Omg- some of the most amazing food that's in a long time. The scallops were cooked to perfection. They had a special on oysters that were fresh and delicious. The lobster roll was filled lobster and the buttery roll did not disappoint. This place is definitely the highlight of our trip to Asheville.

The atmosphere is really nice. Staff is super nice. I love seafood and for the price I was expecting the best seafood I can get in Asheville. The only thing I liked was the mushrooms . The lobster bisque and the lobster Mac and cheese was a little bland to my liking. Honestly probably needed a little kick and more cheese.

The oysters steamed are AMAZING. These are the best I have ever had. The restaurant has great vibes, and service is on point.

They bring this as an appetizer for free. Outstanding.

Another terrific meal at the Lobster Trap. Had our usuals and added the steamed bowl this time. Outstanding quality!

Cozy, casual restaurant in downtown Asheville with killer seafood We went to The Lobster Trap for the first time, for our anniversary. I was expecting it the atmosphere to be a little fancier -- I would've been a-ok staying in my sweatshirt and jeans. (This is not a complaint.) We started with the steamed shrimp. It came with drawn butter and cocktail sauce and was really well seasoned and delicious. All it needed was an extra wet-wipe or two, because I made a mess tearing into the shrimp. For our entrees, I had the crab cakes and my husband had the lobster roll. The crab cakes were outstanding -- all crab, hardly any filler, really nice crisp outside. They came with a corn pudding and coleslaw, both of which were lackluster. The corn pudding was excessively sweet and the coleslaw lacked flavor and looked pretty anemic. The lobster roll was terrific. The lobster was lightly dressed and had a great flavor, and the bread was perfect. He subbed out the chips for grilled broccolini, which was tender and tasty. Next time I'll skip the sides, but overall we really enjoyed our meal. I'm glad we finally tried The Lobster Trap!

Seafood in the mountains!! We tried the lobster roll and the steam bowl with mussels and clams. The bowl was a large portion for the price/ definitely comfort food in a bowl. White wine butter broth, served with a fresh baguette. Love the ambiance. Bar seating- we were served by the best bartender! Proving us a little high for some dishes. However food is delicious!!

Excellent food: this is why we returned. This place never fails. Great music for a wonderful upbeat atmosphere. This service from Janie was superb. We had the lobster roll and the oysters Rockefeller. The last time we had the lobster and it was the best. The LAVENDER MULE was my favorite. Best drink of the trip.

Came here on a random Tuesday after finding it on yelp. I was by myself so I took a seat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and made me a sangria. Surprisingly it was $1 oyster night, so I started off with 6 oysters. They were good for being only $1! The restaurant was quite busy but everything came out quickly. I got the steamed mussels as my meal, the broth could have been more flavorful, but overall a good meal.

Perfect Birthday Dinner! We had an absolutely wonderful experience here for a birthday celebration. Everything--from the service to the food--was spot on. It felt special without being stuffy, and the staff made us feel truly welcome. We hope to return the next time we're in Asheville

Table for 2 for Dinner We had just wrapped up our tour and took a short stroll over to the restaurant. As we walked in, I let the host know we had a reservation. Within minutes, we were seated in a spacious booth--perfectly situated near the live band with a clear view of the open kitchen. Our server came by promptly to take our drink orders. I went with a Voodoo Ranger IPA, while wifey ordered a lemonade. We took a few moments to browse the menu before placing our entrée orders. I chose the crab cakes with a side of broccolini, and Wifey went with the lobster roll. Our server gave the option for a hot or chilled lobster preparation and she quickly chose the hot version--definitely the right call. While we waited, we soaked in the atmosphere. The live music was on point, the dining room was buzzing, and the open kitchen added a nice touch of energy. Our food came out soon after. My crab cakes were spot-on--crispy outside, flavorful inside--and Wifey really enjoyed her lobster roll. From start to finish, the experience was excellent. Great ambiance, quality service, live music--it all came together seamlessly. No doubt about it, we'll be coming back the next time we're in town.

We opted for three of the four fresh oyster options; the Frosties and Moon Shoal were best. Mild, sweet, a perfect size.

Man, what a great find! Fair pricing for high quality meals. We found it by searching for live music at livemusicasheville.com, hoping for good food and a show. We were not disappointed. After a pleasant greeting from the hostess, you walk into a logistically well-designed space, long and narrow (shaped like a lobster trap), with tasteful sea photos and a lovely vibe. The appetizer menu is extensive. For us, incredible oysters came first - displayed well on an ice tray with labels for each variety, shucked expertly (not a single piece of shell; all feet cleanly dislodged; brine intact). We've been out of the South for a minute, so we nearly wept with appreciation when crackers were served along with. The one-man band was sweet, talented. His volume was perfect, and he really added to the experience. The only stumble was really our fault; we tried to get one of the cocktails made wine-spritzer style, and failed. Stick to the cocktail menu and you'll be fine. Or the wine list, which is well-planned for the restaurant's offerings. We had the Double with lobster and crab and found both perfectly -- PERFECTLY -- cooked. A luscious blend of sweet and salty; nice and warm, juicy, tender. Ditto the corn and potato accompaniments. Service was excellent: our server was prompt, friendly, even genuinely connected to us and our experience. A treat on every level.

The catfish is the best I've had in Asheville, so far. I've tried Good Hot Fish, some of the other oyster houses and the po-boys at Sunny Point, but Crab du Jour is my fave, when it comes to catfish. Everyone is cordial and accommodating here. The sweet potatoes could use a little soul food mama help, but otherwise, everything I've had here has been delicious, from the clams, mussels, shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes. When it finally did, the seafood didn't seem particularly fresh, and the catfish was overcooked to the point of being burnt. To the restaurant's credit, they did offer a discount after the issue was brought to their attention, which I appreciated. However, the quality of the meal simply wasn't what I expected. One thing that also stood out was the feedback box near the cashier. It was so overloaded with comment cards that it honestly made me wonder whether the feedback is ever reviewed or acted upon. If customer comments are being collected, there should be a visible effort to address the concerns people are taking the time to write down. I hope this was just an off day, but between the long wait, poor food quality, and the impression that customer feedback may not be taken seriously, I don't see myself returning.

The restaurant's decor is eccentric - lots of taxidermied wildlife, cookbooks, and (from our vantage point in the loft) giant jars of Duke's mayonnaise - and the food is worth going back for. I had the steak frites, my husband tried the pork chop Milanese, and we shared the marmalade tart. My filet was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the accompanying sauce was silky smooth and addictive. The fries were salty, crispy perfection. My husband gave his pork chop high marks as well. I tried a bit of the sweet pea salad served with it, and I was suddenly 4 years old, following my mom through the garden and eating more peas than I dropped into my little basket. Fresh, pure summer. The marmalade tart was a great way to end the meal. Perfect balance of bitter and sweet. One caveat: This may not be the place if you're looking for an evening of quiet conversation. The room's acoustics bounced every sound off of every wall, and the resulting cacophony made it hard to hear each other or our very kind and efficient server at times.

I've been to The Admiral several times before, so I'm making this review an updated version of just how good a place can still hold its reputation. For a restaurant so damn good, there is nothing fancy about it. It's set up like a small town diner; and that's what makes it so much comfortable. The service is spot on and their menu has so many wonderful choices at not "break the bank" prices. Us six diners ordered: * Caesar salad - for a southern restaurant making a Caesar this good, it was enchanting! It had Croutons, Parmesan and Anchovy * Ribeye Steak - see above accolade! I found Chestnut on Yelp and decided to wander in. The space has this elevated modern rustic vibe with a southern twist and a little bit of sass. They even sell shirts that say neither hoity nor toity, which cracked me up. Honestly, the atmosphere was great, but our waitress was the real star. She was absolutely phenomenal and looked after us perfectly. My palate was pretty fried, so I started with a Bloody Mary to wake up. Truth be told, it was just okay. The house mix had an odd flavor that nobody at the table could quite identify, and it seriously lacked spice. It was just kinda bland. I noticed a bottle of Firewalker hot sauce on the table, and splashing that in helped a little bit. After that, I transitioned to a mimosa. You really cannot mess up a mimosa too much, and it was a solid, reliable second drink. For the main event, I ordered the southern chicken and waffles. This came with a fried chicken breast sitting on golden malted waffles, smothered in sausage gravy, and drizzled with chipotle honey. It was a really great dish. The kitchen did a solid job with the fry on the chicken, and the gravy had a nice flavor. It leaned a little on the sweet side because of the honey, but it was not totally overdone. The real sleeper hit of the morning, though, was the side of cheesy grits. Those grits were absolute heaven. They were incredibly creamy and perfectly seasoned. If you go, you have to order them. Chestnut is in a great location, and despite the weak Bloody Mary, it was a stellar visit.

Also tried some of the pork chop (very tender & great sauce) and mushroom risotto (herby and great flavors on the mushrooms).

A "Bat Signal" was sent to me about another Ladies who Luncheon aka Dames who Dine, Sunday…read moreafternoon brunch/lunch. The only and main requirement is that it definitely had Gluten Free (GF) options. I personally have other health issues, but Gluten, lactose or vegan isn't on my radar. So, I myself had to ask for suggestions. The name Juanchos Fonda was highly recommended and designated GF Colombian restaurant. I had heard for several years that this little "hole in the wall/strip mall restaurant" was a hidden gem. Looking at the menu on Google/Facebook just didn't appeal to me UNTIL now. Juanchos Fonda is located at 2619 Sweeten Creek Road #10, Asheville. Several of the party made comments to the effect do you know how many times I have driven by and never knew that there was a restaurant inside or I have seen the sign, but never considered trying it. I arrived quite early to introduce myself, and confirmed that a large group was coming. Jayson introduced himself and a little birdie had already spoken with him the night before. He and his staff were preparing our tables so Ellie and I took a quick stroll down the walkway to visit Retro Coffee Shop and owner Carrie. Retro Coffee has a variety of options for coffees, teas and desserts/pastries The pastries are by @Jaz Bakes. Carrie continues to help those that might need a little something to tide them over, her very small food pantry is available. Carrie always welcomes any contributions for the pantry. I love their Chai Tea and The Mafia coffee named by the Asheville Food Mafia as our favorite flavor of five other options. We returned to Juanchos and the table was in the final finishing touches. Within minutes the entire 16 were making conversation, welcoming hugs and meeting new friends. The owner Jayson introduced himself, his restaurant's concept, the menu, his special of the day, and large party gratuity. Our server, Cesar, was taking cocktail orders and Jayson informed the table of the special in-house Sangria. Several people enjoyed the pitcher of Sangria (hopefully someone can add that photo). The restaurant has a full bar for a wide variety of cocktails. Several people order different cocktails; Bloody Mary, Mojito, Mango Madness and a few others that I didn't hear those names. I was having a difficult time trying to decide what I wanted to try (everything Jayson mentioned) but after hearing his description of the menu I decided upon Picada Manera it's like what I would consider a Pu Pu Platter. The dish included; whole Red Snapper, octopus, lobster tail, shrimp, fried mahi, yuca, tostones, sweet plantain, fries, chimichurri, tartara, and guacamole. Growing up my dad ALWAYS had baked halibut steaks. I absolutely hated that because of trying to get the flesh without swallowing a fish bone. Well some few years later, ahum, what do I order a platter with a Red Snapper with bones. The first bite was the most delicious, decadent, well seasoned fish that I have ever tasted. Who cares if I have to eat tiny bites! The flesh comes away from the bones and I couldn't stop, but there was so much more to try. The octopus could have been cut with a spoon no knife needed. It melted like butter when being eaten. I have had some rubbery octopus and squid in my lifetime, but definitely NOTHING this tender EVER. I shared a few SMALL morsels with the others, because I knew I couldn't eat the entire meal by myself. The lobster tail and shrimp was equally as tender and you could actually taste the meat, not just the marinade/seasoning. I did try a bite of everything else when it was still fresh and hot. The remaining will be consumed tomorrow for lunch.

The food is *excellent*, the starters are great, the cocktails are delicious, we haven't had one dud on any menu item. The only complaint is the location, and *maybe* some of the servers don't have so much English, but in a place like this, that's charm and it's never been a problem. The host is helpful and energetic, the interior is charming and interesting. If this was in Asheville, or Biltmore Square, it would be going gangbusters. Just a great place, cannot recommend this one enough.

We had the pup in tow so we were forced to sit outside on the patio where it was quite chilly. However, they offered us outdoor space heaters which kept us perfectly warm. Our server was super friendly and gave us great recommendations. I started with a cup of hot coffee but was quickly convinced to follow it up with a glass of red wine. I had to order the bolognese after recommendation from the server and it was fantastic. The pasta was al dente and the red sauce was tasty. I also tried the seasonal soup - the butternut squash, which was hearty and perfect on such a cold day. The egg salad sandwich was STACKED and topped with smoked salmon. Everything we tried was delicious - I'm sad to see they were impacted by Helene but hope to see them reopen soon!!
