    Bread for the table. Amazing.

Came here on a Thursday night kinda last minute, so I didn't make a reservation. We walked in at around 8pm. We sat down and ordered drinks. I had a Patron Margarita on the rocks with salt. Very nice! We also had the Angry Mule and a Coke. We ordered the black bean burger, mini burgers with fries, and had to try the vodka chicken parmigiana. The drink was great and our server was nice. He was a little busy, but managed to take good care of us. The chicken was so good. I got three pieces of perfectly fried chicken cutlets with a creamy vodka sauce. It was served with mozzarella on top. It was served with spaghetti in the same vodka sauce. I have to say, I was happy at the amount of sauce they used. Nothing was swimming in sauce. The mini burgers are always a hit for the picky eater. The black bean burger was reportedly great and fresh. The price was right and the place is clean. The tables, table clothes, silverware, glasses, plates, and napkins were all very clean. We always enjoy coming here. Plus the steak that were served to tables around us, had an amazing scent, and served on a hot plate. So good. Check this place out, you will not be disappointed.

Solid local tavern that's great for a quick lunch or casual dinner. The food is about a 7/10, good, reliable, and hits the spot when you're looking for something easy. Service is decent and the atmosphere is relaxed, making it a nice place to sit down by yourself and enjoy a meal without feeling rushed. Nothing overly fancy, but a dependable spot when you're in the mood for a laid-back dining experience.

I came in on a Monday night specifically because of the $9.95 burger and sandwich special. I dined with my wife and daughter, and we both ordered from the burger and sandwich section. I ordered the Tavern Burger with cheddar cheese and bacon added, and my wife ordered a steak sandwich. The burger itself was disappointing. The bun began to fall apart halfway through eating it, almost completely disintegrating. I asked for the burger to be cooked medium, and while it wasn't raw, it was noticeably under medium. I still ate it, but overall it wasn't enjoyable. The menu states the burger is 10 ounces, but what I received looked much closer to 6 ounces, which added to the disappointment--even at the discounted price. The staff was fine and reasonably attentive, especially considering it was a Monday night near the end of their shift. The atmosphere was what you'd expect from a dimly lit, casual American bar-style restaurant, but that alone didn't make up for the food quality. I also want to note that the Monday deal applies to both burgers and sandwiches, but only the burger was discounted on our receipt. I didn't dispute it at the time cause I just didn't even want to bother but it was still frustrating. Overall, this experience left me pretty disappointed, and I don't see myself returning. The only reason I might consider coming back would be for the Thursday 42-ounce steak special, but otherwise this will likely be my last visit.

We had dinner at Galo. As always the service was tops, dinner: delicious and the ambiance ... it is a nice restaurant. I'm loving the Prix-Fixe Menu, loved the lamb chops. Once again

A text with a coupon gave a reason to splurge a little. Date night and Girls night back to back! If bread and butter is your weakness you're in trouble lol! Glazed salmon, short ribs, grilled Branzino, pasta torano, farm salad, grilled basil chicken sandwich! All delicious! There's a bar and weekday happy hour.

3.75 I saw this local spot come up several times while looking for restaurant/dinner recommendations in the Floral Park area, so my wife and I decided to check it out. Parking is pretty easy, as it's surrounded by residential homes on both the north and south sides of the restaurant. When we walked in, we weren't sure if we were supposed to go right to the bar area or left, as we didn't see the hostess for a few minutes. When she finally arrived, she seated us at the smallest table, even though the dining room was mostly empty on a Wednesday evening at 7 PM. The dining room was dark but definitely had some character. After you order, fresh bread is served. I wasn't expecting that, but it was a welcomed and tasty surprise. The fried calamari had a nice breading with the right amount of seasoning and came with marinara sauce and chipotle mayo. We also ordered the Bone-in Cowboy Steak with rice and mashed potatoes, as well as a Filet Mignon with fries and broccoli. This is where the size of the table became an issue. With the Cowboy Steak and the sides served on individual plates, table space became limited. We asked for both steaks to be prepared medium-rare. The cook on my Cowboy was spot on; unfortunately, my wife's Filet was more on the rare side (though it was an easy fix since the Cowboy came on a grill plate). Although both steaks came with sauces (a port wine reduction for the Filet and chimichurri for the Cowboy), they did lack seasoning. The sides were decent but also needed a bit more flavor. Overall, it was not a bad dining experience. Our server was kind and tried to provide a good overall experience, but in my opinion, the food could use more flavor.

The food at Galo Tavern is fine. The menu features a lot of good offerings. I had the baby back ribs with sweet potato bries. The flavor of the ribs were on point and the sweet potato fries had a bit of a crunch to them. The service on the other had , although friendly, was slow. Our waitress was pleasant, however, in the later stages took long to get dessert menus, coffee, and to get the bill. This of course would be understandable if the restaurant was packed with patrons. This was not the case, it was empty. The decor features expose beams and a slightly upscale atmosphere. We were very comfortable where we sat, which helped to us content.

7/27/24 Walked in around 6pm and was seated quickly. Bread (pillowy buttery goodness) and water were served. Ordered the fried calamari (added chili peppers) well done, and it was very good. For mains, we had the lamb chops and skirt steak. While the skirt was tasty (heavy on the pepper), the lamb chops were delicious. Side of port wine reduction pairs well also. Food 4 stars. Portions on the smaller side, especially for the price. Recommend the lamb chops. Happy hour and daily specials too. Service 3 stars. Nice but not 100% attentive, Ambience 4 stars. Dark steakhouse vibe.

We went to this restaurant on the right night! Went here for my dad's birthday and I was definitely craving steak. Lucky for me, we went on a Thursday where they have steak night, in which select steaks are 50% off. My brother and I ended up splitting the 42oz porterhouse between us which would have been $120 but instead was $60 because of the discount. Totally worth it! The complimentary bread they give is also delicious. Only thing is the appetizers could have had larger potions.

Recently just came here for my niece's communion. I was surprised that it was really packed and the food was pretty good. I'm not sure why they have low rating reviews. Staff and waitresses were really polite, friendly and helpful. The ambiance was a nice American decor. I had split the tavern burger which was cooked perfectly and had a good taste. The bread was a bit much though. My family got different dishes like the Portuguese steak and the flat bread which they enjoyed. Also, I had the old fashioned which was a bit sweet but strong. Old fashioned was made well. Good job guys keep it going even on slow days!

It immediately gave me that cozy, old school neighborhood Italian restaurant feel, almost like the set of Cheers. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and packed with people. I ordered the Short Rib Pappardelle and the Grilled Lamb Chops, and both were a 10/10. The pasta was rich and flavorful, and the lamb chops were cooked perfectly. Even my brother, who's a very picky eater, thoroughly enjoyed his meal. The food smelled so incredible on the drive home that I was honestly tempted to pull over and eat it in the car. For takeout, you exit the main entrance and walk around the corner to the back of the building, where they have a separate area serving pizza and other quick bites. When I arrived around 5:30 p.m., the restaurant was bustling, and the takeout counter was lined with orders waiting to be picked up. They also offer outdoor dining. While I was waiting, I noticed the portions being served to diners at the bar, and they definitely don't skimp. The servings are generous, which makes the value even better. It's easy to see why this place is such a neighborhood favorite. Great food, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely be making the drive from Brooklyn again.

You'd think with a smaller menu, the food would come out quicker, but we had the exact opposite experience. We got our apps 20 minutes after ordering, and then we got our mains 1 hour after that. Then we got our deserts 30 minutes after that. For our 1:15pm reservation, we didn't end up leaving until 4pm. They were pretty busy, but there were a few empty tables by the time we sat down. I was also expecting service to be quicker since the menu was leaner. Also, one of the staffs kept coughing in his hands before handing the food to the guests - so that was pretty off putting. Only reason why I'm giving the restaurant any stars is because of the food. The plates came out hot and everything was delicious and they were very generous with the amount of food. Maybe I just have to stick with ordering takeout from them.

It's a place that you definitely need to plan ahead just to place an order. But if you have the time and patience to wait, go for it! We walked in around 1:20pm and were quoted an hour long wait. It actually took around an hour & a half to get the food. They don't always pick up the phone or allow online ordering, so if you're in the area, walking in is probably the best bet. The lunch specials are sooo worth it. We got one of each, 1/2 chicken + 1/4 ribs, sides: rice, cucumber salad, mac & cheese, and corn. The amount of food they give you is insane. How is that 1/4 of ribs?! Both the chicken and ribs were tender, juicy, and just fell apart. The green sauce of course is perfection. It's zesty, spicy, and herby- the perfect pairing to the savory meats. Plan ahead if you want to eat here!

I've known about Chicken Lovers in Bayside for the longest time and have had it bookmarked forever,…read morebut I'm rarely in the area. Today I finally made the effort to go try it for myself. We ordered one whole chicken with three sides (rice, corn, and macaroni & cheese) and a half rack of ribs with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The total came out to $50.08, which I thought was pretty reasonable for the amount of food we got. Of course, I had to try everything immediately in the car because grilled food is always best fresh and hot. Overall, I thought both the chicken and ribs were good, but I actually preferred the ribs. They are definitely on the sweeter side, but incredibly soft, tender, and literally falling off the bone. The chicken was juicy, but I personally think both the chicken and ribs could have benefited from a bit more marinade or just a little more umami flavor. The standout for me was absolutely the green sauce. It honestly elevated the meal from an 8/10 to a 10/10. It's very cilantro-forward, which I personally loved, but if you're not a cilantro person, this sauce may not be for you. As for the sides, the steamed broccoli and corn were pretty standard. The rice had a stronger bay leaf flavor than I prefer. Surprisingly, the mashed potatoes were delicious and came with gravy, which was a nice bonus. I also enjoyed the macaroni and cheese, and highly recommend trying it with the green sauce because that combo was unexpectedly so good. Overall, I'd definitely come back again. It may not have been perfect, but the food was solid, portions were good, and that green sauce alone is worth the trip.

The menu has very detailed, almost elevated descriptions that make everything sound spectacular, but in practice the flavors don't quite come through, especially the sauces, which are barely noticeable. Our server was flexible when we asked to swap the potato chips for fries on the kids' grilled cheese meal, which we appreciated. However, we were then charged $1.40 for a side of ranch for the fries. I understand they have a range of specialty sauces and dips that are clearly priced on the menu, but that still felt steep for ranch. They also offer a combo option to add fries for $5, but the portion doesn't really feel aligned with the price. The steak sandwich itself was surprisingly tender, even though it looked like it might be tough. That said, I couldn't taste the roasted red pepper sauce, and the "sweet onion jam" turned out to just be caramelized onions. My mother actually ended up picking them out because she doesn't eat onions. (she won't eat onions that she can see) The buffalo cauliflower was tasty, but could have been crispier. The "serves two" description also felt a bit generous given the small portion. I also ordered a brisket sandwich to go with fries. The coleslaw sounded great on the menu, but in reality the flavors didn't stand out, no real hint of jalapeño, just a fairly standard slaw. Overall, the food descriptions felt more impressive than the actual execution, though the to-go fries portion was more generous, which was a nice surprise. Would I go back? I'm not sure. Maybe for a casual visit with a few beers and fries with an assortment of dipping sauces...I am a sucker for those.
