Cracker Barrel Old Country offers a pretty solid breakfast. The service here was friendly and outgoing and like most Cracker Barrel Old County Stores (if not all), it has an interesting abd pleasant ambiance. Don't miss on the hash brown casserole. For me, that is a must. I also enjoy walking through the country store part and often have found something to purchase. I would definitely recommend a visit here.

When I first came to Madison, I did not know what to expect from the long time American restaurant chain. Walking through their front doors and into their lobby, you are met with really cute American classic decor with endless shelves of seasonal retail. There's literally something for everyone and you can tell how proud this restaurant brand has grown with every generation. It's adorable in there. Check it out! I frequent this location often. Everyone working is doing their best. Of course there are a few hiccups from time to time but nothing that they do not own and make up for with great service. Food is always delicious. Don't pass up the home style fried chicken! That is some of the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life. I come from California and I have had my fair share of fried chicken from every cuisine that offers it. Cracker Barrel's fried chicken for the price point is something you can't beat. After 5pm, service can be a little bit slower but I think people forget that dinner takes just a little longer to prepare than breakfast does. Overall, this location is a solid repeat restaurant that my husband and I look forward to visiting.

Good food and great service. Reliable comfort food with new twists on the menu including cocktails use the app for bonuses. Usual CB ambiance here.

Workers were stressed but the place was empty?

There was so much going on in the restaurant that I don't even know how to process. There was no host when we arrived, but once they came we were sat. Every worker seemed so panicked and I thought there were so many customers but the place was almost dead. The food was okay, it seemed a bit off. I ordered the country fried steak and they forgot my gravy. At least the service was fast. Every worker just seemed out of sorts and I don't really know why. I also think I got a stomach bug from here.

Most of the wait staff was wearing very tattered clothing and the worst offender was the bus boy. Although he was working his tail off, he looked like he hadn't showed in several days and hadn't washed his clothes in a week. His bus tub was disgusting. As he was cleaning the table beside us, he put the tub in the table top and as I turned my head to look over I lost my appetite seeing the condition of the tub. To know that he put it on top of the table made me even more disgusted. Not only was he bussing tables but he was also taking plates of food to tables. I, personally, would not have accepted food from him because it's very unlikely he washed his hands after cleaning tables off. Our waiter was nice but he looked very sloppy. I realize I'm not at a white table cloth restaurant but at least make sure the serve staff looks presentable. We won't be back.

The restaurant sits just a stone's throw from the ballpark where the Rocket City Trash Pandas play, so the whole place already has a fun, lively atmosphere before you even sit down. Now given the name "Prohibition," I half expected someone to knock on the door and ask for a secret password like it was 1927. Back in those days, enjoying a drink required secrecy, dim lights, and maybe a jazz band playing in the corner. Today, things are a little easier... though for this non-drinker, my order was simple: water on the rocks, hold the lemon. I prefer my water about 100 proof for maximum flavor. My boss and coworker grabbed seats at the bar while we looked over the menu. We kicked things off with the Pork Belly Burnt Ends and the Pork Bao Buns. Let me tell you, those Pork Belly Burnt Ends were an absolute masterpiece. They came out crisp and seasoned just right with a little spicy kick. Served with raw carrots, homemade pickles, and lettuce wraps to bundle those little jewels together--downright tasty. If food had a Hall of Fame, these would already have a plaque on the wall. The Pork Bao Buns were good as well, but they simply couldn't match the grand slam the Pork Belly Burnt Ends delivered. For my main course, I ordered the Smoked Wangs with the Jala Mango seasoning and a side salad. The wings were delicious--cooked and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was solid. No bootlegging required. Prohibition definitely hit it out of the park today. Between the great food, the great service, and the fun atmosphere near the ballpark, this place is a must-stop for locals or anyone just passing through Madison. Our waitress tried pretty hard to convince us to order dessert, so I'm guessing their sweets are just as flavorful as everything else on the menu. The only problem I had today? I couldn't finish my meal. I was absolutely stuffed. If this had been the 1920s, the only crime committed here would've been leaving food on the plate. Great food. Great service. I'll gladly return--though next time I may need a little more room in the stomach.

This restaurant is across the street from the fairly popular Francesco's Italian restaurant. Having been there before, I didn't have any troubles locating this place. The parking lot is a little rugged in spots but at least there's plenty of space. The inside is a little sparse but there's ample seating and some kind of cool drawings hanging on the walls. A portrait of who I can only assume to be Minnie Lee is near the entrance. Food is served cafeteria style by some very nice people. Seriously, the service was so warm and sweet. We felt very welcomed there. We both decided on fried chicken for lunch. My mom got the last breast from the batch so I wound up with a thigh, which isn't my favorite piece but I still like it okay. You can have more than two sides if you wish, but we didn't. I chose yams and fried potatoes as mine, while my mom got yams and cabbage. Note that their cabbage is cooked with sausage. For bread, they offered standard cornbread muffins or hot water cornbread, which the friendly staff recommended (good choice!). We both opted for sweet tea to drink. I'm not sure of the price because of course my mom snuck in and paid for both of our meals before I could notice! Lol. We found a clean booth and dug in quickly. Overall, the food was pretty good! This isn't necessarily a new favorite soul food place for me, but I'd definitely come back. The best item was honestly the cabbage! My mom let me taste a bite. So flavorful and perfect texture. This is real, southern-style cabbage (which is to say, probably not great for you...but quite tasty!). The hot water cornbread was also really good. It's different than the hot water cornbread I've had in the past; this version was very crispy on the outside with super soft, almost gooey, corny inside. It was yummy. The yams were also solid! Not the best I've ever had (flavor kind of one-note), but they were sweet and soft. The fried potatoes and fried chicken were both just okay. The fried potatoes weren't super hot or crispy, but the added flavor from the onions was nice. The fried chicken's breading was crispy and flavorful enough, but the meat, even on the thigh, was a bit dry. Neither were bad, but if I return in the future, I'd probably try something else first. We were too full for dessert, but they had pecan pie and banana pudding on display. Overall, lovely service and tasty food make this a solid option in the area.

This seemed to want to be a foodie destination. The half, fried chicken included a small drumstick, small wing, piece of breast, and another piece that was unidentifiable but might have been a thigh. It had a spicy sweet sauce covering, which we opted to have on the side. That was a good choice because the hint of cayenne was still too much for one diner. We asked about the slaw -- whether it had a cream or vinegar dressing. The server described it as a "creamy vinegar." It made no difference because the dressing was so understated that the side tasted more like chopped cabbage than anything else. Disappointing. Finally, I asked the server whether the grilled green beans were actually that. I was more curious than anything else because grilled green beans would take longer to cook. She said yes, they were grilled. I don't think so. They came out fairly quickly and were pretty universally blackened all over like they were cooked in a skillet. Once our food was delivered, we never saw our server again until I asked for the check. So, what I believe was intended to be an elevated dining experience was simply under executed.
