This pho place has been our go-to for a while now. Authentic Viet food for reasonable prices! Portions are great too! We love visiting for our pho fix. My go-to order is the Pho Tai (#13) which has raw slices of beef, but cooks in the boiling savory broth after you mix it up. Also comes with bean sprouts, limes, and other greens to put into the soup for the complete pho experience! Also love their Thai Iced tea and Three colored ice off the drinks/dessert menu. Secluded gem! Pho Bing Duong is not necessarily hidden as it is in a strip mall but it is a gem. The food was surprisingly authentic, tasty and plenty. The Pho broth was flavorful and hearty, the portions were certainly enough to share. The Shrimp Banh Hoi was my favorite dish, lots of flavor with the garlic, scallions and crushed nuts. The fried spring rolls and summer rolls were equally delicious and filling. A weekend afternoon visit was easy, service was quick, and cash payment is king. Shrimp summer rolls are usually pretty good and our go-to app. The bo luc lac has been a hit or miss lately and the lemongrass is to be avoided (at least by me personally). the chicken used is rubbery and is not to my liking. Many of my Yelp friends, Sanny, Vivian, Sung, Jessica and Eloy have written reviews about Vietnamese restaurants and especially their Pho dishes. So on Tuesday at 3:00 pm, I decided to try Pho Binh Duong, not living far from this Parsippany location. It's located in a shopping plaza which includes HOME DEPOT and Staples among other stores. A large parking lot makes parking easy. Hospitality is on abundant display here from the moment you enter this casual/semi-formal restaurant. At 3:00 pm seating was not an issue. Apparently, not many people eat dinner that early. I ordered some Pho. You have a choice of either a small or large bowl. I went with the large bowl ($17.50). Odd that there is not a medium bowl option. I guess they know what they are doing. The Pho was piping hot, the combination of noodles was interesting, the meat to noodle ratio was exceptional and most importantly, the Pho was extremely flavorful. Excellent pho for this area! The broth is already super tasty without having to add anything to it, the portion of meat is hefty (again, compared to other places in Morris County) and the large bowl is MASSIVE. Nice ambiance with lots of tables and fast service, and there's a parking lot. The ONLY thing I would say about this place is that I wish they had a medium bowl option -- they only have small or large available. But the large is a great value, and delicious! I have eaten a lot of pho in my life and I've even been to Vietnam. So I feel very good to rate the pho here as excellent. The broth is flavorful and clean tasting. Not overly salty or sweet, with lovely herbal notes from a properly seasoned broth. I ordered the small portion, but it was still a large sized bowl in my opinion. The quantity of basil, mung beans, lime etc for the pho was perfect. I've been to many Vietnamese restaurants where I'm asking for more of these because they give you so little. We ordered the summer rolls as an appetizer. They were light, refreshing, as they should be. My husband ordered the banh mi sandwich. Tasty grilled pork with a decent amount of vegetables inside. Excellent flavor and balanced. No jalapeños inside though, which for us is preferred. But fyi if you're expecting it. We went midweek and there were a decent amount of people dining in and taking out for a Tuesday night. There were two older Vietnamese gentlemen waiting and bussing tables. One of them took our order and I was happy to hear he is from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh). But I could not see who was actually cooking in the kitchen. I do prefer people cooking who is actually from that background, but that being said the food was solid and delicious. The menu was way more extensive than most Vietnamese restaurants we've been to by far. Most places have about 1/5 the options. And since we ate so many wonderful things in Vietnam, we been looking for a place that actually has more variety. I think we've found it and hope to make a return visit to try more. read more

I definitely ate too much, and will get a small next time (which by the looks of it is a probably plenty!) Reserved a table a Noodle Lee. Thanks to Chinese New Year we were told it could take 1 hour before our food would arrive. We walked out and ate at PBD instead. There was a sign at the entrance asking patrons to be patient because they were under staffed. I don't think they were understaffed. It looked to me all the guys were yacking. It didn't help that one of the guys did not speak English. But it's ok. Our good arrived quite quickly. They were very tasty. Knock down one star because I asked for chicken fried rice, but beef was sent instead of chicken. It was corrected pretty quickly. The decor was not bad. It could use an update. This is our go to Asian restaurant. We have a picky toddler who only wants fried but he would also eat their spring rolls, grilled pork. He would also eat their pho noodle. I like their food especially their noodle soup. I drink every single drop of it. I know this doesn't sound good on a review, we ask for no peanut on the grilled pork vermicelli, somehow when this one guy who takes the order, there's always peanut there. But they were quick about replacing it with one that's without peanut. He's also the one who would play with my toddler and makes him happy. One time my wife mistakenly ordered the wrong pho for me because she gave the waitress the wrong number. She actually replaced my noodle with what I originally wanted and she said you guys are family and we want you to be happy when it was totally our fault. Fabulous pho! I ordered it vegan - a yummy vegetable broth, a toasty and lightly fried tofu, plus ample noodles and veggies. My lunch guest had the combination pho, with the aromas of beef and cinnamon wafting from the bowl. We both ordered the large bowls, which left me enough for dinner. Our waitress was quick and professional, and it was the owner/manager who served us. This is a large open restaurant. I discovered this place by accident as we were meeting with friends to eat at another restaurant in the same Plaza. We came back a couple of weeks later to try and we were glad we did. Pho Binh Duong is amazingly legit. Everything from the rice paper wrapped eggrolls to the extra crispy banh xeo, things were done perfectly. Even the pho was much better than other places around as the correct amount of herbal seasoning was used to bring out the amazing aroma that other places lack. I had this place in my "must visit" collection for some amount of time and wasn't sure why. After coming here, now I know: it's the only Vietnamese place I've ever been to with a full menu! Despite the name "pho" its menu is 90% other dishes. Chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, squid, even tofu, all on the menu in a variety of ways. Actually, pretty much the same choices for every protein. So despite the length of the menu, there are only a few appetizers, a few entree choices: noodle dish, rice dish, or regular dish. Pick your style and it comes out. I started the appetizer with the spring rolls, and while I thought I'd prefer the summer rolls, actually these are the best fried pork rolls I've ever had. They're full of meat, with a delightful dipping sauce and plenty of side lettuce and mint. I also had told them I wanted extra spice with my meal and they brought me a side of spicy sauce, something I took advantage of when dipping my rolls. I asked about the drinks and had the salty plum on the side. It was actually really tasty, not overly salty, not overly sweet, and took me perfectly through the rest of my food. On to the main course. My friend had crispy noodles, which soften a bit in the sauce but it's an interesting, unique take on noodles. She ate all the chicken but I got to eat the rest of the food, and it tasted like standard Chinese food but fresher in a less salty sauce, which I appreciate. My dish was not as spicy as I wanted, but adding the side sauce definitely helped. The squid was plentiful - a bit overcooked, so deduct half a star - and with plenty of veggies and just enough rice. Interesting flavor, definitely not something I've had before. On to dessert. I didn't have dessert because there were only two choices. But apparently the chef knew the Vietnamese guests next to us and gave them a special green tea crème brulée. I need to see if I can get on the in crowd enough to ask for some of that - that would be pretty amazing! It's also something I probably could have asked for as one of the last guests of the night - they close at 8 on weekdays, so the chef was finally relaxing. Got Uber Eats from here tonight. Overall it was a positive experience and I was satisfied with what I ordered. I got the House Combo Pho, Sauteed Chinese Spinach with Garlic Sauce, House Special Fried Rice, Spring Rolls and Lean Pork with Vermicelli. The pho was great and I especially liked that the beef was packed separately from the broth. It was still a little pink which is exactly what I want in my pho. The broth was flavorful and the noodles soft but not soggy. The fried rice and vermicelli were both good as well. The fried rice was not greasy and had great flavor. The grilled pork and spring rolls made a great combination with the vermicelli noodles. The sauteed Chinese spinach was probably the only negative. RESTAURANT REVIEW- Phở Bình Dương 744 Route 46 West (in Arlington Plaza) Parsippany, NJ 07054 Date of Visit: July 27, 2021 Tel: (973)-794-6710 & (973)-794-6711 www.phobinhduong.com My last experience with Vietnamese cuisine dates to the late 60s, early 70s, at a time when I was able to indulge in that Country's fine food thanks to a free, all-expense paid trip, graciously provided courtesy of the US government. Thank you to then President, "Tricky Dick" Nixon, for that thoughtful consideration. A visit to Phở Bình Dương, located right off Route 46 West, in Parsippany's Arlington Plaza Shopping Mall, formerly the site of Saigon Pho, seemed like just the place to reacquaint myself with this once exotic cuisine, an integral part of the diverse and complicated culture that is Vietnam. The major influences on Vietnamese cuisine initially developed from neighboring countries, particularly China, as far back as the Han Dynasty, and more recently France, who colonized Vietnam in the late 1800's and remained there until the 1950's. Through it all, scarred by invasions and other hardships, Vietnam prevailed and now lays claim to some of the tastiest, most aromatic, complex, and healthiest food in the world. Phở Bình Dương references Phở, a soup dish consisting of broth, rice noodles, herbs, and meat or chicken, and considered Vietnam's signature dish, and basically a street food; and Bình Dương, a relatively new, emerging, and modern city (Vietnam's Shiny New City) situated in the Southern part of the Country and once home to owner Quang Tran. What is not unusual, like many Countries, regional cuisine can be quite different between the North, Central, and Southern Provinces of Vietnam. The relatively newly owned Phở Bình Dương, which changed ownership in 2018, appears from the exterior, despite a welcoming façade, to be just another non-descript storefront business, hardly discernable from the various other similar storefronts lined up along the east side of a large shopping mall. On entry, after being genuinely welcomed at the check in desk by a very congenial hostess, I found myself immediately seated in a very well lighted, very clean, spacious, modern looking, nicely designed, upscale dining room. The ambiance was attractive throughout; warm, cozy, and comfortable, with multiple wooden tables thoughtfully arranged throughout the dining room, which can comfortably seat up to 130 diners. The decorative wooden beam ceiling, tasteful colorful décor, and stylish lighting features surely enhance your dining experience. By the way, Phở Bình Dương is BYOB, and the prices are very reasonable. I brought along some Bia Saigon beer which went perfectly with the feast that was to come. The service was top notch. Our waiter, Mike, was prompt, attentive, friendly, and helpful. It was clear to see that this restaurant puts an emphasis on customer satisfaction. After speaking with the owner, Quang Tran, I found that this is in fact his business philosophy. Mr. Tran, who I found to be an extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and pleasant man, was nice enough to join us at our table where he related that he came to America in 1979 as one of the "Vietnamese Boat People", which refers to those who during a humanitarian crisis fled Vietnam by boat and ship following the chaotic end of the Vietnam War in 1975. He learned to speak English (perfectly I might add) and became a classically trained Chef, eventually bringing his culinary knowledge and skills to Bloomfield, where he was a partner in the first Phở Bình Dương restaurant. When I complimented his cooking skills, a modest Mr. Tran, wanted to make sure that his Executive Chef, Vu Cao, was credited with his masterful culinary skills as well. Judging by the food they make an outstanding team. After looking over the wide-ranging menu, myself and my guests chose a selection of appetizers to share, including the Fried Spring Rolls (Chả giò), Crispy Fried Squid (Mực chiên đòn), Pan Fried Crispy Crepe (Bánh Xèo), and Roasted Quails (Chim Cút Rôti). One dish was better than the other! The Spring Rolls were perfectly fried; crispy, juicy, sweet, and savory. The moist and juicy Quail were perfectly roasted and served with caramelized onions (even tried eating some of the small bones as is customary). Fried Squid was excellent, nice mouth sized pieces of rich, buttery, battered, fried, and sautéed squid, served with a delicious dipping sauce of Thai sweet chili. Finally, the Pan-Fried Crepe, filled with shrimp, mung beans and bean sprouts, which everyone agreed was delicious. The yin and yang of Asian cuisine was evident throughout with the brilliant balancing of all the different tastes, colors, and textures that was obvious in all the various dishes.
