Oh my God! This place reminds me of my very first job while in middle school, which was at Steak N Shake. Very similar environment, and food served. Wowzers! But anyway, I finally caught this place dead, with parking spots free! I have wanted to come here in the past, but said "the hell with it", because it was packed; along with parking being limited to mostly the neighborhood. Hint hint, yelpers; this place is dead afternoon on the week days. Food ordered was two pancakes; hash browns; three bacon strips, and scrambled eggs, which was very great! This is my first time being at Cozy Corner. I just moved into Rodgers Park about a month and a half ago, and decided to go exploring for food this morning. I ordered the stuffed French toast combo, which also came with 2 eggs cooked any way you like and 3 piece of bacon, or any of of your choice. The French toast was amazing! Unfortunately I was only able to finish half of it but they offer containers for unfinished food. The server's name was Amy, I believe. She was very friendly & gave great service. Got here late morning on a freezing, windy city Sunday. Walked in the door frozen from the walk from the lakefront. The authentic retro vibe and decor welcoming and warm. It's a diner and we really didn't expect too much when we decided to come to this place. However, we did receive exceptional service and good breakfast food. I had the strawberry shortcake pancake with a side of eggs & sausage. The pancake was great but I especially liked the sausage. I give this place 5 stars mainly for the service. Every single person working there was attentive to our needs and made sure we were satisfied. At other places if you ask someone for more water or a box they may reply with "I'll let your server know." Here, no matter who you ask, THAT person will get it for you. Nice. read more

Absolute worst experience I've had preordering food in Chicago. At this point it doesn't matter what the food was like because the service (or lack thereof) and experience had been atrocious. My food has supposed to have been ready for over an hour, no organization for customers ordering or paying (in a clearly over crowded and past capacity lobby). Had my suitcase, purse and travel tote with me. Entered CC and asked for a table for one. Was directed by one of the waiters to a booth around the corner. Um, my suitcase will block or at least impede the path. So I declined it only to have a booth in the back corner behind the original booth suggested. That's next to what looked like the coffee station. Again, I have a suitcase that's big enough that I need to check it plus two other carry ons. There were plenty of open tables and booths in the front room plus there seemed to be tables on the right side of the restaurant too. Why make me haul all my stuff and hide me in back? I don't appear homeless, I showered within the hour, my bags at a front table weren't in the way. It's a mystery. I generally like the Cozy Corner, Family Palace, Elly's type places. Just wanted to mention that this is located in Rogers Park, not in the Edgewater neighborhood as listed. I came here a few months ago for brunch. They have a daily special going on where you select the burger/sandwich of your choice, fries and a drink for $10. It's the perfect lunch combo. I tried the meat head burger. It was delightful and the portion was big! It came with cheese, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. I got my meat well done and it tasted great. I usually don't finish large portions of food and get it to go but I managed to finish this because it was so good. I tried their strawberry Nutella crepes and they were fair. Although they looked good when they brought it out, the taste was average. There was no Nutella on the inside, just drizzled on the outside. Great breakfast place! They offer different deals throughout the week. I love their skillets and Nutella crepés. They are one of the few breakfast places that are open early morning. They have outstanding costumer service.The only downside, their parking lot is small. It can be a challenge to find free street parking. My friend who is blind attempted to get a delivery. I had read her the food menu over the phone, we were delighted. She strives to be independent herself. She orders food from the neighborhood restaurants, often she does it by phone. She can't use the order online service. She calls explains to the person who picks up "I'm blind but, can you take my order" most places have no problem. But, cozy said, use the the order form online, we don't accept call orders by phone. She was devastated and speechless and to add hungry. Needless to say so was I. I was a frequent customer, followed them from their first Resturant on California street having second thoughts now, how rude ! Such a disadvantage, for people like my friend. I ordered the Billy goat omelette and recieved some weird mixture of two omelettes with pickled jalapenos and red peppers and avocado and and goat cheese. It was bland, spicy and there was a massive pocket of goat cheese that made up like 2/3 of the omelette. My wife ordered the corned beef hash skillet. It was missing many ingredients. It looked like they chopped up some dry corned beef and popped it on top of some raw hashbrowns. Disgusting. In an area with a ton of other breakfast options, go somewhere else. Pay less. I must have driven past Cozy Corner a thousand times without stopping in. No exaggeration. Only my offer of a birthday breakfast to a friend finally got me to stop in. Thank you, Betsy! It's probably a good thing that we came out on a weekday morning. This place must be jammed on weekends. The layout and décor are inviting, comfortable, and looked clean and neat. All big plusses in my book! Cozy Corner is one of those vanishing places that serves basic American food for breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices. While some breakfast entrees break the usual mold a little, the restaurant stays true to old favorites. The coffee is good, and it keeps coming. None of this fancy north side garbage where you don't get a refill, or, if you do, you have to pay $1.00. I was floating on a brown tide of coffee by the time we left, and I loved it. Betsy had eggs benedict, and I had the vegetable omelet with hash browns and an English muffin. I requested a couple changes to my omelette -- no spinach, no cheese -- and I got what I wanted. Both of us loved our meals. And boy, that is a filling meal! I finished eating at 10:30am, and I did not have any appetite till about 7:30pm, and then only for a small amount. You definitely get your money's worth here. We had a delightful, efficient waitress named Annie. if you get to sit in her section, you will be very happy. Another advantage to weekday dining is that we were able to sit and chat for almost two hours, and we never got the feeling they wanted us to go. The restaurant was only about 1/3 full, so they didn't need to turn the tables quickly. Breakfast at Cozy Corner was a terrific experience. I've always loved Cozy Corner. I've only been to this one in Edgewater but I've heard good things about the other locations too. I've come here for breakfast more times than I can count. I had lunch once - and it was good, don't get me wrong - but it doesn't beat their breakfast. The French toast is hands down my absolute favorite. I usually get it as the 3x4 combo with 3 eggs, 4 wedges of French toast, and a breakfast protein. Add a side of hashbrowns to split and we're good to go. The service is always friendly, Edgar and Martin are very nice. With the new normal that the 'rona brought us you've gotta wear your mask until you sit down, the menu is virtual, and certain tables are blocked off. No problem with that. read more

Tasty breakfast with average breakfast prices. Service is good and busy times vary for this place. You can add a variety of options to your pancakes. My favorite as of lately is the lemon marscapone with berries - strawberries and blueberries. My husband enjoys the skillet with skirt steak. It's cooked well and tastes great. I'm not crazy for the coffee here but the orange juice is good. They usually have cream of chicken on Sundays. Staff seems to know us and treats us well. I wrote this review a while ago when we first moved to the neighborhood, and I'm actually thinking that my first 3-star experience was a fluke, because we've been back (as I said, it's one of the only breakfast places in the 'hood!) and it's been SO good. The service is pretty good, even though we always seem to come when it's busy on weekend mornings. And everything I get on the menu is great, I bounce between sweet and savory breakfasts and my boyfriend always gets the classic burger. I work down the street from here. Great place for a lunch meeting or a lunch where I need to get away. Really good lunch specials for $9.99 where you get a sandwich, a ton of fries and a soft drink. I've had the Rueben, the California melt and a skillet and they were all fantastic. Service is quick and friendly. They also have a small parking lot. My only suggestion is to offer more soups. It's a diner. Would love if they had chicken noodle daily. read more
