Our go-to when we want a good steak at a decent price. Also, make sure you are in the mood for an upbeat, rocking atmosphere. For a quiet, peaceful, candlelit dinner, consider a different restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is set up so that large crowds can be processed efficiently and waits are kept to a minimum. They have a nice check-in system where you get in line on your phone and by the time you get there, you have already moved up the line! I am partial to the prime rib, and have also enjoyed the sirloin and ribeye steaks. The cooks know their way around a steak and it is always perfectly cooked to order. A very few times, the steak has some gristle and was a bit tough, but most of the time they serve great quality meat. There is not a bad seat in the house, the staff seems to be spread out to cover all areas. Ok hear me out.... The food is always great the steak is the reason we go here to have dinner. However the sweet tea is just not sweet tea... there is a list of places in town top to bottom and this is one of the lower rated places and I understand why. However the food is fresh, tasteful and I would order under your preference of the cook. It does tend to be closer to done than medium. The servers for the most part are prompt and kind but can be dismissive or don't see you staring at them from across the room because it does get busy. I personally like to go for a great lunch date or family dinner. But parties over 6 don't fit well in booths. Yes Yelpers, Texas Roadhouse in Cookeville, Tn very good service. Went here on a Friday night and the crowd was already there. Went here on did the join the waitlist and got right in. Food was pretty good, came out hot and fresh. Got my usual the chicken portabella and mushrooms with a loaded baked potato and the seasoned rice. The serving is smaller but still had to take it home. Food is ALWAYS GOOD but the boy with the polished fingernails WAS RUDE. We haven't been to this particular one since moving here a few years ago. When he threw my husbands salad onto the table was rude and we don't even know why. So after that I began to notice his/her demeanor towards others and us. I was extremely impressed with this location. I have had Texas Roadhouse many times and the food has not come out as fresh and flavorful as this location. I really wished I complimented whoever made the salads we were raving about how this has got to be the best salad and lettuce that we've had at any sit down restaurant for some time. The sirloin was tender and cooked to perfection and the sweet potatoes were made perfectly. My friends and I went here for lunch and my friend ordered a Ribeye, which came out well done even though he asked for medium rare. After informing the waitress, the steak was recooked, brought out to us by the manager and when we cut into it, it was raw. After recooking it a THIRD time, it was still not medium rare. Additionally, I ordered a sirloin medium and it came out more like medium rare and extremely chewy. We informed the manager of this as well who gave us a discount for the meal, but then proceeded to make a comment to another waiter who laughed while looking at us. Our waitress was extremely kind, but management overall seems to be lacking in ability, competence, and general professionalism. Would not recommend this Texas Roadhouse at all. read more

For starters, their rolls are the best rolls made at a restaurant to this date, and the blooming onion is amazing to eat if you dip it in the sauce they give you with it. Our waitress checked on us pretty much every time she was going by that she didn't have another's table in her hand. Late night dining and we were greeted with a warm and inviting greeting by Brock our server. His genuine enthusiasm and passion for his job was evident. He went above and behind to make the dining experience more pleasant and enjoyable. He apologized numerous times for the lack of dirty dishes willing to hand clean them. The food choices recommended was amazing however his kitchen staff didn't live up to his expectations and he again apologized for the kitchen staff and offer to make it right in whatever capacity. He continued to smile show great hospitality and respect. Great young man to have as a part of your establishment. His enthusiasm was far more than his boss. She wasn't as outgoing or even pleasant to speak to as we were expressing the greatest in Brock. Train him to be your next store manager. Differently see him thriving in the industry. I ordered a Texas Size Combo Filet 6oz and Ribs, medium, with tops and sides and a grilled shrimp sidekick TO GO for my 70th birthday dinner. When I got home and opened everything up, the filet was burnt, dry, and well done as well as tough. The ribs were the same. Not even going to try the shrimp. It would be one thing if I lived in Cookeville, but I'm 12 miles/20 minutes away in the country and get 12 MPG. I will return it all, and I expect a full refund and an equal value gift card if they ever want me back. I could not have been more disappointed. I guess this is the kind of crap all these restaurants do with their "ToGo" orders because they know you're not going to check it out before you leave. Quality should be no different from what is served when you sit down in the restaurant for the meal. Absolutely no excuse for this kind of crap. Excellent service! Our server, Faith was fabulous! She made sure we were well taken care of. Did not have to request anything....refills, extra rolls, to go boxes....all done with intention! What a great spot! I was in town for business and wandered out for burger and a beer. Ended up sitting at the bar and met Sarah the bar tender. She was Amazing! Single hand-idly ran the bar. commanded the bar like I've never seen- not an empty seat- trust me that was a feat- and for me that's saying something. The bar nor the tables had to wait for a drink. The last thing Cookeville needed was ANOTHER steakhouse, so when Texas Roadhouse opened I wasn't expecting any difference between the other several steakhouses here but boy was I wrong! I've been twice and both times my steak was cooked perfecting and was the best steak I've ever had, I know that's a bold statement but it's true. The sides are also delicious, the side salads are fresh and HUGE and the green beans are outstanding with so much flavor you wouldn't even know you're eating something healthy. We ate here last night (on a Saturday) and it was packed. We had to wait two hours for a table, so we went and did a little shopping after getting our reservation. Then they sent a text when our table was ready. This was our first trip ever to a Texas Roadhouse restaurant, and we were not disappointed. Josh, our waiter, was awesome and very helpful. He also kept our drinks refilled and dropped by every few minutes to check on us. We had the bacon cheese fries appetizer, and they also brought a basket of fresh rolls with some type of cinnamon butter to the table when we first sat down. However, we didn't care for the butter. The rolls were delicious though, as was our appetizer. I had the road kill (which was a chopped steak) with a baked potato and house salad. It came with onions, mushrooms, and cheese on top, but with me on the Migraine diet I couldn't eat all that; so I ordered mine plain. It was amazing without anything on it! My son got the chicken tenders and steak fries, which he said were delicious; but he had already filled up on the rolls and appetizer, and had to bring most of his home. My daughter had the country-fried steak with white gravy on top and a side of green beans and mashed potatoes. She said hers was wonderful as well. My boyfriend had the 8 ounce sirloin and shrimp with mashed potatoes and corn. He said the steak was the most tender one he has ever eaten, and the shrimp were seasoned perfectly. All the staff were wearing masks, but they weren't seating guests apart, as every table and the bar was full. We wore our masks to and from the table, but very few others were. We noticed they did a special thing regarding a wooden stand and saddle for guests celebrating birthdays, which we thought was neat. Also whenever a certain song would play, several of the waiters and waitresses would line dance in the middle of the restaurant. We really enjoyed watching that! The prices were great too. Normally for what all we get at most steak restaurants, our bill is $100 or more. So we were pleasantly surprised to see it was only $75 here. We will definitely be back. I recommend if you plan to go before the new wears off, you call ahead or reserve a table online, so you are having to sit and wait hours for a table. They also do carry out, and it seemed to be just a popular as dine-in. read more

I have had very good food here in the past but today was not good. I placed order online for curbside for the steakhouse filet salad . Had to wait but they had a large order ahead of me so that is understandable. However, when my order finally came out about 15 min late, there were no utensils, no extra dressing for the salad as requested, no bacon bits or onion on the salad, no bread. Also I had to sort thru the salad to discard old brown lettuce. Not a $20 salad. Probably won't go back read more

Finally they sat us at a table and the hostess literally THREW bread and butter on the table. The butter went everywhere and the rolls flew out of the basket. She rolled her eyes and walked off. Food was sub par and took over an hour for it to get to the table. Asked to talk to the manager 3 hours before and finally he came to the table and had a lot of excuses......we've never been this busy, so many people, large parties....etc, etc. I'm sorry, I've been in the food industry for years and you should know what to do and be prepared for busy nights.
