The food was amazing! We were a bit underdressed, actually a lot underdressed but I'm glad we stayed! We could even see the dunes from where we were seated!

Where do I begin... first and foremost the staff including the manager are amazing!! We had a ribeye that I did get a photo of and it was AMAZING! I had the crab and the calamari appetizer both were perfect. I had the special with lobster cooked to perfection. Bread is sooo good. Chicken fettuccine was also good. You can tell they do a lot of homemade recipes. Also the kids said the ranch was excellent

Oh my goodness, what a wonderful restaurant & meal. We had made reservations for four & were seated next to their wall of windows offering a fantastic view. Clean white table cloths lent a classy, elegant feel to the restaurant. Service was quick & friendly. Our waitress was polite & patient as she answered our questions about the menu. After studying the menu we choose appetizers, soups & entrees. I went with the Baked Halibut in Casserole. A delicious mix of halibut, Dungeness crab & bay shrimp, covered in a Mornay & Hollandaise sauce. That sauce had a silky coat-your-mouth consistency that I found to be delicious. A vibrantly colorful helping of vegetable medley & creamy garlic mashed potatoes accompanied the meal. But, make no mistake, the seafood casserole was the star here. The Mrs choose the Combo Seafood Sauté. Scallops, shrimp, halibut & Bay shrimp in a cream & Parmesan cheese Alfredo sauce, served over buttery pasta. Again, just absolutely decedent. Another in our party of four had their Surf & Turf. A New York steak, with deep fried shrimp. She choose the Swiss fried potatoes as her side & were they good. After sharing a bite with everyone, she had to defend her meal as she ate. A moist, gooey six layer chocolate cake was shared for dessert. When we come back this way, we'll definitely stop in again.

Still love the Hilltop House, visited several times since my first review. I finally took pictures of the food and more of the property so wanted to share. We were last there on my husband's birthday on Saturday, January 13. My husband had the surf and turf - NY with fried butterflied shrimp; our son had the seafood lasagna; I had a special- the 5/5/5. This is five small filet pieces, five shrimp and five crab claws. My husband said the NYs are always flavorful and he loves the shrimp. We didn't take any food photos in January but I've included some from an earlier visit. My go to is usually the crab salad, which I have included a picture of as well as some other items and exterior shots. Living in Gardiner, this restaurant is a pretty easy drive and we always look forward to our next visit. Service great, reservations recommended, view great.

Just had the BEST dinner back in the lounge for my birthday! Yum! Shared the crab and artichoke dip as well as one of their specials. Cocktails were delightful and the meal was sooooo good! We live within walking distance and this will be our new "go to" spot!

The food and service were fantastic when we dined in. We enjoyed the view also. Appetizers were stuffed mushrooms and crab cocktail and both were amazing. The dinner salad was full of veggies and delicious. Then came the entrees which were all halibut. It was served with a fluffy moist focaccia bread with oil and vinegar (ask for butter if you prefer). As far as I'm concerned, this is the BEST seafood in the area. It is fine dining so expect a hefty price tag but worth the splurge. (I will add that it's not as good as when ordered to go).

We did not expect to find a French place anywhere in the vicinity, but we did. We had such a great time at Restaurant O, we went back a second night. We made reservations for Friday at 5. When we showed up, we were greeted by Patricia and instantly fell in love with the look and feel of the place as well as Patricia's hospitality and attentiveness. The menu blew us away-- it had all the things: Foie Gras, Oysters, Escargot, Tartare... the list goes on. We're used to enjoying this type of menu in Portland, but finding it in tiny Coos Bay was a real treat. The wine list was fabulous. Everything we had was prepared with great care and presentation. We were treated like royalty. Thanks for making our 10th special, Patricia and Restaurant O! I highly recommend this lovely dining experience.

We had reservations and the hostess took us to an upstairs dining area with a beautiful view of the bay. We brought our own wine and Bill was great and opened both bottles. The room was nicely decorated with various pieces of art along the walls and on the tables. The appetizers of pork belly buns, truffle fries, and Thai spiced steak tare tare were wonderful. Chef O also sent us a complimentary appetizer as the food took a little longer. It was very nice of him to do so. Bill told us they were down one chef and had the party of 30. I had the dungeness crab and prawn linguine, our friend had the special of the day with steak and prawns, and my hubby had the ribeye. Everything was tasty. Definitely go back again.

Let's talk about the food first.  My friend and I ordered 5 of the small plates appetizers to start.  The first was a caprese bruschetta, which was good.  The basil was fresh (but wilted, more on that in a bit), the cherry tomatoes were fresh and sweet, and the mozzarella was creamy.  Second up was a halibut canapé.  I did not partake, but my friend said it was good.  Third was bacon wrapped scallops.  Again, I did not partake, but she said it was okay.  Third was flank steak with gorgonzola cream sauce.  The steak was tender, but I am not a fan of gorgonzola, so I wouldn't order it again.  Finally was a smoked salmon canapé.  It was the highlight of the meal.  The smoke combined with the salt of the fish and sweet of the fromage blanc was amazing.  I would (and will) order 10 of these for a meal. Onto the main courses.  I ordered the alfredo and she ordered the ribeye.  The steak was cooked rare, as ordered.  She said "It tastes like meat.  It isn't over seasoned."  The garlic mashed was ordinary.  My alfredo was average.  Butter and cream and parmesean.  Hard to screw up.  It lacked salt and pepper, but still okay. So what was wrong with the meal?  The service.  I arrived after my friend and she told me after the meal that she waited 15 minutes on her drink.  When there was only one other guest.  I arrived and we ordered the appetizers for her to put in and then waited another 10 minutes for her to take the order for our main course.  Our appetizers arrived and they had obviously been under the heat lamp for too long.  The basil for the caprese canapé was wilted and browning in spots and the plates were rocket hot.  No biggie.  Then, before we could eat the appetizers, the main course showed up.  At the end of the meal, we tried to wave her down her down for 15 minutes to get the check and a box and when she did, she gave us the "ugh".  During the whole meal, she did not ask once if we wanted another drink.  Obviously, this was a disappointing experience.

One night we ate at the bar because the hostess was so far from friendly it wasn't funny. Second try, we tried to get a reservation before we left and the hostess again was not kind or helpful or seemed like she even knew what she was doing. When we came to meet friends for dinner hoping to do a walk in (the check in said we shouldn't have issues after telling her how we couldn't get a reservation), same hostess. My husband was LIVID. We ended up taking four bar stools, getting a cocktail and leaving to have dinner at McKees. I'm sorry but everything is good here besides the hostess. My birthday dinner was good at the bar the first night but my husband had a chat with the manager outside because he was that mad about how we were treated. His excuse was that finding staff wasn't easy. Well, you're running a premier restaurant at a golf resort and it needs to be better. Will we be back? Yes. I hope that girl is replaced or demoted. She's a bad look for the restaurant and Bandon golf resorts in general.
