We had a large group of 9 so our waitress was definitely challenged, but she handled it very well and we didn't have to wait an unreasonable amount of time for anything. Finally sat down at The Original Pancake House again. I went for a quick breakfast date with my boyfriend, and as always, it did not disappoint! I had the Dutch baby here a decade ago but could not remember how it tasted and I'm happy to report that on my recent visit, this dish was delightful and so yummy and light and fluffy. I highly recommend - it takes a little longer to make but it's worth the (not unreasonable) wait. My friend got one of their regular breakfast items off the menu and I enjoyed that too. We LOVED the Original Pancake House in Beverly!! The food was delicious - high quality and fresh ingredients. I was tempted to order the Apple or Dutch pancakes but was scared off by the calories listed on the menu hahaha. The omelets are oven baked and quite large. I ate half and took the rest home and shared my buttery pancakes with my husband. He ordered the Mexican skillet and really enjoyed it - a good kick from the jalapeños. We visited the diner around 130pm last Sunday. It was pretty busy at that time but we were seated right away. It was a comfortable atmosphere with tables and booths. We love coming here! They have a large dining area so the wait time isn't so bad. Service is fast and friendly. You pay at the counter. You cab pretty much put anything in a pancake. The first time I came I ordered silver dollars with bacon on the side but I guess they heard "inside" because I got a bacon infused bunch of silver pancakes. I was surprised how much I enjoyed. But I made sure to get them as is the next time around. The chicken apple sausage links are also good. My husband always enjoys his omelets. They reheat well surprisingly. If you're eating in the restaurant, be prepared for a wait (either short or long). But the food experience is worth it. I've been in Hyde Park for 35 plus years, and I've always been a fan of this restaurant. I ALWAYS get the exact same dish for me, but that's me and my tastes. I LOVE the egg white garden scrambler. Even as an egg white dish, it has enough heft and substance based on all of the vegetables added to the dish (and the pancakes I always order with it) that it's totally satisfying. Always. My daughter most recently had a bacon lover's meal with she and I sharing the bacon. The bacon is cooked a little harder than I'd typically do it at home, but it was still really good. The pancakes are the real reason to go here however. They are so excellent every time, and they can serve as a de facto dessert if you're going later in tehj morning or in the early afternoon. The staff is really quick (sometimes maybe too quick and brusque), but they are used to serving a lot of folks (especially on weekends). So they'll get you in and out of there (and reduce your waiting time) if they can or need to. A local institution at this point that deserves to stay around for as long as possible. read more

I remember when the original (pun not intended but it works lol) location was in a mall where Whole Foods now sits. Now they are on 47th and Lake Park. I have been here several times! The food is consistently hot, fresh and fast! The waitresses are always nice too! The bathrooms are always nice and clean! This time I got southwestern skillet. It can easily serve two people in imo! The original house of pancakes or the original as it is know in Chicago Is true southern cuisine ready for mass consumption. I got the steak skillet Which comes with a side of pancakes and a coffee it was perfect. My friends got a side of potatoes, the Belgian waffle and turkey links and they also enjoyed their meal. The original is normally a wait however in the pandemic it's pretty fast. Pricing is fare and worth every penny. Seating is spread out and mask and Vaccination cards are required for entry. I've never been here yet. I feel like I have been missing something for so long. Yes, it's a pancake house, but in Hude Park, it gives you all the look of yesteryear and its blues. The art is nothing but blues inspired, and the waitress definitely let us know some of the history. I just ordered oatmeal, and it was perfection. Of course, without the brown sugar as that would have made it too sweet for me. Still, the milk I pored on top made it the right taste and texture. My coworker went for the French toast. Now, mind you, I do frequent the other locarkon near Lagrqnge, but I did notice the prices here are way higher. Oatmeal foe $9 and change? No, that's not a good thing as in the other locario. We had breakfast here before adventuring the city and heading to the airport. The last time we were here was 14yrs ago, having breakfast with my Father in law and Grandma in law. They were not able to have breakfast with us physically but they were both with us today. The food tasted just as amazing as it did on our last visit. The potato pancakes were new for me and I loved it. The eggs florentine was exceptional and so flavorful with all of the diced bacon and spinach. So delicious. My BF had the bacon & eggs, he ordered a side of grits with toast with strawberry jelly. The bacon was so crispy and cooked to perfection, eggs just the way he liked them and the toast was crisp with light butter and delicious as well. Fast service and very busy location. They said it was supposed to be a 30 minute wait but it ended up being about 20mins. Not bad at all for the amount of patrons waiting to be seated and continuously coming through the door. Malessa showed us to our seating. She was very funny and lively. I don't recall the name of our server but she was good. Let me tell you now, get here early or be prepared to stand in line outside. We had about a 15 minute wait since line was down when we got there. The omelets here are huge. I recommend sharing or getting a portion to go for later. The pancakes were very tasty and nice sized. Free refills on soda and coffee. Lemonade one free refill. No flavor pancakes. Eggs were fine. Omelet w/veggies looked and tasted baked. Big puffy oval of egg w/veggies throughout. Not sold on the "original" in the name because w/an epic name like that this was an epic fail. I will not remember this meal. Our waitress was super attentive and quick.
