I don't normally go to Cracker Barrel. The only times I've really visited there were church trips or family trips. It is not a place I consider when ordering takeout. I was gifted a gift card for Christmas so I decided to test the waters. I knew I wanted breakfast food even though I was using it for dinner. When I looked at the menu the one thing that caught my eye was the Strawberry Stuffed Cheesecake Pancakes. The menu picture was beautiful. I also got scrambled eggs and bacon. It was a takeout order and it didn't take long for the order to get ready. I arrived at the restaurant and it was raining a little. Luckily I did curbside pickup. It had stopped raining once the person came out with my order. When I got home I was very ready to eat. I can't remember what I tried first. That really doesn't matter. One thing I do remember was the minute I took my first bite of the pancakes. It was divine. That is not an overstatement. The cheesecake filling combined with the strawberries and pancakes was so delicious. They were some of the best pancakes I have had in my entire life. The only good thing about the store is the retail area. I always receive good service in the retail area and find the cutest items. Unfortunately, the restaurant area has gone downhill. I'm a breakfast food junkie, and with limited options in West Mobile I've turned to my ol' faithfuls, Cracker Barrel being one of them! I've always have great service (although I am partial to servers with 3+ stars on their aprons) and the food is "Cracker Barrel consistent" in quality. I strictly adhere to the breakfast menu, no matter the time of day. The Uncle Hershel's breakfast, granola yogurt parfait (with an extra cup of granola), and the warm biscuits (served with strawberry jam only) are my absolute faves, always! I'm thankful for the Cracker Barrels of the USA, serving great breakfast giant checkers, and rocking chair action since-- actually, I have no idea. But, cheers anyway! read more

This place was just okay. Not the best Cracker Barrel chain but not the worst. This night I was feeling like trying out their fried chicken dinner special that they have during Thanksgiving. I wasn't super happy about the meal mainly because the fried chicken was mainly just batter... and a salty batter at that. The mashed potatoes honestly had a watery texture. Southern cooking, at it's best. I don't usually frequent chains, but the Cracker Barrel got me feeling some kind of way about meatloaf, turnips, and dumplings. I eat out a lot but nothing beats comfort food and Cracker Barrel satisfied my craving for some good ol' southern cooking. They have nightly specials, favorites and serve breakfast all day. I decided to get the meatloaf. The dinner platter comes with three sides. Yep, three sides for around $10+. I chose greens, carrots, and fried okra. I couldn't decide on the third side so I chose okra for my guest. All the meals come with cornbread and/or biscuits. The meatloaf was delicious. It was a generous portion and it hit the spot. The greens, carrots, and okra paired very well with my entree and let me say both were yummy. The greens were good. I'm kinda picky with turnips and they passed the test. The carrots are a bit sweet, probably why they're called sweet whole baby carrots, and tender. My guest enjoyed the dumplings and the fresh cornbread and biscuits. Oh don't forget to ask your waiter/waitress for apple butter for the biscuits too. He said he the chicken and dumplings were the star. The dumplings had a generous portion of chicken tenders. He also chose greens and carrots. But added Mac and cheese and said he could eat another bowl. It was cheesy and creamy. I was pleasantly surprised at the Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel is my all time go to for good southern cooking whether it is breakfast or dinner. The service is always impeccable. Hubby and I were getting a late dinner and was seated. The young lady comes and take our order, she goes back to put the order in and brings our drinks back. Literally we waited about 35 minutes for them to come tell me that they did not have what I ordered and should have been alerted me to this so I could change my order. So I ordered something else, it took another 15 minutes to get that food. The wait was so long that the manager came out and apologized for the lack of promptness and offered me a free desert with my meal, usually I don't do desert at restaurants because of the richness of the deserts but hey I got this one. I ordered there Chocolate coke cake which was so decadent and good. I saved it for when I got home. All in all, when I did receive my food it was good and the service could have been better but I just chopped it up to bad communication between the cooks and the waitress. This was at the Cracker Barrel on Schillingers road, late night again (y'all know how I roll) but they were nice about everything. My family and I eat several times a month here. The server came to the table and didn't tell her name and wasn't friendly. Her apron said Shawn. We had to find her to ask for items. She didn't check on our table at all during our entire visit. The Food was overcooked, and took over 45 minutes to come out. Worse experience at Cracker Barrel ever. read more

saraland, AL: We had a trainee and her trainer for waitresses. 3 people who came in after us received their meal before us. we sat for 20 minutes with no rolls. She came and saw our glasses were empty, said the rolls were in the oven and would be out in 3 minutes. bought us our drinks. when the food finally came out, we asked for the biscuits. They were not even warm. The food was delicious except the chicken and dumplings were not seasoned. she brought us our check. the other waitress came over when we were done and we asked for a to-go box. on the way out we noticed the lid was barely attached-LOL. Just like every other Cracker Barrel. Food is good as long as you're looking for country cooking. The potato casserole is not to be missed. If you're worried about cholesterol this might not be the place for you. This restaurant has gone way down over the last three years. And it has nothing to do with COVID. If we order take out we never get our complete order, or the order is wrong. Tonight we tried to give it one more chance, we waited a hour for our food. 4 tables that came in after us got their food and we still had not gotten ours. We ask the waitress, all she said was she knew. Never offered even an apology or explanation. And they were not even busy. Oh and our table was covered in syrup. Been wanting to come to this place for the past 3 years I've come to Mobile for Thanksgiving. Finally made it in on Thanksgiving morning for breakfast with my mom. The old country store was very cozy and inviting. I loved how they made it appear as a classic, old country store. My mom was drawn and immediately went into shopping mode. I had to pull her away because I was starving at this point. The restaurant side was just as cozy. The old, warm country feeling was very inviting. My mom started to reminisce with the surroundings of when she was a kid growing up in Mobile, mentioning the butane lamps on the table tops that she used as a kid because her neighborhood didn't have power yet. Our server, Crystal B., was very polite and informative. She helped us every step of the way in ordering our breakfast as newbies. Excellent service! I ordered the egg and cheese sliders to stay on a healthy path, and considering I'm a lacto-ovo. The hash brown casserole was absolutely awesome!! My mom ordered something that I cannot remember the name of, but it had smokehouse sausage, grits, biscuits and gravy (she opted out on the included eggs, because she's not a fan). Everything was absolutely delicious! The coffee was very good as well. After our meal, we wanted to go back to the old country store to browse, but by then the place was packed!! They don't care about you unless you are eating in. Not a single time that I have call in an order for take out have they been anywhere near punctual. If they say 15-20 minutes prepare to be there for at least 45. I ordered online for curbside delivery. Expected time for my food to be ready is 8:02 I show up park and call at 8:06 they say my food be be out in just a minute. Thirty minutes later I decide to walk in along with the other four curbside customers that have been waiting there even longer than me! It's been there sitting on the pick up shelf getting cold (along with all the other curbside customers food as well). I waited over an hour from call time for ONE order of pancakes that they in the end didn't even put my syrup in the bag. So now I have cold dry ass pancakes to eat. Went for dinner last night. Was seated promptly and they were a little busy. Our server was uninterested in our table. Mom and dad with one kid, how bad could it have been to wait on us. 8 mins later she took our drink orders, and our food orders at the same time. Food finally came out and no biscuits. Asked about them and for them next. Was told biscuits come out with the meal. Not a problem. But the table behind us got theirs first and received excellent service. We however felt very rushed. She was not in a good mood. But every other server that walked past us had a smile on their face. It's not good business to drop off a check when you drop off the food.
