I have to say hands down this is one of my absolute favorite places to go for a great home cooked meal like I used to have growing up. I have never had any issues with the staff because they honestly show you how the southern charm is and you can tell that it comes naturally for them as well. I love the way the restaurant seating area is, very calm, clean, and simple...I know a,lot of people nowadays prefer the whole flashy, more expensive decor and feel, simply because somehow the world has changed into the idea and lifestyle of "enough is NEVER enough"l so if you love the old ways as much as I do then you have to go by Mia's Cafe, I promise you won't regret it. Really more like a 3.5 because I don't have any huge complaints, but I also probably wouldn't go out of my way to return here and so that makes it more comfortably in the realm of a 3 than a 4 for me. Came here after a doctor's appointment at around 11 on a Monday. There's not a ton of parking and the location is a little nondescript. I walked into a dimly lit but spacious setup. It's a little shopworn inside but seems clean enough. I was instructed to seat myself where I liked. The restaurant wasn't super crowded but the acoustics are such that sound carries and it was a little loud. I took a booth that wound up having a very uncomfy cushion, but I didn't want to confuse the staff by moving so I dealt with it. A waiter came by soon to drop off a menu. They serve breakfast all day and have some plate lunches. A lot of reviewers complained about the lunch options seeming canned or just not as fresh, so I decided I'd do a late breakfast/breakfast for lunch to ensure I got fresh food. They do a cake and eggs special that comes with scrambled eggs and pancakes. I got that with hash browns and bacon and a sweet tea to drink. The prices are reasonable here. My food came out to me quickly but not so quickly it didn't seem fresh. Overall, it was decent! My sweet tea wasn't super flavorful but it was thirst quenching. I think the best things were probably the pancakes; they weren't standout but just simple cakes cooked well and served hot. The scrambled eggs were fine too, though I wished for a little salsa or hot sauce to put on them. Hash browns were standard; a little under-crispy for me beneath the very crispy top, but I like them practically crunchy. One thing that was VERY crunchy was the bacon. I like my bacon cooked pretty well, but this was beyond that; I don't think I even finished it because it was just so crispy and hard. That was the low point. Again, nothing was really bad but simultaneously nothing really stood out, and given how far away from me this restaurant is I doubt I'll make a special trip. One thing that did stand out to me was a few dishes like chilaquiles and burritos on the menu. I noticed the wait staff were all speaking to each other in Spanish. I wonder if I missed out on the good stuff? Might be worth a try. If you're in the area, this'll do for a fast and adequately prepared local breakfast. read more

I got my dad some takeout from here for his lunch, and yes I stole a few bites. I can't comment on the ambiance/service, but here are my observations: - If you're going to charge me $.50 for a piece of cornbread, don't forget to include it. (Particularly when you HAVE to pay either $.50 for a cornbread piece or roll--there is no opting out.) - The chicken and dumplings were inedible. Also a tiny portion, but since they were inedible that's okay. - Mashed potatoes DID seem homemade, but the gravy seemed straight from Sysco. - Green beans had some pork in them (yay!) and weren't horrible. - I refuse to eat boiled cabbage, but dad liked it okay. - The lemon pie came straight out of a box, but it was edible. For $5, however, the portion was laughably small. Breakfast seems to be where this place shines, likely because more has to be made to order. I wouldn't go back for lunch, however. Mia's is my favorite take out. It is always hot, packed well, and good portions. I really like their plate lunches. The rotating menu of daily specials is especially comforting for my picky appetite. When I have eaten there in person you are not just a table you are ushered into the ambiance of just folks here doing our thing and that is particularly welcoming. No I do NOT recommend it anymore. While the owner is very nice, I was over charged, and as you can PLAINLY SEE from their own menu. There are any number of wonderful places to eat in and around Madison, Huntsville, Athens etc- I do NOT have to be treated so disrespectfully. Instead of the increase in cost of $2 to add bacon or country ham- I was charged $3.50 for coffee, $4 for bacon, $4 for hashbrown casserole on TOP of the regular meal!!! It is the principle of the thing!! Those prices were NOT listed, instead of being included in the price of the meal as stated ON THEIR MENU it was an $11.50 ADDITIONAL COST. Found this little tucked away cafe located in a retail area when I moved to Huntsville in 2022. It has become a go to for us on Sunday afternoons because they have lunch and also serve breakfast all day. The staff waitresses / waiters are so nice and hard working. Had some time to kill on a Friday morning before a doctors appointment. I had never been to Mia's and was in the area. Server: Andres, a pleasure to have met him. Wonderful personality. The restaurant has a certain charm about it. Several tables of little old men chatting and scheming. An old married couple that looks as if this is this is their routine place for Friday. The smell of coffee, clanking of cooking utensils hitting the cook top, and the soft hum of one big collective conversation underscored by classic Christmas music. I wasn't particularly hungry so I kept it simple with a BLT and Hash browns w/ onion and cheese. The hash browns turned out to be the star of the plate. A perfect crunch on the outside and a nice soft texture in the middle. Perfect southern Sunday morning breakfast on a Friday. The onions weren't over-powering and the cheese even had a noticeably good flavor. Owner: head chef, and he's not afraid to come out of the kitchen to say hello to his regulars. The owner used to run the entire cafe, but now he's in the kitchen and he wants it to stay that way There's something to be said about a place where the owner is on the grill. It means means that you're bound to have something that was made with love because you have to love to be on the grill. It's just a hard place to work, but as the owner it also gives you a greater measure of Quality Control. They are closed on Monday (I would be too if it were me) and they close after lunch. read more

The food is great. This place is very affordable. The cheesy hashbrowns are my favorite. The inside is relaxing and evenly paced with a friendly staff and fine service. I should have taken a photo of the food but I mean the fact that I ate it before I could says enough. I'd recommend the cake platter, its got pancakes, bacon, eggs, and some hashbrowns. 12/10, WOULD'NT tell family and friends purely to keep this lovely place to myself. They were busy. Long wait for food was understandably. But when a customer orders coffee for breakfast, it's gonna need to be refilled and not only once they are halfway done with their meal after they finished the first cup while still waiting on their order. Also, when they get a refill on coffee if the creamers are out they are going to need more. I always tip even when I feel the service was poor(10%min usually), I'm just not as generous as I am when the service is good(15-25%). At checkout, the tip line auto filled (and zeroed???). Cashier was clueless when asked about it. Only had one single on me, so c'est la vie. Food tasted good. But, I ordered the eggs benedict, one egg was runny and the order cooked hard. No consistency. Having grown up eating a meat and three , you can imagine my excitement to find one on county line rd. I went in with great expectations and left with great disappointment. The staff was friendly and provided great service but the food .... I had the chicken fried steak, which was not bad, but the corn , green beans and mashed potatoes were definitely not homemade. The corn and greens beans were out of a can and had zero flavoring. It is Like they opened the cans ,warmed them up and served them. Could have added some butter to the corn and maybe a little bacon bits to the green beans .. something .. mashed potatoes tasted instant... and again with no flavor. Larger than it looks on the outside, Mia's is a tidy place that serves your standard tasty breakfast. Pancakes? Yes. Eggs? Of course! Bacon? Yes sir! And country ham, grits, coffee, juice and more. I like the price structure. It's like ordering at a Thai restaurant. You order the basic breakfast and add on for the type of meat that you want. This way, if you don't want meat, you aren't paying for it. We sat down just minutes before the church crowd arrived and were glad for it because this place is popular around 10am on Sundays. We have eaten at Mia's several times before this LAST time and the food was OK. My wife and I stopped in Mia's for breakfast, but that was a big mistake. They were WAY understaffed and only had the cashier and one server working the floor, so they get some creds for that. Took a while (understandable) to get our food but when they brought our food, mine was lukewarm, my wife's was stone cold (NOT ACCEPTABLE). Gravy and biscuits HAS to be hot. My 3-egg omelette was flat and appeared to be one or two eggs, NOT fluffy at all. The coupe de grace was when I checked out, I told the cashier/server about our lackluster food and she made no attempt to make it right. None! She did apologize, but sorry is as sorry does. Stoped by Mia's cafe for some late breakfast, I went with my boyfriend who was craving some eggs Benedict. We live in Texas, but we were down here to visit some family. It was a 11min drive from the house so it was a obvious choice for us, not to mention they had GREAT reviews on their eggs Benedict. We were sat down impressively fast, and the place seemed to be busy for a Wednesday afternoon. Me and my boyfriend both got the eggs Benedict, he got his with a side of hash browns and I got mine with a side of cheesy browns. Ryan (my boyfriend) said he thought the eggs Benedict was alright, he rates them a 7 out of 10. However his side of hash browns was slightly burnt. I thought the eggs Benedict were good, I'd rate it a 7 out of 10 as well. Now my side of cheesy browns was literally DELICIOUS! Dipping them in the eggs Benedict sauce made it even better, I HIGHLY recommend trying the cheesy browns I loved them. What stood out the most to me was the impeccable service, our waiter (who's name I unfortunately forgot) was lovely. It's one of the few meat and 3 type restaurants left in the area. Fabulous service, great selections & really good food, which probably depends on what you order. I craved biscuits and gravy but had to order chicken fried steak to get it. My only complaint is the hours Mia's is open. I'm rarely in that area during their availability. That's obviously not a problem for them at breakfast. I recently accidentally left home way too early for an appointment so I arrived shortly after they opened. All seats were quickly taken in the time it took me to eat half of my meal and leave with the other half in a take out box. (Don't miss out on those crispy hash browns while they're hot.) Apparently my son liked the leftovers as that was the last I saw of the other half! The crispy chicken fried steak disappeared immediately. Their restaurant coffee was a great treat while I also drank 3 cups of ice water. Like I said ~ fabulous service! The waiter probably checked on me a half dozen times and others also made sure my water stayed full and offered more coffee several times. I was there less than 30 minutes because I couldn't eat all of it and my appointment time but never felt rushed by the staff. This is the perfect little diner. Huntsville is sorely lacking in the breakfast and lunch places category. I usually go about once a week for the cake and eggs breakfast. The food is always delicious. Perfectly fluffy pancakes, eggs cooked to order, and the hash browns always come out just the right kind of crispy. The staff is so welcoming and fun. The food comes out quick hot and ready to go. Also, Mias is very reasonably priced. I always leave satisfied and excited to go again. Stopped in to grab dinner. Mia's serves up the typical Southern meat +3. They have 3 or 4 different meats and about 10 sides every day to choose. I chose the steak, corn, mac & cheese, and mash potatoes. You get a choice of roll or corn bread. The mac & cheese was very plain and runny. The corn bread was dry. The food was average, but nothing special. The restaurant is large and located in the growing area of west Madison/Huntsville. Jesus provided good service. read more

The only thing I can really think of is that this place is just average. Home cooking style that honestly is pretty run of the mill. Portions are less than the average American size (which isn't a bad thing, but could annoy some). I had the Reuben and fries, which again, were pretty average. It tasted fine and I had no issues with it but didn't leave me craving for more. I had a cup of the chili which was really soupy and unappetizing. Tried this place on a whim and doubt I'll be back.
