Update to the update. WE are still having trouble with the DVR! today I went to the store and was basically laughed at because I felt their service is less than reliable. I have had to reset the box several times on my own and had techs out to my house to change the box, but what is the use of a DVR if you keep losing your shows? Basically, none! So just want to let you know how COX is with their customers. Last Update: We had the same problem with that stupid DVR box again. I just want to cancel. It is a bunch of trouble when it goes down. Cox Cable is a rip off. I'm paying $195 a month for internet and two cable boxes for two TV's. No special channels and I'm having to call an average of once a month because of cable related issues. Tonight I'm calling because my recordings are not working again. Second night in a row and now they tell me it's going to take 24-48 hrs to fix the problem. Then they tried to screw me over on a refund of just yesterday of $3.97 when I did the math it cost me $6.50 a day !!!! Nice try you crappy cable company. Stopped by the "Solutions" store to return some equipment. Was required to check in to do so. There were already 8 people sitting and waiting to be seen by an employee of the store. At one point there were 7 employees (4 with dark blue shirts and 3 with light blue shirts) milling about the store, not helping any of the waiting customers. After waiting almost 20 minutes for contact by an employee was able to drop off their equipment. Was due a refund for some unused days of service. Would the money due be refunded at the store, heck no, you have to wait "about two weeks" for the refund to be mailed. Absolutely terrible customer service, but what is new when it comes to Cox. I called cox and was on the phone for almost 30 minutes with a technician trying to fix the issue when we were disconnected and I was not called back so I decided to try my luck going to the Santee location. Although the store does not have any service techs on site, Jessica was able to help me fix the issue. She did a great job and was so helpful! read more

I went to change out my box. Got there maybe 10 min. before the doors opened, and I estimate I was #30 thru the door. I set the stopwatch on my phone a minute after I was registered. I turned it off when I walked out of the building. It was less than 12 minutes. Kudos to Dennis. He was a credit to the store. That's the complement. Let me share some observations. While waiting to enter I was in a group conversation with several others that experienced the same situation I had the night before. Our cable boxes failed on Friday night. There must have been more than a dozen with the same box. Just before I signed in a lady leaving made a comment that if your box quit last night, it would now work. I did not elect to leave, but wanted to get a new box. Cox has been trying to get customers to change to the new "mini boxes". I chose not to change because most reviews on these indicated many problems connecting them. Dennis tried his best to upgrade the box and up-sell the service. I respect him for that, and for the tact with which he accepted my rejection. I started this visit with prejudice based on my last visit. Today's experience righted the ship. The saga continues. Walked in & was asked what I needed help with. Me: I would like to trade in my Contour box for the new Contour 2 box. Sign in girl: OK, you are on the list. 30 minute wait. Me: That's cool, thanks. 40 minutes goes by, I get to the counter. Counter boy: We don't have the new boxes in store, you have to schedule an appointment. Why the hell did the sign in girl not know that? Quit wasting my time! C'mon Google Fiber! Got a second Contour box for the house at the Cox store. Rep says "Follow these instructions to install, then call this number to activate the box. To sync the new box to the main box to watch and record shows via the new box, call this number and they will walk you through syncing the boxes" Setup went fine. Activated itself, all channels appear to work. Called the number to sync boxes: "Sorry, we have to send out a tech to do that" "WHAT!? Rep at your store said I could do it over the phone!" "I do apologize sir, they have been doing that a lot lately, but I can schedule a tech to come out on Tuesday" Two thumbs down. The only reason for the second star is the AC, free wifi and Spongebob Squarepants playing on a TV in the lobby. read more

Very rude and unhelpful employees. No one wanted to help, and when I asked how long the wait was the employee looked like it was a chore for him just to tell me. They wanted me to wait 30+ mins just to return old equipment, I only stopped by since I was in the neighborhood. But once I saw the wait and rude service I left and requested a free prepaid box and label online, and simply dropped it off at the UPS. On july 14 went to cox store located in mission gorge/ santee office. At the front door they refer me to ( Christina ) I just asked here when is my cycle for the $29.99 will end ?and the $59.99 will start.it took me couple minutes just to have my simple question answered, then i asked if there is any promotion or plans to reduce the $59.99 then she started to be really rude and bad attitude by not answering any question. Then just asked if I cancel my plan can we have a new plan with better deal ? She kicked me out of the store . Here am asking the management staff in this store : Is that the way you guys treat your customers in store? I never felt bad like today to get treated so bad from Christina and btway I have been with cox since December 2012. That was my first time visiting cox store in person instead of calling. What a mess. Only location in East county. It was hot, other than the young girl at the door staff not overly friendly. There's only one pay yourself machine and the line was long. Waiting time to talk to an associate was over 30 minutes. It also took me three trips (3 months) to get my billing corrected. I have NEVER asked to go paperless because I am a visual person, as I explained to them each time I went ther, but, I was almost late paying my bill over 2 of those months because I did' receive a paper bill. Fortunately my neighbor tells me when he gets his bill just to make sure I received mine, which I didn't. I finally got to a real supervisor who corrected the problem for me. Came here to swap out our ancient Cox box for Contour. Linda helped us out. Very friendly, helpful, answered all of our questions and gave us a quick demo. Took about fifteen minutes. No waiting on a Wednesday before the lunch crowd. Easy parking. The lot is too small for the amount of stores so I can see that being a problem at peak hours. There's parking behind the buildings. Had issues getting the box working but a quick call to Cox had us up and running. read more

I have to say the customer service was amazing. I know this place got bad reviews for whatever reason. Sure there is a wait, because there are busy with a store full of customers and they take their time. They don't rush their customers out. Your wait is solely based on the customers ahead of you and what they requires assistance on. There was one employee giving a gentlemen a whole rundown on how Contour works on their display and answered every single question he had with excitement and passion. My experience was short and sweet. I had to drop a box off. When I was next a beautiful woman Christine called my name, greeted me, shook my hand and asked what I could be helped with. She was nothing short of sweet, attentive, engaged, empowered the true definition of customer service. She even walked me to the door and said thank you, have a great day and opened the door for me! I want to start off by saying this is not against the store itself. I have now talked to Cox 4 times in the last 2 weeks to cancel my cox service. I am past due on my account because I was waiting for a final bill from cox so that I could pay them and be done with it. I called 2 weeks ago to cancel and that did not happen the person was super unhelpful and transferred me to the business department when I am residential than they transferred me to the residential department to cancel my service. The lady who answered stated that I could just wait until the end of April and they will disconnect my service themselves I stated no I want my service cancelled now. She said she did it than I got a call 2 days later from the billing department stating if I didn't pay my bill they would disconnect my service and I explained that my service should already be disconnected and I am waiting on the final bill to pay it, he said he would take care of it and make sure it gets disconnected. I received a call from a man named Alex who was calling about my cox account and he proceeded to tell me that I should of gotten the names of the agents and a conformation number which I am usually pretty good about but I have a bunch of family stuff going on so I didn't. He kept saying that I should of gotten this information and I got a little bit upset and stated that I shouldn't have to get a conformation number or the agents name if they did their job. He than hung up on me. So not only was I dis satisfied with the internet service I had always having to unplug my router to get it to work. They didn't even care that I was cancelling or ask why or try and keep my business not that I would of stayed but I worked for at&t and I always treated my customers with respect and tried to understand what they had gone through and why they were not happy. I just can't believe that this type of customer service is allowed I would of been fired if I had treated our customers this way or suspended. So I hope everyone else has a better experience than I did I might have caught these 5 representatives on a bad day. read more

Our cox service for phone, internet and cable have been off since February just about every day. You call they send a tech person who says can't help you because cannot come in your house. I am sure they come in to install new service they aren't going to be turning down there business. But we will definitely continue to send you a bill and expect you to pay. Every time you call you get someone different and you get told something different. I know understand why Cox Communications only has 1 1/2 stars. In San Diego many things are open you can even go to some restaurants. read more

We have two TIVO DVR's - they told us REPEATEDLY - that the COX MINI BOX would work with our TIVO'S. IT WILL NOT. Idiot people, with no training, no working knowledge base here. The only reason I didn't give four stars is because I had a few issues with billing which is a problem as cox as a whole and the store is obviously a branch of them. But this location is great and people working here are great if you need to speak to someone in person instead of the phone this is the place to go. read more

This store is horrible/ From the start to the end. My grandmother passed away and her account was to be cancel. A death certificate was provided and they kept giving me the run around. We presented a death cert and still not cancelled they told me to call a number which I've done. Seem like no one there knows what to do. Makes me sick how they respond so generic they don't care. Cox is changing all our TV channels to digital. I tried most of the day to contact the Santee store for help and got a busy signal. I finally called a national Cox number and after a long wait they told me that I needed an IR Blaster so our Tivo could communicate with the Cox Mini Box. They said Cox does not mail these Blasters and that I would have to travel to the Santee store to get one. In frustration I called Tivo who referred me to the wonderful folks at WeaKnees.com who sent me the IR Blaster and it arrived the next day (see my glowing Yelp review of WeaKnees). I need to know exactly where the IR Sensor is on the Cox Mini Box to aim the IR Blaster. I teach Digital Signal Processing for universities and have written 2 books on DSP but the Cox protocols are very arbitrary and there is no mention of the details I need in any Cox documentation. If there is ANY way to leave Cox and save the $250+ monthly charge I would be interested. Perhaps using a little more of the corporate profits to provide better documentation, technical support and/or increase staff at the Santee (and I'm sure other) offices would help Cox keep customers. Cox is not MY friend in the digital age. read more
