The country fried steak had gravy that resembled really really thick pudding it was gelatinous. The fried baby okra tasted likes earthy mucus The pinto beans were microwaved that certain bits of them were gummy like tootsie rolls. Nevertheless, Shakira provided excellent, friendly service, and the Friday fish fry special is always a welcome treat. After a long day of travel, we stopped in for some comfort food and were happy to be seated promptly. We all know that it often takes a while to get a table, and it's usually worth the wait. The hostess seated us at a table by the window, per our request and we waited for our server to come and get our drink order. We watched, as they seated two tables after us, get their drink orders. We were still waiting to be acknowledged. There were several different servers coming in and out of the kitchen looking in our direction, but still we waited. Finally, the hostess walked by, and we figured we would get served. NOPE! At this point, we had had enough and got up to leave. Pancakes not good at all. First oof, they were cooked on a "dirty grill" meaning every food that needs to go on a grill the pancakes tasted like them greasy, burnt not like a pancake should taste. Cracker barrel claims " Breakfast all day!" I love CB - it's my favorite comfort food! We haven't been to the Harrisburg location in a while, so we stopped in Wednesday night around 5:30. We were sat pretty quickly, but the two hostesses didn't know what was going on/who was doing what. We waited at least 5 minutes to be greeted by our very friendly server. At least 10 mins went by before we received our drinks. She passed our table several times and finally said, "oh my gosh. I forgot your drinks. I'm so sorry". I waited tables, I get it. We waited for forever for food. Tables sat after us were getting theirs and other servers were standing around, staring at the tables. We hadn't seen our server in at least 15 mins. We ordered premade entrees - chicken and dumplings and meatloaf. So we continued to wait. When our food came out, it was lukewarm - but not cold (I would have sent it back if it were cold). I believe our food sat there while all the other servers stood around. Again, I've waited tables and we were always required to run other servers food. We ordered our food & drinks. Waitress brought the drinks - coffee, orange juice, half & half for drinks. Didn't see her again for another 47 minutes. Keep in mind, my mother ordered a coffee. Waitress didn't even come back to the table to ask if we needed a refill or even to inform us they were short staffed in the kitchen. Entrees: #1: Ordered 3 eggs scrambled hard with American cheese, bacon, fried catfish & cheese grits. Eggs were cold, not scrambled & not fully cooked. Cheese grits were cold and soupy. Fried catfish & bacon was the only good thing on the plate. #2: ordered 2 scrambled eggs, sausage patty and wheat toast. Eggs weren't scrambled and they had cheese. Waitress did ask and was told no cheese. Food was cold. Toast was the only thing she liked. #3: ordered 2 scrambled eggs with American cheese , sausage patty & pancakes. Eggs were cold. Friends, we stopped in for dinner last evening at Cracker Barrel in Harrisburg. My wife and I ordered the special. Thursday's special was sliced turkey, sweet potatoes and stuffing. While the menu picture lured us in, take a look at the plate presentation that came out. This has the eye appeal of a Nursing home thanksgiving dinner! The turkey tasted great, but the sweet potatoes had the consistency of a thin milkshake with a few lumps. Then we have the stuffing, these were like dry cubes with their only salvation being the gravy. I mentioned how terrible the stuffing tasted and the consistency of the sweet potatoes. Our server mentioned that she didn't care for the stuffing either. When I paid the bill the clerk asked how my dinner was. I told him it was terrible and it was the worst that I've ever had a Cracker Barrel. He apologized and continued to take my money. This is not the Cracker Barrel of years ago, this is a chain that's lost its direction. I hesitate leaving comments like this, but this is the fourth time, at different locations that I've had a bad experience, and no one really cared to address it.. Got their Easter family meal. Ham was delicious. Didn't use the glaze provided. Green beans were ok. Not sure if they were supposed to come with seasoning, but had to season them myself. Mac and cheese was pretty good. Instructions for carrots were wrong. Do NOT add water like the recipe calls for (butter sauce and brown sugar provided). Mashed potatoes were home made and delicious! I come here mostly with my mom bc she loves it. I have to say that i have never had a bad meal here. It's got a cute, cozy county feel and the fireplace adds a nice touch. The servers are always friendly and super attentive when we have our littles in tow. We have gotten food to go at my job and the orders are always correct and packaged very well. They even remember free add-ons that a coworker requested such as honey, butter & pickle ranch. Overall it's a pretty good value. Having the option of breakfast all day is also a plus. Cracker Barrel is always a must on any road trip. My boyfriend and I hit up this location before driving back to Long Island. We were told it would be about a 30-35 minute wait, but we were sat in about 20 minutes. I did not take any pictures, so phone did not eat first this time. Everything was delicious as always. I had grandpa's country fried breakfast. The chicken fried chicken was delicious and I love that sausage gravy! Oh and biscuits...perfection. Had a nice breakfast here. Server McKayla was excellent. Both my son and I were tired of a long road trip. He had his usual hamburger, while I did the French toast and bacon. All was pretty good. I think Cracker Barrel gets consideration for its consistency. Parking here wasn't fun. It took too much time to find a spot. Also I understand that inflation is for real, but they seem to have increased their prices substantially. I used to put them as a "great value" category, but cannot do that anymore. 1. Insufficient Handicapped Parking. There were empty spaces in the pick-up/delivery section but all placarded spaces were taken on a Saturday morning. There were maybe seven, but they need more. 2. 25-minute wait became 40 because of staffing issues. The servers were also bussing. A few idle employees were looking for things to do near the end of our visit while many people were waiting on many empty tables. 3. We ordered standard fare and waited 30-35 minutes for it to be brought out to us. 4. Our server was great. The servers tried their best to keep things moving with a smile. 5. The waiting area was overstuffed with merch. When you don't have seating for dozens of waiting customers, they block the merch. When they block the merch, what's the point of putting it out there? 6. I was wearing a mask and walking with a cane so the waiting area sucked beyond the telling of it. It's cold outside and those awesome rockers don't have the same appeal as on a summer evening. 7. The food was not so amazing to justify the weight. By the time we got it, our first meal of the day was just fuel. Their French toast is French toast. Eggs are eggs. Sausage is sausage. An hour and a half of sitting and standing make Waffle House and IHOP seem preferable. read more

The service was great & friendly. Walking around the store where they have all kinds of chocolate, candy, & other tasty treats means you should eat before browsing the store. They even have clothing items as well as holiday gifts. Stopped by randomly for a late breakfast on Sunday knowing the wait was going to be a bit. Checked in online just to get our name on the list and when I checked in with the hostess, a blond woman with glasses, she just snipped at me. "Oh I see you checked in within the last 5 min online. Next time just come to us directly if you're already here cause the online system isn't up to date." Ok if the online system isn't the same as the instore why have it? We looked around the gift shop which is cute but crowded and our name was called over the PA after about 15 min. Again the same hostess snipped at me "Oh well since you checked in ONLINE (she said sarcastically) we texted you 10 min ago. I just used the PA system as a final courtesy before we deleted your name off the list." I never got a text... We were seated and our server was Brandon. We ordered waters and a coffee. Mom got pancakes, eggs and bacon and I got the sticky bun pie with eggs, hashbrown casserole and sausage patties. Waited a good 15 min before Brandon said he forgot our waters which took another 10 min to get along with my coffee. Food arrived shortly after but was luke warm to cold. We were too hungry to care at this point so we just ate it and left. Not sure why this location seems to drop the ball so much. Service was very slow even had to wait awhile to be seated. Waitress had to be new just on how are whole experience was here. My meal was the special.
