We haven't eaten at this location or any Cracker Barrel in probably two years. We made the mistake of thinking maybe they improved to what they once were and we were wrong. My order instructions due to slight allergies wasn't applied and when I said anything they just took my already cold food back and scraped everything on a different plate. I got undercooked cold potatoes and some dry scrambled eggs. For the price they charge you'd think you'd get at least a hot meal. There was no manager on duty I guess because we asked for one at the register and the woman just wrote down a random note with our phone number and we were still charged a full amount even for food that wasn't delivered correctly. Also the laziness of some of the workers is wild we were sitting there and every minute or two there was an employee dragging chairs across the floor of the two rooms as slowly as possible instead of just picking it up. I think this time was it for us I'm not sure we will ever go back again. For a bill to be $60 for food you couldn't even stomach is way too much to throw away. Started to get cravings for CB after Dashing in this area too much. Invited my mom to join me for Lunch. She went with a classic fried chicken with mac n cheese. I chose the new Hash brown Shepherds pie. Like oh my god! Im a sucker for that dish by itself, but how they served it here? This was such a great choice. Instead of usual pie crust or baked mash on top? Its a crispy layer of hash browns that has a toping of veggie's n sour cream. The meat inside is tender and the sauce with the mash just danced in my mouth. Giving me a beautiful symphony of flavors. I dunked some of the rolls in it and it was just chef kiss. I noticed they added the thing other places been doing. Where when u buy and entree you can add a "heat at home" tv dinner version of the classic menu items for 6$. Who doesn't like cracker barrel once in awhile?!? Sometimes when hubby & I are running around and it's gets late we run into Cracker Barrel for a bite to eat. I love having breakfast for dinner and this is the perfect place to do that. They aren't expensive and they give you plenty to eat! Our server was James and he was lovely and very efficient!! Cracker Barrel also has the best gift shop! If you love candy, especially candy from years ago, you may find it here. Going into Cracker Barrel is like going back in time. Saw a photo of a meal displayed near the cashier area while waiting for a table - beautiful roasted chicken. Long story short - ordered it - that "beautiful roasted chicken" was delivered to my table wrapped in thick tin foil on a plate. ...as I pried open that hot charred tin foil I was shocked at the interior and the food. The chicken and vegetables inside were swimming in hot liquid - I assume the tin foil and contents were previously frozen and then simply stuck in an oven. Voila! Chicken and vegetable contents were almost inedible due to hot liquid that was contained within the tin foil. Attempting to eat was a task also - nibbled at the chicken and simply gave up. Service is slow and the staff says they're "backed up" but the restaurant is less than half occupied. This time the waiter didn't even bring the correct order on the third try. Then he wants to take an attitude when we challenged the extra drinks on the bill. The manager was no better... she couldn't care less about making the customer happy. And don't get me started about the nasty food splashed blinds, greasy floor, and caked on grossness pretty much everywhere. Still the worst restaurant in Brandon. Maybe I'll forget how bad in a couple years and try again, but not likely. -------------- In the past two months I've had several poor experiences with this staple of southern eateries. Most recently 20 minutes after ordering the fried chicken we were informed it would be an additional 25 minutes for the food. An alternative of fried catfish was promised in 5 minutes and still took 15. The overall quality of food has declined dramatically as well. I will say for being a Friday night this place is usually a wait but to our surprise we were able to be seated quickly. Our server Bianca was super sweet and attentive to getting drinks refilled and making sure everything tasted good. Well this is the tough part. For the food it was good but not great.. even though it came out looking great it wasn't and I'll start with the confetti pancakes. They were cooked in so much butter that they had pockets in the pancakes and the cereal inside either became tough or was already stale it was a tough pancake for my toddler. My other got the kids grilled cheese which no complaints there. My husband got the grandma's sampler which at first we did send back the bacon because it wasn't crispy but Bianca was so kind to get us another which came back perfectly cooked. Eggs were fine but the French toast were tough on the edges so the middle was the only edible part, maybe the bread sat out to long? Not sure. And the regular sampler I got for the most part everything was good except the dumplings I got for my side they had all clumped together so it was one big clump of dough in the middle of chicken soup, which the soup part was flavorful. When we talked to Bianca after the meal we told her it had nothing on her part I think the quality of the food has just gone down a bit. She wished us a better experience next time. Was happy that hostess saw I needed to be closer to the front of the building due to boot on foot and knee surgery and having a walker. She asked if a large round table would be ok for us and we thanked her for being so thoughtful. The food was good but not as good as other times. Went and had breakfast. I had grandma , but bacon was WAY OVERCOOKED as was the sausage and the ham seemed overcooked as well. Was dried out but edible. My friend has another breakfast meal with French toast and eggs and I believe another side. It was good as well their food was cooked well. It's Thank You Thursday and Thanksgiving Day all rolled up into one. I'm taking this opportunity to thank Cracker Barrel, and to update my review from 2016. This time, Cracker Barrel gets an extra star just for their Heat & Serve Holiday Meals. I was not happy 4 years ago and hadn't been back to this location since that time. It was my husband's bright idea to order the Turkey Dinner Meal because we just didn't feel like cooking this year. My mother passed away in September and it was just the 2 of us. We originally wanted to order it from Publix but we saw the Cracker Barrel online menu with the side dishes and changed our minds immediately. He placed the order a week before Thanksgiving. Our pick up time was given to us (our pick up date was Tuesday afternoon) and that was that. At pick up, everything was given to us in a large box to be refrigerated until the main event. Everything was packaged nicely and had instructions on how to put it all together. What I liked the most was that the turkey, sides, and yeast rolls are all set to bake at 400° F. It was that easy. We chose the 3-cheese squash casserole and mac n' cheese as our 2 side dishes. The meal already comes with cornbread dressing, turkey gravy, cranberry relish, and yeast rolls. The pecan pie was extra. Everything was wonderful! The turkey breast was super tender. They must have injected it with something to make it so moist (like a Butterball). If you desire dark meat, then you're out of luck. They don't give you a whole bird. The larger meal has 2 whole turkey breasts instead of one. I think the only thing that was missing was the cracker topping for the squash casserole, but that was easily fixed. We topped it with Ritz crackers. The cornbread dressing even came with a quart of chicken broth to mix into it prior to baking. There were butter packets included as well for the yeast rolls. They didn't really miss a beat. So, Cracker Barrel has redeemed itself. This Thanksgiving To-Go meal turned everything around for me. We're now looking forward to getting the Holiday Heat & Serve Feast for Christmas with the baked spiral ham. We've already ordered it. You'll get a bonus gift card up to $10 with a pick-up on 12/22 and 12/23. It's a $5 bonus card if you order the smaller meal like we did. The smaller meal was plenty and we still have a lot of leftovers. It definitely feeds 4-6 people as we could only eat a third of it. It was well worth it. read more

How does one review their local Cracker Barrel? With a belly full of warm buttered biscuits that's how! I have lived in less than 2 miles away from this Cracker Barrel location for 16 years and it's often hit or miss, especially the service but this time around our server was excellent. I waited 20 minutes ahead of time for my husband and son to finish on the golf course and meet me. Our server was extremely patient about me sitting at her table without my other guest. A few minutes before they arrived she took their drink order and I let her know they were going to be really thirsty so to give them light ice, not only did she put less ice in the glasses she brought an extra glass of each of their drinks! Like I said the service at this location has not been that great but she amped up the rating to four stars when usually I feel it's worth two stars and that's just for the food! My husband had grandmas sampler, my son had the pancake plate and I had a meat n' biscuits - these are our normal staples and they usually don't disappoint. Updated review 6/19/2023. This place used to be our "sure fire, guaranteed not to leave disappointed" spot to go. The past three times or so it's been horrible. The food always tastes ok but takes around an hour to come out now... but this trip was far worse. So much so we were picking up our things to leave without eating as food started to be served. Fathers Day dinner was the nail in the coffin. The atmosphere is the same at each one with a very casual dining feel. The service time here is absolutely unacceptable. It wasn't even busy. Our server was kind of rude while trying to apologize, that was actually more annoying than not having food was her excuses. We know it's not her fault. Apparently there were like two cooks in back for the whole place and they did NOT have it together. 5/7 of our orders were completely wrong, all the sides too. My husband did not get what he ordered and the waitress tried to convince him they changed the menu and it was the same dish. 1) No it's not the same dish. 2) If that was the case she should have said "we don't have that anymore even though it's on the menu, may I suggest..." whatever she brought him that was close. I ordered a meal and waited an hour for her to come out and say they're out of white gravy while there's white gravy on my table already. And I would have ordered something else had I known. Now I've waited an hour, I'm hungry and I don't want what she brought but I'm not waiting another hour for them to attempt to bring something else. They were out of chicken and dumplings which is what my kid loves, didn't tell us that till after he ordered and he was disappointed too. She knew it was a mess back there and brought us biscuits and burned corn bread very quickly. It has been a long time since I visited a Cracker Barrel, but after enjoying a "comfort" meal today at this Cracker Barrel, I asked myself why I took so long.. "Cracker Barrel" is a time-tested favorite that is often found near chain hotels and interstates. This one, however, seems to cater to a local customer base, making it busy today at lunch time. If you're into comfort food, such as fried chicken, mashed tomatoes, chicken and dumplings, meat loaf, Mac and cheese, etc. , then this is your place! You can still sneak over to Cracker Barrel even if you profess to not eat food that can tilt your cholesterol levels in the wrong direction. I couldn't resist the boneless "Sunday Chicken" (two breasts) with two sides. I had expected two mini chicken breasts, but I was very surprised to see good-sized breasts along with generous side dishes of an excellent hash brown casserole and a fresh fruit dish with ripened fruit. Everything was cooked or prepared almost to perfection! Service was accommodating for quiet seating in the back section and service was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. This store continues to impress me no matter how many times or the location. Always on top of their game in giving excellent customer service despite the nasty impatient customers who flock here to dine and shop in the country store. I still can't believe that I listened to the opinion of others and avoided Cracker Barrel for decades because the food is fantastic. The selection of classic candies, sodas and memorabilia for sale is astounding. I never leave without buying old-fashioned watermelon drops. It's not something from my childhood, just an item I saw in the store and decided to give a try. Well, I am hooked. Not too sweet, long lasting flavor, they are a nice treat for myself after a meal. I haven't sat and dined here because they are always packed, so I get my meals to go. Today was the first time for a mistake, not due to Cracker Barrel, but of my own doing for not reading the menu correctly. I ordered catfish through the app, when it was handed to me ,it was grilled, not fried as I actually wanted. This item is listed separately on the app so I didn't select the correct one. I didn't complain, just the wondeful server noticed my crestfallen face that I was disappointed and offered to see if the cooks could prepare fried fish for me quickly. She came back in less than 2 minutes and to my sheer surprise and delight handing me what I desired! Wow! We walked in 1hr before closing. Half of the dining room is already picked up, and the other half had 2 tables with trash and cups still on them. We order, and our waiter instantly had an attitude when asked if Eggs could be substituted for another item. No, okay thats no problem. The issue is when all of the food came out, 95% of it was cold and looked like it had sat for the last 20 minutes. The bacon had no flavor, the mac and cheese was watery, also had no flavor. The dumplings had no salt or pepper, and the eggs were severely undercooked. We ask to speak to a manager and she comes out with an attitude. She said shes sorry for the dirty greasy plate and all of the unseasoned food. She then proceeds to bring out the mac and cheese pictured below. We ask what the brown is (i dug it out from right under the top) and she says, "Its from where it was baked".. This brown object had a rag like consistency. We ask for the check and she waves us out rudely. The manager here has made this the worst cracker barrel experience in my entire 22 years alive. (And im from the south). 0 stars read more

Some of the best memories I've made with my two boys, now young men, have been at Cracker Barrel. Ever since they were little they have always loved looking at all the fun merchandise in the store and lastly when we are called to be seated, the warm roaring fireplace welcoming us to our cozy table. In the winter especially during the holidays we always make a point of coming to Cracker Barrel especially during a chili day when the fireplace will be roaring. Our typical order includes hot chocolates topped with whipped cream, buttermilk biscuits, with sausage gravy, chicken fried steak, and hash brown casserole. They would stop here many times and my brothers and sisters always loved coming here because we could play checkers, or color, or rock in the rocking chairs! And then we came here again, when my ex-husband and I took our kids while they were growing up! You haven't changed much! That same country porch with the rocking chairs & the kitchy gifts to browse through are all still there, as well as the same home-cooked meals, for good prices, and true down home goodness. I arrived at about 6:30pm and placed my order, then browsed while it was prepared. I waited about 10 minutes, while chatting with several of the ladies up front. Talk about southern hospitality! These girls nailed friendliness! I had the sugar cured ham (I love those breakfast-type steaks for dinner!), with steak fries, crunchy cole slaw, cornbread, a biscuit & their famous chocolate fudge Coca-Cola cake with hand made vanilla bean ice-cream.
