Second visit. 100% better than the first! Breakfast this morning, BLT added avocado, side of fruit and a treat of their croissant donuts, original. Service was spot on. Food was fresh, fruit was perfect ratio of grapes, blueberries, strawberries and a couple of melon pieces. All fresh fruit with a nice snap when you bite into them. Those donuts! I understand why it's difficult to keep them in stock! Ambiance has a diner feel, average noise, fun, uplifting atmosphere. Servers and hostesses are cheerful. $30 for breakfast. Just me. Won't make it a habit, especially with $3.49 upcharge for avocado. As an occasional outing, welcome to the neighborhood!

I came here for Mother's Day after church and I didn't have the most pleasant experience. We were given a 30 minute wait estimate that turned into 45 minutes which is when my party decided that it was taking too long and we were okay sitting at separate tables. I ordered the French vanilla iced latte and it was delicious, but all the drinks took a very long time to come out. Our food also took a very long time even though the restaurant wasn't that busy and we put our food orders in with our drinks. I ordered the Grilled Chick and it was completely dry. It came with "secret sauce" but there was barely any on the sandwich and the chicken tasted overcooked. The French fries were good but the home fries weren't hitting like they usually do. My sister ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes and although she enjoyed them she did note that the lemon was VERY strong. We also got free croissant style donuts courtesy of the owner and they were absolutely delicious. Overall I didn't have the worst time but I think this is my last time coming to the Benson location. The Clayton location is more put together and has better/faster service.

Good food; friendly staff; friendly owners. We've been eating here a few times a week for the past few years.

I had no clue what to expect being a first time patron. My spouse had been here several times and was always raving about how good it was. The stars aligned and we finally made it during a meal time. We came in and ordered and paid at the counter, found our seats, and then waited while our food was being prepared. There's something to see on every wall, and you can tell they know what they're doing with all of the trophies on display that they've won throughout the years. The indoor seating isn't too ample, so don't plan a family reunion, but it can hold a few families at dinner time. There's not a bad meat on the menu. If you're a vegetarian, this is not your new favorite spot. We got their brisket, chicken leg, and smoked turkey. The sauces at the table were tasty, and everyone found a favorite. We were thankful for the ample supply of paper towels, because our littles chowed down and needed to be wiped clean. This Redneck BBQ Lab knows what they're doing. On this particular night, they had too many leftover chicken halves towards the end of the evening, and were selling them half off, so we ate our food, and then got chicken to go for a future meal. Stop in and try it sometime.

It was dead inside but gradually filled up during my half hour there. The place had a very down home feel, if you know what I mean. My order didn't take particularly long, but the take-out scene seemed more popular than the sit-down. Almost like nobody wanted to wait. I get that. The string beans and cabbage were as routine as possible. Seemingly no different than what you'd find at Cracker Barrel or a Bob Evans. But the hush puppies were some of the best I've ever had. Soft and flavorful on the inside; firm, with a mild crunch on the out. They didn't have the sandwich I wanted so I asked for a bun to make my own. And I did. I went in expecting to mix hearts with gizzards but instead they offered livers. I made due. I won't do that again. The iron flavor is too much. Next time, I'll stick with gizzards. They were good. Especially with lots of hot sauce. Best, A.
