Well didn't realize it at the time but this may be my last sit down review for a while. I ate hear on the weekend. First had to buy some items in the store. They have a pretty unusual selection of items there that you probably won't find elsewhere like key west lime soda and it is great. We were set quickly and the restaurant wasn't too busy for a Sunday. They had a special on the menu for corn beef and cabbage with boiled new potatoes and carrots. It's too bad this isn't always available as the corned beef was excellent. I liked that it was a little thicker then the normal paper thin slices. Potatoes tasted great too still firm but cooked good. Cabbage was great and a decent amount. I didn't get a lot of carrots in my plate but they were soft and tasted pretty good. Our waitress was phenomenal good and made sure we got our hot biscuits that just came out of the oven. Overall a great meal and a good last brunch as the in dining was closed due to the virus the next day. They are doing the normal carry out though. read more

My son and I went to the cracker barrel in Plainfield few days ago. I ordered the special on the menu, which was fried turkey. Took a quite a time for it to come to our table. When it arrived, it was like leather, overcooked, could not cut into it. I left the waitress know, who was very nice. Told her to just give me chicken and noodles instead cuz I was so hungry and did not want to wait. The chicken and noodles came, noodles barely done, the chicken was good, what was there. I have to be a little disappointed to write this, being race weekend an Memorial Day all wrapped into one. It seems as thou they were overwhelmed I can understand being in a hotel area but you as a manger should be really prepared to have extra staff on hand, the food was good but the service was a bit lousy our server was dazzled said she been going non stop which is no excuse you know what weekend it is they've warned you it's coming she got all our orders, as our food came my wife's was totally wrong, my daughters boyfriend was displeased that he didn't get his bread with his meal , an would ask everytime she came to the table it was I will be right back with it an everytime would be empty handed an this went on 5x it took extra 15 mins to get my wife's meal to her, she didn't put in the complete order an when she would come we had to ask 3x for what was missing, we ordered desert an she brought the check an was over charged an charged for things we didn't order not to mention she didn't even put the desert on the check or place the order. It wa just a very poor service situation but that the weekend was busy weekend this year is no excuse, food taste good an was cook right an the staff was friendly I just think they underestimated the weekend hope to go back an give a better review read more

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store - Southern Near Me - Plainfield, Indiana

I love cracker barrel food...love. With that being said, a few suggestions: Figure out your online ordering system. Every time I've tried this, my food has been cold (even though I was waiting in the lobby for it FOREVER), or items were missing, etc. This isn't specific to just this location, but all in general. Servers are actually told not to give strawberry jelly out unless it's requested because it's more expensive. Can we just stop this please? Offer grape and strawberry every time. All it does is make the waitress have to go back AGAIN and get more stuff for us. I'm not trying to be a needy table but I want my strawberry jelly, and considering I'm paying over $5 for 1 egg and 1 biscuit for my kid, I've more than paid for your tiny strawberry jelly. (Side Note: 8 biscuits sitting on my table and you bring 2 strawberry jellies isn't going to go well either...just making more work on yourself...). With those suggestions, usually the service is fine. I've actually had better experiences with the newer staff. They have some GREAT staff that have been there for as long as I can remember, but I feel like a lot of the experienced staff tends to slack off, forget more items, or mess up our order more often. Maybe just a couple of bad experiences, but I've had better luck with the newer staff (1 star or less) or the extreme veterans (5+ years) than the 2-4 star'ers. read more

My Mom and I had lunch at this location, and it was a wonderful time. The food was hot and fresh we got our order promptly and the server was great at keeping an eye on us. The only draw back was the server was not very aware of some of their new menu items, when my Mom had a couple of questions. They may need to learn more about the items so they can help out the older customers. read more

We tried to visit last night with our neighbors. We had a party of 7 and we're given an estimated wait of 30 min. We waited 35 which wasn't too bad at all. We were seated at about 8pm and give menus by the hostess. Our server hadn't come by and after about 10 min another waitress asked if our server had taken our drink orders. We said no and she seemingly went to get our server. Still...no one came. We checked back in with the hostess stand and they said they would check. We waited 10 more min and decided we were leaving. As we left we talked to the hostess stand and front register. They apologized but the damage was done. They seemed to have plenty of staff and it wasn't busy. Our server likely made a mistake or there was a mixup, but we tried to give them time but 20 min to greet our table is terrible. We went to Waffle House and sat right down and our food was on the grill cooking within 5 min. I likely won't to back to Cracker Barrel. read more

We have been to Cracker Barrel in different states while traveling and have always had good service and good food. This particular location should take notes from other locations. I can't comment on the food because we were never able to get seated. Walked in, stood in line for more than 10 minutes and were never once greeted or ask for our names for a waiting list. People were just standing everywhere waiting for a hostess that never came. There were other employees restocking and/or arranging product in the store, but we were not acknowledged by any of them either. My family of six got there about 12, we figured there would be a wait and they told us it would be a 30 minute wait. We waited for two hours and then were finally seated in abby's section. We ordered our drinks and food back to back. After we got our drinks there were four people who were seated next to us. The table next to us ordered about 30 minutes after us yet they got their food and hour before any of our food came out. We waited for over an hour without seeing our waitress when we asked another if she could check on our food. Our waitress then walked out saying she put our order in and we needed to wait. We finally got our food after an hour and a half of waiting. As our food was being placed down the family next to us got up cause they had finished their food. I would like to mention that I am pregnant and I had four kids who were waiting. When we got our food she handed me the plates which burnt both mine and my seven year olds hands. Both of my daughter's noodles were not fully cooked, my son ordered a sandwich and they gave him no bread, and there was more missing. When I said something about it she rolled her eyes at me (she was obviously in her 30s so this wasn't a teenager ). All of us were out of drinks by the time we got our food and she only refilled my oldest daughters and my husband's drink. She then literally left and was seen walking out the door. If ordering biscuits and gravy they come in a basket and they expect you to dunk a piece at a time in the gravy. And if you ask for something to put them on they bring you a little bowl. So by management you have to ask for a round plate and get in touch with corporate and complain. And then the peach cobbler was cold. read more

Tried checking in for curbside by pressing link in email. Finally had to call to get the food. They forgot our tea. Took receipt to get tea and didn't return it. Food was lukewarm at best when we ate it in the parking lot. No utensils or butter/honey/jam given for the biscuits. The tea they forgot was sweet tea. I love Cracker Barrel!! My husband and I have traveled a lot and wherever we go, if we see a Cracker Barrel, we always stop. I can honestly say that no matter which Cracker Barrel we have eaten at, the food is ALWAYS delicious!! We frequently go to the restraunt in Plainfield, IN. It's the closest to our home. The service is always great. Even if it is extremely busy, the wait has never been more than 20 minutes. I don't mind the wait because that gives me a chance to look around in their store. I am very impressed with the prices in the store. Well in fact, in ANY Cracker Barrel Store. My Grandchildren know that when they go out to eat with me, I always buy them something from the store. I tell them how much they can spend and then they have the luxury of choosing their goodies. Do I recommend Cracker Barrel in Plainfield, Indiana? Definitely!! My wife and I have patronized this Cracker Barrel location (Plainfield, IN) countless times in the past, and have never had a poor experience. The service and food quality have always been excellent, and the prices reasonable. But when a health issue (non Covid-19 related) no longer permitted us to dine inside the restaurant, we had to resort to carry-out . This where their quality of service diminished. On several occasions we found our order incomplete. I let these shortcoming slide, as the items that were missing weren't worth the hassle of calling Cracker Barrel to complain about their absence. This past Wednesday (11/24/2021), my wife placed a carry-out order for four Thanksgiving dinners, only to find when I arrived home and unpacked them the four slices of pumpkin pie that were supposed to be included were missing. Granted, this was no big deal unto itself. But this was Thanksgiving, and I fully-expected my order to be complete, especially after having made the 1 hour/28 mile round trip from my home to pick-up the order. Did I try calling Cracker Barrel to report these missing items? Yes - several times. But the phone went unanswered both times. Should I have checked my order before I departed? Perhaps - but I shouldn't have to. read more

The only thing that saves this place from a 1 star rating is the fact that they have a cute store with some unique things that you can buy...and I have childhood memories that I would like to keep positive. My husband and I have eaten here several times since moving to the Plainfield area. I would say this location is just average. Our service is average. The time before last, our food order was completely wrong. Our waitress did not know the menu but rather than ask, she just put in whatever order she thought it was. Got seated and no sign of our server. Two people got sat after us and got greeted right away. Asked manager where our server was and he pulled another waitress over to take our drink orders. Placed my order online and when l got to the store l entered my parking space number indicating l was outside waiting for my curbside pickup. After 15mins l called the store as it was about to close. I lady rudely said l did not have an order placed. So confused l went inside and before l could show her my online confirmation the same old white lady with short hair yelled you have no order. I showed her my confirmation number and emails. At this point knew she was wrong as the order had clearly been placed a while ago. So went to the back, picked it up the rudely placed it on the counter for me to pick up, looking to the side, no apology or anything. I guess in her mind she had to be right and apologizing to a black customer was not on her agenda. So at this point, not only was this unnecessary but l was out my car, so no curbside, order was delayed and what do you know order was wrong when l got home. Manager Mike apologized about the situation and offered me a refund. Although this was nice of him, it would have been nice to get great customer service from the beginning. Noone buys anything wanting a refund but stellar customer service should not be optional especially right now when most restaurants are coming out of a pandemic and are struggling. Cracker Barrel is the place to go to get a good tasting meal 7 days a week. Breakfast is served all day and dinner starts at roughly noon. Food, service, and cleanliness of the restaurant is always good. The staff are always friendly and helpful. My big complaint is they have switched their French fries to a inferior type. read more
