He said he did call to the back and let the manager know. Still we waited until finally a man came out said nothing to us but went to clean a table. He finally came out to us and seated us at a table. The waitress was very nice, but visibly stressed. She took our order and while we were waiting more people were coming in and getting upset about waiting for someone to help them. They just decided to seat themselves." Wife & I visit Cracker Barrel's around the USA while traveling and 99% of the time we consistently receive very good service and quality food. At this location which we have visited approximately 5 times in a year's time and they are consistently terrible! Today we went in for late breakfast/early lunch and were seated immediately and waitress came over fairly quickly and asked about our drinks, at which time we said what we wanted to drink and she returned fairly quickly and took our food order. This is where things went down hill, after waiting around 20 mins for our order, a young man stopped by table to ask how things were going. We said all was good if we could get our food. Please keep in mind, it's not like the place was packed or anything. About another 5 minutes went by and our waitress came to table we asked if she knew what the holdup was on our meal. Our waitress came back out with our food. We asked for eggs over medium and all of our eggs were hard and a couple broken & hard. Our hash brown casserole was crispy dark brown on tops but none of the food on our plates was hot. We figured our food must of been setting in the kitchen under a warming lamp. The young man came back by and I asked if I could speak to manager, he said there wasn't a manager but there was a lead shift person, but she was in the kitchen cooking! He walked off and another lady came out and asked what the issue was, she was very polite and apologized. She took our food and within another 7 minutes, returned with fresh plates of food and told us to enjoy and they were not charging us for our meal. I explained that we appreciated that but we didn't come in for a free meal but wanted properly prepared food in a timely manner. She understood and again apologized. The time prior to this visit, after paying for our not well prepared meal, I complained to manager and she was also very nice and gave us a coupon for a free meal on next visit, which I never used. Figured we would give them another try after a previous bad visit hoping things improved and boy were we disappointed. Was not crowded. Hostess quickly sat us at a 4 chair table and told us they were out of high chairs and only had boosters seats left. Seat was dirty and she just placed it on chair without installing or attaching it. The table had just been wiped down and was soaking wet and sticky. Waitress was not friendly, difficult to hear, and didn't seem to know the menu. Food took over 45 minutes to come out. We asked for a status and was told they were busy. The table behind us had the same concern. Maybe you should limit how many people you seat if unable to keep up cooking needs. Not sure what they think scrambled eggs are but eggs over hard are not scrambled. When asked was given attitude. I tried to give this place a chance more than once. I've gone back sporadically over the last couple years, but this is consistently the worst Cracker Barrel in the country. I've gone to the one near the airport and the one in Plymouth meeting multiple times. There is almost never an issue there. This one is horrible every time. After seeing a movie with my son, we went to Cracker Barrel and ordered food. After ordering, we waited 45 mins, they come out again to tell me they don't have what I ordered. This is the sixth time something like this has happened where my family was able to eat, but I was unable to eat. It's getting pretty old. The service is horrible. The staff constantly turns over. We ended up at Cracker Barrel today for breakfast. We ordered a hot tea and coffee, and were brought two teas. Waiter came back with coffee and we placed our order. Hubby's order was fine, but I'd requested blueberry pancakes. Waiter took them back and left the remainder of my breakfast, two eggs and meats. Stopped in for a "Breakfast for Dinner" night. 1/2 the sausage was raw and it tasted off. Asked for bacon instead as there was def. Something wrong with the 2 pieces of cooked sausage. They replaced the one order with bacon that was soggy, we were expected to eat the off tasting sausage (no thanks I don't need food poisoning from bad pork). Our visit on Tuesday, 11/5/2024 (Election Day) was HORRIBLE!! Although a full table of managers were facing us at the hostess desk, none of them made an effort to have us seated. We stood there for approximately 5 mins (I only remained because my husband was hungry). I do not think a total of 8 tables were occupied. When the host "finally" showed up, he escorted us to the last section, in the corner, near the exit door. Our server, Jasmin, stood in the kitchen and TALKED to a coworker while taking her time to greet us. Her greeting was POOR, as evident by the slop she brought to our table. My order was completely WRONG. The potatoes were cold and lumpy. My husband's sweet potato looked like something they found in the trash. Yasmin placed this huge marshmallow on top of my husband's sweet potato like a hat. Her response was, "some people do not like it mashed". At this point, I had enough of the disrespect and bordering, "we do not like your type here". I left the slop on the table and spoke to the manager, Jessica Meyers. We ordered curbside pickup and were horrified. One of our side items was totally missing from the order. we ordered the loaded sweet potato and it was disgusting. It had roots growing out of it and was dirty. Apparently no one even looked at it before giving it to us. And it was NOT loaded. On a previous curbside order we got the 'extra meal' of meatloaf and Mac and cheese, and it literally looked like they scraped leftovers off someone's plate to give to us. This location was a hot mess. How do you run out of chicken tenders on a Saturday night? It's all my kid would eat and we were out of luck I guess. They bring the loaded sweet potato out to the table about 45 min later with my kids grilled cheese who has already had a meltdown because he is starving. Don't make kids wait that long for crying out loud. What is wrong with people. My food was cold. Ice cold. The potato with the marshmallow topping must come that way frozen in one piece because it was ice cold practically still frozen in time. And the salad I order looked like it was stuck together. From the time I walked in the door (10 minute wait for an almost empty restaurant) till the time I got up and walked out I was disappointed. Another 7-10 minutes before a server even walked up. 20 minutes or so before my order came out. The menu must've changed because this is the worst chicken dumplings I've ever had. Grilled chicken and noodles in a watery broth. I'm hoping it was just an off night, but from reading the reviews, I guess it's typical for that location. Was actually going to ask the server if the recipe changed but she never came back. I actually got up and walked out without paying. Leaving a full so-called meal on the table. I won't be returning. Came here for dinner, as soon as we walked in, the hostess said "I'm sorry, my shift is over, I'm leaving, my manager will take care of you". We waited several minutes, a few employees even made eye contact with us and another family that was waiting behind us, but just ignored us all. We then walked into the restaurant and tracked down the manager who said "sorry we are really busy". However, we noticed that the restaurant had many empty tables. The manager then walked away for several more minutes. It seems like the restaurant is very short staffed. We then decided to go to Texas Roadhouse, right next door, best decision ever. Food was bland compared to in years past. Very few utensils were provided - no spoons for menu items clearly requiring a spoon. Waitress was very nice. Had ordered an item that was not provided but them found it was still on the bill. Seems to be a decline in the quality of food and service but no drop in prices. This is a solid family restaurant. I hadn't been to a Cracker Barrel in over a decade but my 4 year old son kept raving about it after going with his dad and grandparents so the two of us had a mommy son date on a Thursday afternoon. There were only a few tables of guests and they had us spaced out so the customers were spread out. I came in with low expectations as I normally don't care for chains or Southern food. The kids menu didn't look healthy but they were super accommodating and made a kids size grilled chicken and broccoli for my son for the kids price. Apparently Cracker Barrel makes great grilled chicken because my son finished it and he never eats mine. He also let me know that they have the best biscuits and mac n cheese ever. I do agree that the complimentary biscuits are great and were the highlight of my experience. The mac n cheese won't disappoint; And you know it's good when a 4 year old likes it over Kraft. I had the sirloin steak and they cooked it exactly as requested (medium well). For sides, I had green turnips, broccoli and mac n cheese. Was my steak as good as a steakhouse? Of course not. This is certainly not Fogo quality. But for $13 it was very good and better than I expected. I appreciate my veggies weren't greasy or coated in butter and oil like some other chain restaurants do. The server April was amazing and sweet. She was super attentive and just seemed like a caring and friendly person. The service was what I'd expect at a high end restaurant. The store attached to the restaurant may be a pro or con debating on how you look at it. It is super cute with all kinds of stuff you probably don't need but can't resist. They had some great deals on the sales rack. Just a warning- it's impossible to escape without your child asking you to buy a toy or candy. And since you have to walk through the store to get to the restaurant, you'll probably hear some persuasive arguments for a hot wheels or dinosaur from your kids twice. Based on my experience and this being my son's favorite restaurant ever (he talks about Cracker Barrel even more than Sesame Place), I'm giving it 5 stars. read more

Didn't like this location at all. The service was terrible. We waited to be seated while many tables were open. The hostess told us there wasnt enough servers to work the floor. The waitress took a while to take orders and drinks were often left empty for a few minutes before being filled. They also didnt provide any napkins other than the one they give you when you sit down. The alleged manager I talked to said the order went through a call center. Either way, the hot mess in customer service that Cracker Barrel (and especially the Downingtown PA location) is a major reason why the company is in severe financial straits! My only note for this particular spot: one of the servers was absolutely racist, unhelpful, and biased. It took FOREVER to get my food, while every other customer (non-POC) got their food first though they were seated long after me, my steak was absolutely raw, and it took her way too long to bring in actual plates, utensils and condiments for me to use at the table. My order was take-out. The roast beef was terrible! Instead of a tender slice of beef it was the small overcooked bits from the bottom of the pan that were so hard I could not stick my fork in them. It was garbage so I threw it out. They never would have served that to a customer at a table because they know the customer would send it back and tell the manager. I went to the restaurant with a group of 3 and we were seated pretty quickly as the restaurant didn't seem to be too busy. After we were seated we waited 45 minutes and nobody ever came up to us to take our drink or food order. One of the members of my group went up to the host stand to let the staff know that we weren't upset but that we may have been forgotten as nobody came to our table. We arrived to Cracker Barrel at 9am, and was informed there was a 15 minute wait. Upon waiting 25 minuted our name was called. We did not mind the extra wait as it was to be expected. We promptly sat down ready to order everything as we used the waiting time to look over the menu. We sat there for 20 minutes and we're not acknowledged. There was 4 servers who had walked by and ignored us. There was no communication stating someone would be right over. There was no glances are way. The service was rude and unprofessional. This place as gone from good trust worthy to "you have got to be kidding me" within a few months. I'm not sure what is going on, but corporate needs to take a good look at Management. It used to take less than 10 minutes for a table and the past two time I've gone there were 30 minute waits. I get it if they are busy, but there are empty tables. This mean that the restaurant is poorly staffed. I ordered dumplings and hash brown casserole and after waiting for more than 20 minutes, they arrive like warm and they appear to have been sitting on the plate for a while. The Coca Cola take was dried out and the frosting has a cracking texture. The silverware really could have used another run through the dishwasher. There is no need to wait until the dinner is served before brining out the biscuits. Biscuits and corn bread should be served before the meal. When I mentioned to the server that I would like to have them delivered before the meal, I was told that the waitress would try. This really shouldn't be hard to accomplish, unless the management has some motivation the screw with the customers. I have no desire to return to this Cracker Barrel and will give the Plymouth Meeting location a try.
