in line for just two or three minutes, but that place was a dump. So, I ordered gigablast, had all the correct equipment hooked up, but performance was in the 200 mb range, nowhere near the 1k promised. Called for assistance, they sent a tech out, left a message that if the tech found the problem to be with the computer or a filter of some sort, there would be a charge, if it was with their equipment, no charge. The tech discovered that the signal coming in from their end was too strong, and put a device on the end of the cable line to reduce the signal strength. Then they added a charge to my bill, a $55 dollar fee for a one time service fee. Calling to ask why, I was informed it was because they came into my house and installed the signal reducer, that by being in the house, that made the cable line my equipment, so it was subject to service fee. My response was that they could have installed a similar device, outside at the group cable box that belongs to cox, where all the cable for the home assoc is connected or disconned, but they chose to install it inside. Their response was to try to sell me a monthly protection plan that would eliminate such charges. I'm still only getting 400 mbps for their supposed 1000 mbps gigablast service. Unwilling to spend $55 for every tech visit to fix it, or to be pressured into buying monthly insurance to cover tech fees for them to fix problems that originate with their signal. read more

We have been with Cox for 2 years now, I went to see if they have any rebate for us as we are good customers, the guy was very nice at the beginning, then he said they have promotions for new customers only, he answered very rude, that's how business work. when I told him I will cancel because ATT is giving me a very good option he became very rood and didn't answer any of my questions. I went in to change out my modem because it quit working. No problem with that. But then "Christine" started telling me about Homelife and how i could save a lot of money on alarm system - free installation, low monthly cost, etc etc. I made an appt and then received email to review order. Over $1300 for "installation package", $60 per month for monitoring, $4 per month for "pad". A typical "bait and switch". When I called to cancel, "Juan" started to tell me there would be a charge for cancellation. Told him I never signed any contract and the installation wasn't even completed so he backed off. We needed to swap out out modem for the newer/updated version. I took a chance and drove to the storefront at 1115am . Was greeted immediately and helped within 5 mnutes. The service rep (I wish I had kept his name - he was fantastic) answered questions I had about our DVR and made an apppintment for a tech to come to our house to look at the problem. He also showed me how to use our tablets to watch TV (this will prevent arguments on football days). The modem was swapped, an appointment made, a helpful suggestion offered and I was in my car headed home in 20 minutes. No pushy sales attempt - just helpful service. What a novel idea!! The Cox Store in Santee California is horrible. I did not even want to give this store even one star! I went in today to discuss my bill and talked to a young man named Miguel. I was not happy when I was told that the discount dropped off and I would know that if I was responsible with my bills. It was not Cox Communications responsibility to tell me anything. They have to many customers to worry about anyone person. This young man was very disrespectful and condescending in attitude They are not willing to talk to anybody within the organization on your behalf. I came here to acquire one of Cox Cable's "mini boxes". Christopher was very helpful and to-the-point, and got me set up with a new mini box and out the door in less than 15 minutes. Cox Communications seems to be a big bloated company that seems to be dragged by innovations rather than being innovators. While their television and Internet service is generally excellent (lately though, they are going through a lot of outages in my area which aren't getting fixed), it is generally WAYYY overpriced. This company needs to experience some REAL competition instead of them being the only rodeo in town, which in turn, would force them to be way more competitive in the pricing of their services. Their tech crews (which are subcontracted to another company) often come off as a legion of thugs just released from prison. read more

Went in to exchange a cable box after a rep at the store told me they had new upgraded boxes. Decided not to get the upgraded box since the rep failed to mention it would cost more. Instead exchanged the box for the exact one and proceeded home. The girl rep at the store had a big ATTITUDE because I questioned our bill. I asked her to look back a few months to when we came in before and spoke with the other rep who told us our bill was lower than what she was stating to see what happened. She acted like we were making this info up and refused to look back past the previous month, saying it doesn't matter what it was because this is what it is now. We then went home and spent 45 minutes on the phone with tech support to try and get audio from the box but was unsuccessful. The following day I went back to the store and told the same girl something was wrong with the box and she have me a new box with an actual instruction sheet that was not given to me the day before. This instruction sheet explained how to get audio from the box. Why she didn't give me this instruction sheet the day before is beyond me. Surely the job isn't so difficult that you can't hand an instruction sheet with a cable box. Somehow between the two visits to the cox store, our cable gets disconnected. We then go without cable TV for the next 4 days because no one at tech support can figure out why our service was disconnected which was attributed to us requesting a switch in the primary account holder name. By the way, the girl with the attitude at the store said this was no big deal and there would be no interruption in service. On the day they actually turn our cable TV back on, (4 days later) our home phone gets disconnected by cox and we've been without home phone service for the past 5 days because tech support and the girl at the store can't figure it out. Everyone we've spoken with has apologized for the person we spoke previously but still hasn't been able to fix the problem. This is how they treat a disabled veteran. I just want to say out of this whole bad experience that is ongoing, the girl rep at the cox store is the most anti-customer service person I have ever had to deal with. She doesn't LISTEN to the customer, she just assumes everyone must come in for the same problem so let me cut them off and proceed like a robot. There are many unemployed people out there who would love a job and would appreciate hers enough to care about what they do. read more

Went to this location this morning to exchange my Wifi modem to a non Wifi one. Got there 5 minutes before open and there was a line of about 25 people. I thought to myself, oh hear we go. I expected to have wait a while to get help. As soon as they opened the doors, the manager first asked if anyone was just here to pay their bill. That weeded out quite a few people in line. Then they took names down and the reason we were there. I got my ticket and within 5 minutes my name was called and nice gentleman helped me out. I asked him if he could reset my internet signal since I was only getting 32mbps down when I should have been getting at least 50 down. He said no problem and if my speeds are still slow, then he suggested I call tech support. I was impressed with how they handled the morning rush so smoothly. Obviously they do this every morning. They opened at 10am, and I was in my car headed home by 10:14am. When I got home and all set up, my speeds doubled after he reset my signal. Overall I rate this store a 5 star from my experience. read more

I just purchased my house in Santee . The people who lived in the house before us never turned off their Cox account. So I had to go to this location and show proof of new ownership.. I got to the store at ten AM and waited an hour and a half to get help. The amount of people working compared to the amount of people waiting was a off ratio three people working a ,along with a greeter, and two employees walking around doing nothing with over twenty people in the lobby. Once I was help the Lady helping me was very helpful and explained the self starter kit that my husband could do himself so I didn't need to have a someone from Cox come to my house. Also I could rent the box for $6.95 a month instead of buying it for $149.00 . Once I was helped I was happy with the staff but the waiting almost two hours with two kids under five by the time it was my turn my kids were tired I was tired the Lady keep trying to sell me upgrades my kids wanted to leave. I just wanted out of the store as fast as I could. I guessbi would have given more stars if I didn't have to wait forever to get my problem solved . read more

I signed up with Cox in May of 2018. They told me at the time that there would be no two year contract, now they tell me I am under a two year contract. They lied to me!!! I moved over to Cox because AT & T had a two year cancellation and I had to pay it because I was moving at the time. I went with Cox so I would not get stuck in another two year contract. Well, because Cox lied to me I'm stuck in another contract. These cable companies rip people off all the time with these charges. People should boycott these places. It's so unfair. I'm on a fixed income and can't afford these prices going up like they just did because I went over the one year mark, or expensive cancellation fees. They also charge me $35.00 for a second TV that when I ask what are the savings if I cancel the second TV they tell me $10.00. I said why only $10.00 when my bill says $35.50? He said the extra is for fees, taxes and surcharges. Wow! What a rip off and very deceiving to the customer. There is already a charge of $6.41 for taxes, fees and surcharges at the bottom of my bill. Also, a supervisor hung up on me when she didn't like what I said about the company deceiving me. I couldn't make mine work so I called Cox tech support and wound up in the press this and press that menu. I wanted to speak to someone from the place that had given me the box so I called the store and said I had a question about hooking up my mini box. She didn't even listen to my question she just cut me off and said "I'll connect you to tech support" and the next thing I knew I was right back at the recorded menu I had just hung up on. We went here on a Saturday to return our modem since we had purchased our own. The wait wasn't too bad - about 20 minutes. The staff member at the front door asked if we wanted to drop it off, which meant no receipt. We decided to wait. The person who helped us was very friendly and seemed competent. We left with our receipt. Good thing, too, because now it is 2 bill cycles later and we are still getting charged for the modem rental. I just got done with Cox's online chat, which is obviously based overseas. He asked if I had a receipt. He also needed me to provide the address for the Cox store in Santee. Do they not have access to this information? I'm really amazed with the technology out there that the barcode on the modem couldn't have been scanned with instant credit to our account. Had a bad experience at this location, I went in around 9:00 a.m. today, a representative by the door took my name and told me to have a seat that I was gonna be called by a teller, more customers started coming in, well I kept waiting but my name wasn't called instead they kept calling the customers that came in after me so I had to approach the teller and that was the only way I was served, I had to return some equipment, hopefully I never have to stop by this store never again, didn't like their service at all. read more

Called to ask about getting an extra box for my house when denise answered the call.. while explaining to her she says she was gunna transfer my call. I figured she was going to transfer me to someone in the store that could help me but while I was waiting on hold it transferred me to an automated system then hung up. I called the store back & denise answered again, I explained the call disconnected, she said okay let me just give you the number. I asked is this number to someone else in the store? Since my issue could be resolved there I didn't need to talk to an automated system. She stated that she was transferring me to customer service? I didn't need customer service I needed to talk to an associate at the store. She said she was unable to help me and everyone in store was busy so she was just gunna connect me.. I explained to her again I DID NOT need that! She got super rude with me so I told her I needed to talk to someone who can help she said again they were busy I told her I would wait but she said they don't do that when they are busy they just connect customers to customer service?? Then in the middle of me talking she just hung up the phone. HORRIBLE way to talk to a paying customer & not sure why I couldn't just hold to speak to someone who knows what they are doing?? I have been a cox customer for 30 years. At the beginning of January my internet went out and I was told I needed to replace my modem. At the time of the call the person on the phone said she would get it in the mail to me that same day. One week later no modem...I call again and the clerk on the phone says the person I spoke to was an "idiot" and he never completed the work order. But she would get it in the mail today...10 days later and still no modem. Called today and the lady said the same thing, the last guy was an "idiot" and never completed the order and she would send it out in the mail today, I decided to walk into the store to pick it up instead, and the people in there are just as bad. 20 min wait to pick up a modem and Im listening to the staff engage in small talk and sales type conversations. So now that I have Cox Ultimate, they increased speeds to 300 download and 30 upload. However, when I called in to ask about the Cox rented Ubee modem/router I was informed it would work. I check on the day of speed increase rollout and.....nope. Still only 150 mbps. I call in and was told by a tier 2 tech the Ubee cannot handle the bandwith. So I call this Cox solutions store and ask if they have certain modems that handle the speeds. I was informed they do. So I ask them to verify and I was transferred. The new rep tells me they have Arris but not Motorola that handle the speeds. Hmmm...last I checked Arris is Motorola. Once I mention that....I am hung up on. So I head down to the Santee location. I barely step into the door when I am greeted. I explain what happened. The girl blankly stares at me. Some other rep (taller bald thin older man with an accent) intervenes and says the location does not carry any modems I need. I say "When I just called, the rep said you do". He says "The were wrong", I said "So Cox is becoming Comcast. You tell customers what they want to hear and then lie about it after?" He said "nobody lied. They just told you the wrong thing. If you want I can return your modem and cancel your service." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow...That escalated quickly. I explain to him I felt lied to and he began to walk away. He turns and says "I'm not going to argue. You can leave my store." Now I am pissed. I raise my voice, say a few unsavory words and start to head out. A customer walks over to me and says she has dealt with this guy (Baldie) and hates him. Apparently this is his routine. As I walk away he yells back I am no longer allowed to go to his store. I was actually banned from a Cox Solution store. So, if you stand up to this guy, he will attempt to throw you out and then ban you. As I walked back to my truck ANOTHER customer said they have dealt with this guy before as well and he refuses to help. It's either his way or no way. Just drive the extra few miles to another store. On Feb 20 2016 we went to this Cox location to set up our account. You know how these things go with the pricing- you have to take careful notes because of the BS. Jazmine told us our contract would be for 2 years and the pricing was the same for 2 years. I am looking at the copious notes I took at the meeting. My husband was also present. We were thrilled that the price would be set for two years. Then Jazmine said there was a $20.00 increase for the second year but that was a one time charge and it was prorated over the second year. Again, I am looking at the notes I took. Still, that was acceptable to us so OK. Well now it is the second year and lo and behold the price has increased $20 a month for a grand total of $240 for the year. When we contacted customer loyalty we talked to Sal who was basically not interested and stated it was impossible that one of their sales people would say that because they are not trained that way. Well they did and it was a con job. Sal would do nothing for us and even stated that one of our questions was ridiculous. We were deliberately lied to by Cox so they could make a sale. How sleazy. So Cox we are dumping you for another provider even though our contract is not up- they will pay the difference and give us a better deal! read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. Problems with cable/DVR box since the beginning. Only picked Cox because TWC not available here. Constantly have to have box reset-multiple times a month. Have had tech guys sent out only to tell us there is no problem! Are you kidding me?? Picture constantly freezes but they can't tell me why or reboots itself without warning. So irritating. Last week called and we were told since we had history of problems they wanted to send tech out AGAIN!! Waste of my time. They never find anything wrong. In the last week I wasted nearly 3 hours on the phone trying to resolve these issues. It'd just be easier to switch to Direct TV-the only other provider. They have you when there's only ONE cable provider available. Did NOT have issues when had TWC. Cox is overpriced with way too many problems. Scrambling to watch all my recorded programs because now Cox is bringing new DVR/Cable boxes out. So if we don't watch our recorded programs by our appointment time then we loose them.
