We came to have a late lunch. Was seated around 1:41pm. Took 15 minutes for our server to even ask if we wanted drinks. Gave our order, along with the drinks. Food came back cold at 2:33. Almost 1 hr. People around us where seated after us and received there food way before us. The manager took to food back, said he will handle it. Half of our food came back bairly warm. The cheese on my sons burgers was not melted at all. He said the meal was on the house, but its extremely disappointing when I really love cracker barrels food. I always tip very well because I was a server before. I hate bad customer service. Who wants to go out to eat and get cold food? And get looked down on because we say something? Cracker Barrel is unsurpassed! On our way to Lancaster, we stopped here two days in a row! We had pot roast and fried chicken dinners which were just perfection! We were served by Nanci the first night and by Maureen the second night. They were polite and caring and efficient. Our food arrived quickly and was just delicious. Anything you get here is well worth the money. Covid precautions are followed. Everything is clean! Bonnie took reservations at the front of the restaurant. She was kind and caring as well. Cracker Barrel is fantastic no matter where you go. You have to expect some staggered seating cause of the amount of people waiting. We waited for notification by text when our table was ready. My family and I have love Cracker Barrel, and we've been to about a dozen or so different ones around the Northeast, but this was the first time we had a bad experience. We went around 8:30 on a Thursday night, well after the dinner rush, so we were pretty annoyed that our food took almost 40 minutes to come out, and only after we asked the waitress to check on it. The gravy on our dinner had that glaze that food gets when it's been sitting under a heat lamp for too long, and since it was far from hot, we knew that must have been the case. About 30 seconds after someone else brought our food out, the waitress came over and put the check down on our table. I guess we're not allowed to order dessert or another soda? We're usually overgenerous tippers, but between that and her overall unfriendly attitude, she got 15%. Apparently a few other tables had a similar experience because a woman from a table in our room was fighting with the manager about something the waitress did to them, and another pissed off couple complained about their food to one of the cashiers. Make no mistake, I'm not about to stop eating at Cracker Barrel over one bad experience, but if this had been my first time, it probably would have been my last. read more

After we were seated we waited at least 15 minutes and nobody came to the table. The table behind us that was seated after us was greeted, got their drinks and order in this time. No less than 5 employees walked past our table totally ignoring us. We asked to see a manager and explained it to him. He took our drink order and left. A member of the waitstaff came to the table after that and asked if we were ready, I told her she may want to talk to the manager, after that she totally ignored us. When the manager brought our drinks, he took our order. The brought the food out and left. After he left we discovered that he had not brought the gravy for the biscuits or the grits. We are very displeased with our visit to Cracker Barrel at the Rockvale Outlets tonight. This is normally a favorite place to eat but the service was exceptionally slow. Beyond that though, we were seated at a table that had a clear view to the kitchen. We were EXTREMELY upset to see that the two cooks/chefs were NOT WEARING MASKS. Or maybe I should say not wearing them properly - they were down below their chins. All the wait staff had masks on and there was a sign on the entrance door saying masks were required, but yet the two people who were preparing everyone's meals were not properly masked!!! My first time at Cracker Barrel and wow was I disappointed. I would give it negative stars if possible. I ordered the breakfast item that was two eggs on toasted sourdough bread, tomatoes with mayonnaise and fried apples. Asked for no Mayo, which was done correctly. However, I think my food sat on a counter for a long time, waiting to be delivered to my table, because my scrambled eggs were cold, the toast was barely toasted, more like soggy bread, and the tomatoes tasted old and just about gone bad. I ordered a side of bacon, which was delicious, as was the fresh fruit I ordered. The fried apples were OK, not something I would cross the street for. I gave them to my friend to eat. If I ever have to go back there (it is close to the outlets where I shop with friends), I will know to order just fruit, plus bacon and toast to make my own sandwich, and will send back the toast if it is raw or soggy. Except for the bacon and fresh fruit, I wasted my money on this meal. Plus the service was slow and indifferent. Probably the worst meal experience of my adult life. read more

Another mediocre experience at yet another Cracker Barrel. The staff was disorganized at best. The floors were slick with grease or some other substance that trailed out of the kitchen all over the floor. The section they seated us in smelled like stale dish water. My food was good, my boyfriend's was luke warm, even the applesauce, which i would assume should have been cold. Our server could have used some help ,she was definitely in over her head, especially once they sat the part of 8 right next to us. Every server and bus person that walked by my chair kicked it or walked into it, making for a rather disruptive meal. The check out line was so long we were standing in the middle of everyone waiting to be seated, in everyone's way. Unless you like Cracker Barrel... And I mean to the point where you're willing to wait forever and a day just to be waited on, forget this place. Not going to take anything away from the food mind you. Its still the good old fashioned hot meal that you would expect to get. But the waiting... Omg the waiting. Sure we got seated right away. No need for that hanging around waiting for our name to be called out on the loud speaker. We got a table right away. The hostess sat us down right away. But then, what came next could only be described as the "Long ass wait". It was so bad that Paul was starting to look up other places in the area. We have never got up and left from a restaurant, but we were very close this time. When we finally did see our waitress, she was plessant and took our food orders. We got our drinks pretty promptly. Food also took forever to be brought out. Paul ordered bacon and got sausage. I ordered fried apples that needed to be requested a second time. As I said before, there was nothing wrong with the food. Just the waiting was crazy. And don't tell me that it was because they were busy. Cracker Barrel is always busy. If you can't say anything good say nothing. I really try to pull something good out of every place I go. Ok we were seated immediately, and the food was good. I was dissappointed with this location. I have eating at Cracker Barrel for years now and service has been constiatnt accross the board. However this lancaster location takes the cake. Serve was very slow, I think the hostess was the only one working every one else was bickering. I guess they are short staff. I spilled my drink and it took about 15 minutes to get it cleaned up and another 15 min to get a new drink. I think this location could use more staff. I have to give a shoutout to Octavia, our server the day we ate at this location. She was so fast, so kind, and so attentive to us. I had asked for my bacon to be soft, and when she brought us our food it was still a little to crispy for my liking. I wasn't going to complain or ask for more, I had plenty of other food. I passed the bacon to my boyfriend and Octavia must have noticed because not even 2 minutes later and she brought me a plate of bacon and said, "you could've told me it wasn't done how you like it!" How sweet is that??? She was awesome, the food was delicious as always. I don't usually review chain restaurants but Octavia made enough of an impact that I had to share! read more

I took my parents for supper on Monday about 4pm. Sadly, like most places, staffing is an issue. Only about 1/3 of the restaurant was open. Bonnie at check in was very sweet and helpful. Somehow I spent 60 dollars in the gift shop. What did I by? Beats the hell outta me, but I bet it was worth it. This restaurant was a God send. On our way back from a family trip, my folks noted the correlation between filling my nephews stomachs with a LOT of food and them taking naps in the car, so we decided to get a big breakfast before we got on the road. Man, they know how to feed you in PA. On the cheap tip, too. And since its loud, no one noticed the noise coming from our table - they also have stuff for kids to play with and draw on at the table. How was the food? Oh, it was good. It didn't really sit well with me, but I think thats because I generally eat cereal for breakfast, not eggs over easy with some cheesy hash brown thing and grits and biscuits and gravy and bacon....sheesh..l can't imagine why there's an obesity issue in this country. One of my favorite chains to eat at when anywhere in PA or south. Cracker Barrel is consistent in providing quality food with friendly service. The menu is decently sized and the portions are a great value. Cracker Barrel gives you a taste of southern cooking, but also offers traditional 'American' favorites, sure to please all. This location has the old country store attached which has some interesting things good for the home or to give as gifts. There are also beautiful rocking chairs outside that you will just want to take home. While it is just off of Route 30 and can get crowded around the dinner and lunch hours, there is plenty of seating and the lines move fast. Parking lot in front. read more

A large part of me is very disappointed we don't have Cracker Barrel in NY. The services are enormous at great prices and usually delicious. Service is fantastic more often than it's not. Why don't we have these? The only redeeming factor of us not having them is if I ate here as often as I'd like to I'd weigh much more than I already do. Bloomberg would NOT approve of the size of these portions, but my belly does :) We come here every time we end up in Lancaster PA and are never disappointed. I go for the breakfast platter called the "Sunrise Sampler." It has two eggs any way you want, biscuits, this white stuff called "gravy," a sausage patty, a piece of bacon, a piece of ham, a side of apples and grits. Wow. It's every bit as filling as it sounds. Being from New York, I skip the gravy, and have them hold the grits and just hook me up with more biscuits. They happily oblige and will also bring apple butter upon request. It's not the best apple butter I've ever had, but it's the only time I've had apple butter at a restaurant so that's a huge plus. Chain haters beware, the sheer assortment of noshables featuring pig products makes me a four-star fan. Cream gravy with biscuits or grits, hash-brown casserole, snappy vinegary greens, fried okra, .... I don't care if it is corporate, it gets my love. Heck, they've even got broiled catfish for when I'm feeling less inclined to smother my arteries in bacon grease. CB also gets major points for the number of times I've used it to work from while in Lancaster on business. Sit in the back corner with an unlimited cup of coffee, nicely paced wifi, the occasional visit from a server and their lilting Central PA accent, and you and I might just be sharing a desk "a while". The staff is friendly and there usually isn't a wait because they are good about opening up their extra sections for overflow. When it comes to service it's hit or miss. Some servers are better than others but you'll get that anywhere you go. Overall this location is a good place to have a meal. read more

If zero stars could be given this would be the greater truth to the review. The Lancaster division of Cracker Barrel has some very rude greeters and table setters. They will yell at other employees and act rude. Also it seems that this division is also lacking in employees since on a day that normally would be known in the industry as a busy night they only have half of the tables open. They ever seem to allow multi sittings of party's that are 2-4 seats but end up forcing larger table seating of 5+ to wait for 45 - 75 minutes while they know there are open tables. The only reason this this post has two stars is that Megan; a "two star" server is more hospitable and kinder then most of the staff and greatly improved what has started as a terrible night out. read more

Cracker Barrel is good for on the road food. This location is always very busy. Service is ok not great. And I am not a fan of the new drill where you ask for a table right when you come in the door. That causes a back up and they were not transfering the information correctly. Bottom line is this is better than McDs when traveling but I would not go out of my way to go there otherwise. read more

My first time at a Cracker Barrel and it was so nice we ate here twice. Well, the second time wasn't by choice for me. My Mom got so hooked on their stupid small but apparently delicious chicken tenderloins that she made me come back the next day for dinner again. I didn't dare suggest any of the places I had lined up for us to go to (like Dienner's Country Restaurant or Oregon Dairy Country Restaurant) for fear she would complain that we should have just went to Cracker Barrel. Place is mad cheap - can't remember the last time I paid $35 for dinner for two in NJ and here I paid that for three people! plus dessert! (listen up, that pumpkin custard with gingerbread cookie crumble = off the hook!) Food: Like your long lost Grandmother stepped into her country kitchen and cooked up a feast for you. Still puzzled how a chain is able to make the food taste so homemade. Had the catfish the first night and the haddock the next. Both were cooked spot on. We had 9 sides between us so the table was full of small plates that we shared and sampled - my favorite would have to be the hash-brown casserole. Gift shop was a great place to browse while we waited for a table. Kinda wish we had one closer. Curious about their breakfast. read more

I've enjoyed Cracker Barrel many times, in many locations over the years. This particular one used to be pretty good, but things have changed immensely. Today my husband, 2 year old and myself went for breakfast. Shockingly, there was no wait to sit, which is highly unusual for a Sunday morning. I had checked in on the app prior to arriving to verify we would have little to no wait due to our 2 year old not having the patience to wait a long time. After being seated, our waiter was quick to ask for our drink order and upon returning with our drinks, we ordered our food. We all got scrambled eggs, one order of bacon, one order of French toast and 3 orders of the hash brown casserole. It took nearly an hour to get our food and the place was not even packed. There were at least 6 empty tables within my view. We were not even offered biscuits until 40 min. of waiting and at that time our server said it would be a few minutes before our food would be out and it ended up being another 20 minutes. Our server was pleasant, but we also waited a while for drink refills and when my husband asked for a water he never go it. When we finally did receive our food, it was warm and tasted ok, but was not the quality that I always loved about Cracker Barrel. We had not been to this Cracker Barrel in about a year because the last time we were here we waited 1 1/2 hours for our food after waiting an hour to be seated. I understand this isn't a fast food place, but waiting that long to receive your food after ordering is not acceptable, especially when it is not busy. read more

Waited for 20 minutes, which was their estimate. The place was packed. The wait was fine, but the extremely dysfunctional system they have was horrific. The hostess' were arguing/complaining about the servers and vice versa. Our waiter was nice, but he was the exception. Everyone besides him that worked there had a huge attitude, as if our being there was an issue. Food was cold, our "over easy" eggs were simply fried. Grits had no flavor, and all our meat was over cooked. The sausage patty could be used as a hockey puck, the bacon was more like jerky and the apples were borderline inedible. Well, unfortunately, I do have to make an update here, and its not a good one. This morning, I went out for breakfast there again, I got the, I guess it was the double meat breakfast, it has bacon, sausage, eggs, grits and biscuits with their sawmill gravy. Well, it was good, but the sausage patties tasted off a bit. As well, I wasn't offered a refill on my drink. Well, an hour later, I started feeling sick in the stomach, I think it might have been the sausage. So I dunno if I'm gonna return to this location yet. At 3PM on Saturday, this location was busy. It took 20 minutes for our order to be taken. But once that went in, timing was perfect. Wife had a side salad with steak and potato (she subbed turnip greens for potato) and this side salad was much bigger than the usual you get with entree and three sides. Her steak was done to perfection, and I sampled it, and concur. I had the fried in cornmeal catfish and it also was tops. Sides were steak fries, cole slaw, and green beans. I had the country fried steak and the cheese grits (needs a bit more flavor) our server was nice and friendly always there to ask if we needed anything (almost stalkerish) really enjoy the country store while we waited for our table. I had fond memory of Cracker Barrel from a few years ago. The place takes me back to childhood and into the candy store with a galore of taffies and chocolates that'll make my 10yo self chuckle and do skips. Remember WHACHAMACALLIT? Heaven. Fast forward to present time: the happy store is still there and the biscuits are as good as I remember. Service was genial. The servings are humungous. Their cheese hash was delicious. Unfortunately, I didn't like how they scrambled their eggs- it's beaten but pan-fried and folded over...and I little overcooked. The sausage and bacon was a little dry.
