Food- 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Every time I come here I leave happy and satisfied! The food is delicious and the drinks are too! The service is A+ and the specials are my go to's! We started with a delicious heavy bread. It's pictured and appears to be homemade. They also come around with a tray of a bread assortment to choose from while you wait for your dishes. I was very hungry so no apps straight to the mains. I usually try the chicken parm which I did. Fried cutlet patty and standard tomato sauce. Also comes with vegetable and side of pasta. I also had the duck with a cherry sauce that came with rice and vegetables. I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes. Everything ordered was delicious! The servers were exceptional helpful and knowledgeable! 2 thumbs up and would def return!! Thanks for a great pre-city excursion meal. It's also conveniently located literally right at the Mineola LIRR train station!

Food was excellent, drinks were excellent, service was attentive and courteous, ambiance was delightful. Room was a very comfortable temperature. Sound was perfect you could hear the conversation at your own table, the room was packed yet the sound level didn't reflect that. A very pleasurable experience. Parking lot is small street parking available on side streets.

Came back two years later and still find it to be an awesome place to dine with friends. The tables they offer have a lot of comfort. The service is impeccable and it's easy to communicate with each other since there is no blasting music. There are menus given to you at the table and also boards filled with specials and offerings.

We went back yesterday for early dinner. We were seated near the fireplace. The room is inviting and cozy. The food was excellent. We enjoyed everything and will definitely go again.

Came here with friends for a birthday celebration dinner. Nice and spacious with ample parking in the restaurant parking lot in the back. Love the decor inside and very spacious. Staff and service were good. Menu options plentiful along with specials of the day (written on the white board which they will bring closer to the table or read to you). They have a wine menu and specialty cocktails too. Complimentary bread and bruschetta to start with while you wait for your food. Appetizers: We ordered the crispy calamari and grilled octopus to share. Both were good. Entrees included: Ahi tuna au poivre, bacon wrapped shrimp (was ok), prime rib (was ok), chicken francaise, pork osso. Make sure to save room for dessert... or better yet, check the dessert out before you eat your entrees. Plenty of options with some homemade desserts as well - napoleon and chocolate mousse. Cappucino for some, tea for others. If you eat here frequently or plan to, sign up for their rewards program. Just for signing up you get 200 points ($10 discount to use). Can use it or save it up for a bigger dinner party. Will be back again for dinner again soon when in the area.

I go here each Christmas Eve. Beautiful atmosphere and nice staff. I must say I was a bit disappointed in the service this year. Our waiter was not as attentive as in the past.

The Davenport Press is one of those very old restaurants where you know everyone, and everyone knows your name. it's been a Mineola staple for a very long time. The Davenport Building was originally built in 1896 as the Nassau County Trust. In 1924 it became the Davenport Press and remained a printing press until 1978 when its' present owners converted it to a restaurant. I am glad they did. Lots of memorable decorates this shop and the wall hangings are fun look at and to read. They have a great room with a good size bar and plenty of tables. This is a popular spot to come and hang with friends after work. The restaurant has plenty of space with their main room and multiple private rooms. We hold our monthly Kiwanis meeting here in the downstairs private room. This room could easily handle 50 people and we usually have around 25. The servers here are delightful and know many people as there are so many regulars here. For our private event we usually have 3-4 dishes including Chicken Francaise, Broiled Salmon, and London broil. We start with some salad and work our way through dinner with some coffee or tea and desert. Our servers are always delightful and has been taking care of our group since we started coming here. They team here is always very attentive to your needs. The food has always been fresh, hot, tasty and plentiful. They have a small parking lot and additional parking behind the building. Since the building of the LIRR third track you must enter from old country Road. You can no longer come down (South) Mineola Blvd and just go over he tracks.

We decide to come to this restaurant for a birthday celebration. Parking: The parking lot is behind the restaurant (don't park in the Verizon parking lot which is before the restaurant and near the railroad tracks) and there is street parking. Restaurant Decor: There are a lot of eye-catching items like the moose hanging on the wall. Though you have to have sharp eyes to spot the upside down table hanging in the ceiling or hanging airplane or any other numerous items in the dining room. Food: The servers brings a complimentary plate of brushetta and a plate of olive bread for sharing then you have a choice of breadstick (it's extremely hard) or a roll for your bread plate. Everything was pretty good - no complaints. The servers kept our water glass filled. We ordered: Appetitzers - Grilled octopus - Fried Calamari Entree: - Pork Osso Busco with mushroom risotto - the meat was moist and fell off the bone - Ahi Tuna - Bacon Wrapped Shrimp - Grilled T-bone Steak - Chicken Francaise Dessert: - Napolean (Homemade in Restaurant) - my favorite out of all the Desserts. This dessert looks plain on the tray until the cream is added to give it some dimension. - Chocolate Mousse - Napolean The other desserts made in-house which we didn't order are: Tiramisu Coconut Original NY Style Cheesecake There are 2 stalls in the women's bathroom and it is clean. You should try this restaurant if you haven't been here.

I had to change plans quickly as I looked at the specials they had going on that day wow! We decided to go with the duck and the monkfish main course entrees instead. Life is about making the right choices and this was the best decision I made that day lol! The duck was cooked to perfection soft on the inside crispy on the outside wow! I really like how juicy and fatty the duck was very succulent and delicious yummy. I especially liked the wine sauce on top among taste sweet with a slight tart to it juts the right balance I was impressed. Definitely one of the best duck dishes I've ever had it's a special so I'm not sure if it will be available when you decide to go call ahead would be my suggestion and your best bet. Laslty the side with butter squash was also a delight to eat and treat! Second course was the monkfish which was great as well. It had a slightly Smokey flavor to my pallet and a slight crunch on the outside maybe it was torched or seared not sure. Whatever the case it was a great touch to the dish very tasty and juicy as well. I love the sauce and the sides were great mashed potatoes with broccoli yummy! I highly recommend this place for brunch, lunch, or dinner take your pick. They will not disappoint you at all that's for sure. I'm not sure how this place is in the evening as I've only gone during the day. I hope the chef gets to read this and know his work is appreciated and noticed! The staff and waiters are very accommodating and knowledgeable about the entrees and food in general. Great service and energy I will come again and repeat whenever possible. I liken the music they play in the background it's not too loud and always sets a great tone for the place. The windows bring in great light and the decor is tasteful and elegant gives a bistro vibe to me personally. You might think differently let us know anyway. Run don't walk to visit this fine establishment whenever you're in the mood for Italian or seafood or a plain old good burger enjoy.

The parking situation was not too bad on early evening during the weekday, but I could totally see it get out of hand on the weekends, so plan accordingly. We were sat right away and the lovely server dropped a basket of bread while we peered through the menu. The free bread is quite good. We were all starving, so the cheesy chewy bread was great to munch on. I am also much more forgiving about a bit of wait for food if there is free bread being offered. It was also nice because we were seated right by the kitchen window, so it was like getting a dinner and a show. We got the Saporite, which reminded me of a Costco chicken bake with its creamy innards punctuated by grilled chicken. This is my brothers favorite, and I could see why. We also had the spaghetti seafood, which was so richly flavored with the seafood. I'm not sure I ever had Italian pasta so full of that umami seafood flavor. Truly wow. The ravioli verde was something we got to add something not-tomato based & it was an excellent choice. The sauce was verdant and creamy. The ravioli filling didn't feel like straight ricotta but I liked whatever they had done to it! The chicken parm was also a solid choice, good breading on hefty cutlets of chicken and a nice helping of charred cheese on top. We liked every single dish, and the portions were more than enough to feed all of us and leave leftover for the next day. I was especially touched by the professionalism of the young servers during what was becoming an increasingly crowded dinner service. We got extra bread, waters filled, and to go boxes promptly. The hype was surprisingly real. I guess I should not be surprised that a place that's been around since my childhood has withstood the test of time because it was good. Will revisit soon for lunch service.

For starters, two kind of salads came out. The first one was a Caesar and the second one I had spring leaves feta cheese avocado and addressing already on it. I prefer the second one. They both were good however. The table was also presented with a serving of Calamari Fritté. I did not taste it. I don't know what they put on that rolls, but they came out warm with like a sweet glaze on the top. I'm assuming some kind of maple butter. I had three of those. Don't tell anyone Also as an appetizer was Tomato Bruschetto with pistachio pesto. I also have way too much of that. It was delicious and fresh. One main ain course was Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo. I don't eat shrimp so I can't tell you how that was. The other was Rigatoni alla Vodka which was very rich and good. Sauce tasted homemade and not out of the bottle like some places. I also grabbed another piece of bread with that. But again we won't talk about that. We have two proteins. One was Chicken Francese. It was very tender. A light crisp on the outside in a nice flavorful sauce. The other protein was Grilled Salmon in a butter herb sauce. I only had a few bites of salmon. I rarely eat salmon out because I don't know how it's sourced. The flavor was fine however. For dessert, they had fruit and a couple of cakes. One cake served was Gigi's Butter Cake. I think they put some crack in it because it is addictive. Very rich, buttery and served warm! I ate one there and took one home. Shhhhhhhh The other cake was New York style cheesecake. I can't tell you how that tasted because I also took that slice home. I have more cake than I can eat at the moment. If you want some let me know

I thought I was losing my mind until I checked my text messages and saw they sent a confirmation text asking me to press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel. I pressed 1 and somehow the system canceled my reservation. I honestly think it's crazy for a restaurant to automatically cancel a reservation because someone doesn't respond to a text right away. I was sleeping and didn't even see it until about an hour and a half later. Huge turn off. I called and thankfully they added me back, but it definitely started the experience off wrong. Once we arrived, we checked in and sat at the bar while waiting for our table. The bartender took about 25 minutes just to acknowledge me and take my drink order, which was disappointing. When we finally got seated, I realized they were only offering a prix-fixe family-style menu for Mother's Day. I understand limited menus on holidays, but I think each guest should still have the option to choose their own entrée because not everyone likes the same foods. I asked if we could add an extra appetizer, and our waitress who was very nice checked with the manager and they accommodated us. The issue was they didn't bring the extra appetizer out until after the entrées came. At that point it made no sense, and when I asked if they could remove it from the bill, they wouldn't accommodate that. Now for the food: Chicken Parmesan: slightly burnt and lacked flavor Beef medallions: needed salt and seasoning Lasagna: way too much ricotta cheese Shrimp scampi: honestly tasted like a 3-year-old made it -- just noodles and barely seasoned shrimp with almost no butter sauce Not everything was bad though: The bread was amazing Calamari was decent Meatballs were really good Cheesecake was amazing Sangria was very good and definitely gave me a little buzz The table service outside of the bar was actually great, and the portion sizes were generous. Ambiance was ok, bar just looked messy. They probably should have more than one bartender at a busy restaurant like this. Especially on Mother's Day. Overall, I probably wouldn't return unless I specifically wanted the meatballs and sangria.

We began our dining experience munching on a scrumptious basket of garlic bread. I've found, over my many years of dining, that restaurants that serve a great bread basket always follow it up with great food, and this was Mauro. After reviewing a litany of appetizer items, we chose absolutely delicious artichokes oreganata. We followed the appetizer with an order of luscious eggplant parmigiana along with perfectly cooked al dente rigatoni. We also ordered gnocchi with a sublime pomodoro sauce. The sauce was not something typically seen, in as much it contained a nice quantity of onions. For dessert we had a debate between chocolate cake or a cannoli, keeping in mind that the restaurant is owned by a great bakery. Our waitress, Samantha (Sam) who was outstanding throughout, said it's a tossup. We finally agreed on the chocolate cake. When the dessert arrived, to our delight, there was an order of light and very tasty chocolate cake, and a creamy & crispy freshly filled cannoli, compliments of Samantha. In summary, we had an excellent meal coupled with outstanding service what more can you ask for in a restaurant? If possible, I recommend weekday dining.
