I didn't realize I had stopped at the Garner Cracker Barrel as last time I was there my order was completely wrong so I had avoided another stop. Anyway that is where I ended up today and hoped it would be better. My visit started well and the waitress was friendly but after she took my order and dropped off my food I never saw her again until she dropped off the bill. She was checking on other tables and refilling beverages but ignored me. I was never given a napkin and noticed the same thing at other tables. The couple in front of me used the brown paper bag the silverware was in. Another table was brought napkins as they were getting up and leaving the table. I was tempted to go get a napkin from that table as she wasn't clearing the tables either. When I was provided the bill I let her know I did not have a napkin but by the time she got back I was leaving too. I'm not sure if they were short on napkins and not providing them but service was not good. I had the chicken pot pie and did enjoy my meal though. But I won't be back to the Garner Cracker Barrel.

I was here when they opened this morning. One of the first people through the door when they opened it. We all were greeted promptly and with a smile and invited in. We were then seated and our servers took our drink orders right away. I drank ice tea, and I ordered a country fried steak, scrambled eggs and hash brown casserole. The country fried steak had a good flavor, you could taste the beef, and the outside was crispy. The gravy was very thick with a mild taste. The eggs were cooked well and the casserole was the perfect compliment to this meal. My server (Jamie) was friendly and helpful. She made this visit very enjoyable. After eating I wandered their store a bit and saw they had Lodge cast iron cookware (with the Cracker Barrel logo on the bottom) which I like. I ended up buying a 5" square skillet. This was a great start to my day.

We live a good pancake breakfast from Cracker Barrel. Those crispy edges get me every time.

We had to wait a really long time for our food. Biscuits were cold and not as good as they once were. Disappointed.

The toasted sourdough was a nice touch for sopping up bites. The fried okra was a standout--lightly battered, bright green inside, and not soggy (a minor miracle) The chicken tenders had a peppery cornmeal breading that stayed crunchy and paired well with the dipping sauce. But the most nostalgic part was the warm biscuit split open with peach jelly--sweet, sunny, and the perfect finish! Overall: Comfort food done well, generous portions, great textures, and totally worth the visit

As a foodie from the Bay Area who's been spending more time in the Southeast for work, I've been on…read morea bit of a personal mission to understand and appreciate Southern cuisine. It's been an interesting journey--because while I absolutely respect the tradition, my palate has definitely evolved over the years toward lighter, more elevated, visually beautiful food. That said, sometimes you just have to lean in and experience the classics. Tupelo Honey had been on my list for a while, so during a recent work trip to Raleigh-Durham, I decided to check it off. The location is in a very nice, upscale area--one of those shopping districts where, if you see a Whole Foods nearby, you know the neighborhood is going to be polished, safe, and easy to navigate. Parking was simple in a lot across the street, and since I had a reservation, I was seated quickly on the patio, which was lovely and comfortable. For starters, I ordered the "biscuits for a cause," which is a nice touch knowing the proceeds support employee relief and development funds. They were warm and classic Southern biscuits--exactly what you'd expect. For my entrée, I went with the honey-dusted fried chicken (dark meat), a true Southern staple. It was well prepared, flavorful, and satisfying, especially if you're in the mood for something hearty and traditional. I also tried a cocktail called "The Debutante," which was pleasant and refreshing, and finished the meal with the butter pecan cheesecake for dessert. Overall, the meal was good--solid, reliable Southern comfort food--but if I'm being completely honest, it wasn't particularly memorable for me. I was traveling for work and dining on a per diem, so it checked the box for a dependable dinner in a convenient location. As a larger regional chain, it feels a bit like a rite of passage when you're spending time in the Southeast--something you try once to understand the landscape. Bottom line: Tupelo Honey delivers classic Southern comfort food in a polished, accessible setting. Service was smooth, the patio was pleasant, and everything was executed well. For me personally, it was a good experience--but not one I'd necessarily go out of my way to repeat. Still, as I continue eating my way through the Carolinas and beyond, I'm glad I gave it a try.

The place was always packed and busy yet cozy and calm with great service. Hopefully they relocate or put some of the items from the menu at Pooles. I understand as if you aren't seated when they open, you can expect a 90-minute to two-hour wait. I was hoping to get the Chicken Pot Pie this time and thought my prior visit was just off. I was thrilled that most of the menu was available. They were just out of the banana pudding. So I got to try the pecan wings I read about with the white sauce. It was so good. Then I got the chicken pot pie and biscuits. The pot pie had old biscuits for the topping, but the creamy mixture with large chunks of chicken was delicious. My biscuits came with honey and were served warm. I left with a slice of the chocolate-caramel-coconut cake, a side salad without onions, and a fried boneless thigh. The salad was made correctly, and the dressing was included. The salad was full of veggies, and the cake was rich and moist. Service was friendly and as soon as I finished my iced tea, another appeared. My wings were brought out first and it was a while for the rest of the meal as the restaurant was full. But they didn't rush me at all. I actually liked the space between the dishes, as I might not have been able to eat it all otherwise. I couldn't finish both biscuits and was even provided a container for the honey. I am going to miss Beasley's, but I'm glad I got a positive experience to remember the restaurant.
