Our breakfast experience surely needs improvement. Placing our order was smooth, receiving our order is where the headache began. Yes, we had a larger group but I don't think they should have caused so many mistakes. Many of our meals came out on multiple plates and not together. Some of us got our main dish with the first run of our food while others got their side dishes. One of our group got the wrong meal all together while another persons meal never came, when the waiter delivered the "rest of the food" and asked if we needed anything else, it was like um yes, another meal is still missing..... I have been super critical of Cracker Barrel, in general, recently as their service over the past several (maybe 10) has been going downhill fast! This is the second time I've stopped at the CB in Cape over the past week and a half while traveling between Memphis and StL. and this is the second time I've received what I consider classic CB service! :-) The hostess (Janet) was super friendly and my waitress (Samantha) was prompt and even more friendly than the hostess! My coffee was brought promptly and not empty for long (critical morning thing for me!) and my food came out in a reasonable time and was cooked perfectly. Ordered chicken tenders and they were old, stringy, and hard. My hash brown casserole was cold and all of my biscuits. Told them to remake it and they did chicken was warm and hash browns were STILL COLD! Never got a refill on my water after waitress walked by numerous times. She never checked on us. I had to ask hostess to get my waitress and has to ask another tables waiter to refill my water. Absolutely terrible! read more

The service was very slow and gave me time to look up and notice how dusty everything was: lights, speakers, etc. We waited a very long time before our server came to the table. I've been to many Cracker Barrel locations over the years and can usually depend on them being well run and the food being consistent. This place in Cape Girardeau ruined that experience for me. The waitress for all her niceness was terrible and I had to ask another waitress to fill my coffee. She was completely outbid her element. I ordered the catfish breakfast and the only 2 items that were actually hit were the grist and catfish. The eggs were not up to par, and lukewarm at best. No care was given into doing them as requested. The hashbrown casserole was okay, tasted good, but was not hot. And no I didn't complain, the waitress was not paying attention and it seemed to me nobody on duty in the dining area was paying attention nor did they care. It like they were all sleepwalking including the single cashier on duty. I will say that the older hostess lady was on her game and a lady dressed primarily in black bussing tables, those two were hustling and acted like they have a damn. This place really needs to focus on service and making sure things are done properly and the staff is well trained. I am highly disappointed and will never eat at this location again. With this experience I don't know if I'll go to a Cracker Barrel again. Y'all suck! read more

Stopped to eat dinner around 7pm on Sunday Nov 3 2024. Ordered the Chicken salad. Was the WORST salad that I ever had. The bacon pieces looked like mystery food and was hard as rocks. It was iceberg lettuce which it did not state on menu. It was supposed to come with onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, hard boiled egg slices, grilled chicken slices and corn bread muffins. Well the salad came with no onions, it had 4 little strips of chicken, 3cherry tomatoes, 2 cucumbers and some undetectable food that was hard as a rock that we think was bacon. I especially asked her when I ordered to please have onions on it and it was supposed to come with it, well now onions. The waitress didn't come back so I asked another waitress to please tell her that I would like some. Our waitress finally brought some when I was almost done. I asked for check and informed her there was no egg on the salad and there was supposed to be. Also the bacon was old and hard as a rock , along with my corn bread muffins. It's like they were cooked last week and left uncovered to get hard as hockey pucks. The waitress said after I told her about my salad missing the items and asking for our check, replied to me would you like me to get you a egg? I responded no thanks I would have liked it on my salad, like it stated and not when we are leaving. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional. They were not busy. I was her only table , till when we were leaving another table came in. The other waitress even asked me if I ever got my onions, so I think she understood. My husband tried to order two or three things that they were out of. . RUN FROM THIS RESTAURANT, and you won't feel ripped off like you paid for the worst food and horrible service. Service was fine. Food was okay. I feel like if you are advertising a special product in the window of the entrance, you have a placard on the table advertising the product, and you out put a special menu in front of me advertising a meal with that product, and then I order that product, then you should have that product available. The cinnamon role pie was heavily advertised throughout the store and on the table. The menu had a meal. I was persuaded to order it only to be told by the server that he would have to go to the kitchen to see if they had it. Really? And, of course, they did not. He said the reason that they didn't have it was that it takes four hours to cool and someone had not made it the night before. I was having brunch at 11:00 a.m. Apparently one was cooling at that moment, but it wasn't going to be ready until well after I left. So maybe don't bring the special menu if you don't have the product you are heavily advertising or maybe mention up front that you don't have the product before I waste my time ordering and then have to make another decision because you are out of stock. There was nothing really wrong with the meal I ended up with. It just wasn't the meal that I wanted to order. read more

The worst dining experience I've ever had at a Cracker Barrel. We went on July 5 at 5pm. The lemon pepper trout smelled so strong that we were afraid it was spoiled. One taste and we knew we couldn't eat it. There was hardly any seasoning and it tasted off. We were served biscuits that looked like they were from the day before, dry and hard. We weren't even given the normal choice between biscuits or corn muffins. The bacon on the salad looked raw. I NEVER plan to visit this Cracker Barrel again. Who doesn't love shopping at the Cracker Barrel shop while waiting on Takeout? I love their shop so cute and a little of everything. The food came out about 10 minutes past the time they said it would be ready. It was about a 5 minute drive back to our hotel. We we went to eat it, it was already cold, so I am unsure if it sat in the restaurant a bit before being brought out to us. Luckily we had a microwave at the hotel and it tasted fine. I imagine it would have been much better if we ate in house. Next time we will try it at the restaurant. read more

This Cracker Barrel is open for dining and following COVID restrictions, such as (face coverings when entering, staff has face covers and their tables and chairs on the outside are off limits for people to sit on). One thing I would like to point out is that we went later on the night and they had everyone coming in sitting in one area, it would've been great if they actually spaced people out, I understand that they might want to clean other areas and get ready to close but it was 2 hours and 1/2 before closing time. We just finished breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and once again, had a great meal. Delivered to our table exactly as we had ordered. We have one concern, which has been the situation all three mornings that we encountered at this cracker barrel this week. There is that the silverware has been put in the little bags handle first, which means that the person bagging handled the tines of the fork, the bowl of the spoon, etc. we do know that according to Cracker Barrel's instructions it should be put in handle last so that that's what you handle when you take it out of the bag. We asked to see a manager; Heather; she seemed dismissive about the situation and irritated that we bothered her. read more

This spot is a solid Cracker Barrel with good food, good atmosphere, and Covid-safe precautions being taken. I'm visiting from Austin, Texas and my parents aren't really the sushi/street taco/ethnic food type. Good simple food is what they like, and to be honest I love it too. We've been in to this location and also ordered it from DoorDash. Dining in was a great experience with cleanliness being the top priority and equal to great food at breakfast. The food we ordered through DoorDash was good too: a family meal of grilled chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, carrots, and green beans. The delivery was a little expensive but you're paying also for convenience. I'd recommend going here. Abigail, my server, seemed to be new and wasn't the most friendly type. Not abrasive, just seemed more interested in just taking my order then wanting to make me feel welcome. My family stopped here for lunch on our way out of Missouri for vacation. The place was busy but to my surprise we were seated within 15 minutes and for a party of 7 I was impressed. That's where the good experience ends. After a very long wait our food arrived. The food was mediocre at best and I will tell you do not order the hamburger. Our food was brought to the table by someone other than our server. We did not have any utensils so I went to the hostess stand to get some and was told they were out and we would have to wait for our server to bring them. The entire time we waited our food sat on the table getting cold. Eventually we were given utensils and we quickly finished our lunch. I forgot to mention that we were traveling with 3 small children who had run out of patience by this time. The last thing I wanted to do on a traveling day is spend 2 hours trying to have lunch! Well below the typical Cracker Barrel standard. I've eaten at Cracker Barrel restaurants in probably ten or so different states. They have all been pretty much the same. Pretty good food, pretty good prices, and pretty good service. Not this one. The service was acceptable. The waitress was nice enough, but the food was not good at all. I ordered fried chicken, hash brown casserole, and a salad. The fried chicken was either way over cooked, or it had been under a light for three or four hours. From the crappy, dried out taste, I'd guess the latter. It really was bad. Bad enough that I'm feeling a little nauseous as I write this. The Hash Brown Casserole was dry and crusty. I couldn't eat it. The salad was a salad. I would have gone with one star but the guy with me had something else, and he said "it was okay." There are two many other places to eat in this area. I don't like leaving poor reviews but I feel like I have to after my experience today. My wife got the biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs with cheese, hash brown casserole, with sausage, bacon, and ham. I got the French toast, scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage patty's, and a side order of the casserole. The only thing I'm convinced wasn't heated up in a microwave after being frozen or made out of a box was the casserole, and even that wasn't very well mixed. The sausage tasted like hotdogs, the french toast was worse quality than the frozen garlic bread you get at Walmart, the gravy almost certainly was made in a box, and the worst part, by far, was the eggs. They seemed like they were eggs in a carton which, I'm not gonna lose my mind over, but we both ordered our eggs with cheese and both scrambled eggs came out with a single piece of American cheese slapped on top. I wish I would've taken a picture but we had a fussy 2 year old so it wasn't exactly a priority. The service was fine. Our waiter was in training and definitely doing his best as well as the rest of the staff however I can count on one hand how many times I've had a meal at a restaurant that was this disappointing. I don't know what happened to Cracker Barrel as I used to LOVE their breakfast but this is not it. read more

Had a pretty good experience at this Cracker Barrel for dinner! I got the Mommas Pancake breakfast just like I always do and my husband got the country fried steak. My scrambled eggs were a bit under cooked but they were still good. Bacon was a little greasy but still delicious. The pancakes and syrup are my all time favorite as well, they are my favorite part of coming. Our waitress Angel was wonderful, she always made sure we had what we needed. The wait staff was excellent we must've had the best waiter but the food on the other hand was mediocre at best. I had a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and collard greens. The chicken fried steak was a pre-package type like something you would get at Costco. I mean it did not taste bad but it was not great it was just middle of the road at best. My girlfriend had the fried fish she said it tasted way too fishy. She had okra as a side and it was soggy. My family and I just left the restaurant. On the positive side my daughters chicken sandwich was really good. My husbands roast beef meal also good. Although he didn't get the country gravy for his mashed potatoes. Not a big deal. My mini hamburgers were burnt. Not well done. They were cold and burnt the cheese wasn't melted. My other daughters catfish was under cooked and her Mac and cheese was ice cold. So she had fries for dinner. When the manager came to the table she didn't want to address anything other than the awful burger meal. We got no drink refills. No jelly no tarter sauce. I understand short staffing. I feel I should of paid for the two edible meals. But the manager was not willing to take anything off but the mini burger meal. $6.
