Winner winner CRAWFISH for dinner! This place has earned my vote for best crawfish I've ever had in Houston! Crawfish Ave has only been open a little over a year and hopefully they're here to stay. With a maximum capacity of 49 people it isn't very large but it's suitable. I came along with 14 other fellow Yelpers and they accommodated us seamlessly while continuing to serve other guests without delays. They have a great selection of multiple seafood options and combos. Although I was tempted to try a variety of options I was only there for one thing, THE CRAWFISH! I ordered the #5 which was 5lbs of crawfish (Louisiana style flavor of course spicy) 3 potatoes, 3 corns and 3 sausages. They do offer other flavors and spice levels as well. Once I finally got my order and tasted my first crawdad I was shocked!! WHOA, WHERE WAS I AGAIN?!? Flavor was superb, spice had an excellent kick but not torturing and they weren't overcooked or soft; HUGE PLUS! They were pretty large in size and very juicy. The potatoes were soft enough to break open if you were to squeeze them with two finger but didn't fall apart (probably could've been cooked slightly longer). I probably should've tried the corn much sooner than I did but when I did it was kinda tough to pull off the cob; of course the flavor was there so I didn't mind working a little harder to grub! I've been bragging about this place to every friend and family member in the Houston area. I know where I'm going to eat crawfish if I don't want to boil any myself and I'll be sending everyone I know there as well. We came here for an early dinner (5:30 pm) on Valentine's day. Opted for the 5lb crawfish combo with 3 corns, 3 potatoes, 2 sausage for $41.99 which is a better deal than buying per lb because it's currently $8.99 for crawfish (it's tiny right now too). I noticed the online menu shows everything as seasonal for price... Fries are $3.99 and so is that Udon noodles. We had to try the Udon noodles since it was recommended on Yelp. Not a bad idea to make sure you're full at the end, wish there were more sauce at the bottom. I could have done the meal without the fries because I barely ate the noodles because too much carbs. I tried this place for the first time and I was a little hesitant because it was empty in the middle of the day. I should've followed my first mind. I ordered crawfish and French fries. The crawfish was so horrible, I couldn't even eat them. First of all, the crawfish wasn't live. I'm sure they came right out of the FREEZER! They were extremely hard on the outside and tuff and dry on the inside. The flavor was just OK. I told the chubby white guy that worked the front area (Steven) about it (I think he lied about his name also). He got really defensive about my complaint and went out of his way to put on a glove so he can crack the crawfish himself smh when he tried it was a struggle for him as well. He then told me he understand my complaint because it's a struggle so I said I didn't want them and that's when things went left. He said his family ate them last night and didn't complain smh I said this is today not last night. He added a two dollar charge to my bill because he said I ate half of a pound. I ate 2 and the third one I cracked open so he could see how it looked. He then got loud and very disrespectful. I will NEVER dine here again. Steven is a jerk with bad customer service skills!! Super yummy, except the shrimp was over cooked because it was mushy and hard to peel. We like trying different crawfish places to compare and I think this place is worth a try; maybe stay away from ordering shrimp. Saw the reviews and thought to give it a try. The crawfish and shrimp were definitely not live. They were so dead and soggy you can tell they were not alive right before cook. If they seafood were cooked fresh. They will be very girl as you eat them. They were all over cooked, super small and salty so the whole chewing experience was not very good. I also tried the fried oyster and calamari, they were very salty and the tartar sauce wasn't even good to go with it. I should have known when they serve a Korean noodle in a Cajun restaurant. This is by far the worse flavored crawfish I've ever had in Houston. The shrimp fried rice was nothing like the pictures posted on Yelp. It's wasn't the best experience It was our first time at this place. We were rushed to order and then when got the food the best thing was the Crabs. Hence the name of the restaurant. Wow! What a great addition to the neighborhood! Saw on a friends snapchat, and boy am I glad I asked! Don't let the shopping center scare you away. It's very nice and very clean inside. The service was so great, between the young man taking our order to the chef everyone was so nice and never fell short! So I am going to try not to be emotional in my response and give them a one star review because truly they are normally better than this...but I am super annoyed. I have been here numerous times and their flavoring on their crab is one of the best. If it wasn't for today I would give them a 4 or 5. I ordered 2 pounds of snow crab and 2 pounds of crawfish. The flavoring was excellent as usual but I am certain I did not get 2 pounds of crab, fine whatever they had an off day and rushed and skipped measuring, then my crawfish was terrible, almost every single one of them was inedible. I would try to peel the tiny tiny crawfish and they wild just crumble. I eat crawfish often and am very familiar with how it should be. Both parts of my meal being problematic was hard to ignore. I spent $100 today and left hungry from lack of snow crab and inedible crawfish. I have always considered them kind of pricey but it was good so I was willing to pay. After today it will be a while until I am back. I was annoyed because when our server told the manager he did nothing. I paid $100 for bad food. I was not expecting a free meal but something. Take off $10 or here is a voucher for next time. Nope, he did nothing. I don't mind spending money, but I hate wasting money. Today I felt like I wasted it. I'm hoping this is just a one off and next time I go back I can get the quality I am use to. Truly their seasoning is above the rest. Oh I was also kind of annoyed that the last two times I have come they have not had the chicken tenders that is listed on the menu which is pretty much the only thing kids can/will eat on the menu, and they don't have cups with lids. Crawfish are served in plastic bags only one garlic sauce flavor but you can get it in mild, spicy or extra spicy. I tried a pound of each, couldn't tell much difference in the heat, got 5lbs to go. Crab Ave was a pretty good find. It's tucked away on the corner of kempwood and blalock. We ordered 2 lbs of crawfish (you can choose from mild, spicy, or very spicy,) we opted for the spicy with extra garlic, corn, and red potatoes. (Corn and potatoes are 60 cents a piece.) The potatoes didn't soak up the sauce very well, however, the corn did. The sauce and seasoning was a sweet-citrus taste, with a hint of spicy for the after taste. We did order put in an order for wings (sweet and spicy) and enjoyed it very much. Crawfish: 4 stars Wings:5 stars On the plus side, the owner-cook came out to greet us. I love that we have a new crawfish place in the neighborhood! The crawfish were​ served in a bag with metal trays. The garlic flavor was strong and tasty on these crawfish. The crawfish were all sizes ranging from small to jumbo, with the majority being a good size. The mild flavor still had a kick and the corn that I got was still to spicy for me, but I'm a wimp. The service here is amazing. I lucked up on this restaurant searching for crabs in the memorial city area. First off the manager is very nice and greets you upon walking in the door. The place is small with a few tv's but it is very cozy. They serve Mexican sodas which are favorites of mine. I love any soda that comes in a glass bottle. It just elevates the experience. But yes we ordered 2 lbs of shrimp and two clusters of crab in their garlic butter sauce. The sauce was great especially on the crabs. The only thing I didn't like about that shrimp was the amount of poop they had in them. It seems as they could go about cleaning them a different way. Other than that, everything else was splendid.
