Soup Cup TO-GO chicken wild rice

Honestly really good and homey diner brunch food!! I got it delivered to me because it's just one of those Sundays and it really hit the spot for me. I got the corned beef hash which came with an option to get a side of one of their fancy pancakes! The hash was great and great portion size too! I got the lemon berry capone pancakes and I wasn't expecting a stack! So delicious too. Lastly, I got the soup of the day which was chicken wild rice soup. It was pretty standard but no complaints here and the bread it came with was nice and fluffy. I'd totally get brunch from here again!

My dish (Belgium waffle combo + coffee) was standard and nothing outstanding. I sat at the bar and was intrigued by how synchronized the staff was. A server holding a tray of four full plates over her shoulder while holding a fifth plate with her right hand and maneuvering through the tight space between the front counter (where I ate) and the window to the kitchen. 5 professionals in the kitchen working to fill order-ins, take outs, and door dash. Another server makes sure everyone has a full cup of coffee. All 13-20 employees are constantly moving to keep the diner machine humming. The customers had a local community vibe. Old and young. It's a cornerstone gem that sits at the corner of Clark and Devon.

On a blisteringly cold morning in Edgewater, we hurried to Cozy Corner for some warmth and it arrived in a steaming mug of black coffee. Shortly after, I got my standard by which to measure any diner: two eggs over easy, three slices of bacon, hash browns and toast. The eggs were perfectly runny (with hot sauce on the table, always a plus), the bacon was crisp and salty, the toast was crunchy and soft at the same time. And the hash browns were a mix of browned and unbrowned. Just the way I like it. I worked my way through the standard American diner fare and as soon as my cup was empty, it was refilled by our server Maria V, who knew exactly what I needed before I asked. I always love a good diner, and Cozy Corner in Edgewater is a good diner for sure. If you haven't been here yet, give it a try!

This is a definitely our go to, really a regular tradition now, for me and my partner. The staff is so awesome and greets us warmly every time. The food is consistently delicious. They have an abundance of booth seating which we love! I think I've avoided writing a review cuz I don't want our spot to get too crowded if the secret gets out more than it already is!! There's a steady flow of customers which is always a sign of a good restaurant! And I love that the staff is happy! Super important! Definitely recommend this place!

Food and service were fantastic! Great greasy spoon spot. First place I've found in Chicago where the grits are done right. Jami was great!

Cozy Corner is always a super solid breakfast / brunch place, no matter which branch. I'll review Edgewater specifically, since I go regularly - probably ever other Sunday! - because it's always such a treat. The ambiance is always bright and cozy, the diner-style tables, booths, and bar are comfy, and the servers are absolutely lovely, efficient, and welcoming. Cozy Corner is always pretty solidly busy especially on weekends, but wait times are generally less than 15 minutes (in my experience). Limited parking lot available next to restaurant, but I believe parking is also available across the street at Devon Hardware. Food is always delicious and quick, and great portions - you really get a great value. This location serves 2 brunch cocktails as well - impressive Bloody Mary (according to my beau) and I can vouch for the delicious (and strong!) Mimosas (the freshly squeezed orange juice is phenomenal on its own, as well). For fun - If you use the "Too Good to Go" app that combats food waste, you can purchase a surprise bag of leftovers from Cozy Corner for $5.99 for pick up in the afternoon. They are quite popular and sell out quickly the night before! Did it once and got loads of delicious Macaroni and Cheese, Hash Browns (my weakness), and a large container of soup. Very fun! And I love that they help combat food waste this way. Breakfast or Lunch, this is an affordable go-to and neighborhood staple. Highly recommend.

I had a booooomb breakfast at cozy corner. Ok admittedly I just got the classics: scrambled eggs, bacon, and chocolate chip pancakes. But everything tasted so FRESH. The bacon I swear had to have been just cooked, it was hot and crispy and soooo good. The eggs were fluffy and delicious. The chocolate chip pancakes were plentiful! Everything was awesome. The prices were pretty steep but it was worth it! I feel like I pay similar (maybe slightly less) for the same breakfast at other spots but the food isn't nearly as fresh, tasty, or as large of portions. Highly recommend cozy corner for a casual breakfast spot! Oh - and they have flavored creamers for coffee. My fave!

The food was tasty but I got food poisoning and was out of commission for a day. I'd stay away from their cream based items.

The Original Pancake House has a menu to rival IHOP when it comes to pancake and crepe selection. So much to choose from! When we arrived around 8:15am, there were plenty of tables inside and outside on their tree covered patio, and the staff let us know we could sit anywhere we liked. We chose a table inside but the outside area is beautiful if you want to enjoy the Chicago summer. Our server arrived quickly and was very friendly. The kitchen was so fast it felt like she took our order, walked back to the kitchen, and returned with our meals. Their standard egg breakfasts come with a stack of pancakes - you can pay a little more to upgrade to one of the fun flavors, so we chose blueberry. The portions were so massive I ended up ordering two side dishes for my breakfast, and I still couldn't finish it all. The blueberry pancakes were filled with fresh blueberries and SO good, the egg scramble with feta was delicious, and the home fries were pretty good. Our server asked if I wanted them crispy. I said no, but I should have said yes. They were a little soft - still delicious - but you can tell they'd be even better with a bit of a crispy edge. The prices may seem a little high, but when you see how much food you get for the price, you'll realize what a deal it is. Each meal could easily feed two people! We were in and out in under an hour and everyone who worked here was lovely. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu on our next visit!

The menu is also pretty extensive, with everything from ramen and udon to small bites, soufflé pancakes, teas, and smoothies. I stopped in mid-morning during the week, and there were already quite a few people in the café. I decided to try the Strawberry Pancakes with the Strawberry Passion Fruit Lemonade. The pancakes are made to order, so expect about a 10-15 minute wait, depending on how busy they are. My tea arrived pretty quickly and had a really nice balance of strawberry and passion fruit. I could taste both flavors without one overpowering the other, which I appreciated. I've had soufflé pancakes before, so I knew what to expect. These were nice and airy and definitely passed the jiggle test. The strawberry topping was delicious and reminded me of a flavored whipped cream. It paired really well with the pancakes without being too heavy. Overall, I had a great experience at Hanabusa Cafe.

Listen, the menu is extensive. So many options, so many variations. You can have this, swap this for that, add a third, okay?! The coffee was amazing. I think I had an Americano or something, but whatever it was, it was totally amazing. The fruit was fresh. The food was delicious. The portions are huge, and the flavors taste like they were made with love. And listen, the cheesecake, child! That is on a whole other level. She gave us some samples, and oh my gosh! I need to have that thing shipped to me. Then she suggested some kind of roux or sauce for the catfish. Oh. My. God. The buss-down was crazy! The vibe? The ambiance? Chef's kiss. The people? Listen, that's home. Chi-Town is my home... born and raised. Even though I'm from there, this time I wanted to experience Chicago as a tourist, without our kids, who are now young adults. The decor was totally vibey, divey, and all the things. They had real plants, and since I'm a new plant mom, of course I was loving every bit of that. I'm like, okay! Monsteras up in that joker piece! They also had fresh flowers on the tables, which was such a nice touch. Our waitress was phenomenal! Because I waited so long to write this review, I don't remember her name, but I'm telling you, she was amazing. She treated us like tourists, okay? She listened when we explained that we were doing the Chicago tourist thing and gave us the full experience. I loved that she took that into consideration, so kudos to her! There was also a young girl celebrating her birthday with her family, and it was so adorable watching her little sister run over to their family members. The whole place just had such a warm, welcoming, at-home feeling. We truly enjoyed ourselves, and I even walked away with a shirt because I loved the ones the staff was wearing. It was the perfect little homage to my hometown. Honeybear Cafe, we will definitely be back!
