When we arrived, we were told the wait was one hour and decided to go to the bar to start. BEST DECISION EVER! The absolute best service ever! Marissa and the other bartender (I didn't get her name, but sweet and awesome!) They took such good care of us, we will definitely come back next year. Disappointed. My husband and I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now. We came on Saturday just after 4pm and brought our kids (9,12). Downstairs host was nice, asked if we wanted to eat upstairs or down. We decided upstairs. They just told us to head up and talk with the host. We went up. Someone from the bar did shout hi! There was no host seen. There was a handful of workers chatting at the bar even the downstairs host came up and walked by us to join the group chatting. Upstairs had 2 tables of 6-10 people, a handful of small parties outside. We stood there for 4-5 minutes before someone in a St. Patrick's day outfit running food said someone would be with us shortly. Waited another few minutes before the host emerged from the bathroom and sat us. Both my husband and I waited tables and I bartended before (10 years experience). We have a lot of patience and understanding. We were sat and not immediately greeted but a woman came up and quickly dropped water off. Her body language was dismissive and only said just "dropping off water". I really thought it might have been another host or busser, that was tired of getting mistaken for a sever. I brushed it off. We waited so much longer before our server (happened to be the same girl that dropped off the water) came back to take our drink order. She was cold and didn't make eye contact. She was very short with us. Left to put the drink order in. She did bring the kids their soft drinks, but again with an attitude. It was as if we were ruining her day by coming in. 10 min went by. In that time, we saw her walk by and again avoid eye contact. Not even a "your bar drinks are being made", or "I am just going to run these dishes back and come back to take your order. " A really nice bartender came back and started talking with us about baseball because we were coming from a spring training game. After waiting longer and still no sign our server was going to come back in a timely manner, I told my husband, that I would rather leave now and not let this server ruin our experience. There are plenty of places around that I would rather give my money too and they will treat us better. We left, on our way out we did let a manager know. They did apologized and asked where we were sitting. Two stars for the nice female bartender that was decked out in St. Patrick's day attire upstairs. For our last dinner in Glendale, we visited the Thirsty Lion. It was a pleasant surprise that they had a happy hour 7 days a week. I had the Hibiscus Vodka Breeze and Hubby had the Spicy Mango Margarita. Both made well. We shared the Grilled Steak Salad, Grilled Burger Sliders, California Roll, and Ahi Poke Stack. The customer service that Sean gave us very much appreciated. My boyfriend and I stopped here for dinner and we are so happy that we did. Sean was so welcoming, he gave excellent food and drink recommendations! We were not disappointed with anything that we ordered. The scratch kitchen part was so new to us but did not disappoint. Each dish was made with a unique taste. We truly enjoyed everything. Sean is a bartender, but was friendly enough to be our service as well. When we arrived NONE of the servers on the roof wanted to help us. We waited about 10 mins with 3 different servers passing us not one greeted us or offered us a drink. I Loved It! This was my first trip to Thirsty Lion. For starters it is on the outskirts of Westgate, so plenty of parking is nearby. As you approach, the two-level outdoor patios stand out. Looks fun! We were here for brunch, so the place was not overly crowded. The dining area is spacious, modern and stylish. I found the brunch menu to be upscale and so much more than just pub-grub! If you're visiting for a drink, it's hard to imagine that you couldn't find exactly what you want in the very extensive drink menu. It's all there! They have a very large beer and wine menu, mixed drinks galore and many more spirits! For brunch, they had a nice virgin bar drink with Blood Orange and Ginger. The mixed drink menu is definitely adventurous! For brunch, I had the Corned Beef Hash. It had large chunks of Corned Beef, Onion, Red Pepper, Potato, Swiss Cheese and topped with a perfectly poached egg!. Yum! My wife had the Spanish Chilaquiles. She also enjoyed her meal very much! On Saturday, May 16th, we made a reservation for a party of 7 at 5:30 pm. None of us in our party had been to the Thirsty Lion, so we were interested in sampling their advertised Restaurant Week (RW) menu. As the first to arrive within our group, we were seated, and our waiter provided menus and explained the Happy Hour menu. We asked about the Restaurant Week menu, and he said we don't have that menu tonight. He went to confirm that the Thirsty Liar, oops, Lion, would not have a special menu because there was "an event" at Westgate that evening. With the rest of our group arriving, my husband stepped away and explained the situation to them, and we decided to leave since we had come to sample the Restaurant Week menu. After leaving Thirsty Lion, another member of our dinner party sent an email/review to the Restaurant Week contact. He received an immediate response from someone who coordinates this event. In the response, he was told that all restaurants that participate in RW must commit to the full ten days and that he would contact the Thirsty Lion manager. We found another location for dinner and learned that Thirsty Lion cannot honor any commitments they make to the general public. For those who like Thirsty Lion, this review is not meant to change your mind; it is simply about calling out a restaurant that blatantly lied and lacked the courtesy to bring out a manager to address the situation. During the cooler months, it's probably lots of fun with a group of friends! There are TV screens all around and music videos, etc. Service was friendly but a little slow and forgetful. I had a cocktail that was tasty! We ordered their crispy cauliflower but it was not crunchy at all. While it was fantastic flavor, it needed the crunch and needed more cook time! Also had their Korean fried rice that was GREAT! I would definitely recommend that dish! Hubs had the turkey club and said it was just "OK." Decent first experience at this new Thirsty Lion location. We went on a Monday night expecting it to be busy since it's Westgate, but it was actually really quiet. We were seated immediately but ending up asking to change tables as the booth we were seated at first had an extremely bright spotlight which was annoying. Service was good. Our waitress was friendly. The appetizer came out really quickly but the rest of the food seemed to take a while to come out. No complaints with the food. We started with an order of Crispy Calamari. Then for mains we got the Gastropub Burger and Gochujang BBQ Pork & Kimchi Fried Rice. Both were great. I can see this spot getting really busy during an event night but the upstairs patio looks really nice and they have a ton of space, so I think they'll do well here. First time trying this restaurant. Initially told there was a 45-60 minute wait. While waiting, 2 females walked in and were told it was an hour wait. The server in the photo above went up to the females, gave one a hug and had the front desk person seat them right away. I asked the front desk person why they were seated right away, when I clearly heard they didn't have reservations. She stated they were his family and he decided to seat them. I asked for the manager, who took over an hour to speak to my table. We were eventually sat down and ordered food for 4. The food was good and our server Annabelle was great. The unprofessionalism from the staff is unacceptable. The manager relayed the same information regarding the two females being family of the bald server.
