I visited a Cracker Barrel in Tennessee with some college buddies many, many, years ago. It was nice to shop at the country store, wait on the iconic porch rocking in a rocking chair. This week I had the amazing opportunity to take the family to a Cracker Barrel right here in California. The kids could spend hours looking at all the novelties in the country store. The family enjoyed sweet tea and playing the tee peg game while we waited for our lunch. What makes this restaurant especially wonderful is the service, the host and servers provided the sweet southern charm that I experienced in the south! Definitely not an everyday meal, but worth the stop especially if you're on your way to or back from Tahoe! read more

I stopped in on my way to Stockton for a late afternoon early dinner. I ordered the Meatloaf off the Senior menu. The service was prompt and respectful as I have come to know many of the locations on the east coast. The ambiance is consistent across the entire chain. The decorations while not identical are always consistent to their theme. I selected the meatloaf dinner from the senior menu with two sides of steak fries and broccoli accompanied by a biscuit. There's only 5 CB in California so I was excited to see this. I left Lake Tahoe early so I could have breakfast here. Unfortunately, this doesn't measure up to the ones in the East or they have gone downhill in the last year. The biscuits which were large, fluffy and buttery are just small rocks with no taste. I heard that Cracker Barrel is popular on the East Coast, and I wanted to check it out. It's very classic, no frills American breakfast spot with a cozy, nostalgic vibes. They have a gift store with a variety items like hello kitty plushies, stickers, keychains etc in the entrance. Since I'm not a huge breakfast person, I wanted something lighter. I got the turkey sausage with egg whites and grits. The turkey sausage was flavorful and well cooked. This was actually my first time trying grits, for those who haven't had them, it's a bland porridge made from ground dried corn. I appreciated the fresh fruit on the side to finish the meal. Sure, it's kitschy like a themed amusement park experience: tons of country decor but we've consistently had pretty good meals and good service. Winter brings out Thanksgiving and Christmas decor, entrees, and sides. On our recent visit, we had delightful fried chicken: moist meat, crunchy exterior, and good flavor. I tried a sip of hubby's and it had just the right amount of sweetness, my lemonade was delicious as well! Come here for the vibes and the nostalgia. The food is edible but I wouldn't say it's amazing. The biscuits are a bit under, the cornbread could use a bit of flavor. The Mac and cheese is decent but not special. I enjoyed the meatloaf more than I expected. Our family only ordered broccoli as the only vegetable and I found them unappealing. The brown gravy is straight up onion powder and salt made into a liquid. Kids meals are also decent, and I'm sure a child would eat their fill. The staff are all incredible patient and hardworking. They have to deal with picky eaters and huge tables. They were attentive, even with several large parties. The decor is fun and old-timey but I definitely wouldn't choose to come here. read more

I ordered food to be delivered from Cracker Barrel. I received a confirmation number and an email. My food never arrived but I was charged. I called the store and the manager acted as if he could not care less. He told me a third party picks up the food and they don't track it. Yet, I ordered it on the Cracker Barrel app which is their own website. He refused to refund my money. I even gave him the order number sent to be from the Cracker Barrel site. First he said it had been picked up; next he said it wasn't in their online orders. I made him check the number again. He found it. Then he said it should be here soon. I never received the order and he refused to refund my money! This is outrageous!! Don't patronize Cracker Barrel!! read more

Came here 07/05/2025 w family Honestly who made this place only 2.7stars because it should be at least a 4. They just ordering the wrong thing. This store is connected to a small shop where you can do some post munch shopping. Maybe get something cute! We were seated right away, lucky. There is a lot of cute, vintage items to look for on the walls. It can never get old. We all ordered the momma's breakfast pancake ($13.5) which came with bacon and two eggs (you can let the waiter know how you like them done) and three pancakes with whipped butter. They will give you a small bottle of house syrup on the side. Don't be why to ask for more. The pancakes were super buttery, creamy, and DELICIOUS. I couldn't make it past two pancakes, brought it home and it was still good!! what a surprise. I also got the pink lemonade ($3.99). Very refreshing, not too sour. A great combo with the pancakes. But it also pairs wonderfully with any drink! I also heard that the campfire meals are delicious, will try it next time!! Overall, great experience. Just ask the locals!! read more

I know this review is late but yes, I do highly recommend Cracker Barrel. They have something for everybody. For those with a sweet tooth they have a great skillet Cinnamon roll which are individually in the pan. They are very moist and the glaze is the perfect amount of sweetness. If you love barbecue, they make a barbecue where the bone comes out of the meat so tender so decadent . They make a great slaw with just a right amount of sauce. And if you get their peach mimosa you're gonna love it because it is fresh peach purée mixed with champagne. This is a great place for the whole family and. Friends to enjoy time together. Their service is very welcoming and friendly. If you like shopping they have a nice little gift shop for you to look around and buy something. read more

Time for an update! This is the only location left as the Howe ave location closed. I come here about once every other month. We brought our mother here for Mothers day as it is her favorite place. They used to be very good value for your money but now they are like everyone else, $16-18 per entree and that includes breakfast. When they first opened, service was long and atrocious. I will have to say that has improved as I do not remember a bad experience in recent months. What sets them apart is a few items you cannot find anywhere else. Chicken and dumpling. Fried apples. This is my mom (age 67) new favorite place to eat. Where you first walk in you go through a cute little store where you can buy knickknacks for seasonal holidays or just for fun. And then you go into the restaurant which has cool decor throughout multiple periods all over the walls. The food is an American style and they have daily specials. Servers are always very friendly. What a nice relaxing place to have some very delicious wholesome stick to your ribs food! My son, brother and I had dinner at this lovely restaurant this evening. We were waited on by a super nice and very friendly waitress. She politely assisted us in getting our drinks and taking our order. The food arrived quickly and was served hot and fresh. Very yummy. My son and I had the chicken strips and my brother had a salad and the turkey soup. The food was so yummy! The guy who took my order over the phone was an absolute doll and so friendly and professional. The food isn't backing up the level of hard work the people here are doing and it isn't their fault. It's obvious standards for quality have been lowered this year and while I've noticed it getting worse and worse this is my final time eating at this chain. You just cannot tell me that is normal for chicken. I've never seen anything like it. Corporate, I understand you're trying to keep prices cheap, but when you're having to do so at the cost of serving prison grade meat, it's time to do something different. The biscuits also seemed like they were super old. I couldn't even eat this. As far as ambiance, I don't know. It was a takeout order. As far as I remember the place used to look old fashioned but I think they changed that, too. The worst is the food, though. Really cute southern restaurant concept but super gross food. Cannot overestimate how nice and lovely the employees are. Again, this is not on them. I never complain about food and will eat about anything but this was unbelievably unexceptionable I tried to order fried chicken bone in they said only on weekends so I tried for turkey only on Tues. they recommended campfire chicken it was wrapped in foil and everything inside was mush including the chicken. carrots and corn were brownish black the manager came and I showed him he said he doesn't eat corn I said you should know it's yellow not black. Only their Southern fried chicken doesn't hurt my soft stomach. Amazingly their southern fried chicken or home style chicken is never soggy or oily. Absolutely loved the honey butter southern fried chicken. It is a true delicacy. The toasted English Muffins came soaked in honey butter the combination was orgasmic. The dumplins have remained my absolute fav side dish thru the years. The seasoned rice was extra special as a side. Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere with kind service right from cashier to receptionist to my waiter Margarita and the manger himself. Chic ambiance yet homely southern feel, which I find it to be inviting and nourishing to the soul. Love all the products in the gift store to treat oneself and entertain oneself. A special shout out to Mocha as they manage to out the right amount of chocolate powder without overpowering the coffee taste. As I said it is a place for body mind and soul. I stopped into Cracker Barrel while I was in the area because I've been looking for some old fashion candies. I hadn't been to a Cracker Barrel in quite some time, but it's very similar to what I remember. The parking lot was large and with plenty of spots. It serves Cracker Barrel and other nearby restaurants. I didn't end up dining in the restaurant, but I browsed the store portion and they had Halloween items on sale and plenty of winter holiday items out on the floor. After taking a quick peek at the items available, I focused on the candy area. I ended up grabbing a bunch of old fashioned candy sticks that were 10 for $2 as well as a big bag or Werther's and Butter Rum lifesavers. The staff there was really friendly and helped me find prices on a couple items before helping me check out. I thought the variety of items was great and the pricing was great too. read more

Don't believe the elite reviewers. There is absolutely 100% no way the restaurant at this quality level should be ever given a five star review. When you see these elite reviewers giving them four stars and five stars you know what's going on. Went here with my wife the other day for the first time ever. We have never ever tried eating at this place in our whole life. We walked in the door and the main host sat somebody down and then disappeared for over 10 minutes while we were just standing there after he already saw us. We looked into the main restaurant area and just saw him standing there, looking around for minutes . Finally, after more than 10 minutes of us, just standing there without even getting a welcome, he sat down at a table in Dominic's area . We sat down for almost 15 minutes and watch the waiters and waitresses go round. Not once within 15 minutes, did we ever speak to that waiter in our area or any waiter for that matter. Nobody greeted at us. Nobody asked us for drinks. Nothing, Nada. We basically get up to walk out and the other waitresses look at us and say nothing to us. My wife goes out to the car and I stay in the retail store because I wanna talk to somebody about the situation seeing this. This is our first time ever there. We waited another 10 minutes for somebody to get to that counter and then the guy just ignored me. Needless to say, we will never ever ever ever go back to this place or any of them Their hospitality is on mark with their wokeness now. It's unwanted. It's cold and they have no manners. They don't appreciate their customers. Just outrageous We seriously do not recommend anybody going here especially with the CEO that they have now. It was my very first time coming here . Theres plenty of parking outside . The hostess was nice and she sat us down . Our waitress was sweet , I saw most people waiting a bit for their food , but we did wait a bit for our food but it seemed that our waitress had a bad leg, so we understood and were patient about it . But she still attended us very well. The food was fine . It is comfort food for sure . The decor was neat ! It was cool they had a store there too . I also like the outside of the restaurant to play some checkers. I ordered the grilled chicken tenders and it was very juicy and had flavor , with the plate I order it came with two sides I chose the cheese potato casserole and grits. That seemed okay . We also order the pot roast came with mashed potatoes that was always was good . The chicken noodle soup was very salty though. Overall it was a neat experience. Look, I don't usually wax poetic about chain restaurants, but Cracker Barrel isn't just a restaurant. It's a warm hug wrapped in sawmill gravy. I ordered the Grandma's Sampler--minus the "sampler" bit, as I went full-bacon, no regrets--and, as usual, *chef's kiss*. The eggs were scrambled to fluffy perfection. The pancakes were sporting that impossibly thin, golden edge of crispiness that should honestly be illegal because it's so delicious. The bacon was the kind of salty joy that makes you briefly consider writing a will just so you can list this meal under "final wishes." And the hashbrown casserole deserves its own legal protection under California heritage law. Everything came out piping hot and on time, which, frankly, as an attorney, is more than I can say for most court filings I see. Service was friendly without being overbearing--no excessive chit-chat, no "So what brings you in today?" Just good old-fashioned attentiveness and drink refills that seemed almost clairvoyant. The gift shop, of course, remains an enigma: equal parts candy store, toy store, Civil War museum, and your grandmother's attic. I walked out with a jar of apple butter and a mild existential crisis. All in all, Cracker Barrel Rocklin (or really almost any Cracker Barrel) remains--at least for me--the undisputed champion of breakfast, brunch, or "Brinner" (i.e., breakfast for dinner) and gravy-based decision making. Finally was in the area and decided to try out Cracker Barrel. Came during off hours so it was pretty dead which I didn't mind. Ordered the Cajun shrimp plate which came with a garlic bread and it was so good. Also ordered their onion petals which were yummy as well it did come last since the waiter forgot but didn't mind. I also got the steak plate with mash and Mac and cheese and it was good and well seasoned the steak. Their biscuit so so gooooood, I never eat biscuits from restaurants but this one I tried it and loved it! Got the soup of the day which was basically pot roast with noodles and that was yummy as well, very homey. Also ordered their Coca Cola chocolate cake and it was so moist and yummy! The chocolate syrup was a little too sweet for me but that is just my taste buds. Also got the Cinnabon pie slice and that was delicious as well! Can't wait to stop here again whenever I pass by! We came in on a Tuesday at 2pm. It has been forever since we have been to a Cracker Barrel and never been to one in California. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by several associates. The restaurant has the same unique decor as usual. Our server (Ruby) was friendly and gave us nice suggestions. We ordered the three item classic sampler with mash potatoes and fried okra, chicken fried turkey with hash brown casserole and fried okra, and a pitcher of peach mimosa (never seen this item before!) The mimosa pitcher was smaller than I expected (but still enough for two) Mash potatoes good but cold, chicken dumplings cold, meatloaf kind of dried out on the edges, fried turkey -nicely crisp and hot, okra fantastic. Wow! Talk about an absolutely mouthwatering pot roast! I've been dining here since they first opened and have always enjoyed their fried chicken and savory meatloaf. Today, I decided to try the pot roast, served with creamy mashed potatoes and rich, flavorful brown gravy. It was incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned with carrots potatoes and celery --so good I practically licked the plate clean, especially with those warm, buttery biscuits! My husband ordered the chicken tenders, but he wasn't a fan--he found them too thin and overly crunchy for his taste. Well, This is our last time patronizing Cracker Barrel. It's been going downhill for awhile. After our breakfast last time we said we were done coming here. On Sunday we decided to give it another try. Came in for the fried chicken. Should have gone to Kentucky Fried Chicken or got chicken from Savemart Deli. The chicken was mostly a batter and the chicken should have been smoking hot since we told our server (Patty) last time the chicken had to be sent back, It was so old (not fresh) The white and brown gravy are both horrible. I've been seeing Cracker Barrel all over my fyp lately and we decided to make a stop on the way home from Tahoe. It was the best decision!! We arrived about 4:30pm on a Sunday. We were greeted upon arrival by Joe who was super awesome! We ordered the bbq ribs with mac n cheese and coleslaw & the country fried steak with the hash brown casserole and green beans. Both entrees came with biscuits and corn bread muffins. The food came out super fast like ~10min and was super satisfying. Ribs were very tender!! Dawn was our server and she was very kind! Joe also hooked it up with two free dessert vouchers (we took home 2 orders of the biscuit beignets) and a brownie with vanilla ice cream at the end of our meal. Sooo good! We browsed the gift shop at the end of our meal and there were so many cute knick knacks, toys, and more! We will definitely be back! Loved the food, customer service, and atmosphere. read more
