Jack and coke
Renee B.

Plenty of parking on the parking lot. Stopped in to have lunch with my son today. The place was nice, neat and clean but, nothing really appealing. Service was very attentive and polite. My son had a jack and coke which had mainly coke in it and I had an apple martini with no desire to have a second one. Our food order was taken and the food was bought out in a timely manner. I ordered the sampler platter.... mozzarella sticks, old bay wings, chicken strips and french fries. The food was very bland and tasteless to me. My son ordered the barbecue brisket fries and southwestern egg rolls and he wasn't impressed either. We both left without the desire to come back because the food just was not seasoned well. I gave two stars because service was definitely polite and the dining area was clean.

The ownership has changed as evident by the new sign/menus and staff. The feel is a bit different. The crabcakes nor shrimp salad aren't as good. The crabcake wasn't as lumpy as the previous owners. The shrimp salad seemed more chopped up instead of whole shrimp . The taste of both were off. The Brussel sprouts were really good, the ribs were average. The prices were good, the receipt is for 3 ppl. The staff was ok but not as professional as they could have been. Our waitress was nice . It's located in a shopping center therefore no parking issues.

Looks good but that's about it.

Welp, we came by once and don't have to come back again. Years ago, my husband used to run to Crackpot for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime but clearly that has changed. The food was just okay, the service was NOT okay and and the drinks were meh. The only thing that's great is the decor. They did a really nice job during quarantine renovating the space. It's nicely updated and feels sporty with 12 tv's tuned to the Orioles, golf, lacrosse, etc. were on; it initially seemed like this was going to be a nice, decent dining experience. We were seated rather quickly but when it was time to place our drink orders, there was a bit of a hiccup. Our server Lalatianna didn't understand what I was asking for (it was Sunday so I wanted a mimosa) as it seemed that English is not her first language (which is perfectly fine but that will always create a difficult situation if the staff isn't coached on what items might be ordered in advance). My husband asked if they had any crabs and he was told that they didn't have any but we later overheard that a table that was seated long after we were was getting large crabs. He ordered the Crackpot seafood cluster which was NOT a pound of snow crab legs. I ordered a crackpot seafood club which is a crab cake with seafood salad. It was just okay. It's safe to say that we don't have to come back; aesthetically, it's an upgrade but the service and food need to catch up. Please see Mike D's review as he mentions that this place is under new ownership.

I really enjoyed the seafood at this restaurant. The crab cake was excellent and the steamed crab was good. The steamed crabs were a little pricey, but worth having a Maryland steamed crab experience. The only thing that could improve at this restaurant is the service was a little slow. I had to wait to get my drink refilled and had to take my check to the bar to pay, since my server was slow coming to my table. This restaurant definitely serves an amazing crab cake.

Crab dip and pretzel "chips"
Molly B.

Recently had a taste for some crab pretzel. One of my other local spots is now closed and Crackpot was the closest spot opened at the time. I ordered online, and I couldn't find crab pretzel. It said crab dip with pretzel chips. I'm like okay, boom. So after I finished shopping all over the place, I go to get the order. I get home and imagine my surprise when I see pretzel NUGGETS. Lawd have mercy. They had been microwaved. We all know what happens when you microwave dough items, you guessed it, the thing was hard as rocks. I had to get dressed again, go to a supermarket and find a baguette bread. I go back home again, cut the baguette, toast the pieces and finally eat. The crab dip was a little cream cheese than before, but it was good. It had been 15 years since I visited Crackpot. Maybe I will wait another 15 more.

Crab cake sandwich

The crab cake sandwich is humongous. Taste is okay, a little bland, but i could still taste the crab meat. Service was very good! This place is more like a pub than a restaurant.

Time was winding down to find a restaurant that my daughter wanted to go to for her birthday. I threw some suggestions out there and she decided on this one. I've passed this place plenty of times and was told about it before but never decided to go inside. I will say that the inside looks better than you would expect from the outside. We made reservations and was immediately greeted and seated upon entering. It was a Monday evening and it wasn't anywhere near crowded. Once everyone arrived, we ordered our food and began waiting. I settled on the sirloin and crabcake with broccoli and fries as my sides. Once my food arrived I knew it wasn't going to be good. Glad I got the fries (which were good) because that's the only thing that had any flavor. The steak just looked...off. I never had anything like it and that's not a good thing. I tasted weird and not "authentic". If you've ever seen the movie "Good Burger", I would assume that this is what a Mondo Burger tasted like. The crabcake was less disappointing but still sub-par. I managed to finish it though. It had more filler than I'd like and less flavor. The staff is friendly and that's the saving grace. If I ever return here, I'm only getting wings and fries.

Snow Crab Cluster

Service was very good. Waitress was very kind and attentive. The snow crab clusters were the best I've ever had!

It's wonderful to see my husband honored for his service on a regular basis. We appreciate the Heroes Table designation and how they list the names of vets on their wall. They truly appreciate veterans every day of the year. The new overall look of the restaurant is awesome. Keep up the great work!

Seafood pasta

Being in Baltimore and it being a crab place, we decided that we needed to try some. We went to the downtown area where a lot of restaurants are but the price was insane. We searched a bit until we found this place. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. It's in a shopping mall. But when you go inside, you are in a different world. It has 3 of the things that every crab house should have: the walls are pine paneling, theres sport fish on the walls and theres a sassy waitress. And the food doesn't disappoint. We had some crab cakes and the seafood pasta and they were really good. They were really generous with the amount of crab in the different plates. It was a really great experience and I would go back anytime if I was in the area.

(June 2026) My wife…read moreand I have been watching YouTube videos of the best crab cakes in Maryland. Pappas in Cockeysville came up in a couple of influencers' lists, so we made the 1 1/2 hour drive north to experience it for ourselves. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday morning and chose to sit on the restaurant side (versus the sports bar side). Our meal started with soft rolls right out of the oven and vinegar-y cucumbers. My wife had some them while I passed on them for I don't like cucumbers. Obviously, we later ordered the single crab cake entree with two sides ($33.99). I chose the fries and the up-charge for a Caesar salad while my wife picked the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. The crab cakes did not disappoint! Even though it was a hot day outside, they kept the restaurant very cold. After we ate, I didn't notice it as much because I was so full. A final note is the lunch crowd started coming in around 12:15pm.

Locales and visitors enjoying a Monday dinner - crab cakes or pasta seemed to be popular. The latter may be attributed to the $2 pasta discount on Mondays. The quintessential basket on the table of stale cracker packets and tiny plastic containers of butter probably sitting out 24/7. Meh- why "Oprah" would order her crab cakes from here when the crab is not from Maryland, right? Once I heard that news from the waiter ( I asked, it was not volunteered) I opted for the local soft shell crab special. ( despite it not being season, I should have known better. It was a puny crab with hardly any meat and it was not properly cleaned either. Sides of overcooked brocolli and asparagus. Baked potatoes looked liked yesterday's overcooked option. My colleagues enjoyed the crab cakes which were large portions- should be for $40+ each. Service was friendly, food took too long- it was a long wait for mediocre overpriced food.

We sat at the end of the bar and had to wait a few minutes to order. They don't have a beer menu, so you will have to eyeball the drafts as you come into the bar. The music was loud old-skool hip hop, which I love. There was also some great R&B. They have two pool tables constantly occupied by players who had brought their own queues. It was fun to watch. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, the husband ordered wings and french fries. The chicken quesadilla was delicious, served with salsa and sour cream. The wings were a little dry but the fries were great. I was going to give Freddie's 4 stars until I woke up the next morning and saw the 18% gratuity charged to my bill. I had not seen it and had tipped 20% so my server got a large unintended tip. I will not be coming back to Freddie's but at least now I know how they roll.

This was a nice and spacious event space with high top tables and chairs in addition to a long bar area. There were flat screen TVs mounted on the walls, so checking out the latest sporting events was not an issue. We got our bingo cards and dabblers and looked over the menu to order. There were two menus; the brunch menu and the traditional CVP menu. We got something from both: the CVP wings (mild), with tater tots from the traditional menu and paired it with the bottomless brunch drink package, which included your choice of house Bloody Mary, mimosa, screwdriver or Natural Light draft beer (you have to stick with one choice). The servers were pleasant and we placed our orders at the bar. The food arrived in about 30 minutes, but was warm, not as hot as I wanted. The wings were cooked well with a mild buffalo sauce and the tater tots came in a small metal bucket; enough for up to 4 people. They were fresh and not greasy, just wished they were hotter. For the bottomless brunch drink package, I chose the screwdriver and a pleasant server came over to our table and put a wristband on me so that I could walk up to the bar for refills. The vodka was well vodka, but I didn't have a headache the next day, so that was good! The upstairs area seems to be an event space. The downstairs area was the main bar with tables as well. All in all, CVP was ok for the event I attended and may visit again in the future.

First, I have to recognize Melony and the entire staff for the amazing attention they gave us. They made sure our party of 67 people had an unforgettable time. We were scheduled in the upstairs room, and if the weather had been better, we definitely would have enjoyed the outdoor patio as well. The band was great--loud, just as Melony had warned me--but it added to the fun atmosphere. The buffet was perfectly timed, coming out about 10 minutes after our party started, giving parents and athletes enough time to grab their drinks first. The food was constantly replenished, so nothing ever ran out. We highly recommend the shrimp tacos, chicken tacos, Philly cheesesteak sliders, beef sliders, chicken fingers, fries, Caesar salad, and mac & cheese. Everything was delicious! The staff had reserved tables for us, and although the restaurant was packed with our group, we realized we needed two more tables. As soon as I mentioned it, the staff quickly made it happen without any hassle. From start to finish, everything was seamless and stress-free. Thank you to everyone at CVP for making our visit so memorable. These New Yorkers will definitely be back the next time we're in Maryland for a lacrosse tournament!
