Late night after drinks and dinner elsewhere, it was great to find a Cracker Barrel that tolerates overnight parking in their lot. A quick look through the Old Country Store to see what local and seasonal they have here compared to other stores. The men's room was dirty. Definitely not up to the usual standards even considering that it's just about closing time. Dirty floors, an unflushed toilet, filled bins with paper, water on the counter. Unpleasant. I know people are not pro Cracker Barrel currently because of the rebranding but this restaurant needs to rebrand their employees. The waitress giving closed ended choices and the choices are not everything that is on the menu. I completely understand if inventory is low but that was not the case here. I mean... it's a Cracker Barrel? My grandmother loves coming here, and so I come with her when I'm visiting around Wilmington. On this recent visit, my mother and I both came here with my grandmother for our first night in town. We showed up around 6:30pm for dinner. My mother usually orders the catfish dinner when at a Cracker Barrel (which, to be fair, is only when we're visiting), but the waitress checked with the kitchen and the catfish wasn't ready. Not sure why (had they not taken enough out of the freezer or something?), but it was definitely disappointing. (She ended up ordering the trout, which she said was just 'meh'). My grandmother ordered a couple sides, and I ordered the chicken & dumplings. Things were fine... but nothing was really all that good. In my various experiences coming here over the years, and trying various items from the menu, nothing ever really stands out. It's all very bland and flavorless. Cracker Barrels generally feel, to me at least, like restaurants where it's this mass produced look of what "southern style" food is supposed to be... and it's just so lackluster, pretty flavorless, and just doesn't feel like southern style home cooking to me at all. The ambiance is this weird, forced mixture of selling tchotchkes from the crowded store + generic country décor. TL;DR I'm sure I'll be back, but that's because my grandmother loves it here. If it was up to me? I'd definitely be looking for something more focused on delicious, flavorful southern cooking and NOT the more mass produced food options sold here... let alone somewhere that'd rather focus on selling tchotchkes than home-style cooking. read more

Took my friend to Cracker Barrel for driving me to the airport. Had a very nice lunch but we were shocked to get plastic silverware. We were told the dishwasher had broken and they still had not gotten parts to fix it. Sad. Our server did not introduce herself. But once we asked she was very sweet. Looking forward to the menu items that ended up not being available. No peach mimosas, no Chicken fried chicken, NO fried turkey and they haven't had it for over a month. Was with a friend who is gluten free in Wilmington so she's careful about what she eats, so ended up here. I had a new seafood combo that had some fried shrimp and fried fish with two sides. I chose pinto beans and greens and both were good. The two pieces of fish were very small, that's reason for the three stars. The fish and shrimp were nicely done and I asked for cocktail sauce and a was brought promptly. The biscuits at this location were better than other locations. Our waitress was very nice and responded cheerfully to our request. Typical country atmosphere and I did not see any dirty tables. Located near a Walmart, not in the downtown area. read more

The server was good at her job. However, the only items hot were our coffee and our plates. I requested one side item to be replaced, but that was before I tasted my other foods. Our 2 breakfast meals were barely warm. The breakfast meats warm... beacon was not fully cooked. The scrambled eggs were not cooked to our liking. Carl provided amazing service!!! Very friendly, got everything correct, perfect service cadence, and kept our drinks full. They were out if a few things but he went above and beyond to make sure that didn't impact our dinner. This was our best yet experience thanks to Carl. We also picked up a $5 take home meal (meatloaf and macaroni cheese). Can't beat that! Freezer dinners cost the same. Food was great as always. The sirloin steak is always cooked perfectly. i'm giving this a 5 star review due to the home cooking, service, and value. this is not The Ritz- it's a fine southern home style place to eat. we've been coming here for 25 years now. it is one of the very few "go to" restaurants for us. they have all day breakfast. i cannot cook as well as they can- and i can cook. the waitresses are always so friendly, nice, and helpful. the atmosphere is relaxing. we have NEVER, once ever had a problem of any kind. they have desserts to die for. great selection. fast service. we usually take something home as we can't eat it all. yes, i wish they would lower the price of that $3.99 specialty coffee. all those 1 and 2 star reviews are fraudulent. made up. fictitious. i mean we've been going here for a quarter century now, and none of these things have ever happened. and all this is a bargain in april of 2025. read more

Overall, I am a Cracker Barrel fan. Love their food and their store. I have only been to this Cracker Barrel location once. What I found was the food was up to Cracker Barrel standards. The store is up to par with other locations. The service was sloooooooooooooow. Perhaps a victim of the employee shortages in the service industry as a whole. We waited about 40 minutes between the food order and when it hit the table. That's too long when a lot of items on the menu are already prepared (meat load, mashed potatoes, chicken and dumplings). The good is this location, and I assume others now, gives you the option of paying with your phone, versus waiting in line at the register. You do have to download the Cracker Barrel app to pay. read more

It was supposed to be my special birthday breakfast that ended up being special for all the wrong reasons. I ordered Grandma's Sampler Pancake Breakfast. Shortly after being served a cup of lukewarm coffee, the nightmare began. When my breakfast arrived, I immediately noticed that my portion of scrambled eggs was made with ONE egg and not two. My friend's plate clearly had 2 eggs on it and made mine look anemic. My bacon was greasy and undercooked. The sausage patty was tiny and greasy. The slice of ham was tiny, thin, and dry. Both the bacon an sausage were at room temperature as was the disgusting, greasy excuse for shredded home fries swimming in oily, tasteless cheese. YUCK!!! The pancakes were heavy, thin, and tasted like hamburger grease. I told the waiter I wasn't happy with my order and asked that it be remade. BIG MISTAKE. My fried eggs arrived over cooked with hard yolks, my greasy bacon was burned, the greasy sausage was now crispy and hard, and the pancakes flat, thin, and tasted like hamburger grease. And my tiny, thin, dry piece of ham was the same piece ham that was on the plat I returned, and was now cold and hard. My guest was completely finished with his breakfast before I was served my replacement meal, which I could not eat. TERRIBLE SERVICE. I came in with my mother and father to check in. First thing, the hostess didn't even bother to greet us. "How many" were the only words to come out of her mouth. She is rude, classless, and has no manners and lacks basic home training. She proceeds to walk us to the dirtiest possible table one could be seated at. The floors were wet and sticky and there was a "caution wet" sign. But that wasnt all. Our utensils came in a crumpled bag, and the menus were thrown down on the table. We had to get up and leave because this place is not fit for anyone with a shred of decency. The people sitting next to us also had to move because they were seated at the same table. Cracker Barrel never disappoints! Their biscuits are heavenly and you can always count on their breakfast and homestyle dinner options. Not to mention the fun shopping experience that always include nostalgic toys, decor and candy :). Their prices are great for the amount of food you get. I have noticed their portions have been reduced recently (most likely due to increase in prices and shortages). My recommendations include the chicken and dumplings, hash brown casserole, the biscuits, chicken fried steak, chocolate pecan pie and chocolate coke cola cake! My nephew says that their biscuits are the best in the world ;). Who can argue with that? :) read more

Worst experience ever at a Cracker Barrel! The only thing worse than the food was the service. We were told it would be 30 minutes by the hostess. However we had to wait over an hour just to be seated and another 30 minutes for food. That is unacceptable!! Save yourself a headache and find somewhere else to go! read more

I want to say that this meal single handedly ruined my Thanksgiving meal with my parents. You guys at Cracker Barrel should be ashamed of yourselves. The ONLY saving grace of this whole meal was our server. She was attentive, kind and definitely gets kudos. When I got there around 10:45 I stood in line. I got to the front and said party of 3 and the hostess ( who was very nice) said it would be just a minute. 15 minutes later we are still standing there cause they mixed a bunch of things up. Totally understandable on such a busy day. What wasn't cool was the manager or whoever she was coming over and in front of us and other customers tearing into the host's. She belittled them and was scolding them. Then the hostess said something nasty to us about the lady. I was laughing at this point cause it was so unprofessional. We get to the table and we're greeted promptly. They only had one menu. Let me tell you - not ONE thing healthy at all. No fruit, no salads, nothing. I had to order an egg white and a side of tomatoes. My mom ordered the fried turkey which she though would be like a fried turkey. Well, it was breaded and so hard to cut. My dad wouldn't even eat it and he eats everything. The dressing looked like stove top and everything looked so processed and thrown together. My dads Turkey had so much fat on it. For my parents to say it was bad- it had to be really bad! My egg white was so gross I couldn't even eat it. Even the tomato slices tasted awful. They still charged me even though I didn't eat it. $4.00 for 3 slices of nasty tomato and 1 egg white. Stay away from here for Thanksgiving dinner!! This was the worst. read more

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is a chain, usually reserved for when I'm away on vacation or my wife asks for it. CB is pure Americana, has been around for over 52 years (surprised the Cancel Culture society hasn't attacked the name yet) and they always have some sort of wait on Saturdays and Sundays. Yesterday, we made a decision to eat at Cracker Barrel on the fly, when our first, local choice had well over a 1 hour wait. This visit wasn't too bad at all. FOOD: Country Fried Steak and Gravy with 2 eggs, over-medium, side of grits, side of hashbrown casserole and 2 slices of multi-grain toast. It has been 8 years or more since I've ordered a Country Fried Steak entree just bc of how absolutely and incredibly unhealthy it is but, when prepared correctly, can be a tasty guilty pleasure. The CFS was breaded and fried well, had adequate gravy on top and was served nice and hot. Tasting this after so many years, confirmed I had made the right choice for Sunday brunch. The over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly and grits were creamy and hot. I added some salt and pepper to the grits and gravy topping on the CFS for some much needed seasoning, enhancing the flavors a little more. My only disappointment to the meal was the hashbrown casserole side. The taste of the casserole was ok but the side was not hot on the plate with the rest of the food and it was on the drier side...making me believe the casserole batch had been sitting for awhile. I was eager to enjoy this side, since it's my favorite side at Cracker Barrel, but was let down. The multigrain toast was wonderful with some grape jelly and my family enjoyed their meals as well. SCORE: 3.2 STARS!! SERVICE: After waiting close to 45 minutes to be seated, we were greeted by out server, Jesse. Jesse appears to be a veteran at this location bc she has her timing down to precision. She was very kind, polite, soft-spoken but was also attentive throughout our meal. Check-in's were appropriate, refills were on point and everything from greeting to goodbye was wonderfully executed to provide an extraordinary experience. Thank you, Jesse! SCORE: 5 STARS!! OVERALL SCORE: Hey, it's Cracker Barrel. Their food is usually consistent and predictable...but still good. Placed a To -Go order trying to give them a chance to show me they improved. Paid for the items online only to get to the store to be told they didn't have the order and after thirty minutes of trying to discover the issue the order was Declined on their end even though my financial institution processed the payment. While they were attempting to fix their communication problem I contacted my financial institution that advised me the transaction should have declined due to Cracker Barrel being on a Corp hold due to the number of complaints to American Express. After waiting another 25 minutes I finally get the order which I pay for again. After I get to my designation literally 1/4 mile away the food is not at serving temperature. Perhaps a change in management is needed to inspire other staff to address customer concerns and produce quality food to the customers. The staff were nice but its comparable to the Blind leading the Blind. If you have copious amount of time and patients this place is okay as a last resort. meh! We got there at 7:15 am because we needed to be somewhere. Not much of a line but still a wait because no hostess and short staffed. Our waitress ended up seating us and she was super. But the food was pretty bland. The biscuits and gravy had little flavor. My easy over eggs were anything but. In my 20 years of going to Cracker Barrel locations across the country, never would I have guessed that the worst one was in my own town. I always order the meatloaf with potatoes. In 15 minutes I have my food and I'm happy and stuffing my face with good American food. This location took 45 minutes to get my food and when I finally did get it tossed on the table, it was remarkably cold. The food looks like it was reheated in a microwave, then dropped all over and put on the plate to sit for 45 minutes. When I asked the waiter for another he said "I fucked up., my bad." Right in front of my child. What did they do? They gave me another meatloaf to take home by tossing it on the table as they passed by to the next table. Oh and guess what, they still made me pay for the food that I did not eat. As if another cold meatloaf to take home would make up for their service. Never again. Ordered food for takeout. I showed up about 10 mins early for my pick up and called in. The worker said she'd have it brought out when it was ready. It came out on the time my phone said it was ready and that's pretty sweet. The lady was even wearing a mask that brought it out and that surprised me but was a nice surprise. We stopped here on our way home to Ohio. Our food was hot and good. I ordered the grilled chicken and two Sides of dumplings. My wife ordered the new chicken tenders with mash potatoes and Mac and cheese. The grilled chicken was a tad small but you get about 7 pieces. It was grilled nicely and tasted great. The dumplings were warm and soft. I would like to see the dumplings come in little bowls instead of in the plates with 3 areas because I feel like I'm getting cheated on dumplings. I WANT MY DUMPLINGS! but it was really good. My wife's tenders were cooked crisp and nice. These tenders recipe is much better then their previous ones that I would not eat. She gobbled up the Mac n cheese in no time along with the mash potatoes. It was an overall great service and great food for like 20$!!! I was spending around 40-50$ for food at the beach that was awful! And here I go to a big restaurant chain and get better food, service, and price. read more
