24. Deep Fried Red Snapper.
Victoria S.

Interior reminds me old skool Chinatown restaurants. Very cozy but familiar looking. Venue has all the traditional Vietnamese fare one would expect (pho, banh mi, rice dishes, meat and seafood entrees and some vegetarian choices). I decided to get the grilled pork with vermicelli. The bowl was enormous and filled generously with perfected cooked rice noodles. It was topped with lettuce, bean sprouts, basil and mint. Several pieces of grille pork rested atop this dish. The pork was slightly sweet (carmelized taste) with a hint of smokiness and very tender. The fish sauce came on the side. My companion had the whole fried fish, which was also good.

Fried spring rolls only contain cabbage and carrots now

They seemed to have changed some of their recipes in the past 6 months, most notably the fried spring rolls. I ordered the vermicelli with grilled pork and fried spring rolls and was saddened by the two bland spring rolls that had barely any filling which turned out to be cabbage and carrots. So sad because their meat spring rolls used to be very tasty and authentic.

First time here at this food spot. Liked the interior. It was decorated for the season with lights and there were bamboo privacy barriers between each table setup. Food was good. We ordered Fresh shrimp summer rolls, Beef rolls, Crispy egg noodle chicken Ga, Avocado bubble shake and a mango bubble shake. Food was good but not the service. Went there for lunch but felt like they were a bit mis-managed, took a long time getting what we needed and looking for service.

Banh mi

3.5 stars. Was a bit disappointed with the banh which sadly had very little filling, and we had to ask for a side of cilantro to be added. On the other hand, we enjoyed the sweet and sour soup (with salmon), which was filling and good to share between two people. It has a tart but savory tamarind base with a slight peppery kick that was tasty and appetizing. Great for a chilly day! We noticed lots of takeout orders and it seems like this is a nice, local spot with plenty of regulars.

The furniture and decor reminded me of the restaurants in Chinatown. They had colorful Christmas lights, cute trinkets here and there, and bamboo screens between tables. The atmosphere was very lively from the minute I stepped in. The service was very quick. Pho was also very good. Nothing particularly special about this place-- just a good spot for a quick meal.

Popped by here to try it again, and the pho was better this time, albeit still made me thirsty. Veggie spring rolls - skip. The meat ones are so much better. Bubble tea was ok; sweet milk tea, but the bubbles didn't have much flavor. Vietnamese coffee - interesting serve and how it filtered through the bottom.

Very solid place for pho! Hearty broth, and great portion of noodles. They also bring out your food extremely fast, it felt like we had just placed our order and then they brought out our steaming bowls of noodles.

This was my first time having pho - and I did not like it. The flavors and the mushy rice noodles were not doing it for me. This very well could be great quality pho (and it seems like it is judging by the other reviews and the fact that there was a wait on a Saturday night), but I just think this wasn't for me. The owner is a great guy and checked in on us. Plenty of parking. BYOB.

Summary: A decently large menu of Vietnamese favorites. Good for groups. Decent portions that will fill your bellies for decent prices. I visited Saigon Pho with my mom one night. I ordered their Pho Tai. Unfortunately I can't remember what my mom ordered but it consisted of vermicelli and pork chops. She said the pork was very tasty. My Pho Tai was okay, broth flavor was on point but the beef was not the traditional raw round eye beef, my beef was visibly already cooked. Other than that, you can't really mess up Pho. Service was attentive and quick. Our food came pretty quickly.

Vegetarian Pho
Sne G.

I ordered a vegetarian pho for take out, you have the option to do beef broth or veggie broth. I chose the veggie broth and it was not special. It just lacked the depth of a traditional broth. However the portions are great; comes with a side of vegetables and noodles. I would give the Pho a 3.5. Yet to try other dishes on their menu !

Worse then a bad Chinese take-out out. Food was greasy and tasteless. Will not be back, not worth a second chance!

As the owner said to us, the grilled squid is so good with some beer and with good friends! I got the pho and it was perfect to end with. Broth was well seasoned and was just enough for me! We were seated right away, although the first table felt a bit cramped, and the staff had no problem moving us to a booth. One thing to note is that there appeared to be only two people working the front of the house for the entire restaurant, so they were understandably stretched thin. Our server took our order promptly, and the food arrived surprisingly quickly. However, service was inconsistent throughout the meal. We had to ask for water after being seated for quite a while without any being brought to the table, and the iced coffee I ordered never arrived. I'm not sure if it was missed or simply not heard when ordering. As for the food, it was enjoyable overall. The pho had good flavor, although the accompanying fixings were a little sparse compared to what I've seen elsewhere. My daughter ordered the spring rolls and pork chop over noodles, both of which she enjoyed. Overall, this is a solid spot if you're looking for a quick and tasty meal. Just be prepared for service that may be a bit hit-or-miss during busy times.

Fresh and Sumptuous Vietnamese Food in Downtown Millburn!…read more We came to Saigon Cafe in the downtown area for an early dinner on a Friday evening. They have a few tables outdoors and some seating inside. When we arrived around 6 PM, the place was just starting to get busy, but it was completely packed by the time we stepped out around 7 PM. The food here is fresh and really sumptuous. Honestly, they serve some of the best pho we have ever had. The bone broths used in the soup are incredibly flavorful and feel freshly made. Here is what we ordered: * Fresh Spring Rolls: We started with the shrimp spring rolls, which were decent. * Chicken Pho: My wife got this, and it was awesome. * Special Beef Pho: I ordered this one, and it was very flavorful and tasty. The meat quality was absolutely fantastic. * Grilled Meat Pao: My sister got this with chicken and fresh veggies, and she really enjoyed it. On top of the excellent food, their staff was very friendly throughout our meal. I highly recommend checking this spot out, just be sure to get there early on the weekend since it fills up fast!

It's around $13 per banh mi which is a little higher than some places, but the quality and portion make it worth it 100%. I got the S1 and S8. The S1 was really good and something I would definitely order again. It's my husband's favorite. The S8 was the chicken and it came out warm with steam! A lot of other places make it but it's still cold. I also liked how fresh the ingredients taste. Service takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the order to come out just as a heads up. One Only small critique is the bread. While I like a crispy baguette, this one is a bit too crunchy and can cut the roof of your mouth a little. So don't gobble it down fast like I did. If they made it just slightly less aggressive it would be perfect. Overall I would definitely go back for more.

Parking can be a bit tricky given its location near a major road, but there is metered parking right out front. One thing I really appreciated was the thoughtful packaging. Instead of wrapping everything in paper/foil (which traps steam and softens the bread), they use takeaway containers that keep the banh mi bread crispy and intact. The portions are generous! I don't think I've ever had a bahn mi with so much protein! I personally asked for extra cilantro on some of the sandwiches which is why the cilantro looks so obnoxious in the pictures. Everything was solid and satisfying! The lemongrass chicken bahn mi stood out with its aromatic flavor. The Saigon special bahn mi though, could've used a bit more presence from the mayo and pate to enhance the flavors. Sounds weird, but surprisingly, the sardines in tomato sauce bahn mi was better than it sounds. It was savory and definitely worth trying if you're feeling adventurous. The summer rolls were fresh, clean, and a great complement to the sandwiches. My only note: I wish the pickled carrots and radish had a bit more tang. They leaned mild rather than punchy. Overall, a reliable spot with thoughtful touches and flavorful options. I'd come back again.

Pho-king delicious…read more It was one of the coldest days of the year and we were craving a comforting bowl of pho (rice noodle soup) to warm ourselves up. We visited Vietnam Pho in Woodland Park, located on Rt 46. It's in a business complex so there's plenty of parking. It's a casual, cozy, and family-owned restaurant with a spacious seating area. The staff is welcoming and attentive. The menu offers all of the Vietnamese classics you're craving - steaming bowls of pho, vermicelli noodles topped with fresh vegetables, crispy banh mi sandwiches, stir-fries, and a variety of grilled meats like lemongrass pork and chicken. And if you're a boba lover, they even have bubble tea. Prices are reasonable, but here's a big tip: You get a 10% discount when you pay with cash. There's an ATM inside. There were a few hits and misses with our order, but overall we left feeling satisfied with our meal. The misses: *Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Condensed Milk ($5.95) - This was much sweeter and thicker than I expected! It tasted more like a dessert drink than an iced coffee. The condensed milk's sweetness overpowered the coffee flavor. I have a big sweet tooth, so I still enjoyed it. But if you're sensitive to sugar, you might want to skip this or ask for less milk. *Fresh Shrimp/Summer Rolls with poached shrimp, vermicelli, & peanut sauce ($7.95) - Not a fan. The rolls were bland and mostly just filled with vermicelli noodles. The peanut sauce was a let down. The flavors were off and it had a watery consistency. It barely tasted like peanuts. I don't know if they used too much vinegar or sugar, but either way... the ingredients were completely unbalanced. Now for the hits... We came for the STAR DISH: PHO! Every order comes with rice noodles, beef broth, white onions, scallions, and cilantro with a side of bean sprouts, lime, basil, and jalapeno peppers. We ordered: *Pork Chop Pho ($16.95) - I absolutely loved the lemongrass marinade (made with lemongrass, fish sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, & shallots)! The meat was juicy, sweet, and savory. I could tell the chef grilled it perfectly because of the smoky charred edges. *Rare Beef & Well Done Brisket Pho ($14.95 size small) - They did not skimp out on the protein here! The beef cuts were large, tender, and flavorful! The broth was the heart of the pho - aromatic, warm, and rich! The spices (cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, and coriander) made it taste even better. I always enjoy adding hot chili and hoisin sauce for that extra heat and sweetness. The noodles were silky smooth and soaked up all that beefy broth. Yum, yum! And you can't forget about loading up on the garnishes to add a satisfying crunch and more flavor in every slurp! Pho was the perfect comfort food on the coldest day of the year~
