My husband and I have been searching for years to find a restaurant that makes homemade gravy for biscuits & gravy. This place showed some promise after reading reviews and seeing pictures. So once again I convinced my husband to try again. Well we were once again disappointed. This time the gravy was homemade but the cook (the person can not be a chef letting this go out the window) missed the mark big time. It was like putting wet flour in your mouth. Based on all the glowing reviews I really wanted to be blown away by this place...but it just didn't happen. I pulled up prior to them opening and eagerly awaited the light being switched on. Walking up it really does feel like you're entering someone's home instead of just another restaurant, which continues to the ambience inside. After being led to a table I promptly was served a steaming mug of coffee and settled in to decide. I opted for the veggie hash and decided to try the pancakes on the side. Normally I'm not a big pancake fan, mainly because if I eat them I'm starving in an hour, but knew I'd be safe with the hash making up for the difference. The hash arrived promptly and was a nice medley of various veggies covered by eggs. I can't say any part of the dish was particularly bad, but it was just average and uneventful. The pancakes were more of the same: just average for me. As I mentioned, I'm not the biggest pancake fan so that may not be a fair representation. Lastly, while it is a cozy place it isn't what I would call cozy prices. Granted, the portions were good but I found this a bit on the upper end of bills. read more

It's BYOB and there's a liquor store across the street where you can buy champagne to go with their orange juice. I had high hopes for this place, but sadly I was let down. We did a call ahead seating on a Sunday morning and thankfully only waited a few minutes past our call ahead time. The hostess and wait staff were all very attentive and pleasant. First issue was that we were placed in the very last booth in the very back of the restaurant. At first it was nice because it seemed slightly quieter but as we sat for a few minutes we realized how darn hot it was in that corner. I was sweating by the end of our meal. Second issue was my food. I got one of their Benedict's and sadly my hollandaise sauce was broken. Neither of my two eggs were very runny (which I love about Benedict's) and the potatoes needed a little crunch to them. read more

Oh my gosh, this place is absolutely adorable! It looks like a cute little house on the outside, but very roomy on the inside. With Denver having the best weather in the summer, we decided to have breakfast/brunch outside. The neighborhood was lovely. I watched the children's place next door set up for baby's story telling time. I love to try breakfast items that I don't normally make at home, so here I come, Chata de Pueblo Benedict! It's been a while since I've given such a low rating on yelp, but our food yesterday was terrible. My wife and I went for a picnic this past weekend and decided to order food from Cozy Cottage. After making our order we drove down to the restaurant to pick up. First off, when my wife got to the car, we realized that we were not given any cutlery, so she had to go back inside to get some, Not a bad thing in itself since it an happen when you are busy, but we soon realized we should have checked the food itself. We then drove off and to a park to have our picnic brunch When we finally sat down for our picnic, we realized that things were not up to par. My wife's decaf mocha had a layer of grinds floating on the top. It was undrinkable. Her chicken fried steak, which was supposed to come with gravy, did not have any at all. In addition, my pancakes and her pancakes also did not come with any syrup or butter. I had also requested whipped cream on the pancakes and that was also missing from the order. No gravy, syrup, butter, or whipped cream made for a very dry meal. The only reason that this is a two star rating instead of just one is that the few other things that we did get (e.g. eggs and potatoes) were very good. read more

I don't understand why this place is busy... We showed up for a little Sunday brunch, the menu looked decent and there was a line out the door which is usually a good sign. We each ordered an iced coffee and a signature Benedict, the Berkeley park and Mexican Benedict. Now the coffee... you know that smell your sweatshirt has after standing next to a campfire all night? The coffee tasted as if they used that same sweatshirt as the filter. As for the food, it wasn't bad I've just had water that was more flavorful and better seasoned. If you can't have salt in your diet for medical reasons and flavorful food gives you a tummy ache than this is a great place for you, but if you like happiness, save your money and eat anywhere else. read more

Such a wonderful breakfast outside on the patio. All of the food was wonderful. My hot tea was delicious and my girlfriend enjoyed her coffee. The service was exceptional. Came here for breakfast and was not disappointed. They have fast, friendly service and great outdoor seating. They are also pet friendly. Parking may be a bit difficult but well worth the extra walk. My 4 stars are typically above average and 5 would be better than average. I docked them a star because it liked like they experimented with my food. I came with my wife, mother and some friends and got the carnitas hash with pancakes. It was DELICIOUS. They also let you bring in your own champagne for mimosas with fresh squeezed orange juice which is a nice touch. One thing to note is that You can only put your name in person, so the wait was about 30 minutes on a nice Sunday afternoon. Cozy Cottage has so much potential. The exterior courtyard could be so idyllic but like much of the space, it's a mish mash of tacky items that just add up to clutter instead of a cozy charming space. The service and servers are all lovely, friendly and professional. The food is a miss as far as quality and taste, and the prices are completely illogical. A regular drip coffee is $4.49 but if you put it on ice, it's $4.89. A kids' order of French Toast (with 3 slices) is $6.99, but the same 3 slices ordered as a "side" of French Toast is $5.49. The french toast was so dry and tasteless it almost tasted stale and as if it hadn't been soaked in an egg mixture at all. The Cesar Chavez omelette was fine - not delicious but edible; however the potatoes and sourdough toast served alongside were bland, dry, and tasteless. I don't know of everyone at the space has given up because the space is up for sale, but if it were my business, I would want to go out with a bang. With construction about to commence on the 3 adjacent lots and food this mediocre, let's hope something gives to turn things around because it'd be a shame for such a wonderful staff to suffer alongside such lazily executed decor and food. read more

The name says it all... this place is as cozy as it gets! We ate on the adorable tree lined patio right next to a water feature. It was so quaint and comfortable. I ordered the Cozy Juevos. It was a huge plate of breakfast potatoes, spicy green chile sauce, black beans, and runny eggs. So delicious! The Americano was hot and strong and the service was friendly and quick. Stopped in for brunch last Saturday and had a pretty good experience. The atmosphere is, as the name suggests, cozy. It's an older building but they've updated the interior enough to where it feels nice and comfortable. They have a really nice dog friendly patio, which plenty of people were enjoying. Parking was surprisingly easy for it being a nice Saturday with tons of people were out and about, I found a spot right in front, there's loads of free street parking on Tennyson and the surrounding blocks. Service was prompt and very, very friendly, no visible effects from staff shortages here like you see with so many places nowadays. We arrived at 10:30 and there was no wait for an indoor table. Order a chai (delicious), pumpkin pancakes, and a side of potatoes. The pancakes were very good, I can't say they were the best seasonal pancakes I've had and they had a bit of a strange aftertaste but some whipped cream and syrup fixed that and they were really good with those on top. I'm super picky about my home fries and this place passes the test, they're perfectly cooked and seasoned. My friend had the veggie hash and it looked amazing. Overall really liked this place and will be coming back (with my dog!) on another nice weekend day. read more

This restaurant is located in Edgewater, very close to Lakeside. The establishment itself is an old home. It's cozy on the inside with plenty of seating. There is a simple yet humble bar on the right as you enter. The outdoor seating area is cozy as well. There is a nice courtyard as you approach the front of the establishment. This is my second visit here. The food is good and staff is friendly. I ordered the High Country Fried Steak with eggs, grits and pancakes. I ordered this last time as well. The meal was just as good as last time. I was impressed with the consistency! They featured apple chai pancakes. I like that I didn't need a lot of maple syrup to enjoy the pancakes. I will visit here more frequently. I highly recommend this place for a good breakfast or brunch establishment in the greater Denver area. I'll be back! read more
