    Cozy Pho

Tonight's dinner was at the new spot in Landing - Cozy Pho - and it was everything you'd hope for in a Vietnamese restaurant. We started with fresh spring rolls and a shrimp salad, then moved on to phenomenal Banh Mi sandwiches. The star of the night, though, was the hot and savory Pho - the broth was rich, flavorful, and absolutely out of this world. No more driving to East Hanover for Pho - Roxbury now has its own go-to spot! Whether you dine in or grab it to go, you won't be disappointed.

Disappointing. Small dining space subjected to LOUD music. Friendly service. Ordered vermicelli with pork, and was disappointed: warm vermicelli had absolutely sauce, and was dry. I added quite a bit of hoisin sauce. Pork was fine. Salad was under the vermicelli. Could have used a bigger bowl. Looked good, but wasn't. Forgettable.

Was happy to see a new Vietnamese place close to me as we normally have to drive 25 minutes to get decent Vietnamese food. The Cozy Pho has a very cute sit down area inside but the food left a bit more to be desired. If you aren't super familiar with authentic pho, it might be fine for you as it wasn't bad. The broth was definitely much lighter than I'm used to and was lacking flavor (anise). We also ordered the rare beef pho and for some reason they put the beef in the broth, not on the side. I have never had that before. The vermicelli bowl was fine but the grilled chicken didn't have that authentic lemongrass grilled chicken taste and there were hardly any pickled veg. We also ordered summer rolls with peanut sauce but it was not peanut sauce. It was straight up peanut butter. It was like finding a Reese's in a shrimp roll. Again they just opened so I will give them some time to adjust and improve. For now I will still need to make the 25 minute drive when I am in the mood for Vietnamese food.

The atmosphere fits the name of the restaurant. Wonderfully cozy on a winter day. The pho was delicious. The broth so flavorful. Service was excellent. Highly recommend!

You can't go wrong with a cozy place and friendly staff. Their foods are delicious and refreshing with their Vietnam specialties! I've ordered a bowl of vermicelli with spring rolls and grill pork. It was pretty good! This is going to be my go-to spot whenever I'm craving for a PHO!

Delicious, fresh, definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Tried all different dishes and all hit the mark. Nicest people!

Saigon Subs & Cafe honestly might be one of the best if not the best spot for a good banh mi. The…read moreflavors really hits. It's around $13 per banh mi which is a little higher than some places, but the quality and portion make it worth it 100%. I got the S1 and S8. The S1 was really good and something I would definitely order again. It's my husband's favorite. The S8 was the chicken and it came out warm with steam! A lot of other places make it but it's still cold. I also liked how fresh the ingredients taste. Service takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the order to come out just as a heads up. One Only small critique is the bread. While I like a crispy baguette, this one is a bit too crunchy and can cut the roof of your mouth a little. So don't gobble it down fast like I did. If they made it just slightly less aggressive it would be perfect. Overall I would definitely go back for more.

Parking can be a bit tricky given its location near a major road, but there is metered parking right out front. One thing I really appreciated was the thoughtful packaging. Instead of wrapping everything in paper/foil (which traps steam and softens the bread), they use takeaway containers that keep the banh mi bread crispy and intact. The portions are generous! I don't think I've ever had a bahn mi with so much protein! I personally asked for extra cilantro on some of the sandwiches which is why the cilantro looks so obnoxious in the pictures. Everything was solid and satisfying! The lemongrass chicken bahn mi stood out with its aromatic flavor. The Saigon special bahn mi though, could've used a bit more presence from the mayo and pate to enhance the flavors. Sounds weird, but surprisingly, the sardines in tomato sauce bahn mi was better than it sounds. It was savory and definitely worth trying if you're feeling adventurous. The summer rolls were fresh, clean, and a great complement to the sandwiches. My only note: I wish the pickled carrots and radish had a bit more tang. They leaned mild rather than punchy. Overall, a reliable spot with thoughtful touches and flavorful options. I'd come back again.
