I've been a regular customer at Cracker Barrel for years and visit about once a month for breakfast with my family. Most of the time, the food is excellent. I almost always order the country fried steak, and it's consistently delicious. My wife also enjoys her meals and rarely has any complaints. However, over the past few months (since around April), we've noticed the experience has become a bit inconsistent. The sweet tea is sometimes not sweet at all, and the food can take quite a while to come out. Service has also been hit or miss we've had to flag down our server for drink refills on several occasions, and this seems to be happening more regularly. I truly enjoy eating here and hope these issues can be addressed because this has always been one of our favorite breakfast spots. That's the only reason I'm giving this location 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5. read more

Still the same great hash brown casserole and turnip greens that I remember. Its been a minute since I've eaten here. Silly me, I decided to come at exactly noon on a Sunday. I was told it was a 40 min wait, but was happy that they were able to seat me in half that time. The waiter was awesome...on top of our every refill, even offering to-go beverage cups. Yay. The food was served quickly, tasted yummy and priced well. Of course prices have gotten higher since my last visit a few years ago, but still well worth it. I left stuffed. I got a steak it was pretty fatty, and I got a doggy bag literally I took half of it which was fat [home to my dog] it was at least cooked. However, I was very underwhelmed by everything basically being just acceptable/satisfactory [instead of good], especially when they were just having breakfast kind of hard to mess that up or take longer. We got there about 730pm [restaurant closes at 9pm]. We were the last people sat at about 8pm, and the last table served. Service is INCREDIBLY SLOWWW. I wouldn't come an hour and a half before closing time either, it seems the staff seem to give up on prompt service by that point. This is absolutely the worst food experience I've ever had in my life. The manager was horrible with an attitude. She told me that my grits have to be running like soup, and that was the only way they make them. the catfish was cooked hard as hell and burn, they made no attempt to fix my order. They told me that is the way they cook here. I recommend that the manager and the staff all be replaced. They didn't make one single attempt to fix my order. She told me that it would take her 40 minutes to make new grits and a restaurant where they were only five people, and she couldn't guarantee that they would not be runny. I cook grits at home in four minutes and she had the nerve to tell me it would take her 40 minutes to have them redo grits just the audacity for her to say something like that was a insult on my intelligence.. I ordered a country fried chicken dinner and looks like they cooked the chicken on the fish fryer because it tasted like fish I told the server and she tried to help but the damage was already done i was disgusted . Usually in cases like this you expect a manager or a supervisor to come out and show interest especially when I cancelled my meal but all I got was the meal cancelled and a free item for the next visit. I want to give a huge shout-out to Harmony, the Cracker Barrel District Manager, for truly saving my Thanksgiving. I went through the drive-through to pick up my order only to realize--on Thanksgiving Day--that I had never actually placed it. Without hesitation, Harmony jumped into action. She personally put together the full meal for four people right there in the makeshift drive-through, and even made it easy for me to pay on my phone. What stood out the most was the attitude of Harmony and the team. There was no blame, no frustration--just kindness, grace, and a genuine desire to help. They didn't make me feel bad for the mix-up; they simply fixed the problem, and they did it with outstanding service. I can't say enough about how grateful I am. Harmony and her team literally saved my Thanksgiving, and I'm incredibly appreciative of their professionalism and compassion. read more

Everything is very good with the exception of the honey fried chicken. It was burned, meat was inedible, and the pieces were tiny. I even waited several minutes for them to remake it because it looked so terrible. It was still terrible. Why bother? Should have ordered the hamburger steak or meatloaf. Lesson learned. read more

Was there with two female relatives, we wanted a quick and efficient breakfast. The store is always the star of the show and I admit it's August but I bought a few Halloween items that was too cute to pass up! ....we can leave the highs there. Our server while kind did disclose that she doesn't work the breakfast shift usually only lunch.....okay we definitely could cut her some slack; however some red flags indicated I don't know if her lunch shift would be any better. When we stated we needed another few minutes she said "okay no problem if you are ready and I don't notice you just get my attention"........ahhhhh okay. Three Iced teas with about 6 ice cubes in them by the time the food came out there was nothing, I thought it was common knowledge that iced tea requires lots of ice because it melts fast. I had the "old timers " breakfast with sausage and hash browns which was their casserole cheesy and salty the eggs were good but when everything was delivered we asked for ice for our ice teas , napkins as there were none and my biscuits that came with my meal according to the menu. We waited and waited and waited finally we got two cups of ice, napkins and biscuits which was suppose to be biscuits and gravy ! But okay I don't want to be a pain, gravy isn't healthy anyway so I ignored it . One relative had a gray spot on a piece of her French toast which she refused to eat as she didn't know what could possibly cause a gray spot besides a dirty griddle. *First clue about this place - Almost empty parking lot at 12:30 on Tuesday afternoon. *Second clue - Nobody to greet or seat us for about 5-7 minutes. There was nobody else waiting before us or after us. *Third clue - 7 dirty tables out of 11 in the area we were seated. *Fourth clue - Waited about 5 minutes to be acknowledged by waitress. When she did come to the table she was very friendly, but looked like she was very tired. You will see why in a few minutes. We got our drinks right after we ordered. She got our order. I ordered the steak, friend ordered meatloaf and sister ordered chicken strips. During this time, the dirty tables were still not addressed. About 15 minutes after we were seated, someone did clean the table next to us. Mind you there were only 9 people eating and nobody waiting to be seated. About 5 minutes after the table next to us was cleaned a couple were seated. Keep in mind, the other remaining that were dirty were still not cleaned. A group of 4 sitting diagonal from our table got their food, this was around 30 minutes after we were seated. Something was wrong with the order and one lady waited about 5 minutes and had to track down someone to get the order correct. Keep in mind there were only 9 people including our group that were in there. Someone finally cleaned another dirty table across the aisle from us and shortly after a couple were seated. We finally got our order about 10 minutes later. My steak was cold and so tough even the steak knife barely cut it. It was so tough you could barely stick the fork in it to cut the meat. The fries were hot but the corn was cold and no spoon to eat it with. You ever tried to eat corn with a fork from a small bowl? The lady whose birthday it was that ordered the meatloaf, well lets say it was meatloaf, was very disappointed. No sauce on the meatloaf, it was so dry and cold she had a hard time trying to even cut it to eat. The mashed potato's were warm and the gravy was for the most part warm. The other person who ordered the chicken strips, carrots and broccoli was the winner of a completely hot meal. The chicken was cooked well, steamed carrots were hot and the broccoli was acceptable also. Not bad 33% got an acceptable meal from our group of 3. The waitress did come by 3 times to see if we wanted more soft drinks before our meal came. And once after. I have nothing critical to say about her. She was fantastic and I wish I could remember her name. I think she was the only waitress there as I didn't see anyone else serving anyone. The remaining 3 tables that were dirty were finally cleaned, but not sure who it was that was cleaning them. The birthday girl did get a free piece of chocolate cake, which she took home with her. Overall Staff: (If you could call whomever seated us staff) 1 star Waitress: 5+ stars (She was very nice and friendly) Cashier: 4 stars (She was friendly but when asked if everything was good, to which I relied, it was nothing to write home about, didn't ask for any explanation why) Cleanliness: 2 stars (Dirty table took too long to bus. Men's bathroom was dirty and smelled, women's bathroom when I asked sister if it was okay said, "Don't ask" so you can only imagine) When Cracker Barrel went "woke" we stopped going to them - This was the second Cracker Barrel to fail. The one in Goodyear was no good either when tried after they became "un-woke" again. We will never frequent another Cracker Barrel again. Overall - 1 Star (with the exception of the waitress who was superb 5+ stars for her. This used to be my favorite chain of restaurants to go to. I love the store and service. The problem is that the food was subpar at best since the new changes happened. My favorite go-to was always the roast beef dinner. It was tasty and I always knew what to expect. I ordered the dinner today, expecting my old favorite and I got what can only be described as soup or stew. The mash potatoes were "swimming" in the soup and the gravy was incredibly salty. My son in law had chicken fried steak that was tough. The service and staff were wonderful as always. The food was just ok. I feel that if it ain't broke... don't fix it. I stopped at Cracker Barrel for a quick bite to eat before heading to the airport. I was greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. I ordered one of the sunrise breakfast specials that consisted of biscuits, gravy , bacon , and hash brown casserole. I also ordered a hot tea. My food arrived quickly and everything was delicious. My waiter was friendly and checked on me often. I was in and out within 45 minutes. The appetizer came out cold like two minutes before the meal. When I asked the server to remake appetizer she was annoyed. We had a lot to do on a Sunday morning and we decided to stop by Cracker Barrel for a job well done. This is an old time country store. They sell food, candy, drinks, clothes, and other knick knacks in the front of the store. We came so early that they were only serving breakfast. Lunch doesn't start until 11 AM. It was fine because I wanted breakfast. I got biscuits and gravy, sirloin tips, scrambled eggs, hashbrown casserole, blue berry pancakes with blue berry syrup. The waitress was nice enough to bring us the biscuits and gravy before our meals. The sirloin tips were tender but not that seasoned. Biscuits were soft. Gravy was thick but bland. Scrambled eggs were good. Hashbrown casserole taste amazing. The blueberry pancakes were the best. The blueberry syrup was so good that I would have bought a bottle but I had to get on a plane. I've never had Cracker Barrel before and I was really excited to try it. Unfortunately I had to order to go and couldn't experience the country-feel ambiance inside. Sadly, I was disappointed in the food. Pancakes were pretty burnt and the bacon had raw sections (from it not being placed flat while cooking.) The hash browns were a bit greasy so we couldn't finish them. I'm sure the food would've been much better dining inside rather than to go, but I still feel the food shouldn't have gone out this way. I've known about the homey country style chain of restaurants for many years but they are far in between, especially in CA. Served with fried apples or hashbrown casserole and 100% pure natural syrup. I chose the country ham as the third choice of meat and went with the hashbrown casserole. Pancakes were soft and yet had a nice crispiness to them. Meats were cooked just right and the syrup was delicious. She came back and said it would be another 10-15 minutes. We waited about 20 more minutes before I went to look for our server, as she was nowhere to be found. We went to the host stand to ask if they could locate her, and she finally came to our table. I asked again how much longer it would be, and she said another 20 minutes, which I found ridiculous at that point. We told them to cancel our order and left. I have never experienced this at any other restaurant. We understand when it's busy, we might wait a little longer, but this was excessive and having no follow-up was unacceptable. read more

Wow. Never had this bad of an experience at a Cracker Barrel. Party of 7. We arrived at 6:30 PM, seated pretty fast but then waited almost :20 to even be greeted. No drinks offered or anything. Finally took our whole order, waiting another :40 for food to finally arrive. There were only two servers that we could see and never saw any runners or even a Manager helping out. Don't think we feel the need to return. Food was ok but after waiting so long we just wanted to get out of there, which ended up being just after 8:00 PM. Hire more people!!! read more

My to go experience has always been negative. Whenever I order to go, the site gives a designated time frame of when the order will be ready. Usually 30 minutes after I place the order. Today I arrived 35 minutes after I ordered and did the online check in. Waited 10 minutes more and when I called to notify that I had arrived, I was notified it would be another 10 minutes. When I called back in 10 minutes, I was quoted another 5 minutes. I ended up getting my meal 30 minutes after the promised time. I don't understand the purpose of the time frame if they won't honor it. Got an apology from the worker with no empathy but definitely got a nice little attitude from him. read more

We ordered the biscuit beignets, egg sandwich and biscuits and gravy. The food was all served hot a fresh. The biscuit beignets were actually really good! Probably my favorite part of the meal lol they were served with a butter pecan sauce and for $5 cant beat that. I got an egg sandwich which was sourdough, egg, tomato, mayo and I added bacon. It could have used some cheese but was simple and good. Hubs said the gravy was pretty watery and tasted more like a roux than gravy but the biscuits were good. Overall for a cheap quick breakfast Cracker Barrel isn't a bad spot. I'm sure we will pop in again. When we do I'm definitely getting those beignets again though! read more

My first time experience at Cracker Barrel was amazing. The service was great. The cornbread and biscuits came out hot. I opted for the chicken fried chicken and they put the gravy on the side and it was juicy and had a peppery kick. The fried okra and loaded mashed potatoes were okay. The Mac and cheese was tasty and the sweet tea refills kept on coming. I even told the server it was my first time and they gave me a free candy stick! My girlfriend and I went to Cracker Barrel on a Thursday so that she could get the turkey dinner. We arrived around 6:40 PM and they were already out of turkey. Then it took over 40 minutes to get our order. While we were waiting, I noticed the peg games were gone from all the tables. My girlfriend and I usually challenge each other with the game while we wait. I also noticed that the oil lamps were gone from every table! The server was friendly and apologized for the order taking so long and the food was good, but all the negative items made our evening disappointing. read more
