Crabapples is a small quaint little place that has that traditional New England charm. From the decor to the staff it is quintessential in every way. My wife and daughter came here for lunch and were greeted warmly by the staff. We were seated and even before we sat the front server was nice enough to give my daughter an apple juice before we sat. I ordered the fried scallop sandwich and my wife had the cape cod Ruben. My sandwich was very tasty with the scallops fried lightly and the bun was toasted with butter. Really reminded me of a hot lobster roll. Adding the tartar sauce kicked it up a notch but I would of loved a tomato as well so it would be more a kin to a po'boy. My wife's cape cod Ruben was delicious as well the thousand island dressing with the fish was a interesting combination along with the rye bread. Why does your tarter sauce have cinnamon?!?! It was a very bad flavor, maybe I didn't appreciate it, but cinnamon in tarter is not good. We got the crabapple burger which my wife enjoyed, she said it's something similar to Sam's club burger, but bigger. Cod Reuben which was an unusual combination which sort of worked, but it was still dominated by the Reuben flavor and fish had a minor aftertaste, it only contributed to the texture. Lobster roll was quite plain and fresh. I'd say it was average. Fried clam strips on hot dog bun were also average, very dry. We always stop into Crabapple's for breakfast before we leave the Cape. They have a variety of delicious breakfast offerings served by a friendly staff. Regardless of how busy they are, and they are busy during prime breakfast hours, the staff is always friendly and engaging. It is a small place but not small in quality of their food nor their service. I enjoyed their Salmon Eggs Benedict when I was there last week. How have I not discovered this place before???? My first visit was Mother's Day during Covid 19 so needless to say options were limited in Falmouth. I was in the mood for a good lobster roll and saw Crabapple's had a great rating on yelp. Pulled right into the parking lot and placed an order for my husband and I to try their version of a lobster roll. Also threw in a crab cake appetizer. Ding ding ding we have a winner. First to get a $20 lobster roll on the Cape is a rarity but to get one loaded with big chunks of fresh lobster was Fabulous! Complimented with delicious fries, cole slaw and a dill pickle it was amazing and satisfied my craving perfectly! The crab cake also had a unique addition of corn in the mixture. At first glance I turned my nose up but after the second bite I was smiling and devouring the rest in 30 seconds!! Since I frequent Falmouth often I will certainly be coming back! My husband & I recently had lunch here. We weren't expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised. I had the garden salad with steak tips. The salad was huge and very fresh. Steak tips were delicious. My husband enjoyed the Asian salad -- also huge and fresh. We both had the toasted sesame dressing which was just meh. For dessert we splurged on a piece of warm blueberry pie (recommended by the waitress) with vanilla ice cream. The pie was amazing -- lots of lemon to counteract the sweetness and interesting spices. It took a while for our food to appear, but the place was FULL so it wasn't surprising. Service was very friendly. The staff is on a first-name basis with the regulars. Prices were very reasonable. I ordered chicken soup which was a tiny cup of a good broth, a bit light in salt, with chunks of chicken and broad noodles. I asked if they would pan fry them, which as a chef I know isnt difficult to do.but was told no. I ordered special chicken salad cooked panini style. What i got was buttered toast with a mound of perfectly cooked chicken topped with brownish oxygenated apples and walnuts. It was tasty, albeit dry and had a smattering of cranberries-hardly a chicken salad but still good. Mom had a chicken salad wrap which she enjoyed. Both came with a bag of Cape Cod Chips. Breakfast menu looked great but only served until 11:30 I had banana cream pie for dessert because evidently, I'm not chunky enough... and it was good although the whipped cream seemed to not be fresh and cane from a can. All my great aunts & uncles think this place is one of the best restaurants in Falmouth. So there's a lot of old people-grumpy, sleepy, and sneezy. The 7 dwarfs would love this place. The atmosphere is definitely more mature and senior-specific. Kids will get restless and bored so there goes a star.... The tarter sauce is some of the best in The Cape, which puts it in the running for some of the best tarter sauce in the world. My Egyptian Uncle Montu (by marriage with my great Aunt Sylvia) proudly proclaims "Where Else can you get breakfast omelets & the best lobster rolls in New England? Crabapple's that's where!!!!!! " There's a lot of places I tell Uncle Montu, but there is a theme of senior citizens enthusiastic about Crabapple's. The food is a A+. The two odd things about this place are the windows and the pill exchanging. First, there's giant windows along the building (a mid-century sea ranch style). Beautiful lighting, but the landscape directly outside is meh. Second, a lot of the old people take their pills while they eat. Since they have a lot of different prescription pills, people like my Aunt Sylvia & Uncle Montu like to swap pills with their friends and peers. They'll offer you pills in the bathroom. And this is one reason why it's not a great place to bring the little ones of the family. Of course, I'm going back. The food rocks and Uncle Montu pays for everything. I have a lot of fun memories in Falmouth and this place was the setting for a lot of them. It's understandable though if people have a 2 star experience. I can fully appreciate the fact that loud baby boomers with cinnamon tarter sauce all over their faces are uncool. Usually go in early June when it's hot. It cannot be, we as a yelper is unfair to us for having this kind of restaurants giving a very good review rating and it doesn't exceed the expectation. Most of the reviews saying about bad service this people never changed. They don't care. So we come in with my family and 2 girls just look at us for about 30 sec., and give as a face and entertain 4 old folks before us. They knows we come in 1st 5minutes before and those young girl never say anything, it look like we are not welcome here! I wasn't that hungry , my husband , my sister, brother in law and the kids was hungry so we order CALAMARI , CRAB CAKE, SCALLOPS and fried CLAMS, cheese sandwich and STEAKS, the food was not as what most of the review!!! We ate breakfast here early on a Sunday morning. It was just about empty when we arrived at about 8:00. By 8:30, it was very busy. The waitperson came by quickly. I ordered two eggs over medium and an English muffin with a cup of tea. The eggs were undercooked and my tea was not hot. My husband had a breakfast burrito which he enjoyed. The potatoes that came with it though were nicely seasoned without being overly greasy. I had a bite of my dining companion's Crabcakes Benedict and immediately regretted not ordering that instead. The fish sandwich was outstanding: obviously fresh, substantial, and not overbreaded. The chicken salad sandwich defied humdrum with liberal use of tart apples, and the minestrone soup was tasty, too. My sole complaint was that they charged for refills on ICED TEA. While the indoor dining looks seriously dated, they have expanded to pleasant outdoor dining on the front&back patios. For breakfast, they make great pancakes. There are regulars. The lobster goat cheese omelette is luxurious and delicious. They brag about how cheap their scallop roll is, when it's the taste that matters. The scallops are juicy&crispy, complete with tartar sauce&fresh lemons. One of their seasonal favorites is a watermelon gazpacho, refreshing on a humid Cape Cod day. While many restaurants have shortened their menus due to COVID, Crabapple's has expanded theirs. They've added a takeout window. An "affordable Cape Cod dining tradition" that's worth continuing! This place is awesome, and somewhat of a tradition for me and my Dad when I'm visiting for birthdays, father's day, etc. (he lives in Falmouth). The space is adorable, clean, with a very nice restrained nautical theme. The service is always great and friendly and the food had never disappointed (especially the indulgent lobster Benedict when they have that as a special.) I've only had brunch there, but the lunch and dinner menus look just as good. This is the only restaurant we went to twice on our trip to the Cape. We had lunch the day we arrived and enjoyed two very tasty and fresh salads plus fish chowder. The chowder had TONS of fish. This is our family's 3rd vacation to the Cape, and each summer we've been meaning to try this place but never get around to it. Finally had dinner here, and I already know we will definitely dine here again when we return next summer. Even though the restaurant was busy, we were seated pretty quickly. Our server was fast and attentive. My husband had the Cape Cod Reuben, which I was lucky enough to try a bite of. Fried haddock on a Reuben sounds iffy, but it was incredible! I had the Fisherman's Platter, which had fried haddock, clam strips, shrimp, and scallops. There were generous portions of each, and it came with slaw and French fries. It was all very tasty, and I loved the tartar sauce. Not sure what the other reviews are talking about when they mention cinnamon in it. I didn't detect cinnamon.
