I had my granddaughter visiting but she was not feeling well so I went on the Cracker Barrel website to order her favorite meal for delivery. I ordered a meal for myself as well. I was unaware of which delivery service Cracker Barrel was affiliated with. I always tip at least 18% of the total. However, when our meals were dropped off, I immediately went outside to grab them before they got cold. Unfortunately, our meals weren't even slightly warm. They were stone cold and inedible. Cold grilled trout for me and cold overcooked pancakes and bacon for my granddaughter. I couldn't believe how long our food must have sat to get so cold. I contacted the delivery service (Door Dash) to complain but they blamed Cracker Barrel. I called Cracker Barrel and spoke to the manager who, of course, blamed Door Dash. He said he couldn't do anything about it and advised to write to corporate. I wrote an email explaining what happened. Corporate indicated they would send me something to compensate for my experience. I spent $30 on my order. Corporate sent an email with a barcode to be used only inside the restaurant to purchase a Homestyle Favorite which I believe has a maximum value of around $10 or less. I really couldn't believe this was considered a resolution to such an incredibly poor experience. I'm assuming the delivery driver delivered her orders by the amount of the tip she as getting instead of by pickup time. Either way, I won't set foot in Temple's Cracker Barrel or order from them again. I have never had this experience in any other Cracker Barrel so I guess it's the management here in Temple. I'm done ordering food here in Temple for delivery by Door Dash as well. read more

I like coming here for breakfast, they have a very basic menu. The usual stuff: bacon, sausage, eggs, ham, grits, pancakes, biscuits & gravy. Any variation of the above & maybe add a steak, simplicity. Then there's IHOP with their super-sized idea of breakfast, not here. To start we get there & of course we expect to wait given its Father's Day, so we wait maybe 10-15 min & they call our name. We get up there & the hostess looks at us with that dumb look & says "ohh umm yeah we still have to clean off a bunch of tables so you'll have to wait just another 20 min". Then we got sat maybe 5 min later & we order our food & while we're waiting the waiter brings us the biscuits & jelly & the small individual plates that he brought us were obviously just out of dishwasher as they were completely wet & also had an old wet used sugar packet stuck to the 2nd plate down. Told manager & he took care of it immediately. Our food was fresh & hot no problems after the initial ones. My son and I came here on a Saturday right at 5pm. There were 4 other tables there. When we got there, we were seated right away. The table in front of us was just leaving. Their dirty dishes, complete with half chewed food on them sat there the entire time that we were there. With only 5 tables total, you would think that someone could clean a dirty table off. Our food came out very quickly, in less than 10 minutes.My ham was a little too charred for my liking, but it was edible. I liked the coleslaw, not too dry at all. It was perfect. I asked the waitress for buttermilk biscuits, not cornbread and was served a plate of 1 buttermilk biscuit and 2 cornbread muffins. My sons Mac and cheese had bacon in it, which he didn't care for. It didn't say anything on the menu about having bacon in it. Robyn, our waitress was very attentive. Almost board line annoying. In the 25 minutes that we were there, she came to our table 8 or 9 times. Normally I would have given this place 3 stars, but the extra star is because of what I found in the gift shop. maple candy made in Vermont! Being from Vermont and loving maple candy, I have never seen it here in Texas. If I do go back, it will probably be to get more candy, not to eat at the restaurant. read more

Horrible service. Arrived and it was not busy at all. When the waitress finally came she seemed annoyed with being placed in her area. Drinks took 10 mins just coffee, milk and tea. Then another 35 mins for our meals. Nothing fancy ordered. Sadly people that were seated after us with another waitress were served and finished with there means before we got our plates. She never came to refill on tea or coffee we had to wave her down. Finally food came and we asked for ketchup and Tabasco another 15 passed before she brought those although we saw her visit other tables several times she completely ignored us. Her coworker noticed and brought us the ketchup and Tabasco. The fellow waitress made the excuse that they were extremely busy but as I said it was not busy when we arrived or when we were finally served. The food was hot and ok no complaints on the food at all. My son wanted juice she never came back in fact when she brought the bill she just set it on table not asking if we needed anything or were we happy with our meal. So she got a $2 tip that's it and I never do that but when my 5 year old has to go looking for another waitress to get juice you forgot to bring well your lucky you got $2. read more

Horrible food! The chicken and dumplings looked and tasted terrible! The country fried steak I think was really just ground beef, horrible texture and bland. Everything was bland. Even the cornbread was bland and tasteless! The table was wobbly and when we complained the waitstaff said most of the tables were and people just put the box of crayons they give the kids under a leg to stabilize the table. My mom and I met my sister here for lunch to give back my niece and nephew from their week long visit. We had about a 20 minute wait that turned into 20 minutes, so that was great. We were seated, and our waitress was very pleasant and friendly. We ordered our food, and enjoyed visiting. When our food came I noticed a hair on the outer rim of my salad bowl, so I immediately sent it back. The waitress was very apologetic, and brought me a new (I assume and hope) salad about 5 minutes later. My salad was okay, nothing crazy amazing. The fried chicken in it was good, but quite a bit of the lettuce was wilted, so I picked around it. My sister and niece barely ate their beef noodle soup as they said it was really salty and not very flavorful. My mom who absolutely loves Cracker Barrel said that the one in San Marcos is way better than this location. Before leaving I used the ladies room, and it was dingy, dirty, and honestly grossed me out, so I got in and out as quickly as possible. We sat and rocked for a bit on the porch before leaving. They have such great rocking chairs! Unfortunately, this visit has turned me off of wanting to eat at Cracker Barrel again anytime soon. read more

The food & drinks were good quality for the type of restaurant and prices were just right for the quality of the food & drinks, condiments and all! But what made our visit over the top was the server/waiter/waitress!!!!!!!!!!! Her name was Annie Maria D! If you're reading this review and go to Cracker Barrel please request her as your server/waitress you won't be disappointed by her!!! First off when we were seated she acknowledged and greeted us quickly! Than when we were ordering off the menu she answered all of our questions precisely and she went above and beyond our requests! She knew what was offered with the choicest and asked us about them! But first off when we ordered our drinks she came right back out with them in less than five minutes literally the last time we were in here it took about 10 minutes and our food was perfect and hot! While we were waiting on our food she saw that me and my brother were almost done with our drinks and she asked us if we would like refills! She smiled and asked if everything was alright, which everything was! Our food came out less than 15-25 minutes! When we tried it, it was really good and hot we got everything we were supposed to get! I'm telling you she's one of the best waiters/waitresses I've ever had! And so far I've only had 3 so far, two have been at the Cracker Barrel at this location! The previous visit here was in 2013 I don't remember his name but he was good! When we talked to her about life she just didn't give simple yes and no answers and a simple explanation she chatted to us like we were part of her family! She smiled too and had a nice attitude like she was having a good day! She won't disappoint! She's a mystery diners dream and gem! She was very very helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And after she served us another group of at least 4 people came in when she was taking their orders they were surprised about her knowledge of the menu and how she was able to assist with menu options and how helpful she was! Other waitress/waiters I know would be jealous of her skills! She was very smart, bright and intelligent! She deserves a raise and a promotion! You would have to be stupid not to see she deserves a promotion and raise! Annie Maria D should really get the employee of the year award! And be offered a position in corporate or as a lead server/ lead waitress! Or at least lead training videos for future CB waiters/waitresses on how to give perfect service! Corporate you need to take a look at her! And send someone undercover to dine there when she's there you won't be disappointed! Losing an employee like her is like losing a Lebron James or a stephen Curry! Tall young maybe Hispanic chick took out order we ordered drinks and food since we were already sitting for 10 mins and took the order from people that showed up after us. So she took our order. About 20 mins go by and our food comes out a couple mins before our drinks. We ordered coffee. I ask for creamer and she said she would be right back. About 10 mins go by and nothing. I ask a busser if they can ask someone to bring us creamer. I finished my whole meal before I got creamer. Not sure what this chicks problem was but all her other tables got there drink and creamer before they got there food. It was only us. I normally leave $10+ dollar tips. She deserved nothing. ZERO STARS!!! THE worst CB I have ever been to across the country!!! Frankly, it was unbelievable. I ordered breakfast-cold and eggs were like rubber. Not one thing was warm. However, the salad was WARM! Daughter's chicken fried chicken had totally congealed gravy. Husband's shrimp tasted like it was just on the verge of turning bad. And??? The dumplings were watery and tasted like FISH! I spit it out in my napkin. We asked for the manager and he absolutely could not have cared less. We are new to Temple and will NEVER go back to this CB. EVER! Hopefully Belton or Harker Heights can do better. I mean this one was just AWFUL! It all depends what u order. Don't get the hamburger steak!!!!!!! It had no flavor and tasted like a TV dinner! The chicken fried steak was gummy!!! Everything else was good especially the breakfast. The service sucks, waitress barely came by table. Don't get anything to go. I called it in and when I got there they had no record of my order. O had to wait 30 minutes in the store like an idiot. No one evened said anything like it'll be just a few mins or sorry for your wait. Finally I got my food and I had told the waitress I wanted a drink and she forgot it. This is not the first time we have been to this Cracker Barrel. We come here often. So this review is from multiple visits. The service in this store has gone to crap. Today has been the wort experience ever. We signed up to be seated. The hostess called us and led us to our table. However, we did not go to the table, we went to the usual spot they have led us to before. She took us to the fireplace to stand like idiots in front of everybody while they cleaned our table. Cracker Barrel likes to say your table is ready and then lead you to a dirty table while they clean it for you. We are usually happy enough waiting in the gift shop area. If you have a party of 5 they will seat you at a table for 2...guaranteed. They make the seating very uncomfortable. I have seen families come in with 6 people and they seat at a table for 4. Then the hostess stares at you like you're stupid. Anyways, we ordered a coffee, water and a coke. The waitress brought out 2 coffees. No water, no coke. After multiple tries she finally gets our drinks right. She took our order with memory....Didn't write anything down. The first thing I said was "wow, she couldn't even get drinks right" she messed up the food order as well. Half the food was missing. We tried to tell her what all was missing and she would bring back 1 item at a time. After 5 trips back to the kitchen we had everything we ordered. This usually happens every visit. I can only remember 1 visit in which the waiter got everything right. If I could remember his name I would give him kudos. So the meal was done...no tip left. We get to the gift shop to look around like everybody usually does before or after they eat. There were 2 ladies in the gift shop that reminded me 6 times if I bought something gift wrapping was free. The same lady told me 4 times. She spoke to me like I was her first customer of the day every time she saw me. I explained to her that she just told me and she apologized. Then she told me about free wrapping again when I walked to the other side of the store to get away. The food was good but the service is horrible. They try too hard to please you while making every experience miserable. read more

We had dinner at the Cracker Barrel recently and while I enjoy browsing their gift shop, I won't be returning to eat there. I ordered a fried chicken platter - it looked appetizing in the menu photo - but the fried chicken was actually two small cylinders of breaded and fried chicken, the vegetable servings (turnip greens, gummy mac & cheese) were so small I asked if I had been given a senior or child's plate and was told no, it was full-size, but that other customers had also complained. I had to ask for the accompanying bread and was given a small biscuit and a small cornbread muffin. The service was fair, but all in all, a dismal experience. The Cotton Patch in the Temple mall has much better food and service. read more
