The chowder was also excellent and probably one of my favorite things we tried. Unfortunately, I had a pretty rough experience with the camel empanadas. On my first small bite, the empanada was so incredibly hot that it essentially burst, getting extremely hot oil on and around my lips and burning me. That definitely made the rest of dinner less enjoyable. I'd strongly suggest allowing these to rest a little longer before serving. The biggest disappointment was the gator fried rice. The gator was extremely chewy, and overall the dish lacked flavor. I wouldn't order that one again. We also tried the Super Nova, which was good but very rich. I think it makes much more sense as something for a larger group to share rather than a dessert for one or two people. Overall, 3/5. There were some genuinely good dishes, particularly the chowder and eggplant, and the service was pleasant, but the long wait, empanada incident, and disappointing gator fried rice kept the overall experience from being a standout.
