I wanted to stop by at a Cracker Barrel because it feels like a quintessential road-trip thing to do and also for the Americacore theme. I know it's not exactly known for having good food and I was ok with that. And it met my expectations. Decor was exactly what I was looking for, and it has a fun gift shop area. I actually did enjoy my chicken & dumplings, but the corn was not good even for out-of-the-can standards. One person in our party had to send his fried chicken back because it was so dry like leftovers. But 3/4 of us enjoyed our meals for what it was. I think the prices are actually really good for the portion sizes, the quality not so much.

Good was very yummy, I had the strawberry stuffed cheesecake pancakes, they were very sweet but good. Our waiter was kinda gruff and smelled like cigarettes.

This location is off the main strip when driving through Branson. I like the spread out parking lot and winding driveway that allows you to escape slightly from the main strip traffic. Seating was easy, and ordering was fairly simple. I ordered the Biscuit Benny, a breakfast item served all day with hash and apples, just how its portrayed on the menu picture. Its an older crowd that that's Branson for you. The Benny had a nice flavor, based on the green onions and tomato relish. Hash and apples were great additions to the Benny entrée. I was pleasantly surprised by the fabulous taste and service at this Cracker Barrel restaurant.

I always like Cracker Barrel, it doesn't matter which one you go to you always have the same ambiance. The service was great we had very little wait time to be seated and the food is on par with a typical meal at this chain.

The Service was good. The kitchen was very slow, we waited a long time, but the food turned out well.

I left with a profound sense of spiritual displacement and an empty stomach. The service was prompt, but the atmosphere took a turn for the supernatural shortly after we were seated. While the staff was professional, they failed to warn us about the sentient portrait photo of Paula Deen hanging in the dining area. Midway through our first course, the portrait's eyes began to track our movements with a predatory glint. Without warning, the 2D Paula detached herself from the canvas, stepped into the three-dimensional realm, and began a localized reign of terror. The Incident Log: The Biscuits: My "Ooo-ee" Butter-Drenched Biscuits were the first casualties. She vacuumed them up with a sound like a shop-vac in a flour factory. The Decor: In a display of indiscriminate hunger, the portrait then turned her attention to the centerpiece. She didn't just smell the decorative flowers; she ate the silk hydrangeas and the ceramic vase they were housed in. The Collateral Damage: My companion's fried chicken was snatched mid-air. Even the sugar packets weren't safe. It is difficult to critique the seasoning of the meatloaf when the restaurant's namesake--or at least a high-pigment manifestation of her--is busy unhinging her jaw to consume the table's napkins. I reached out to our server to ask if this was a scheduled performance or a breach of the space-time continuum. They simply offered us more sweet tea, which the portrait promptly intercepted and drank through the glass. Verdict: If you are looking for a quiet family meal, look elsewhere. However, if you want to watch a piece of wall art achieve apex predator status by eating everything in a 10-foot radius, this is the premier destination in Branson. I am still hungry, but I am mostly just impressed by the portrait's digestive fortitude.

Oh man they were packed today!! But no surprise! They have THE BEST BURGERS! seriously…read more Highly recommend the Porch Burger and the asada fries. We got so excited we ate them before I took pictures.

Excellent food, deceptive billing practices…read more I love the food here and have never had a bad meal, but their pricing model has become incredibly frustrating. Pickin' Porch forces a mandatory 10% "staff tip" on all orders. Because you stand in line and pay at a counter before you are even tended to, they are essentially demanding a tip before providing any service. Sometimes you stand in line for longer than it takes to receive the food you're paying a 10% premium on. If a business needs to cover higher staff costs, they should just raise menu prices. Forcing a surprise surcharge at the register is a cheap tactic. Furthermore, didn't ask, but suspect one is likely required to pay this fee even if you're just getting food to-go. For a restaurant located inside a craft mall, playing these corporate "gotcha" fee games feels completely out of place in this wonderful spiritual community Branson has always been. Branson is a city built on genuine kindness... However, Pickin Porch Grill's compulsory 10% tipping fee billing practice is the exact opposite of the nature of Branson. Come for the food, but be prepared for a frustrating mandatory fee at the register.
