For context, I'm a South Louisiana gal, who's lived in Los Angeles for 23 years. I've spent the entire summer here, and I cook...A LOT. The catfish is the best I've had in Asheville, so far. I've tried Good Hot Fish, some of the other oyster houses and the po-boys at Sunny Point, but Crab du Jour is my fave, when it comes to catfish. Everyone is cordial and accommodating here. The sweet potatoes could use a little soul food mama help, but otherwise, everything I've had here has been delicious, from the clams, mussels, shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes. Selfishly, I want the crawfish season to last longer, but I don't know the choreography of the rain dances to extend that season, so here we are with frozen IQFs. read more

(2/5 Stars) Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing from start to finish. The service was fair, but the food took a very long time to arrive. When it finally did, the seafood didn't seem particularly fresh, and the catfish was overcooked to the point of being burnt. To the restaurant's credit, they did offer a discount after the issue was brought to their attention, which I appreciated. However, the quality of the meal simply wasn't what I expected. One thing that also stood out was the feedback box near the cashier. It was so overloaded with comment cards that it honestly made me wonder whether the feedback is ever reviewed or acted upon. If customer comments are being collected, there should be a visible effort to address the concerns people are taking the time to write down. I hope this was just an off day, but between the long wait, poor food quality, and the impression that customer feedback may not be taken seriously, I don't see myself returning. read more

I read a review that said you might as well go to that place with the big red lobster on it, but I have one of those at home so I stuck with this choice. I like the variety and the soul food sides with your fish. The crab Rangoons with the chili sauce was yummy! I tried the Henny Island because I as curious if Henny could be a girl drink....it's a tomgirl It might bully you a bit, but still sweet. The service was quick. Harmony was nice and checked on us. You can tell they really want you to get comfortable and enjoy yourself because they put butcher paper on the table. Eat the goodies and leave the shells behind is the message I received. And right now they're playing some Christmas music with a little boogie to it, so I know the play list is jumping in a regular day. I let my wife pick our dinner spot last night, and she wanted to go back to Crab Du Jour, so it's obviously a favorite of hers. The restaurant was very clean, almost sparkly. This time our server was not only quick, but also knew the menu and made good recommendations. My wife had her usual Dungie crab and shrimp boil with sausage. It had a fair amount of kick, especially the sausage. Would love to be able to get some at the market. I tried their gumbo, then their seafood pasta. The gumbo was wonderful, even had pieces of okra in it (call me weird, but I LIKE okra), and was very savory and filling. The seafood pasta was also good, with clams, mussels and shrimp in marinara, but could have used a pinch more salt in the pasta water and maybe a minute less boiling time. Just go to Red Lobster. The server was fantastic. This was not her fault. My seafood boil was the WORST I've ever had. The corn was good. The egg was overcooked along with the crab. The shell was so soft and wouldn't crack, it bent. In fact, at one point my crab meat shot out onto the floor because it was so rubbery! Not to mention the snow crab was ridiculously small. Not worth over $30. The music was great. The vibe of the restaurant is chill, but the cooks need some training. read more

1 star out of 5. Absolute disaster and total rip-off. I ordered delivery: mussels, scallops, and lobster tail. The bill came to $117. I was expecting a decent seafood dinner. What I got was a nightmare. Everything arrived literally covered in sand. The mussels crunched with grit, the scallops were full of it, and the lobster tail looked like it had never been washed after being pulled from the ocean. Every single bite was a gamble -- am I eating seafood or just chewing on sand? For $117, I expected at least basic cleanliness, not a box full of beach sand served as food. This wasn't "fresh catch" -- it was straight-up disrespect to the customer. I do not recommend this place at all. Honestly, you're better off skipping seafood entirely than paying this kind of money just to spend the rest of the day picking sand out of your teeth. Crab de Jour -- never again. read more

Food is good. Now the Customer service is extremely poor. I don't understand why but there are staff just sitting around either on their phones or gossiping about their personal lives. The amount of professionalism at this restaurant is very low. It's more like a play ground for grown ass adults to come to work. Every time I come in here there are employees sitting around near me the bar and restroom area. Table service needs to be faster. Host was great, server "Bianca" was great, food was awesome Price appeared high, but the amount of food was worth it. Spinach dip was terrible. Will give it 3 stars due to tiny lobby for people to stand in while waiting. Saw a lot of people leave when they had a 30 minute wait outside the door. Was told they are short staffed and caused the long wait times and build up of customers at the door. Probably a much better restaurant when fully staffed. read more

From Ebony greeting us with a smile, to Lyric taking our order and bringing us tasty, hot food from the kitchen. We were happy from opening the door to walking back out. Clean, friendly and VERY REASONABLE $$$$$$$ You could not eat quality seafood like this - at this price anywhere- I usually enjoy Vinnie's & The Lobster Trap locally and travel to Charleston for fresh seafood. Boiled seafood WOW! We are from Cajun country; Lafayette, Louisiana. This is the closest to back home. We brought our neighbors, and they were impressed too. Lobster, shrimp, crab in Cajun seasoning- medium. Next time, I will get hot! Even the potatoes and corn were cooked perfectly. So we wanted a different appetizer. So We tried the shrimp fried rice. Tried Crab Du Jour today for the first time. My friend got a boil with shrimp, sausage that had some potato and corn on the cob. It was seasoned with butter and garlic, lemon pepper and Cajun seasoning. It looked amazing. I got some fried shrimp, it was big jumbo shrimp fried crispy with French fries. I also tried their crab cake which was also deliciodelicious. The boil my friend got was only about $13 and my shrimp was $11. Service was very good. Thank you Ms Lyric (sp?) for that. Hate to admit it, but I was completely surprised at how much I loved this place! Stupid me thought it would just be all fried seafood options, but I was wrong. It takes a bit of time to get thru all the options available on the menu because the menu is massive! Ordered clams (1 pound) with a garlic butter sauce and spice level of medium. This place is incredible! They give you a ton of food, it's all delicious, the atmosphere is very relaxed and the price is great! Service was friendly and fast! This place looks like a dockside bar inside, there's ample seating, they were playing Bob Marley the whole time, it was a very laid back experience. I got the Combo B with a half snow crab, half pound of shrimp and a half pound of crawfish. They brought out a bucket and gloves and a big plastic bib and massive steam bag of shellfish, everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The crab fries were also amazing! Make sure you ask about all the sauces on the oysters and pay attention how you want them because they came covered in a chunky sauce. Food is OK, all the sauces taste the same and it's SUPER salty. Service was great, ambience was pretty Micky Mouse for a chain. The biggest issue was the condiments at the table have not been wiped down, in what appears to be, since the day they opened. The salt and pepper, ketchup, napkin holder, hot sauce even the hand sanitizer, had a thick layer of sticky Crab Du Jour funk. I had to "wipe" (more like scrub) it all down with the hand sanitizer and napkins. Don't get me started on the Men's bathroom!! This place is absolutely delicious!! The interior is ok menus could use a wipe down and the paper lining in our table had butter splatter on it when we sat down but for the most part things were good. Its expensive but with what your getting crab, shrimp, mussels or clams it's expected. I love that you can pick spice like ol'bay, garlic butter etc. and spice level (mild, med or hot). I got the house sauce which is and combo of all sauces and very garlicy SO good. Hubby did ol'bay and we both did mild, he said it was great but wants to try the house version next time. He got the gumbo and we both got combos his scallops and shrimp and I got crab and clams all were excellent. Our server was very nice and explained the menu and answered all our questions. The Crab Du Jour was "crap" no pun intended. The food came incorrect from the kitchen. We were disappointed with the waitress's service, she literally sat down many times at the bar, watched tv and got on her phone during our time there. We ordered a piña colada that we never received and she never acknowledged why we never received it. One of the dishes had the wrong item and shortly after she left to get that fixed, we had to ask the hostess to help find her and let her know another order was missing sausages. She never came to check up on us and we ran out of water and when we finally got some water, she sat the jar of water down on the table, did not serve us, and had barely enough for the three of us.
